To clarify to everyone, this video was released before Nefcy's AMA that revealed that this was the plan for the season and it wasn't the result of Disney suddenly killing the show. I had assumed that Disney killed it since the season felt so fragmented and terribly paced. In actuality the writers just did an astonishingly horrible job.
Stranger hmmm maybe they thought in the beginning they were gonna get a Season 5 so they were like “hmm we’re gonna make Season 4 the worst season and make season 5 the greatest season” but sadly we didn’t get that it’s really over
Pony head was sent into a state of depression because her horn broke and she couldn’t use magic. Now the magic is gone and there is nothing she can do about it. Star ruined pony head’s life.
I've actually read quite a few fan fictions that were more competent than the shows they were about, like for instance, I've read some really good Miraculous Ladybug fan fics, and while I like the show, I can't deny that it's basically the entertainment equivalent of McDonald's in terms of substance. It tastes good, but there's probably not a whole lot to it that's good for you. I feel like Star vs. the Forrces of Evil was like that in a way, but with a bitter aftertaste. I wouldn't doubt that there are fans out there who could write a better ending than that.
Well the fans know what the fanbase wants. It feels like they switched roles here because wtf it literally all happened so fast. Are we just supposed to assume they're okay. And what about carnivorous beings if there are no longer king's and queens to dictate spacing between the animals without free thinking are people getting eaten left and right. Why did they send Marco back rather then just send Jana back and have her explain or something.
Oh god you make me remind of rwby fanfictions that keep Monty's writing or flare. The recent volumes imo. Aren't bad. But they lack the flair Monty bought which made volume 1 - 3 so cool. Fanfictions keep that flair.
I'm sad it ended that way, don't know who is to blame for, Disney or the creator.. every freaking cartoon animation in the west seem to have this problem, it started great and people love it but near the end of the season given it was intentional, out of money, popularity drop, it went shit, rushed and all that. Disney, being the multi-billion company, can do more justice for this show, they can fund it with their money if it true that the creator of the show wanted to do more season till season 5 at least.
Let’s also not forget the fact that Toffee was killed for trying to destroy the magic, and yet they destroyed the magic at the end anyway, so Toffee was killed for nothing.
@@superspam8158 I didn't realise why so many people hated it untill I looked into it. It started going down hill when it turned into a trashy romance between Star, Marco, Kelly, and Tom. It didn't feel right. The ending kinda made me mad because she destroyed all magic like it was nothing even though it killed all magical beings. Toffee wanted to do that but she stopped him.
@@r0bzys no.. not really. in a QnA daron nefcy said disney gave her 4 season right from the start. so, disney doesnt have anything to do with the finale being rushed, because it was daron's fault for making it rushed on the last season of her show, knowing from the start she only had 4.
@@cupidzn6351 Dude were so samee I also liked the ending cause STARCO is official but i also hate it at the same time because the magic was destroyed which is also a thing why I watched SVTFOE
Not saying fanfiction or any fan work is bad but it felt like one of those au fics where the writer was just "What if it ended the worst way possible?"
It's one of the very few good things about him. Sure, he was a deserter, sure he was a art school reject, sure he was a speed addict, sure he was a terrible military commander, sure he only had one testicle, sure he was a vegetarian, BUT, he at least cared about his country. All of his evil actions came from a twisted love for his home nation, and that's tragically admirable.
I thought he goal was the level the playing field by giving monsters access to magic and meteora was going to be the binding of mewmans and monsters but they threw that all away
I never fully watched SVTFOE, but Toffee has always been one character that stuck out for me. I think I'm a sucker for villains such as him who don't screw around compared to the usual Saturday morning cartoon villain and are an actual threat to the protagonist. It's also his calm and collected personality which also makes me enjoy watching him.
Why'd you have to go and do that to me? Edit: that moment when it's 12:18 AM and UA-cam randomly decides to tell you that people have liked and replied to your comment over the span of nine months even though it didn't even bother before
Damn. Imagine committing *COSMIC GENOCIDE RESULTING IN THE DEATHS OF TRILLIONS* to defeat this one enemy you have and because magic made you annoyed. What a prick.
The very last scene was litterally just "look at these innocent ppl freak out for there lives as these random beast destroy there world and kill them oh but its ok the two main characters are together. 👌

@@Diablosterful even so the humans who lived on earth have pretty much no experience with handling these threats and monsters they are still worse off then those who came from mewni
I can’t believe you guys didn’t enjoy the finale, it was epic. And there’s so much potential with both their worlds colliding as one, it’s a symbol of stars and Marcos love really
@•• at the beginning maybe. after friend enemies when he got a purpose other than “star’s obsessed ex boyfriend” he backed off and when he and star got back together STAR was the one who asked him out. if anything, by the end of the show MARCO was the simp.
@@maxhasproblems4885 I think it's safe to say Tom had some of the best character development in the show, and definitely deserved a much better ending of his own. Also, given her last reaction to the butterfly girl being around, I'm pretty sure that his mother is going to murder Star the next time they meet.
