Holy shit! You gotta watch this kids! If you hunt or shoot this might just be the single most concise and useful video on UA-cam. It might be the most well done informative video of all time. Where was this 20+ years ago? This is literally all of the information I've acquired through timeless research and trial and error over 30 years summed up and wrapped in a friggin bow.
The best advice I was ever given, and it took 10 years to finally do it. Spend as much on your scope as you do on your rifle. It’s easy to get $500 rifles to shoot sub moa. it’s hard to get really good scopes for cheap
Meh. Depends on what you’re doing. If you just need to zero and not turn dials, then a one inch tube scope that’s a couple hundred dollar is perfectly fine.
I've been shooting/hunting for about 35 years and I've been reminded of many great principals just now. Great advice on this video, especially avoiding all the bells and whistles. And there are almost too many good options these days. Hard to decide on what to get, so I appreciate your reviews.
Outstanding, solid outline & advice. Really brings even the most seasoned scopesman, back into focus. It’s easy to get caught up & retain misinformation, even when you know better. Thanks for the re-zero !
My favorite hunting radical is either a illuminated. Dot and a duplex. Or years ago Redfield had a Accu range radical. That was a circle around the crosshairs and I found that to be awesome for target acquisition.
Great video if you are looking at getting your first quality scope. My favorite is a ffp mpvo. The 2.5-10x44 and 4-16x50 I have are a dream to get behind
I have wasted so much money on scopes over the years. As a hunter who likes to shoot here are my suggestions Second focal. First reticle is too small sitting in the woods on 3 power unless illuminated. I like 12-15 top end for putting holes in paper. I like 2-3 on the low side. So that means I need a 4-5x scope and that just made it more expensive I bought a Burris 4.5-14 and while it was great on paper 4.5 on the low end was too much in the woods. I’ve settled on 3-15 x44 scopes.
I agree with all the comments that say what a useful video this is. I have spent a lot of money on those "diminishing" return scopes and have no regrets, but it's discouraging to see people who are starting out or who have limited budgets make poor choices. Excellent advice.
Wished I had found you before I bought my first scope- But my next purchases were made by your recommendations and I have not been disappointed (not to mention the Joe C’s discounts!) Thanks, Joe!
For most of the southeast, a second focal plane variable power scope under 12 power is the way to go. For upclose in a dark setting the first focal plane high power scopes are just about useless. Another great vid Joe.
Great info as always! I have bought many scopes due to Cyclops reviews. I’m not brand loyal, I’m quality loyal. Spend time here. Get a winner every time
Excellent content! Been looking @ lots of videos & articles for rifle scope tutorial & still confused. Trying to keep things as simple as possible w/ the best glass I can afford for aging eyes... Thank you for summing this up in less than 10 min.
As a rimfire shooter I prefer fixed power scopes. I have found anything between 4x to 12x more than adequate. No frills and less stuff to break. The new Athlon fixed 10x and the Primary arms 6x with ACSS reticle designed for 22LR are excellent as are SWFA and the Hawke fixed 4x. The old. Japanese Bushnell scopes are also excellent buys. One can shoot accurately and be competitive in rimfire on a small budget.
@ Those old Redfield, Weaver and Japanese Bushnells and Tascos work just as well today as they did decades ago. After all they don’t know how old they are.
Joe!! Another great, very informative video! Help me with this. My daughter and I were hunting last weekend, and she was complaining she could not get a proper sight picture through the "older" Leupold VX3 6.5-20X40, 30mm tube, duplex scope. The scope was set on about 12X for a 126-yard shot. From what she said, she couldn't get a full field of view, Moving her head back and forth. Probably inexperience and no trigger time behind it is the main problem. Which scope would you suggest I look at to replace the Lupy? Just for hunting under 300 yards, simple reticle, re duplex. I believe one of your previous videos, you talked about the Burris Drop tine for its wide eye box/field of view. Looking under $1000 +/-. Thanks!!
Hi Joe I purchased a scope.Price was one of the main factors .But I was pleasantly surprised with my buy I know people tend to buy brand name. You’ve never done a revue for a Nikko Stirling diamond long range 4/16/50 here in Australia some scope you quote are 600 US here they end up around 1300 Australian so my Nikko cost me 320 Aussie.dollars ,it is my first scope it’s awesome any thoughts/comments interested to hear your opinion plus dealers here just want your money in wads 😂love your channel
Great information Joe. If you are a long time viewer and scope snob like me; don’t buy a Leupold VX Freedom scope, or something like that. I put one on a Ruger m77 22 Hornet and it just made me bitchy. 400 wasted. I ordered a Meopta optica 5 4-20x50 that’s a 1 inch tube scope. From optics force and use cyclops discount code Ty Joe. Now I’m happy. Moral of the story new guys; Joe will save you money. I knew better, but I screwed the pooch. For me a scope like The VX Freedom ain’t for me.
Nothing wrong with the scope. For what it is; it’s a good scope. I’m Used to looking at much better glass. I was just trying to get some glass on the little 22 Hornet. I should have just ordered what I needed.
Nope.Wrong! First scope should be a $40.00 Barska from Wallyworld so you suffer the same as I did. After you fight that thing for a while then upgrade. You'll appreciate it way more!!!!😲😅🤣😂

Wow, thanks for the super nice compliment. I was trying to make it as concise as I could, but also try to make it as complete as I could.
@@CyclopsJoeVideos I spent $25,000 on my first scope,

Great primer for new shooters and a good review for the old guns. Nicely done.
Thank you
Great show and thanks again for the info my friend and have a great day Joe 👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
Thanks, you too!

I still have one of those somewhere. I’ll have to dig it out.
@ I would buy it from you if you wanted to sell it especially if it was a 3 to 9 x 50 or the 4 to 12
Great advice Joe
SFP for hunting and FFP for range and steel target shooting. Damn good job Joe!
Best optic reviews on UA-cam, bar none ‼️ Luv those Arken’s. My bank account hates you.
Thanks for the kind words. I don’t know if it’s the best on UA-cam, but it’s the best I can do.
very good info Joe!
Thanks!
You just hit on what would be a great video. The scope companies that give you the most for your money.

Attach a camera to the back of a 2nd fp scope and it becomes a 1st fp scope and you can get greater magnification. Yes/ no?
No, that’s not how they work

Listen to Joe he will definitely save you from buying a piece of crap. Thanks Joe for taking the time to do the scope reviews so we don't have to ❤
Thanks for that man . I am not the best youtuber or nothing . But least I’m honest
I just ordered a Leica Amplus 6 as my first high dollar scope.
Oh man, that is a bad ass scope you were gonna love it

Good info.
So what would you recommend for a Daisy Red Rider 😁
Zero compromise they’re around $4000 but worth every penny lol
I can remember the first time I put a scope on a springer, the cross hair became an X !
Fortunately, it was a cheap scope.
Springers are hell on scopes
We done Joe... keep your eye open for " charlie"..he is a sneaky bastard.😊
Lol
What's you thoughts on the hawke frontier 3-18x50 34mm tube thanks Joe for any information
That’s a really good scope and great glass for the money
Scope tube for me is 1.0" to 30MM, nothing bigger than that.
What, no trash talk about Vortex, Joe?
Love your videos!
Thanks . I’ll trash em again soon
I don't think the .22WRF got or gets the love it deserves. I like the cartridge.
I have had several . The ammo cost keeps mine on the shelf usually
