If you're curious, the patient gave a bad history and insisted he had never been anywhere tropical despite having been to South Florida, he had a tropical disease and that's why none of his doctors ever caught it. (And technically speaking geographically, yes, Florida is not tropical, it's subtropical, the tropic of Cancer is about 130 KM south of Key West, 30 KM north of Havana, so Florida isn't GEOGRAPHICALLY tropical, just subtropical, but Climate wise being so close and being totally coastal, yes, south florida does count.)
What does anyone have to live for? He is no less deserving than anyone else. And "people like him"? People who had been left to die? He was scared and left without choice, he was never cruel or cowardly
Most humans, 98% of us, have an inbuilt instinct to survive no matter what. Their fear of death is so all consuming they will do almost anything to avoid dying. Even if after they do it, they wouldn't want to live anyways.
At that point who cares what's wrong with him he already held hostages and shot someone, he's definitely going to jail. There was no coming back from this.
Up until House had him in the CT scanner, it was a hostage situation. House took his gun because he was sure it was cancer and the guy was going to trade his freedom for a confirmation. But when House saw no tumor, he became interested. He purposely kept the hostage situation going because he personally wanted to know what was wrong with him. So to anwer your question, at this point, House cares.
it's like throwing your child to the lions. the lion does what the lion does, you killed your child. he could have killed 13 if it wasn't for convenient timing and/or last minute change of heart of the patient
There was a deleted scene for this episode. I think the character Evan Peters was playing (whom you might be familiar with) was sipping on blood of a male patient. Not sure where it is
A lot of people are like the shooter. They complicate their own lives, and then others. They want to pick and choose what to do and then withhold key information. Then when someone with solutions come along, they don’t want to participate or listen AND it takes a lot a convincing to show the solution is a lot more simple.
Didn't know it was key information, he never withheld anything intentionally - and they did try to knock him out, after everyone else had already turned their backs on him and left him to die - Being paranoid doesn't mean they're *not* out to get you
Not sure I understand house here. Keep the gun, send 13 away and use the threat of her silence and the gun to keep him passive so you can continue testing and drugging. She gets safe and treated and house has control over the patient and can figure it out. His only time limit is the police breaking in or the patient collapsing.
House to the guy with the gun: roll up your sleeve House to the "very large creep" (House's own words) to which he's going to give literally the very same shot: take off your shirt

He’s calm because he’s a sociopath
Medical professionals receive a lot of training to remain calm.
Never understood why give the gun back as is. I get he has the need for answers so just take the bullets out and give it to him unloaded. No one had to know it wasn't loaded but them.
If it got out that it was unloaded, they'd break in and arrest him and House never finds out the answer.
@@iRazenrakeveryone in the room was in there by choice after he gave the gun up so surely they’d play along to continue the diagnosis as long as there was no more danger. Giving back a loaded gun was idiotic unless House just gets off from the danger but who knows maybe the danger took the edge off his pain since he hasn’t popped a vicodin in awhile.
This guy was also a founding father and a government agent. I'm pretty sure I've heard his voice somewhere else too. Never ceases to shock me how versatile actors are.

He played on True blood as well
The fact that house gave him back the gun, when he has already shot an innocent man, shows his disregard for innocent lives, preferring to sate his sick curiosity
🙂Partly Well-said. He has and shown regard for others - minor, subtle example like 2:18 & more piling examples for 'Thirteen' (8:21, 8:51) - Buut, Yes, his obsession *overpowers* his already under-average capacity for empathy.
Pardon me for Grammar-Policing, lol.
he's just silly 😊
Nah, he just also has empathy for the dying man, where most people would probably see him as an outsider and not worthy of empathy
House has *more* empathy than others@@notagreen-fiend9029
It's not curiosity or obsession, he knows he won't get treated (certainly not in time) if it is given up - Not to mention house tried to knock him out to begin with
Especially when around kids you see his neverending empathy, the brave and the innocent
@@notagreen-fiend9029You do realize Thirteen wouldn't have almost died if it weren't for scumbag House..
@@Aemilius46 Oh, of course. I wasn't denying that. House absolutely jeopardized '13' and the remaining boy-hostage's life, all for saving a man who we would never see returned paying back for his act of endangering ill-people.