People thought that Mabel from Gravity Falls was bad, but at least what Mabel did in the finale was an accident and eventually came around to help fix it. Star on the other hand I just don’t know anymore.
What's worse is that Mabel was the same through the whole series so her behaviour is not suprising. Star was bettering herself! Becoming considerent and mature! And for the starco she just threw all of this away. She was scolding MHC for deciding on their own what's bad and what's good and ruining others lives because of this. And then she did the exact same thing. They decided that Meteora is bad and got rid of her. Star decided that magic is bad and got rid of it.
DeathKitta Yeah Mabel was a dumb adolescent who did dumb adolescent things. Star did something you would expect from a villain and didn’t show enough remorse over it.
@@austinjohnsen4430 The show itself didn't present is as something that bad. When Toffee does it it's the end of the world, when Star does it it's no big deal.
DeathKitta Like I said, it probably wouldn’t be so bad if Star showed more remorse over killing people and making life much harder for most of the survivors. Instead she’s only really upset about not seeing Marco right?
I heard the title of the show originally supposed to be Star AND the forces of evil, because everyone is (in this show) grey, not just simply evil or an angel. (Maybe this information is false, but it sounds logical to me.)
I will never forgive this show for ruining Moon just for the sake of having a cheap plot twist in order to support their convoluted plot. When they unveiled the plot twist not only I was shocked, I was beyond pissed because that’s so out of character for her when she objectively had the most growth in the show. Then all that got ruined within seconds.
I know how to fix this! I will write another 5-episode arc that will get rid of Cleaved by having Omnitraxus pull in Quasar Caterpillar (Amanda C. Miller) from another universe when he sees Star trying to stop the magic, then throw her back in time before he disappears. Quasar tells Star why she should not destroy magic, and then Star goes back to the grandma room to learn from Solaria's ghost what the Solarian spells are so she can undo them. January 9, 2020, 10:45pm But wait! There's more! Toffee's ghost turns out to be the shame wizard for Moon Butterfly, and he was the one who told her to unleash Globgor and turn against Eclipsa and team up with Mina so Star would want to destroy magic. Hekapoo also tells Marco and Star why she turned against the Magic High Commission and took Star's and Marco's side in not letting Mina kill the monsters. She grew to feel bad about the things she taught Festivia. When Comet Butterfly (Stephanie Sheh) was out chasing food, love and adventure, her younger brother, who was prince and wand-wielder at the time and refused to write in the Magic Book of Spells, Asteroid Butterfly (Paul Rudd) fell in love with Hekapoo and vice-versa. They eloped with Comet being the one holding their wedding. Asteroid also invented a super-secret magic moisturizer to make himself as and Comet as ageless as Hekapoo so they don't have to worry about the Neverzone. Even though the MHC can not reproduce, Hekapoo still wished to have a baby with Asteroid so she could right the wrongs she made with Festivia, so Comet magically gave Hekapoo reproductive organs. Then Comet had to remove them 20 weeks later to miscarriage it because if the MHC ever did find a way to reproduce, they would need to die and give up their magic to their offspring, which is how Rose Quartz died giving birth to Steven Universe. To this day, Asteroid is still frozen in crystal jail, just like Eclipsa was before early Season 3. The saddest part is that Asteroid and Hekapoo were punished for breaking an unspoken rule against MHCs marrying that they didn't know there was. Well, that was quite a compelling and sad backstory. Is it one you would like to see if I can convince Disney to take what I have to fix the finale of Star vs. the Forces of Evil? January 9, 2020, 10:47pm
The development of Zootopia taught me that we should not hate the world or characters from the beginning, so...I'm just doing the best that I can to avoid, or at least deconstruct the eight deadly words approach to this story where you don't care about any of the characters because Star Butterfly went bad. I make it so even though Quasar succeeded in saving Star from destroying magic, and devising another plan to stop Mina, Star still feels guilty for the thought of herself nearly committing genocide, as does Marco for aiding her and Hekapoo for abetting her. Star doubts herself as a hero, thinks of herself as The Ultimate Force Of Evil, and believes that she, Marco and Hekapoo will have to stay bad guys forever because no one should trust them to be good guys anymore. But then Hekapoo cheers up Star by telling her "We're just good guys who...had a bad thought about magic. Don't take yourself for an evil hero." This helps Star see that going good again is not pointless. We can still care about Star, Marco and Hekapoo in this hypothetical scenario I just gave you because being the heroes doesn't absolve them of guilt for a bad thing Omnitraxus took emergency-only measures to prevent from happening. January 9, 2020, 10:56pm
Wowie Zowie you’re very much right. star destroyed the magic that she worked so hard to restore and protect, not to mention the pointless love triangle with tom and marco (we all knew they were gonna be together, but the execution was poor); moon had seasons worth of character development and change, thrown away in matter of seconds, marco and tom had so much potential and plot points unused and eclipsa was used mainly for comic relief after her arc was over. such wasted potential.
