I haven't heard those particular KLIPSCH Tower Speakers. But, you brought up an interesting point. The boominess problem with towers - in general - is something that I noticed from time to time. I think lots of it has to do with room interaction as opposed to cabinet resonance exclusively. What I found from time to time is that the best place for 'sound staging' is not the best place for bass - or vica versa. Going with a stand mounted/bookshelf speaker along with a subwoofer seems to mitigate the room problem to some extent. You can place the main speakers where they give the best music or movie sound. And, you can place the subwoofer in the room where it gives whatever kind of bass that you like. Also, I discovered that even towers need a subwoofer anyways in many cases.

I just recently purchased the Klipsch R-800F floorstanders and I really like them. In the past I had Klipsch Synergy F3 floorstanders. I also recently purchased a Yamaha Aventage Rx-A2a A/V receiver. I have a Klipsch 7.1 Surround Sound system. My new subwoofer is the Klipsch R-80SWi
I bid on a pair of Q 3050s from an estate sale based on your previous review. I won them and I was really blown away. As a die hard Klipsch fan (the rest of my gear is Klipsch) the Qs have become my favorite.
Excellent review and info !! Fine comments here too. Speaker drivers are so complex - often the cone materials alone account for tone and color, the frame basket in resonance and dynamics, and electro magnetics can effect articulation with gaps in linearity. I once compared several similar 12" drivers in side by side test unmounted in open baffle form for tone and color. What a surprise that test was.
I got the 6000f ii for $450 Ives tested both the 8000f ii and 6000f ii and belive it or not the 6000f ii hits slightly harder it didn't drop off as fast as the 8s and the mid range was better probably because 6inchs are better for mids anyways
I used to have R-820F, which are predecessors to R-800F, and all you said here is applicable to R-820Fs as well. I could not live with them and I sold them after a less than a year of ownership. Muddy bass, tweeters piercing my ears, total lack of midrange, cabinet resonance, narrow soundstage.... That makes me think that Klipsch just changed the looks a bit, but essentially those are the same speakers. I tried 2 different amplifiers (Rotel and Marantz), and I could not make them sound any good. But I must admit that they sounded very differently with different amps, but still sound was lacking for me. Speaker positioning did not make a difference either. To be honest, I am happy I got rid of them. Sorry Klipsch.
Great review as always. According to their respective spec sheets, the Klipsch R800F is 43 x10.9 x 17.5 inches. While the JBL the Stage a190 is 42.1 x 10.2 x 14.6. So the Klipsch is actually larger than the JBLs even if they don't seem as massive.
I stand corrected! I will say visually the JBL appear larger (to me) and even side by side I thought they were bigger. I appreciate the info!! Also, Kristi is smiling ear to ear knowing she was right ;).
I've been saying for awhile now to avoid the reference line and only look at reference premiere. For newer models. Klipsch has done a marketing move that in my opinion was not in favor of consumer's. They killed the synergy line and made it the reference line. And the old reference is now reference premiere. While this would be acceptable as a starting point considering the used market it makes things highly confusing as to which models are worth your attention and which are not. I personally fell for this when purchasing a new set of towers but returned them after only 30 min of listening and purchased the rp-280f which are very similar to the rp8000f. Great review!
I have heard the F800 series and though all of them were very good. They are not some refined speaker for listen to some fine operatic singing but they are more than capable of dealing with Rock, dance, hip hop and other genres.
I absolutely love my RP-8000's. I imagine these sound very similar. They are very controlled, so I'm not sure if that's because of my receiver or what, but they sound great.
I am a pro musician, sound is more important to me than just about anything. That being said when I see speaker reviews in the listening market I always wonder one thing.... Why dont people just mildly treat their listening room to cut the reverb down and just buy a set of good but affordable studio monitors and run those with a matching sub? If its good enough for the people who create the music people listen to then why isnt it good enough for the people listening to the music? It would seem people would want to hear the music as the artist intended. As an artist that isnt rich, I personally use the Yamaha H5's ONLY because my studio is medium sized and I am using the matching sub, if my room were larger I would use the H8's. I would bet a pair of H8's and the sub would sound incredible. I record mostly with headphones and do my playback on the Yamahas I also use a crappy set of speakers to check my mixes, because if I can make a mix sound good on them, it will sound great on better speakers.
