    It’s the best value you can get for a new vehicle. Incredible mpg with tons of utility. Ford absolutely hit a home run with this truck. I can see why there is such a demand.

    I just got mine Monday (2023 Maverick Lariat hybrid) and could not love it more. 44 mpg consistently. I noticed today how nice the suspension was going over small bumps in the road. Killer sound system , 9 speakers + subwoofer behind back seat + surround sound.
    Handles great, lots of power when needed. Plenty of room and storage. A winner!

    Just took delivery of my Ford maverick this past Saturday I went with the XLT hybrid with a few extras in cactus gray. I paid 30K out the door…. But I also pre-ordered in 2022, and waited 10 months for it. Lol …. Well worth the wait. Awesome truck.

    Regenerative braking, harder braking is not better for charging the traction battery. Quite the opposite, slow and steady braking wins the day. With the Maverick, change the drive mode to Eco, and when coasting to a stop, the regenerative braking is more aggressive. If you are aggressive with the brake pedal, the Maverick will engage the physical brakes, reducing the amount of charge returning to the battery pack.

    Love my hybrid maverick hybrid.. but starting to have one major issue. And that is the winter time.the engine cools down extremely fast. It’s barely even cold out now, about 40 degrees F, should be below 0 zero soon. And my car doesn’t even heat up barely at all on my 15 mile drive to work. I can only get the engine to warm up by using sport mode, which drops mpg down to like 22mpg and keeps the engine always on

      @@abelp1990 average speed was 57. My claim is only that this was the mileage shown-did not ever check it with the refuel. I’ve found generally when I have checked, the mileage on the gauge and the measured gallons are within 4-5%. So 54mpg - 5% = 51.3 mpg actual. That’s really amazing. To achieve you use the Eco setting and then really follow the Eco coach gauge. This allows the vehicle to use the electric motor more - which is the key.

    • @nathanwolfe7069
      @nathanwolfe7069 Рік тому +2

      It is always in hybrid mode. When you brake it charges the battery for the electric motors. It will try to use the electric motor to drive if it has the charge available, but if you accelerate quickly or run out it will switch to the gas engine. I have this truck and its my first hybrid. It's sometimes difficult to get the electric mode going, but I have found if I accelerate up to my cruising speed, back off the gas and then put it on again it usually puts it to cruise for a few miles in electric mode.

    What are some hypermiling techniques you use to get that mpg?

    • @barkahol4184
      @barkahol4184 Рік тому +2

      Hypermiling for the most part is just simply genlty accelerating from a full stop as to avoid using the gas engine, and coasting at the speed limit or just a few miles above and only hitting the gas when needed to maintain your speed. More advanced tips include turn off the AC as often as possible, especially when going up hills when the engine is struggling already, and then accelerating a tad harder when going down hill to get a lot of speed for not a lot of gas use, then coasting it as long as possible when u hit the bottom.

      @paulholterhaus7084 tbh in my experience I find myself averaging about 5-7 miles more on average. It's definitely worth the "extra work". My commute to work is maybe on average 1 or 2 minutes slower since I'm not lead footing it anymore.

      There's a few factors at play, but the basics would be:
      - City vs. Highway (the stop-n-go of city driving + lower speeds are more hybrid efficient and allow you to constantly recharge the battery without using as much fuel, whereas highway driving consumes mostly fuel)
      - Driving style (if you drive like a grandma w/ slow, optimal acceleration you'll be more efficient)
      - Drag (Do you use a tonneau cover? Something as simple as that greatly reduces drag and can improve a truck's mpg by up to 10%)
      - Sample Size (the longer you have it, the more apparent the true average will be. For example, you can start a small trip with a fully charged battery and get a readout of 60+ MPG for that trip, whereas if you start out lower battery and drive a bit heavy-footed you may see down to low 30s for the very same trip)

    • @allslitup
      @allslitup Рік тому

      @@cclark8046 I actually just installed a tonneau cover about 3-4 weeks into ownership, so I hope to see a benefit from that. And how can you tell the current state of the battery's charge?