Wait, was father time a magical being? If so, doesn't that mean that nobody is running on the time hamster wheel thingy? In that case nothing should've happened after Star killed magic because time isn't progressing.
THANK YOU FOR FINALLY MENTIONING THIS! I have thought this since the day after the episode aired. Star literally stopped time permanently. The writers ignored their own worldbuilding. I have been waiting a year for somebody else to bring this up.
Haha yup! I always like to think the wheel kept rolling for at least 5-20 minuets after his death before falling over and stopping time, and who knows what other Glossaryck (?) Like beings existed. Star's reality probably completely collapsed soon after, and to be perfectly honest that brings me so much joy. Star does not deserve a happy ending and neither does Marco, Moon and Sadly even Eclipsa for letting Star throw a fit and murder all magical beings.
They wanted someone around that was (unrealistically) unharmed in order to justify Star's actions and thought process. But, as one would expect, it came off as patronizing, dismissive, vapid, shallow, and morally confused.
@The Phantom lets just say that if ponyhead got crippled or even better died, then the show wouldve been no doubt 10/10 if they showed in full scene ponyhead coughing up blood while on the floor and while people are throwing rotten vegetables and spitting on her, a huge rock falls on her, leaving nothing behind. BUT INSTEAD SHE DIDNT EVEN HET CRIPPLED. FLYING HEADS ARE MAGICAL AND NO AMOUNT OF BS CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE
@The Phantom yes. a man can dream , but head cannon can only get you so far. as a great man once said: #makeyoutubegreatagain i know this has nothing to do with this but hey, its great
I know right. The main reason why Marco was my favourite character was because of the “safe kid” attitude he had. I wanted to see him slowly embrace his wild side. Unfortunately that made him annoying and cocky as well. But I did like his friendship with Tom after battle of mewni. It seemed genuine and I wanted more of their friendship
That was just simpe character development. Marco was always being safe, but Star flung him into the madness that is her life and always Marco would come out somewhat fine. That build his confidence over time. Eventually he was used to the madness
I'm 100% blaming the writers on this. If they just stuck with the original tone of season 1 and 2, everything would be fine. At worst, they run out of ideas, but that's better than this lame attempt to be like Gravity Falls
And that is one of my many problems with Star vs. the Forces of Evil. I'm okay with Star developing maturity over the course of her 3rd and 4th seasons, but there seem to be no more traces of her originally silly self, and I miss that. Ever since Season 2 ended, I have been writing Star vs. the FOE episodes that would be in line with that in case Star Butterfly ever came back to Earth. However, after watching this awful finale, and thinking about how to continue by undoing the events of Cleaved, I got the amazing idea to build up an arc in which Ludo teams up with Mina for revenge on Star Butterfly, which includes a body swap episode where Ludo is on a quest to switch bodies with Star and steal her magic. I also have a great idea for a golf episode with Friendship is Magic voices akin to the ones from Gravity Falls and DuckTales. October 16, 2019, 8:38pm

The MLP people I would have in my golf episode are John De Lancie, Tabitha Saint Germain and Peter New. In my Cleaved replacement, titled The Caterpillar and The Butterfly, Omnitraxus senses trouble in the Realm of Magic and sees Star trying to destroy the magic. He pulls in Quasar from another universe and tells her what to say to warn Star at the beginning of Cleaved to remind Star why she used to like magic and think of something else to save the monsters and mewmans from Mina. The way I see it: Eclipsa is a SJW fraud anti-human pro-monster female Palpatine, Star is a brainwashed sociopath female Anakin Skywalker, and Toffee was basically Darth Maul and a dragon to Eclipsa before he was killed. Right after being released, Eclipsa manipulated Star into distancing from and later breaking up with Marco as she saw their bond as a threat to her, then pretended to socialize with Moon in order to get into archives and rewrite the true history in her favor, then pretended to be an innocent victim to Magic High Commission, cheated her way out during the trial with the help of Box of Truth and made it so Star and Moon will have a fight, then started a meticulous elaborate chaos with portals which ended in Star giving her the wand and the throne of Mewni in order to establish an anti-human monster utopia with Globgor and their daughter. I'd say she's from Pie folk and that pirate cook is her relative, given the same hair color. And of course, all the lies about Butterflies not being rightful successors and actually from Pie folk are the other way around: it's Eclipsa who is an imposter.
TheMultiBrony Mal You say that but with the evidence we have can safely assume that any magic beings and anyone who uses magic in an important way is going to die. Whether you like it or not, she caused the death of so many people and beings and the only thing she cares about in the end is Marco. But Marco is gonna die too, cause he was stabbed, healed with magic, then the magic disappears and what’s left? A stab wound that his own body couldn’t heal cause his own body thought it was healed. Right. It was not only one of the most irresponsible things and silly things Star has ever done, but it also *completely* goes against her character development across all 4 seasons.