Glad I went with the Polk Audio xt70 they sound amazing. I did the sound test in best buy with the Klipsch and they sounded muffled. They did look amazing the sound wad horrendous to me though. I currently have 2 front xt70, 2 xt90, 2 xt20 for rear and xt35 for center. No subwoofer is needed. I paired them with a Denon reciever and put them on surround and man I love it. ❤️
Dang, those videos have got to be hard to do. Knowing how much you love Klipsch. Everyone misses once in a while. Have a great vacation see you in a couple weeks.
As referenced in this review (briefly) the original RP-8000F is selling for $500 a speaker right now with the new version having come out. At this price, the RP-8000F is a GREAT value. I love mine.
I actually have some experience with the older R-820f. I purchased an open box pair for my father on a deal. I actually thought they sounded pretty good for the price. I agree the bass is a bit coloured, and yes the mids are a bit scooped out, but on my living room integrated (NAD C316) they sounded really good. I will say that they are VERY Dependant on the amplifier though. Once we hooked them up to my dad's old Pioneer VSX-9500s, it was AWFUL. He later purchased a brand new NAD recieved, and we're back in business.
I love my RF 820f I've had them for 4 years, I run them on a 2 channel base X Amp and they're just right, however they sound much better on my Crown amplifier...I switch them around occasionally... I'm going to use them for rears and get the Polk R 700 for my next tower..
I mean... I totally understand if you don't want acoustic treatment in ur room, but after I put up some cheap polyester panels on their first reflection points, my r-610f's improved greatly in their detail and sweet airiness, even though they already had a ton of clarity. And what is up with people wanting good deep bass from a speaker when whatever bass they have below 60-80Hz is NOTHING compared to crossing them over to subwoofers? Assuming the sub isn't terrible of course.
@@Pete.across.the.street No, I don't think it's an honest review just because it's a negative review, Andrew has gave positive reviews on other Klipsch speakers, so obviously he has got nothing against the company, so why didn't he give a rave review on this particular model? Because I'm sure that everything he said was everything he heard.
Thank you Andrew! - and THANK YOU KRISTI ('Ahahaha - are you sure about that? ah boy' - Perfect)! In simple words - this review shows how great you are at your jobs. You are able to convey truth about products to the point.
Hello I would like to ask You what is the better choice for home theater and listening of music in the room which has 24 square meters? I’m thinking about HECO AURORA 1000 or Klipsch R-600f II? In the beginning I think about R-600f II or R-800f II but after Your review I started thinking about HECO AURORA 1000. What do You think about this? Thank You for Your ansver and have a nice day.
I owned and loved the mid nineties Klipsch Epic cf-3 and the Kg 5.5. They benefited from adding Rockwool insulation and I also added wooden internal horizontal bracing. Striking deep bass. I also damped the horns with a rubberized wrap on. Those plastic horns became well tempered and concise. Which were using crispy Crites custom tweeters. Resonance be gone! Not seeking out any newer Klipsch. Primary now are Martin Logan’s Esl x. Yes I’ve seen your reviews. Thanks for great content! 👍🏽
I'be been using KG 5.5s and a KV-3 with Crites tweeters for years. I just replaced my KV-3 with an RP-450C and I gotta say I'm not as blown away by it that I thought I'd be. I was going to replace the 5.5s but now I'm second guessing myself. One woofer on my right side is on its way out and will pop in 2ch mode, maybe I'll just repair the KGs
What people forget is that with the surface area of all of the speaker panels, the panels don't have to vibrate very much (not much movement) to be putting out as much sound,or more, as the drivers themselves.
Sorry if it’s a little off topic but I’m trying to get informed opinion about the RP 5000F. Unfortunately I just can’t find any good reviews about them. Size wise they look to be the perfect fit to an average sized room but I might be wrong…Any thoughts?
I’m moving to a new built that comes with pre wired in ceiling cutouts. 5 total, would you recommend a 5.1 all in ceiling set up, or a combination of floor and atmos ceiling speakers? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the shout out on the r-50m, picked up an open box on them from bestbuy for $180 and there aren't many reviews. Using them as my front channels with an atmos system with 2 subs. Feel like I made a good choice, time will tell. I will stuff the ports per your recommendation, thanks.
great job. I know how hard it can be to give a critical review when a manufacturer is very generously providing a sample. I think you did well recommending some better products from klipsch.
