Wonderful to watch. So naturally done, no obvious lead up as the soaps would do today, just life unfolding and the dramatic end. Wonderfully scripted. Really enjoyed it 🎉
Wow, very dramatic end 🎉 Thank You for sharing, first class episode. Knew that would happen and know the aftermath but doesn't take away the brilliant scenes. Don't blame Elsie for turning down the first guy, he was a womaniser you could tell. Bob Maxwell was a gentleman, some good scenes with him and Elsie. He was upper class and she working class, she didn't hide it. The more I see of Irma the more I like. Bit cheeky suggesting Lucille needing eloclution lessons, nothing wrong in the way she speaks.
The point was that to get ahead, speaking eloquently helps. Especially back in those days......not so much now. Colloquial accents are less profiled against.
@londonlady227 I know what you mean. I'm born in Salford and have lived all my life in Salford, the home of Coronation St. But I'm told I don't talk Coronation St, it's peoples perceptions. Just find it amusing.
'Elderly couple' the barmaid says, they were 65 & 66 in real life, how things have changed! Then Maxwell says he's 50, as if that's meant to be ancient too! 🤣 And they did look elderly back then too! 😂
InCREDible acting here from Jean Alexander and Pat Phoenix. Just shows the range of soap actors. Thank you so much for posting.