@@DLxxx Oh my god yes! We've spent all this time slowly seeing Star become more grown up and responsible, but especially that she realized that not the whole world revolved around her, but then that's just thrown out the window :(

The "funny" thing is, after the Ask Me Anything of Daron on Reddit we found out that Disney didn't "axe" the show: Daron KNEW Disney wouldn't have let her another season, so after being renewed she wrote an ending KNOWING it. Basically, she planned the last season as last one and yet it sucked.

Screw Daron Nefcy for what she did to her once incredible show! She rushed everything too much to actively try and kill Star vs. the Forces of Evil in its final season. She ruined a lot of character progression in Marco and Star just to have a classic Starco-fanfiction ending where they are stuck together as their universes merge. Worst of all, she turned Star into the Toffee she hated by having her destroy the magic to stop Mina. October 13, 2019, 9:40pm
And now there are no consequences for Mina on the loose or any hard feelings and regrets that there should be on Star destroying the magic, because Cleaved just ends when it ends. The only logic reason I could find to it now that I rewatched the show yesterday is that, since that stab was made by a magical creature, and magic got destroyed, the stab disappeared as well, (not official just the most logic reason I could come up with) which then leads me to think that if the stab was gonna be nonsense anyways adding it for shock value was unnecessary lol

The creators new they were only having 4 seasons. Disney is known for this, actually. They just wanted Starco to happen and that was the beginning of the end for this series. They threw continuity out the window and just for the sake of keeping star and marco together. There was so much potential and so many things left unclear but they wasted precious time on fillers and starco 🙄

Your statement about continuity is actually very accurate! Before season three in the credits there was always someone (I forget who) who was named the continuity checker or something Along those lines. After season three she was put into animation and later on disappeared entirely. @@starjumper as much as I love gravity falls the entire stan not losing his memory in the end was a massive cop out, besides that oh boy the ending was insanely good
Relationships honestly was the worse part of the show. It felt so awkward and uninteresting. Marco gets with the girl of his dreams breaks up. Then falls for star. Then stops loving star to be with another person who he then breaks up with in the same season to fall in love with star again. Like I cant even name one good relationship in the series and the worse definitely has to be star's parents. Honestly the show would be a lot better if the romance was replaced with more plot.
Or if they dialed *way* back on Starco and stuck with the more believable relationships. Marco realizing the girl of his dreams isn't all he built her up to be or that they didn't fit together could've been good - instead we got them getting together, being great together, then Jackie telling him "no you're in love with Star". Marco and Kelly could've been great. They fit perfectly together. But no, they cut that off at the speed of light and stuck the two as kinda awkward ex's for a while until Kelly was ultimately ignored again. Star and Tom had a complex and developing relationship. And then it was thrown away in an instant. Heck, the orange-haired girl in Mewni could'v- hold on lemme look up her name... Higgs, squire of one of Mewni's knights. Even *she* could've been a decent romantic interest for Marco if they tried. A sort of "rivals turn to kindred spirits" thing.
My point is they went *way* too hard in my opinion toward the basic, boring, obvious pairing of the two main characters, to the detriment of many existing and possible pairings that were and could've been much more interesting. But no. Too beholden to basic tradition I suppose, and not enough thought put in to actually make it work.
@@vision4860 or they simply liked the characters together. if they were beholden to tradition they wouldn't have done so much time on the other arcs. I think its more likely they simply rushed the 'ship' they wanted in the end.
@zackzx i agree. Now, to all future comments that are gonna say "Season 3 is trash", you're mostly wrong. It developed Eclipsa as someone who genuinely cares for her family. Yes, Meteora was a flat antagonist but Eclipsa.
@zackzx meteora felt the need to take the throne as she was part of the original bloodline. However, the way she does it is bland and all she did was suck souls out. But her actions did lead to certain revelations among the characters and I gotta give her credit for that.
Or the fact that they just left tom to die in the magic realm. Like no one saved him from that car and he turned into that evil horse rider thing. Like...what was even that? That was thier friend and they ditched him there. No remorse or even acknowledge that they ditched him.
To be fair, the Realm of Magic has a very strong effect on the mind. It could be plausible that they didn't go back for Tom because they didn't remember.

RawwrMe yeah or how they don’t mention how Tom ended up on Mewni like does that mean he can’t ever go home and does that mean Tom’s dad is no longer in the underworld
I think Marco's relationship with Kelly was just simply a replacement for Jackie since Marco wouldn't be seeing her or most of the Earth characters much for the rest of the series. For some reason the writers couldn't simply have him not be in a relationship with anyone(Star had Tom, so Marco needs a date too) until the writers decide to reveal their Starco "surprise". In the end, Star was the forces of evil.
@TheMultiBrony Mal I'm not wrong, it's my opinion. Starco is a horrendous ship. It's stupid, one of the most predictable plots ever. If you don't like, too bad, my opinion isn't gonna change.

Also the ending was bad because there Were *NO CONSEQUENCES* for Star. So many people probably died because magic was just wiped away, couldnt they have shown the awful results of destroying a life/Power source? :(
“They likely intended more seasons...” Unfortunately, it can’t even be said that this is true. They were told, upfront, “you will be getting 4 seasons”. The poor endgame of this show was entirely on the crew. Furthermore, I’ve heard it said that most of the writing was done as it went. The continuity coordinator even got kicked off somewhere during the last season. Overall, the end stage of this show was a disaster.

