Hi guys! Today we're exploring the neighborhood between Daehakro and Dongdaemun! Right next to Hyehwa station you'll find Ihwa Mural Village which is filled with murals and other pieces of art by local artists, plus tons of small shops and cafes! If you climb to the top you'll find yourself walking along the Seoul Fortress Wall which will lead you right back down to Dongdaemun :) Hope you enjoyed our little stroll and thanks as always for joining me! I went to Ihwa on a holiday day, everything was closed but plenty of murals were out so the noisy tourists issue must be recent. Its really sad that people are disrespectful enough that the locals had to retaliate.

This vlog made me nostalgic! I visited Ihwa Mural Village when I was in Seoul March 2019. I remember climbing all those stairs to get to the top - & as you showed us, the views were definitely worth the ascent! The residents hadn't painted over the mosaic stairs back then, so I'm a little saddened to see that - & even sadder to think (over) tourism got to the stage where residents were forced to take that kind of action. A real shame as it's such a charming little village. I lucked out & visited on a quiet day too.

Ihwa Mural Village is my mum's favourite place in Seoul. I also love going there and along Seoul Fortress Wall. Views from the Wall are amazing.
We actually didn't plan to visit Ihwa Mural Village on our trip together back in 2016, it just happened. We were on our way to Naksan Park from Dongdaemun Gate and I started to feel really unwell - it was an extremely hot day and I get mild sunstrokes easily. We found a small resting stop with a shade at the very top of the track (beautiful view) and as I was resting my mum ventured down into the Mural Village to take some pictures. She came back really amazed by the area, took lots of pictures and even managed to buy ice cold water for me - she was really proud of herself as she does not speak English.
I think that rest stop was actually when you took the panorama view. It is beautiful out there.
My mom explored it by herself too and she loved it!!!
Thx so much for vlogging. Things are so difficult in the US as you know. My state had a bad day , deaths went up, we had been doing so well. Very disheartening. Your vlog cheered me up which is very important right now. I’ve been quarantined since Feb. I do get to walk outside every day but I’m mostly at home with my hubby and puppy. Grateful.

I went there 3 years ago, starting from Naksan Park. And I remember that I climbed very, very steep stairs on to the top. I was exhausted and as soon as I was on the top it started to rain although it was very sunny the whole day. But it was beautiful. The view from up there and walking along the wall. Also back then all the murals were still there! Really loved this area! Gosh, missing Seoul again.....!! Thank you so much for taking me there again! :)

It seems like SK has a lot of places like that which are tourist attractions and residential areas, I went to a few but it was really sad for people to not follow the be quiet signs that were everywhere
Yeah even with the “please be quiet” signs some people are so noisy 🤧

Seoul was the first solo trip I ever did and the exact hike that you showed in this vlog is one of my most magical memories of the trip. The panoramic views, the murals, the cat painting cafe, the hike that ends at DDM. On the day I went, it ended up being the last day of Seoul Fashion Week (2018 Winter) and I just stumbled into this crowd of beautifull stylish people. That's a highlight of my people watching adventures!

Oh at 6:54 ! I've been to Seoul, where you sitting was my spot not far from my first airbnb place in Dongdaemun ! So much memories it was my first big walk in Seoul and it was under the snow ! And my last walk was also there at the sunset, there's a cafe where you can watch it. I want to go back to South Korea so much and this time go to Jeju Island and Busan ! Your vlog made me so happy, at 10:57 and 11:10 I teared up a bit. It was my neighborhood and my home for my first big travel alone !

One time we went to Ihwa village with some Korean friends who got us to dress up in old school uniforms and take loads of photos... That was an odd day! Thanks for sharing.

I've been here before (Ihwa mural village)!! Thank you for the trip down memory lane, sad that many have been painted over, but I can understand if people are being loud or disrespectful to the fact that people live there.

When I visited Seoul last year, the Uhwa Mural village was one of my favourite places! There was a cafe that had cat paintings all over. When you order a drink, they give you a mini canvas to paint a cat of your own. I'm just starting the video, but I'm excited to see the things you spotted!

Since I've been out of quarantine, I've been following your vlogs, as well about 5 other vloggers, to get around Seoul and explore. I was walking from Ikseon dong (which is adorable...living 5 min. from there) to Dondaemun and ran right into a piece of the wall. I didn't even know there was a wall. And, now here you are with a video on that wall. This heat is something else during the day but if we're still here as the weather cools, I'll keep the wall on the list. Too bad about the Mural Village. I just walked through Bukchon Hanok Village. I was the only tourist walking around the entire time I was there. I saw all the signs to please be quiet. Again, thank you for the work you do to put these fun videos together.

Been to Iwha mural village! It was very quiet when my friend and I were there. It was midweek, around 16-17 (4-5PM) in early December a few years back. For anyone interested in knowing if they want to go and they happen to go during December (perhaps winter is good in general for few tourists)

I really love Ihwa Murral Village too! I've visited Ihwa Murral Village in summer 2018 and even though Seoul was so HOT that day, the 동내 itself was really cool with breeze. There's so many things to see there and it's really beautiful. I only went there bcs of k-drama shooting locations but I fell in love with Ihwa so I recommend it to everyone who asked me about where to go in Seoul 😂 thank you for the vid, I really miss Seoul ㅠㅠ
