2 Truckers in my remaining family oldest brother John is STILL Driving 57 YEARS since age 20 ! No Wrecks my other brother Bob retired from active driving after 47 years he had one wreck he Jack knifed a load of 2 40 Foot lengths of Bridge Girder I Beam Steel 90 Thousand Pounds to save a school bus full of kids that crossed into his lane after hitting a patch of Black Ice he got out of the buses lane going down hill jack knifed got it straightend then all that steel an gravity did it's thing he jumped out as the girders sheared off the cab like a sharp blade cutting a tomato he got a broken arm facial injuries an a Citation for saving the lives of 32 kids an driver ! At Home he was a Monster ! Love the Trucker films me i worked on them !
Ah yes, back in the days when rigs had Armstrong steering & 2/55 units for air-conditioning, lol. 2/55 meaning, roll down 2 windows & travel 55 mph. These trucks today are like driving a Cadillac compared to those days. I remember twin-sticks, no radar detectors & the suicide box behind the cab they called the sleeper, lol. Trucking back then was REAL work compared to trucking today & I know because I just retired in 2005 from 32 years on the road. I can't count how many times I stopped at the Tucson Truck Terminal. That was one of my favorite greasy spoons. I see they now call it Mr. T's today & man has it changed. It's one of the few old truck stops still operating today. I sure do miss that magazine called "Overdrive" that was for truckers & I had won 3 times in the Model of the Month section of the magazine where they published the photos of your model & some information you posted about it. Those were the good old days for sure!
thx for your memories. I have been a big truck fan when I was a boy back in the 80s, and it were especially old school rigs like in this movie or e.g. the TranstarII I admired. But over the years I noticed and experienced, that trucking was and still is not as romantic as I believed then. Today I have the drivers lincense for class 8 trucks but I'm working a less stressful job. Thanks a lot to all truckers who do this hard work day by day.
The last time I was there in '97 they still came out and did everything for you! And it tuxedo coveralls no less. Now we stand outside in a blizzard pumping our own fuel, washing our own windows and there's nothing but crap to eat...
The last rig my grandpa drove before he retired was a black Mack CH613 that belongs to a company right here in my hometown of Newton, Iowa called Bisom. The reason why that he retired was because his legs were giving him trouble climbing in and out of the truck, so his bosses thought it'd be best to retire.
same thing happened to my Grandpa. His Nick name was "King Cole" & at one time he was the oldest trucker in Canada. He retired at 65 but couldn't handle being retired & went back to trucking about 2 years after retirement & drove into his 80's, he's finally retired now lol.
Sudsy Sutherland I knew a trucker named Jonny. He called himself the last native, he drove until he was 97 lol. Unfortunately he passed was at 102 years of age.
The producer of this movie was the founder/editor for Overdrive and Chuck Napier was a contributing writer for a while and driver of the Winnebago in the Blues Bros. I grew up reading that rag. I think Dad had a lifetime subscription.
Yes sir. Mike Parkhurst was way ahead of his time. He saw the BS we're heading into 40 years ago. The rag that's called "Overdive" these days is nothing but a sold out corporate propaganda piece, Mr Parkhurst is rolling over in his grave...
Well if u see a blue air valve between the red and yellow or somewhere near those two that actually was the magic fifth wheel release switch some later on had a thumb paddle switch where the differential lock and air bag dump and fifth wheel slide was located at especially on freight liners I never used it though everytime I tried em they would either jam up or just not release for shit
@ william mosco - Yes that is true, I've passed it several times over the last 4 + years truck driving. The sign alone tells the age of the establishment. 🚛🛣

Love the 70s low budget movies. I remember watching this when I was a kid in the mid 80s. Back when there was literally 5 or 6 channels on the tv. You had to adjust the antenna or rabbit ears to get it to come in half way decent. Back when the channels would play god bless America at midnight and go off the air until 6 am... And then cable and vcrs came out and that was huge. Then the first Nintendo, which I still have. Back in the day when kids were outside from dawn to dusk. Riding bikes or four wheelers, depending where you lived. But kids where outside everywhere, they had pool halls, or game rooms. The boys built club houses to see how many girls they could fingerbang in them.. Now the kids don't do shit, beside sit inside and stare at there phones/ tabs... I try telling my kids, but they can't comprehend what I'm saying, what they're missing. Idk, the internet is great in all, but it's also has destroyed the millennial generation, not all but a large majority of them. Anyways, isn't that the fella with the blond hair who played in the Blues Brothers movie? He was the leader of the good old boys band. He says something to Jake Blues, like how's it going to feel when I kick your fucking teeth in. Lol oh I miss those days.

why can't you get a tan like that if your a truck driver?? I driver truck for long hauls for two weeks & I'm off for two weeks & tan in the sun on my farm with my shirt off.
In England, it's just on the right side... In Wales... well, you're lucky if you see the sun... 40 days and 40 nights of rain... is just 5 weeks of summer to the Welsh.