The writers really went “Sure, magic is gone, which means that magical entities and people who depended on magic are probably dead now, and the residents of Earth and Mewni are now terrified, but, Starco!”
I personally feel removing the magic in any way shape or form is bad because it sends the wrong message magic should of been saved so it would of shown hey just because this thing was used by bad people does not make the thing it's self inherently bad
I think they destroyed the magic because all the war and fights Star JUST had would never end. A ship is just taking one character, dragging and dropping them onto another and giggling about what if. Relationships and ships can co-exist, but the latter oftentimes falls apart when you try to do it without the former.
This show can't do relationships...sides, it wasn't supposed to BE about relationships. It's not called star vs the forces of angst teen love for a reason. It's supposed to be about fighting evil, trying to fight ludo all the time, protect the magic. That was thrown out really early on and that's sad
What's worse is that Daron knew she'd only get 4 seasons, this wasn't a case of being rushed by disney at all. All she wanted in the end was starco and sacrificed the amazing storytelling for it
Star: "magic is awful it's used to hurt people, Im going to destroy it so monsters and mewmans can't be hurt." Star: *fuses two worlds into one without any warning, throwing both monsters and humans into chaos, leading humans (who are the same as Mewmans) into a situation where weird creatures with completely alien habits are suddenly all over the world and trying to reorient themselves.* Star wanted to stamp out a forest fire. She ended up lighting the entire world on fire. How is she going to bring peace to an entire PLANET of people without magic?
@TheMultiBrony Mal Am I really? The show talks about how monsters and humans don't get along, how they perceive each other as dangerous, and goes into good detail about the discrimination that monsters face at the hands of mewmans. We get a major character who's entire plotline revolves around her trying to love a monster and getting ostracized for it. Eclipsa was sealed in crystal for centuries. Her daughter was taken away and thrown into the streets so a commoner could take the throne away from her and stomp out her family line. We see her facing societal backlash for her relationship multiple times, even when she is at the top of the established social hierarchy as Queen, and even when she diligently works for the good of her people. Rhombulus and the rest of the MHC were constantly trying to stab her in the back even after Star and Moon wanted to believe her. And at the end, Meena wanted to personally kill Eclipsa, her husband, and her baby, as well as every other monster and monster-smoocher. These are the stakes that the show itself put forth. In the final episode, amidst all the screaming and terror and confusion of people as giant spiders, ogres, and whatever else there is just magically appear all over the planet, Star and Marco are looking at each other, smiling, saying 'Hey' like a couple of morons. And not only that, they let Meena go into the woods spouting hate, with an idiot mewman to run after her. She's still out there, and she's present in this new world. Shit. Will. Hit. The. Fan. Again. It's not an overcomplication because the show explicitly tells us these are the kinds of things we have to worry about. Star unknowingly pushed monsters and humans (and mewmans who are also humans) together, all the while destroying any sort of power she and her family had.
TheMultiBrony Mal Just because they SAY it’ll be fine doesn’t mean us as the viewers should suddenly be alright with it. They have to show us that everything will be alright. Which is why the finale was shit for doing this. Just admit that the finale wasn’t good and move on
TheMultiBrony Mal I suppose opinions differ so I’m gonna respect you on that one. To me, this show was ruined not just by the finale but by the whole season with the shipping nonsense and useless filler episodes. The creators knew they would only have four seasons and should have paced this better
First season Star: “WE GOTTA STOP TOFFEE FROM DESTROYING ALL MAGIC!” Finale Star: “WE GOTTA DESTROY MAGIC BECAUSE IT’S GONNA..stop me from seeing my boyfriend?”
literally. and earlier in the show they had so many good plot point opportunities but freaking forgot about them. that's why i don't think they should have written things as it went like wtf was the point. but nooo its completely okay because star and marco got together! ugh
@shaquille mccray omg finally someone says something about Jackie's girlfriend! It annoyed me when people shipped Jackie and Tom. Like, you're just gonna dis Chloe like that? Dang
@shaquille mccray for real though. How many shows are out their where the goofy awkward dude ACTUALLY gets with his crush??? And it turns out she has more personality other than just being cool/hot/his crush? They had a good thing going ruined by plot purposes.
That wasn’t what convinced her to destroy the magic though. What convinced her was that there was no other way to save the monsters. She was literally willing to give up Marco to destroy it.
I know that I am late, but Daron said that she knew from the start that his show was going for 4 seasons. So... They rushed the show on porpuse, just because they decided to put more attention in the romance drama, that in the actual plot of the series
I also wanted to add something important that I feel I left out of the video. Marco's reaction to the whole situation was also terrible and possibly even worse than Star's. His entire concern was being with Star. Even though Heckapoo, who he's known for years through the Neverzone, is dead he doesn't mourn her at all. He'll also never see Kelly, who he used to date and was still good friends with, ever again yet he never once shows any concern about her or sadness that they'll forever be separated. It really shows how by the end so many of the side characters were completely disposable and the main thing you were supposed to care about was Starco. Treat your side characters with respect.
