Excellent video, as a product designer I’ve often wondered how it would be editing in Figma on the iPad but this video pretty much reassures what I initially suspected. Thank you for your insights and hopefully they do make more updates to the iPad for designers.
Figma even works pretty good on my samsung phone, you just need to on desktop mode, then it's perfect, i tried both on my desktop and phone almost same , the only difference is screen size, its very hard to work in a phone because of the screen size.
Great video. I have the iPad Pro and have been struggling with editing on Squarespace the past couple days also. Selecting boxes or elements can be hit or miss or just completely unresponsive. I thought it may have been Squarespace issue but then I tried on my Dell laptop and it was smooth as butter. So yes I agree with you , for some reason the iPad is just not quite ready to handle this task full time.
As someone trying this for years. ( since 1st iPad Pro ) I can work fully on the iPad if needed but I would not recommend either. For drawing I would but anything Figma or photoshop I think is just worst than laptop/computer and have no real benefit ( iPad + keyboard + mouse is heavier as you mentioned ). Maybe in a couple years as now we have the power, the screen, the keyboard we are lacking lightness, easy to use and Figma proper software for iPad =)
Your hands-on approach to testing the iPad's potential for web design is impressive. What specific improvements or features do you think are needed to make the iPad an ideal tool for web development?
This video showcasing the iPad's journey in web design and development was truly intriguing. Their firsthand experiences, especially with accessories and software limitations, shed light on the iPad's potential as a work device. Thanks for sharing this insightful journey.
Thanks for the question, I think if ipad's had a real 'OS mode' that would allow them to treat websites like Computers, rather than touch devices, maybe they would be more flexible, since their iPad mode locks their functionality
Unfortunately ipad still are not that friendly with keyboard commands, I'm specially frustrated with the command "move front" and "move back" and the hand (because i use the space bar instead the "H" ) Also, the fonts availability are something also to considering in the case that you have been thinking on just having an IPAD to designs because the offer is limited, or does anyone know any fonts manager for ipad users? It could be so helpful! Anyway, thank you for your video I'm currently in the same mode, so I'm just trying to use only the Ipad hahahaha
Hi Codex. I'm thinking about to buy and iPad Pro for working with Figma (I have a Macbook Air M1 today). My only problem is the personalized fonts for some project. So I'm between the Galaxy Book 360 with Windows 11 or the iPad Pro with M2 which supports the Stage Manager. What do you think is a better option? Did you try the Stage Manager? If it yes, how was the experience with Figma Web or Figurative? Useless information: If I can say this way "my dream" is to have a one device for everything, where I can use on my desktop table in office, unplug and watch a movie on the sofa of playing some games in the bed. So I really want to retire my MacBook and have only an iPad.
Hey @rapha-ux just wanted to ask did u buy an ipad then.... actually the concerns u have listed in the comments are the same which I have..but now with the release of iPad M4 in the market do you think it will be fluent to have one device for all....cause I am thinking of buying an ipad which I will be able to use for all graphic, web design n other things as well
You said you couldn’t use figma, and now you can.. why - how? You said nothing of this. What are you trying to say - it just works now? For what reason? Who improved what to make it work?
I have not seen any in-broswer design that works on iPad. Mailchimp, square space, etc.. anything drag and drop design have limited or 0 functionality on the iPad.@@dannyboycalifornia
Tried Figma on my new IPads Pro 12’9 and Figma freezes all the time, so I’m not sure it could be comfortable for work. Also the hover functions don’t work and mobile version only works in the show mode
Hello bro please reply... I am a student and currently planning to buy ipad air 5 m1 for note making and mainly for ui designing. Will ipad be a best choice for me for next 5 years??? Please reply...............
Connecting a keyboard to your iPad essentially transforms it into something other than an iPad. I'm not sure why someone would purchase these items; it seems more practical to buy a laptop, which offers a wider range of possibilities, instead of investing in an expensive iPad and keyboard for fewer advantages.
I have a Windows PC and an IPAD, you can add or edit the fonts on your Figma desktop app and then open on your ipad, but don't have that variety of font options to design from 0 fron your ipad
Totally pointless. If I have to use an app (Figma web in this case) which is not optimized for touch devices, and I will need a keyboard and an mouse, there’s no point on spending that much money on an iPad if you can do the same, and more, even on a MBA. It just makes no sense. It would be different if Figma had a dedicated iOS app.

I wonder if it would be the same on Samsung Tablets

glad i came to this video before buying an ipad for my web design
Awesome video, Adrian. Love the format!
Awesome, thank you!

This is fascinating!

Doesn't it work better with a pen rather than fingers?
For now, I prefer using my laptop, but who knows next year :) also a big fan of the logitech mouse!

What ipad you have?
I opened it in Safari and the interface does not appear as in the video
It has limited possibilities
It does not appear to me as it appears to
Use Chrome browser, desktop mode.
Everything will then run on Chrome virtual OS.

How do you even copy and paste on Figma iPad website? Without the keyboard?
Long click!
Why don't you use Apple Pencil instead of fingers or keyboard?
Tried Figma on my new IPads Pro 12’9 and Figma freezes all the time, so I’m not sure it could be comfortable for work. Also the hover functions don’t work and mobile version only works in the show mode
App = Figurative
hello, its awesome your expirience with your ipad, you tried to used with a monitor, can ipad with m1 chip handle a second display?
Can you connect the bluetooth keyboard from the desktop i to the iPad? Are commands working?
So you can connect a mouse !? Woooow...mindblowing game changer!!!
Not the good mouse.

It works for me with an Ipad pro 13 inch. I made sure to update the screen density to more space in ipados settings.

How do we undo and use other commands?
Command + Z
Can I do coding in iPad
Yep, you can find a ton of apps for coding. I use Textastic.
I guess that's a no, it looks painful.
Thanks for the insight,
How about font syncing for figma? Im planning to have ipad instead laptop 😅
I have a Windows PC and an IPAD, you can add or edit the fonts on your Figma desktop app and then open on your ipad, but don't have that variety of font options to design from 0 fron your ipad
Summarization: I love my iPad, but it's buggy and annoying if you want to work on it.
Which ipad do you have ? ?
@theMr.K watch the video.
Web Designer with Wix.. and you dont get the max out of the ipad. Check other Videos what you can do with an ipad as a laptop replacement
Buy an iPad-turn it into a laptop anyway to make it useful 🤣🤣🤣
(Yes, I know it's an exaggeration, but not by much 😊)
Wix?! 🤮