Today's drivers are mostly school boys. They will not drive a rig that's not "store bought", nowadays. The trucks nowadays are like the new cars. They will pretty much drive there self. Most companies now have automatic transmissions in there trucks, because most modern drivers can't deal with changing gears on a crooked road going up or down hill. Compound all of that with a heavy or light load on a road covered in ice, maybe some packed snow. The real good ol' days when the interstate highway system was not common everywhere.
I've been driving since '77. Still don't like power steering. It's nice if you're in a tight parking lot but I hate it on the road. Nothing like "feeling" the road thru the steering wheel and that just don't happen with power steering. Heat and air are a different story but as for tv... haven't had a tv or cb for over 10 years nor do I need gps! Ever heard of maps?

nelinhakgb, do you have the movie Thunder Run (1986) with Forest Tucker? The only English version was taken down by youtube, and they don't sell this particular movie on DVD.
Mike Parkhurst was my hero when I was a screwed up teenager in the 70's. Overdrive magazine showed me that real men were facing way bigger challenges than I even knew. May he rest in peace... I met him about 10 years ago and he shared his screenplay for a movie he wanted made. Sadly, he passed away before it became a reality ... If ever there was a time for that movie to be made, it's now! Oh, and you know that the demoncrats aka globalists stole the election right? 3 million miles and a sore back later, keep on truckin!
@ Jon q doe- yes, like an early 70s horror movie. The Royal Truck Stop in Colton, California as well...roaches, overpriced items...and the nerve to have paid parking....
Not bad, dangerous Harley rockers & great trucks with a good sound ... What kind of engines do these Bulldogs have, by Mack ? The engine of the red COE looks like a V-engine and the R model like an inline 6. Greetings from south Germany
hand bombing was a common thing.. i did it for many years...i was still doing it in the early 90's we had forklift pallet jacks and electric pallet jacks too. skid freight is only a small part of trucking..highway truck tires are still loaded by hand..120 lbs apiece 8 feet wide ten feet high 52' long..
I did it by hand too, first job out of high school. ('79-'80) The guys from Willig and Higgins Freight took pride in working by hand. By the beginning of the following Summer, the girls were loving my muscles.
What did Charles Napier say to Richard Egan at the very end of the Movie? Egan said "Well I'll be..." & the camera turned to Napier and he whispered something to Egan & the movie ended..

Who else has used the triple T in Tuscon???? I stopped there alot in early 2000s.
It’s still there now. Quite a bit run down but still there
@@JNB4L Ya it was dated 20 years ago! Almost like a time capsule.

Where did they get those hats lol.
If you'd like to have a custom made replica of these, or any other hat, you can contact Art Fawcet or Peter's Bros.
This is before he screwed John Rambo over and got his base shot up.
Not bad, dangerous Harley rockers & great trucks with a good sound ... What kind of engines do these Bulldogs have, by Mack ? The engine of the red COE looks like a V-engine and the R model like an inline 6. Greetings from south Germany
Alot of those old Macks had Maxidine engines. Some would run Cummins.
Big cam 300 more than likely
They dnt make gud ole guys like u kno mo Texas hi-railer. Wishn 4 continue a happy retirement!!!
they loaded that truck by hand how crazy why didnt they use a forklift dont say they never had one they have them
hand bombing was a common thing.. i did it for many years...i was still doing it in the early 90's we had forklift pallet jacks and electric pallet jacks too. skid freight is only a small part of trucking..highway truck tires are still loaded by hand..120 lbs apiece 8 feet wide ten feet high 52' long..
I did it by hand too, first job out of high school.
('79-'80)
The guys from Willig and Higgins Freight took pride in working by hand.
By the beginning of the following Summer, the girls were loving my muscles.

Yes in deed!
Just one other guy and me (the new guys) did an entire boxcar of school bound construction paper with hand trucks.
Marty Robbins
How many of today's drivers could "split" a two stick Mack?
Shit None ! Most can't even drive the regular standards now.
What did Charles Napier say to Richard Egan at the very end of the Movie? Egan said "Well I'll be..." & the camera turned to Napier and he whispered something to Egan & the movie ended..
Egan said, well I will be, and Napier mouthed, a son of a bitch.
DosChuck Napier remind u of Chuck Connors