It also has come to my attention that some of the characters that I suggested died from the magic being destroyed might still be alive based on comments by people working on the show. My issue with that is that I shouldn't have to determine whether or not the main character of the story killed a bunch of innocent side characters based on what crew members said after the fact. When dealing with something so serious the effort should have been put in to show what was and what wasn't effected by the event instead of keeping it as vague as they did. I shouldn't have any thoughts that Star killed innocent characters whatsoever after finishing the episode. I shouldn't have to depend on word of god. This goes to show how badly rushed the finale was. And even if I fully accept these statements by the crew it doesn't change 95% of the arguments I have against this ending.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks “Destroying All Magic” was a bad idea. Like that idea just came out of nowhere I mean there must’ve been a different solution. All we got out of this was Starco and even that wasn’t good. All Star was thinking about was herself and didn’t think about the people who actually need magic.
I was hoping so much that by the end of the show star would show a lot more maturity and how she would try to correct the mistakes of the past queens and her dealing with injusitce and her not being a true butterfly This show doesnt diserve an ending like this Also it would have been nice if the moral of the shows finale was about consequences and making big decisions. Basically a theme that many young ppl (myself included) would like to see because the older you grow the more you are faced wirh all these big decisions Not to mention I WANTED TO SEE MORE OF THE PAST QUEENS?? LIKE IF WE GOT SOME FLASHBACK EPISODES OR IF STAR COULD IDK SOMEHOW CONTACT THEM AS SPIRITS YEA THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT I could go on for days with ideas of how i would change this finale
Which is kinda ironic since didn't star tell Eclipsa to stop thinking about herself but also her people? Gosh, seasons 1 and 2 was so fun, Season 3 was okay.. season 4 was boring and kinda forced. Ngl, I love Starco but. The other relationships quickly formed and ended kinda just ruins the vibe or something. Season 3 and 4 was just a lot to take and although I felt like they were aimed for a much more emotional tone. Season 2 finale did that best for me.
I feel like that's one of the things I left out. Ludo was genuinely my favorite character on the show. His character arc was excellent, but then he just stopped showing up. I loved his two episodes in S3 and 4, but I really wanted him to play a greater role in the story considering how important he was in the first 2. Instead we get 5 seconds in the last episode.
@@chernobylhobo7793 in his defense at the very least he got an end where it feels like he's finally happy and has become a proud leader surrounded by loving family. In comparison to how they treated characters like Tom and Kelly, who they kinda screwed over by the end and didn't even give any kind of satisfying resolution to, he got it a lot better then most even if he was underused.
@@chernobylhobo7793 If I got to continue Star vs. the Forces of Evil to a better finale (which absolutely much happen), I would do an arc with Ludo and Mina teaming up for revenge against Star. He got almost no appearances in Seasons 3 and 4! October 16, 2019, 8:27pm
@@PeruvianPotato I was both. Disney doesn't let shows last long enough and everyone including Daron Nefcy knew that. Then the crew just shat on the toilet and didn't flush by focusing on too much filler episodes.
I was so mad at Moon. She's meant to be the mature adult who never really showed any signs of distrust in Eclipsia until the end. There should've been a better character development in Star, but I don't blame her as much as Moon. Star is still young and it was in the moment ig. And let's just all be clear on one thing...I hate ponyhead. I've never liked her and the way she just brushes off the fact that her friends are suffering (and even dying) makes me hate her even more.
“I don’t trust Eclipsa “ well your the reason magic got corrupted in the first place cuz signing a peace treaty sounded too hard to you moon! And she’s also the reason Eclipsa’s truth was brought to light if anything she should apologize for trying to kill meteora instead of capturing her!
I loved season 1 the most bc Starco wasn't the "In Your Face" kind of thing. Also bc the animation really fitted the magical vibe the show was giving off
A bit late, but it was confirmed by the writers that they knew they'd only get four seasons, so if the finale was rushed, it's not because they had the rug suddenly pulled out from underneath them by Disney.
Moon is the embodiment of Telltale games. You do everything you can to make a certain character trust you and be your friend. But when the plot demands it, they’ll still stab you in the back with nothing more than a dialogue variation depending on your past choices.
And then the plot goes bankrupt and all the people who rely on magic have thirty minutes to either get ready for the chaos that follows or just flat-out DIE.
Toffee would have been proud of what Star did. Stopping his plan by doing exactly what he planned to do. Sonic: *to Star* Congratulations, you played yourself.
@@isaacvitela5131 I still deny that the Pokemon Sun and Moon Anime ever happened and I see no downsides like cmon, Ash wins the league by plot armor just utter kiddie garbage
We need to do a homestuck esque meat and candy timeline trick. Where some random bird or some crap changes the course of the timeline and retcons into the magic realm jacking up the magic destruction.
