- Steffi wins this battle of the forehands. Take note of how capable Steffi's forehand is from all parts of the court. When drawn wide and on a stretch, she can put the ball up the line. Serena has always had trouble with unforced errors, and against a superior ball striker and technician like Steffi, patience and endurance would win out most times. Steffi's mental fortitude would spell a lot of trouble for Serena as well.
If Steffi were to play today, she would completely be a different player. For one, I don't think she would be using the 85 head size she loved to use in her heyday. I think she would have to opt for a 100, which in my opinion would have changed her technique dramatically.
You don't have to smash the ball to generate the power required. That makes me think Steffi would still be successful even today with the modern rackets. I wonder how she would fare on clay courts today.

What I find more amazing is, that Steffi Graf always got the upper hand in forehand cross court duells 2009 in Wimbledon against Kim Clijsters. That's the year Kim won the US Open beating Serena in the Process.
it's no surprise on grass. Her forehand has very little topspin, yet a lot of pace, length and on grass a low bounce.

If u see so - its your opinion. In my opinion, Serena has more Power, but Tennis is not only power. Steffi was faster, she had more various (net and court-coverage) and how she hit the ball with fore- and backhand (slice): she stepped into ball. Ideal for fast courts. Never mind: Serena, Steffi and Martina N. are the best players ever.

Graf hits the ball well that time but its obvious that Kim didn't use her power game in respect for elder Graf but Kim still won that mini-match...
