Oh maaaaan Seamless! This is dope! At first, I was like, "That aint that sound." But man, I automated the x and the y, and its all hella beefy. Something Ive been surching for! All my wobbles are hella weak and dont have bass like this. Thanks man.
Each mixer insert has a stereo separation knob associated with it. Maximus's benefit is that it has one for each band of the spectrum. You could adjust it manually by creating a frequency split in multiple mixer inserts through EQ and then use the built in separation. You could also manually adjust it using the "stereo shaper" plugin, but that's less intuitive.
Hello Seamless ! I speak french but I will try to do my best to ask my question :D Well, Sytrus does not exist for mac, and I really really want to have this particular sound ( much more than Neuro basses, because I know quite well how to do them !). Do you have any advice to "translate" what you explain for this sound from sytrus to FM8 ? Thank you very much man, big big sound designer you are :)
Seamless, first of all, THANKS 4 the instruction videos! I'm slowly understanding what ur doing - Please can you tell me which FM videos or written material is useful in explaining FM synthesis?
It uses the same basic concepts. It does, however, apply new ones not covered in previous videos. Or covered not very well. Some of my older ones are confusing and stupid ;p
Hi Seamless! Any chance you could do a tutorial on a mid/high range lead? The type of sound that is really distorted and detuned and is made with FM synthesis? People make generic ones in massive in those Knife Party/Skrillex Tutorials but I wanna know how to make them from scratch with FM. I have made one before but it was kind of a fluke while fiddling around with the matrix. And example would be the lead in Netsky's Everyday remix.
hey there bud, have you tried re sampling sounds from newtone, i do it in melodyn in studio one, come up with unique sounds that are twisted but trying to apply it with newtone but the algorithm of pitch correction is allot different but also unique sounds come from it, EG: a harmor re sampled reese made in G# made to be in C in newtone and recorded into edison then droped in a sampler or harmor makes for unique sounds. using lazorbass to make some heavy resampled sounds from melodyn
Another request, Can you do some how to bass on "cleaner" basses? Something like the high pitchy ringmody type bass in tantrum desire's "guided rhythm" or something like that.
This is very inspiring. Too bad my Laptop is a piece of shit and I just dropped over a grand on fixing my truck. Fuck I wish i had the tools right now to make music like you.
Hah, yeah :D I guess I should make more electronic music. Anyway: to open ".nfm8" which is the newest format for FM8, you need to have v1.2.0 or higher.
Rogue can too, mate. The lad is like Seamless, he knows FL inside and out. Watch his spotlight vids anyways and you'll probably end up changing that troll icon. Not that I actually gaf but PBN and Rogue are two completely different artists and styles and I like them both.
Hey seamless, sorry to be a traitor to your cause but I'm an Ableton user and therefore can't use Sytrus. I love this sound, and the similar one featured in your new track Calibrate (I think it's the 'orange' automation track). Is there any way to make this sound in FM8 and if so how would you go about it? Thank you so much
Hey Seamless. When I try to enable my microphone in fl studio and play the track I'm working on at the same time, I get this terrible crackle and popping while the track is playing. I have my mic set up as an input into separate channel (unlinked to the master to prevent feedback) and use the ASIO4ALL sound driver. I also know it's not a CPU problem because my cpu meter never goes above 10% when I enable my mic and play the track. So is there anything I could do to fix this popping? Thanks!
"Squelch" is a texture created almost always by moving something in the shape of a sine wave. Sine shaping distortion does it, FM/RM/AM by sine wave. "Growls" are sharper sounding oscillations that also contain formant activity. Which is when extra motion creates a shape within the harmonics structure of your oscillation. A "wobble" is just any slow, regular motion of a filter or something. Super original dubstep was almost completely made of basic "wobble" sounds. Usually accomplished by attaching an "LFO" (low frequency oscillator) timed to be in sync with bpm to whatever parameter or macro of parameters you're gonna wob.
I think it would be really hard to 'translate' it into FM8, because as far as I know, in FM8 you can't edit wafeforms like in Sytrus. Fortunately, I have a good FM8 patch- it's not excatly the same sound, but it's quite similar to this one. Here- www37 [dot] zippyshare [dot] com/v/14991618/file.html Btw, play with it around C2 and C3. For the best effect use it in higher velocity.
Okay, but go and listen to one of this guy's tracks... Google "SeamlessR Bass Antics" on Soundcloud. Granted they're different tunes stylistically, the production quality of the growl in that drop easily outclasses SMNS, which is small in comparison (it's mostly mono even). There's nothing magical about SMNS's growls. It's just the arrangement. This guy's growls are an instrument in the mix, Skrillex treats the growl like a lead vocal, and uses the pretty/ugly contrast to great effect.
Pitcher, a plugin that comes with new versions of FL studio is much better than Newtone IMO you don't have to use that shitty piano roll interface on newtone, you can just use the piano roll instead not to mention it has some cool parameters!
i've learned a lot from your videos, but i got to ask, are you eating cookies or something while recording this? it always sounds like your mouth is filled with food that you're munching on while talking, idk... just sounds weird.
The "I suppose I'll make a vid on Maximus later" statement made my day. Plus, very useful video.

Proving Sytrus can do incredible things!!! Good job dude!!!

you are a genius seamless!

Rogue - Exogenesis has the same growl from Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.

Great idea!

@Carl Kiessig check out his channel, he's got a couple of those.

Because the newest FM8 do not uses 'ksd' files. You must have really old version of FM8.
Cookies are dope.

What is the difference between Squelch, Growl, Wobble ?

i have version 1.1.5 its the best version. which do you have? checked ur soundcloud got disappointed no dubsteps were there...
What version of fm8 are you using? It isn't in ksd...
you should do a song called "hi, im seamless"
Can you do a "how to pad"? (assuming you know how to pad.)
It's basically the same thing that you covered in um... 3 or more videos already...?
Hi, I'm Seamless, and now I have a microphone! Yay.
YES! He should! :D

indeed.
my brain hurts X()
Not if someone remixes one first! XD

Stop chewing gum while recording! haha
Sorry, but that's just Skrillex fanboyism. The main growl from SMNS and Exogenesis are almost the same.
why dont you stop falling for trolls? besides, fuck is a bad word. id appreciate if you didn't soil my childrens eyes by using it.