Nothing pisses me off more than them just railroading and abandoning Ludo's arch to rush it to an end in one episode and not even give him a Zuko style redemption and an opportunity to build a friendship with Star and Marco.
i feel like its a bit cliche to have another "villain being a partner with the hero" type, i would have much prefer ludo to be as a villain tbh hes so much entertaining to watch
@@lucklei4665 cliche, I suppose, but if done right, affective. From season one, Ludo never gave off like he was a legit villain. Hes always come off like hes conflicted about the things he does. Hes really bossy and has this sense of self-entitlement, but that's really only because he has complete idiots for minions who are so stupid it took Toffee pointing out his incompetence for them to finally mutiny on him.
@@lucklei4665 the point is, ludo was an integral part of the show, he was the first seasons villain, then in season 2 while being apart of a plot by toffee, he grew from a clown into a serious threat... season 3 stepped back from ludo but we still see ludo coming to terms with his position and place in the universe as well as dealing with fmaily issues... this never comes to a close, we are never shown if ludo became better, was able to stand up to his family, in fact for someone the show spent a lot of time and and developed, he was totally left out as many were in the ending... given how the writers worked on the show it's clear that they had no idea how or the time to resolve this character arc and so abandoned it.

It really bothering me how Toffee is constantly demonized by Daron herself when he not only has the lowest body count (he has only for sure killed ONE person in the entire series, two if you count him leaving Star to drown) and collateral damage out of all the villains, but is also confirmed correct and whose plan is carried out by Star. Plus, he wasn’t the one who committed genocide and multiverse wide chaos in the process of destroying magic. That was all Star.
@@Sehtareh hero? Absolutely not. Daron Nefcy has said herself multiple times that Toffee is like Magneto. He has the right idea but he went on about it in every wrong way possible
@@Sehtareh I'm not so sure about that, everyone was very quick to seem Star as the force of evil when her decision was really the best possible outcome
JB Studios How is Star’s decision the best outcome? Yes, she saved the monsters in Mewni, but think about societies that depended on magic, because those societies just collapsed. And what about magical beings. Not just the ones in the wand ALL magical beings are now dead. And without Omni who can check over time and space?Destroying magic also destroyed dimension jumping. Without dimension jumping no one can see anyone that is from a different dimension. Not to mention what about people in dimensions like the ones we see in the episode Bounce Lounge. Everyone in Rohbulus’s dimension was killed instantly because one of the people they show was making black hole so anyone in that dimension is dead. Star’s plan affected the entire MULTIVERSE, but the had done something else (Eclipsa’s plan) they would caused less damage even if it failed. Oh wait did I forget Star combined Earth and Mewni. I can talk about that if you would like.
"Star vs." always reeked of self-indulgent writing. Ideas are tried and abandoned at random, consequences are arbitrary and ignored, characters wax and wane to fit the story. Nefcy and her crew had zero discipline as writers. Some examples: "Marco should spend 16 years hunting down Hekapoo and get super buff! Who cares if he's technically an adult dating a minor?" "Marco should confess that he had feelings for Star from the moment they meant! Who cares if that cheapens literally all of their interactions, as well as his relationship with Kelly and Jackie?" "Moon should betray Star and Eclipsa! Who cares if there's no possible way we can setup, let alone follow-through, such a major character shift?"
i literally hate the idea that just because the two main characters are male and female that they have to date. the writers randomly shoved them together and acted like that would make the finale great or something. such a waste :(
There have been adult and family shows with terrible writings that lead to a terrible last season or even an awful finale so it's not like this only happens to kid shows, honestly a kid show is more likely to get a serviceable finale these days.
That's a good point. I was wondering why there were no reruns for it until it hit me that the way it ended probably had a bad reception. Though they still have old leftover segments of the show as commercials that I'm still seeing for some reason.
seconded! i really wish we could've seen more of eclipsa and globgor's interactions, too. i wanna know how they met, how they dealt with the change of being thrown centuries into the future, and i wanna know about what stuff they liked to do together- Even stories of them separately, telling what they both like and dislike, their individual hobbies, and whatever sort of stuff they do in their spare time.
maweebster 849 yeah, i get that. It is their story, i meant that i felt as though the entire universe's fate depended on these two being together, disregarding all else. They were the only two that truly mattered
At this point i feel its clear it wasnt just disney being Disney but also just incompetent directing overall. The show was already spoiling even before the end.
You know what would be marvelous?: a crossover film where bloom from winx, twilight from mlp, marinette from ladybug enter to star's universe, and since their magic was different, this still works, and they use it to "reignite"the magic there(because without it, both worlds were dying), and after that, a battle in avengers endgame style against star, with all the resucitated magical beings as their army...and at the end with marco ending with hekapoo, since star will get her painfull commeupance...