I always imagine another doctor attempting to step forward and House having to say
“Whoa, no so fast”
As everyone is asking and careful spoilers for this episode:
It was melidosis, so house was right, the guy gets arrested, thirteen survives. Cuddys office is wrecked so she and house fight over who is responsible for this, meanwhile thirteen asks foreman to let her participate in a trial for Huntington disease
Thank you 🙏

House never should've given back his gun. That guy already shoot an innocent civilian. He already proved that he can't be trusted. 13's situation wouldn't have been so bad if he never gave back his gun!
If he did give it back he should have been the only one stupid enough to stay.
He was too curious about what it is, and wanted more time to diagnose.

House is sarcastic even with a gun pointed at him.🤦😆
True sarcasm doesn't stop not even in the face of danger

For the same reason House gave him the gun back then had a pikachu o face when he threatened House and the lady.
The way he comes in at the beginning, he eyes everyone but the others dont seem to care. +new angels to heaven ;-;
So this is what Eric Woodall was doing before coming to the SEC 😂
🤣🤣🤣
I love this episode so much, it really shows a soft side of House and how much he cares for Thirteen. I love their relationship, especially in this episode
It's a comfort to know Hospitals can still work faster.
I like when everyone including 13 looks at him when he mentions Florida 😂
Completely forgot Evan Peters was in House!
What could people like him have left to live for?
he didn't really care about living or living well, he just wanted an answer
@@cassie2055 u both are idiots who think suicide is something anyone can do

@@PJOZeus it's pretty cruel/cowardly to force a sick women to take those medications.
Most humans, 98% of us, have an inbuilt instinct to survive no matter what. Their fear of death is so all consuming they will do almost anything to avoid dying. Even if after they do it, they wouldn't want to live anyways.
Thnx for showing how it ends. Oh wait you didn't. Outstanding work.
What’s funny is how greys anatomy has two episodes like this per season with either a hostage situation or a bomb
When the first big guy passed out he should have blamed it on a bad reaction to something he didn't need..
At that point who cares what's wrong with him he already held hostages and shot someone, he's definitely going to jail. There was no coming back from this.
Right like even if you found out what's wrong with you, your still going to jail and gonna die sick in jail
And that's the difference between real people and soulless ones...
"It's either the meds kill me or he kills me"
No it was house the whole time. Bruh have him back the gun 😭😂
it's like throwing your child to the lions. the lion does what the lion does, you killed your child. he could have killed 13 if it wasn't for convenient timing and/or last minute change of heart of the patient
There was a deleted scene for this episode. I think the character Evan Peters was playing (whom you might be familiar with) was sipping on blood of a male patient. Not sure where it is

I’m sorry but house is truly funny without trying 😭
Dude that passed out is the happiest man in the room at the moment lol.
that florida bit and the fact that this episode is called “last resort” 😭
I forgot how good this guy is at playing House. I keep getting random algorithm recommendations for House videos lmao.
Little fun fact, your leg is full of big ass veins and when shot has almost the same chance of killing you as a chest shot
House to the guy with the gun: roll up your sleeve
House to the "very large creep" (House's own words) to which he's going to give literally the very same shot: take off your shirt
Any person who treats other humans this badly deserves their doomed fate. He's ready to kill others to get a cure.
Don't think he wanted a cure, he just wanted to know what he has

I think the CT scanner is the only place in the room where she could lie down other than on the floor.
she had to take other meds for the man. she sat down on the scanner and then, because of the drugs, her heart started racing and she passed out

This reminds me of a real story in the US about an old man that robbed a bank. He went to the bank and handed the teller a note stating that it was an robbery and demanded $1. Then he simply went to the lobby to sat down, waiting for the cops to arrest him. When asked why he did it, he said because he cannot afford his medicine, told what he needed. And that jail are required to treat him and provide his medical care free of charge.