I have some dated speakers and I want to start upgrading…these 800s were definitely on my list. Here’s the deal I have some stuff from the 90s… front speakers are technics A51 speakers. Budget is a factor. I just got the Klipsch R121 subwoofer…would love to hear some thoughts. Definitely enjoy the review videos you put out
Just got a r41m + r820f + r34c system. Wondering if I made a huge mistake after watching this review😅. The comparable tower speakers in this review are much more expensive than I got the 820Fs for though. And this will be paired with a sub and an rz50 with Dirac, I’m hoping it won’t be as bad as the review is making it out to be.
to the r-50m’s as long as they have more bass than my tv then i’m more than happy i was already planning on getting a sub anyways for them so im exited for them to come in! one question tho will 175watts max be enough to run them good? because the max is 300 i believe on those bookshelf speakers
Man these new klipsch, tannoy xt8f, polk r700, or monitor audio silver 500 which would you pick and whats the over best towers for the price out of these brands? They all sound excellent but i just want some amazing decent priced speakers for music i wanna pair it with 2 subs as well and need the proper equipment too power it as well. Also my basement is pre wired for 7 in ceiling speakers that will be paired with this all in the future but i just need a stereo system too listen too and two start i just want two towers and two subs.
I have a pair of RP-8000s and I was over the moon. So when my brother was looking for a pair of speakers I recommended Klipsch. His budget could only afford him a pair of R620-f. He really liked the sound as I am sure it was a significant upgrade from his previous experience. But to me it was really terrible and all the tinkering we did with settings could not save it in my opinion. He was happy and I wasn't going to take that from him. The sound quality between a RP and a Reference I think is very noticeable.
I will say that while the NEW Reference line appears to look A LOT like Reference Premiere, the differences in build quality are immediately apparent when evaluating both side by side and it is the build quality. Even though the RP line has been designed to a budget too, the added investment in the cabinet pays off!
I’m powering these with Marantz cinema 50, adjusted internal eq to my ears, I’m using Bose passive cubes for a center removed from a Bose system. Robinson, this could change your mind about Klipsch R800 f
I still dont understand how the 8-ohms spec is…. It has 2 speaker connection per stand… each one is 8 ohms, can I parallel them to connect a Sonos amp that goes down to 4 ohms output? It is both speaker connected in serial that has the 8 ohms spec? What would be the ohms if I add the Atmos speaker to the integrated port in the back of the speaker stand?? So many question about this, the speaker manual dont help a bit
I actually believe Klipsch is saturating the market with coming out with new speakers. How much really has their new line improved over their older ones? Not enough in my opinion to go out and upgraded. I have the RF-7 ll’s , have had them for eight years and not upgrading until these stop working. And if I do upgrade, I’m definitely want to venture out and try another brand. Thanks for your honest and straightforward reviews. Great work here!
I discovered, much to my chagrin, that my 800's (older) were made in Chyna. Never even checked when I was buying them, didn' t know Klipsch had gone down the tubes. I notice you didn't mention that in your review. Is it the same for the reference series?
I have the 820 Fs about the same speakers. They have no insulation on the inside of these things. I fixed the boominess with car audio material then made my own crossovers and it made a huge difference. Also baffling the port tightens up the bass.
Thanks for your review. I’m impressed that Klipsch speaker doesn’t measure well or doesn’t sound well (sometimes, both). As UA-camrs are getting measurement equipment everyone can see that most of the times there is something wrong with their products. I have a pair of old reference RB51II and if I live at US where there is a plenty of free return stores, I would try a different speaker for me.
Hi Andrew. I’m looking for a new sound bar. My living area space isn’t too big but I love watching movies and having great sound. I have a 75 inch tv and need a sound bar that is more on the budget friendly side but packs a nice crisp and clean sound with some nice pinch from the sound bar. What would you recommend?
While the JBL Stage series is newer as a low cost option, the older Studio 5 series gets way more love. They were designed by Greg Timbers, and when they're on sale they're crazy inexpensive. Would love if you could give those a review, particularly the Studio 580s. Pretty sure I'm gonna grab a pair when they go on sale next.
Hi there Kristi and Andrew! Is there any change that you guys review the Wharfedale Evo 4.4? I would like to know what you think of these loudspeakers. Thanks in advance!
