Omg, they tried to consume every weekend with us. I just ignored them and wouldn't visit them for months even though we lived 10-15 mins away. They hated me for it. My mother in law even tried to wedge herself into our date nights. It was crazy. We went no contact for 10 years now. Best thing we ever did.
Currently going through this now! We both have full time careers and from m-f, we are tired! We also have a new house and are now establishing our lives together and the in laws are pissed we haven’t dedicated our time and attention to them! They’ve started rumors about us with family members instead of talking to us. Husband has been great at keeping boundaries. Even when we visit (on rare occasion), he calls it out that we need to leave, even without telling me. I can tell my MIL hates me for it bc she doesn’t respond to me or react when I converse with her. I don’t understand people like this. We’re adults with responsibilities
Can they feed their sons with made up stories ( things that actually never happened) against their daughter in law, in an attempt to poison their son against their wife and then live with a sad face as if they have been victimized by their daughter in law?? Are such Mil's labelled narcissistic and if yes then which type?
My mil took it to the next level while I was goingout of my way to treat her with kindness! The ER is a famous one and she got together with her daughters and attacked me openly in front of my husband. After that she couldn't visit us anymore- they expected us to divorce quickly as she has a history of enmeshment with my husband and he'll miss her too much -God protected us and our marriage!
Mine shamed my ex so much it ruined our relationship. He made it right by her by saving his baby brother and allowing him live with us for 8 long years. What a better way to make it up to her than rescuing her youngest son and being her hero. Oh the crap they get away with. Can't imagine why it didn't work out. Theyre never at fault. Might as well adopted a child.
OMG - yes, I´ve got to get to know such a reptile mother in law and their flying monkeys - its a battle you hardly can get through in one life time, right....just make no contact and wish her hell - bc she´s the devil´s mother in law already......
