Puts a smile on my face still seeing jev push out great content and evolving with the og faze fans not being afraid to change it up and adapt instead of still just trying to do the same shtick and catering to kids who didnt even grow up in the faze era like the other og faze members. I've been watching faze since before they were in the ny house since I was in middle school im almost 23 now and jev is the only one i can truly say I still watch and genuinely enjoy. Dudes channel really has aged like wine and im never disappointed when I get one of his vids on my recommendations always a pleasure.

Once this game clicks, there’s no game thats more satisfying to play. If you can get past the learning curve, this game is second to none.

Hesitation is defeat
I had way more trouble on the Chained Ogre than a lot of the other bosses. Unironically one of the hardest fights in the game
@@jimmy22334 chained ogre, snake eyes shirahagi, and first phase guardian ape are always so difficult for me

Idk I like guardian ape second phase and corrupted and true monk fights the most.
They really went into that parry heavy playstyle without having to run 20ft to keep the posture bar up

Hey, Jev. When enemies do those sweeping attack with the Red symbol above their heads, you jump over them and press the jump button again to jump on their heads. It does posture damage and is safer than risk getting hit while dodging. Obviously thrusting attacks, you use Mikiri counter. Dodging isn't really that useful in this game as compared to deflecting.

W series Jev. When an enemy does a sweep attack, jump into them instead of away and you can double jump on their head, which takes away a large chunk of posture. Luv you

once you master the genichiro fight on top of the tower it becomes so fucking beautiful
@@snes6101Fr its become my favorite boss oat. I sat down and did a No skill art, no consumable, no damage, no prosthetic run and had fun the whole time, and i will often hop on the game to just re fight him a few times
Tip: You can perform the Mikiri counter without touching the analog sticks at all. Simply press the counter button, and it activates. A lot of people overlook this and either figure out how to compensate or struggle with consistency.
Is that true? Although that it was forward on the stick and circle/A at the same time. I’ll have to try it out

I actually found it easier and more consistent with using the analog .
All you do is press dodge. However pressing dodge by itself makes you do a backstep which might mess with the counter registration if you get out of range or wtv. I personally recommend just doing forward + dodge for consistency
This is just not true. Its forward dodge just tapping o forcing a backstep no matter what
So excited to see u play this, I beat this game for the first time literally last week because I was sick and I can say it’s so fun. Isshin Sword Saint wasn’t as bad as I had heard he’d be but the fact there are 4 phases made it feel like more of a marathon. Demon of Hatred however I found to be the hardest boss I’ve ever fought in any game

Hey Jev, I saw that others have already commented this, but just to make sure you see it lol. If an enemy does a sweeping attack, you can jump over it, press jump again, and this will allow you to deal more posture damage. I'm so glad a video was made, hopefully it'll be a series in the future!
Really enjoying the series, been way too long since I've seen this game.
Small tip to help with combat: You regen your 'stance' a LOT quicker if you hold block, it just helps you get back to combat quicker and leaves less down-time between when its safe to attack.

one last tip, if you dont see the red symbol you can quite literally parrt everything, sometimes with a small health penalty but a good strategy for this game is to actually just parry everything, plus its cool as fuck
Jev I gotta say, every time I’d start a first play of a souls game, you make a video of you playing it shortly after. So I get to see you experience things I recently dealt with and I love playing through at the same time. Keep the content coming I love it man

Some tips:
-Buy mikiri counter immeditely
-Invest in sugars (ako's is the best)
-Do all optional minibosses for more health
-Deflect deflect deflect (unless red kanji)
- There is no one good shinobi prostethic, use what is best for the situation
-Invest in any skill that causes quicker posture breaking

When he gets to guardian ape i told his friend to use the mortal draw and jev said it was to op, so i wonder if he will use it
@@bananaman4613 He's kinda right. Mortal draw is pretty overpowered against bosses that don't deflect. For me, torching the monke with the flame vent is super fun.
I just started playing this and i am excited to see Jev play it! My first From Soft game is Elden Ring and it opened my eyes to so many other game they made and also just being more open to trying new games in general. Forever thankful for From Soft for this!

Hey jev, quick two tips, for those samurai with the guile suits that you thought you could swing through, you are partially right. Hold the attack button to do a heavy stab and the guy fumbles it every time. Second tip, when u get the shield for the prosthetic, you can use it to deflect all attacks including grabs, and also magic and fire stuff when you get the upgrades except sweep attacks.
This my favorite game, once you get to geniricho you get hooked
My favorite game of all time as well. I remember vividly once I beat Genichiro and the whole combat system clicked in my head finally and the rest is history.

I’m also playing through Sekiro now, nearly beat the game and can genuinely say the combat is the best out of any fromsoft game once it clicks, so satisfying to parry a boss and kill it without being hit

I was so happy up till isshin, even owl didn't bore me as much and he just does the same attacks and jumps away lol

Everyone likes different things, but isshin was boring every single ending/playthrough for me. I don't respect the laziness of a 4 phase boss just to tire you out and pad play time.
Give me a harder boss with 2 phases. Even 3 is fine if first phase is a freebie like geniricho is, but 4 is just...slow
The boss rush gauntlets are more fun imo

Jev is doing pretty well for returning to this game after the first time he quit. Keep it up, this will be a fun series for sure
Jev as someone who has the platinum I really wanna push the notion that prosthetics and skill arts can make your experience so much better. A lof of first playthroughs I see tend to ignore or only really stick to one prosthetic like the firecracker the whole time, and while you can definitely beat the game parry and regular attack only I think its doing the game a disservice to ignore all the cool abilities at your potential disposal.
Mixing and matching them on top of the parry + counter slash gameplay loop really makes this game one of the greatest of all time in terms of combat. Upgraded versions of the Shuriken and Spear are my personal favourites and the Umbrella is also a highly effective tool for most fights.
I used them, but pretty sparingly. Axe for shields, shuriken for flying enemies, spear for guardian ape phase 2. Never felt that they helped all that much, despite getting every single prosthetic.
@@thetoyodacar2264 Go to Ongbal’s channel and watch his gameplay, using everything at your disposal vs parry/katana only is a night and day comparison.
But like you said they do have their practical uses, its just more of a fun experience experimenting imo

Don't forget for the red unblockable attacks you can jump on enemies heads for posture damage, works well with Genichurro, also dont forget about the mikiri counter for blocking thrust attacks!

hopefully helpful tip - the action queueing system in Sekiro is very similar to souls, but with the key difference being that you can cancel out of an attack during the startup frames if you happen to land a perfect parry. It's especially useful for enemies that counterattack at the same pace or faster than you. Many of the weapon arts and prosthetic combos will also let you land a perfect parry before recovery frames allow you to dodge.

8:25 Pro tip: Whenever bosses/mini bosses perform an unblockable sweep attack press jump twice towards them to Goomba stomp them, it increases their posture bar quite a bit