So I am wanting to grab a modest surround system. The old reference line is SUPER budget friendly right now and I like how the upward atmos speaker is hidden in the tower of like the R826 I think is what it is… is there a a better line including the the atmos speakers that is comparable for similar cost without breaking the bank or am I better just saving for a Polk set up (R700 fronts, 200 rears, etc)
@@KristiWright Wow thank you for the recommendation! I may have forgot about the focals 😅! (I used to use them all the time in car audio setups back in the day haha, K2s for life lol)! I appreciate it and thank you and Andrew for you honest and real world opinions/reviews. I have a set of fives in my office thanks to you all that I love ❤
Klipsch RP160M on sale for $199 also the fluance reference $129 and signature $169 both on sale. I'm thinking Klipsch? Like Fluance though and for the price what do you think?
@@andrewrobinsonreviews I know you like the Fluance XL8s reference bookshelf and might have the more neutral sound signature and for $130. But the discontinued (Newegg, Amazon) Klipsch RP-160M for $200 seems like the better value? I already own a complete Jamo CS system including the 12" sub. It replaced a Fluance SX System with a Polk 10" sub. Interested in auditioning the Klipsch. Guess I answered my own question?
Thank you Andrew and Kristi for the quick response. I just bought the 8000f 2’s and 150 sub that came with the deal . I’m leaning towards the Cambridge 100 amp to power but feel it may not be enough for the speakers. Would really appreciate your thoughts on that . The last system I had years ago was a Tfm 55x carver amp powering Cerwin Vega d7 speakers. Your reviews are definitely helpful full and realistic unlike other reviewers I have seen.

I thought you were super cute when you said "intelligibility" trying to make it as intelligible as humanly possible. 😁😎
Interesting. Was not expecting that. I’ve never heard them before. Always really compelling reviews on here. Thank you.
Thanks, Harry!
Q knows how to make a speaker if I do say so myself.
Sorry Klipsch.
try Dali Oberon 7, much much better speakers in all aspects! Klipsch design is perfect but sound is poor. It can be good only for metal music.
Unexpected but it’s good to hear all the information on why they didn’t work for you. The sibilance would drive me spare on it’s own.
You guys are the best, thanks for the honest review
Thanks for watching!
Dang, those videos have got to be hard to do. Knowing how much you love Klipsch. Everyone misses once in a while. Have a great vacation see you in a couple weeks.
We'll be back next Sunday (no Thursday video) but thank you and have a great week yourself!
As referenced in this review (briefly) the original RP-8000F is selling for $500 a speaker right now with the new version having come out. At this price, the RP-8000F is a GREAT value. I love mine.
Only 398
@@reygenabraham7564 even better :)
ICYMI - there is a mini review of the NEW R-50M speakers in this video. ☺️
Spot on about being amp dependant.
I love my RF 820f I've had them for 4 years, I run them on a 2 channel base X Amp and they're just right, however they sound much better on my Crown amplifier...I switch them around occasionally... I'm going to use them for rears and get the Polk R 700 for my next tower..
Appreciate the honesty!. Thanks.
Thanks for the no nonsense and honest review.
Always! Thanks for watching.
@@Pete.across.the.street Is honesty only conveyed through a negative review?
@@Pete.across.the.street No, I don't think it's an honest review just because it's a negative review, Andrew has gave positive reviews on other Klipsch speakers, so obviously he has got nothing against the company, so why didn't he give a rave review on this particular model? Because I'm sure that everything he said was everything he heard.
I love the sound of these speakers, the bass is so deep and rich.
I think it is great that you give your true opinion and not giving a false good review
We NEVER give false positives or negatives.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews And I appreciate that!!
Thank you Andrew! - and THANK YOU KRISTI ('Ahahaha - are you sure about that? ah boy' - Perfect)! In simple words - this review shows how great you are at your jobs. You are able to convey truth about products to the point.
Great job, thanks for the heads up :) have fun on vacation!

You should review JBL Studio 590/580 speakers. These go on sale for $800 / $600 per pair, free shipping, no tax.
Any chance you'll get a look at the RF-7 III series? Though they're both floor standing towers, I'm curious if they compare to the Forte IV?
Fortes and RF7 III have similar midbass punch and both are very detailed.
However the rf7s have a midrange dip that the Fortes don't.
Wow. The big K might be a bit miffed, but you pointed out how to rectify and other Big K options. Good job - Happy Vacation
Thank you for the honest review. I really enjoy the work you both do on your channel. Still loving my Emotiva XPA HC-1 Monos!
What people forget is that with the surface area of all of the speaker panels, the panels don't have to vibrate very much (not much movement) to be putting out as much sound,or more, as the drivers themselves.
Im hooked to your videos. I am always looking forward to new vids
Glad you like them!
I just commented on a clip two years ago....yup, I'm a winner.
Great job with the reviews!
great job. I know how hard it can be to give a critical review when a manufacturer is very generously providing a sample. I think you did well recommending some better products from klipsch.
Yea I agree looking at it killer looks shame the sound does not match what we see thx guys ..
Definitely enjoy the review videos you put out
Loved watching the review, -surprised at the outcome. Hopefully someone at klipsch will pick up on this and do something about the resonance. Ouch!
Would you still take the klipsch R-50M and Jbl A130s over the flaunce xl8s bookshelf?
Thanks for the link's to the better stuff.
Always! Kristi has your back.
🙌
Hi I have the old 820Fs in a bi amp configuration with the 51Ms you have the best of both worlds and it sounds amazing in my opinion
What if you got these as a gift? Do you recommend having them returned and something else bought? These are my first floorstanding speakers.
Awesome review as usual. Please review the Stage 130 with the Aiyima A07 class D amp.
Looking forward to seeing how the Klipsch Rp 8000r II compares to the Polk R700.
Which one should you buy?🤔
You are the best🙏

to the r-50m’s as long as they have more bass than my tv then i’m more than happy i was already planning on getting a sub anyways for them so im exited for them to come in! one question tho will 175watts max be enough to run them good? because the max is 300 i believe on those bookshelf speakers
My question is now if i want to start with a 2.1 system to update later, should i go Jamo S 803 or R-50M?
What did you get?
I went with the R-50M's and I'm pretty pleased with how it sounds..
Which are the Sony speakers you are referring to towards the end of the video?
are you will review for RP-6000f ii?
Thanks Andrew about the latest Klipsch review. If possible could you please review some our Finnish speaker maker Genelec product.
They've never approached us for a review but I would certainly welcome one!
I’m powering these with Marantz cinema 50, adjusted internal eq to my ears, I’m using Bose passive cubes for a center removed from a Bose system. Robinson, this could change your mind about Klipsch R800 f
How about Dynavoice Definition DF-8 as a comparison? I think this one is a bit more balanced and nice out of the box.
@andrew can you please review RP8000F II as well
I still dont understand how the 8-ohms spec is…. So many question about this, the speaker manual dont help a bit
these are good. have you reviewed the Klipsch RF7iii?
I actually believe Klipsch is saturating the market with coming out with new speakers. How much really has their new line improved over their older ones? Not enough in my opinion to go out and upgraded. I have the RF-7 ll’s , have had them for eight years and not upgrading until these stop working. And if I do upgrade, I’m definitely want to venture out and try another brand. Thanks for your honest and straightforward reviews. Great work here!
👍 Yeah what's the point to buy new speakers every few years
I bought My first new pair of towers ever this year and I went with the RF 82 Mk IIs. Im very happy with them :)
Hello,
What is the difference in your opinion between the r-800f and rp8000 f ii?
Is the sound quality the same for both?
Night and day difference
You're hair is looking fantastic brother!
*not a hair transplant* ©
Thanks!
How did you do all those things?
If you are looking for a built in atmos speaker, we really enjoyed these bit.ly/3yJfM8R. They are currently on sale at a pretty nice discount!
How do these fare vs the SVS Ultra Towers? I’d love to see your review on those speakers as well.
Any chance you can review rp 8000 f II
Klipsch RP160M on sale for $199 also the fluance reference $129 and signature $169 both on sale. I'm thinking Klipsch? Like Fluance though and for the price what do you think?
I have not heard them all so I'm afraid I can't advise you. Sorry!
Klipsch watching this review... 👁👄👁
Low end klipsch is awesome for certain types of listeners, but not many. Love the honesty and measured review!!
Which Klipsch range for Atmos is really good?
Interested in ‘plugging the port’ what do you recommend to use as a ‘plug’. Thanks
You can use a thick sock or go with something like found here amzn.to/3Beldzl.
The AXR100 will be enough, though you may want to also take a peek at something like a Rotel, NAD or Audiolab to better handle the woofers.
Thank you so much for the advice, will also check out your recommendations.
Awesome review! What brand are those tripod speaker stands the F-50M's were standing on?
Thank you for your honesty! I would be curious for you to try the triangle BR03 / BR08 serie especially for home theater
I'm assuming that he wouldn't like the 600F either that are on sale right now at best buy