@TheMultiBrony Mal Not really, seasons 3 and 4 meandered around too long with no real real direction. Eclipsa and globgor were both disappointing and boring, time was wasted on love triangles only for starco to be forced in at the end, star and marco had their characters ruined from treating others like tom and kelly like shit, boring one off episodes that contributed nothing not even character development, decline in animation overall, boring setting with a bad race allegory and annoying characters, humor got really awkward, characters like the MHC/rhombulus/moon suffering severe character derailment for the sake of plot/other characters/pointless drama, star vs just turned into milk sitting out in the sun in a hot car. Looking back at seasons 1 and 2 it could have been so good.
That end bit where you theorized that Disney cut off the show early isn't true. The creators said that 4 seasons was always the plan. They just got lost in the shipping and the Mewni racism plotlines to the point it became incomprehensible.
@shaquille mccray Honestly, the shipping aspect didn't work in the first place because it would be weird as hell if your GF/BF had a best friend they spent the most time with. That alone creates a dynamic that forces weird ass relationships, or starco. (Which is shitty)
Unpopular oppinion: I think the story would make much more sense if Star and Tom would stay a couple and reunite Monsters and Mewmens under their Rulership as Queen and King. The conflict between Monsters and Mewmens is the reason War happend in the first place! Star wanted to end the racism and reunite Monsters and Mewmens. All that built-up of Toms character redemption arc and becoming a better loving boyfriend and Stars potential to mature and become the new Queen of Mewnie was thrown away just so that we can have an Apocalyptic nonsense ending with nothing but Star committing mass genocide on creatures who were powered by magic so that the "fans" can have their Starco bullcrap ending. From a writing narrative and story building perspective TomStar makes much more sense and the ending we got and the ridiculous support Starco ship get's is very disappointing.
Committing a different crime against humanity doesn't mean that the Mewmans will suddenly stop treating monsters horribly. Star, Moon, and Eclipsa should have known that.
Seeing how good The Owl House finale was with the time crunch they were given just further proves that Star vs the forces of evil had no excuse for how bad their ending was.
Was just thinking the exact same thing. It got cancelled before S3 was written but they managed to do a decent ending in three more specials. This show has nearly twice as many episodes and we got…this. I haven’t seen the show. Heard only the first half is good.
Tbh Jenna and almost Kelly wasn’t forced imo. Jenna was pretty tea considering he crushed on her for years and had a gradual growth into that relationship. Kelly and Marco related through their relationship hardships, they connected, and Marco supported her when she needed help getting her ex to move out. Not for the sake of being with her but just to help. She only spoke to Marco about her relationship issues. And once it was resolved they hung out more and fought together. And after fighting they realized they could be together. It got forced once they broke up almost immediately. I really only hated starco in the later seasons. It was honestly fucked up they ended it with a starco moment while everyone (mostly human) was screaming in terror and fear of all these things. I’m super convinced many humans died from accidents in the merger. Seriously don’t see how the show could end like that.
@@terrakage4462 Well the ending was rushed so was Season 4 so they had to compact everything and shove a relationship into 2/3 episodes which kinda feels unnatural even tho they had some sort of relationship on S2. The ending and S4 needed more work and to be extended.
@shaquille mccray it wasnt her it was Disney. The team has to complete tasks in a certain date or will face consequences but from what I heard SvTFoE will be bought by another company.... So fingers crossed
I honestly don't even think there was supposed to be a Fifth Season. Daron Nefcy had been notified in advance that the fourth season would be the last, and this was when the fourth season was in the writing phase. She even admitted in a Reddit AMA that she felt happy with what the show ended on, and that anyone saying the finale was rushed "just wanted more". As in, she completely shrugs off any complaints about what she wanted the finale to be under the rationale its just fans being angry the show was ending. It's honestly kinda insulting how she just brushed off criticism like that. Cause with the knowledge that she was aware this would be the final season as she writing it, doesn't mean the idea of a fifth season can be used as an excuse. There were no plans for a fifth season, the show ended as they wanted it too, so the ending we got screams less of being cut short, and more hack writing creating wasted potential.
Just wanted more? Just wanted more? We don't just want more, we want a better, un-lazier conclusion than the one Daron gave us! Of course we want more, but more importantly, we want BETTER! October 13, 2019, 9:44pm
Me, who just kinda lost interest in the show a few years ago: "Oh it couldn't have been that bad." *Star commits genocide and cripples countless dimensions* "Oh."
Thanos is a dumbass eco fascist who thinks committing mass genocide will give the universe more resources when that's clearly wrong from a scientific standpoint so Star is just as stupid as he is.
@CLVNES FILIÆ PARVVLÆ FINDAM its not only that. he believes in the lazy ants theory. when a population over grows. the impact of 1 person lessen together with the worth of his work. till the point that people becomes lazy. while those that do work have to support more people and has to work harder to make up for the lazy people. the competition disappears, and the need to step up raises.
It's a simple case of supply-demand from a biological standpoint. Reduction of a population exponentially decreases the overall consumption rate. The same population, with double the resources, would be consumed at a much higher rate. And none of that is factoring in the allowance for renewable resources to actually renew themselves instead of fully consumed. I'll never understand the lack of logic it would take to ignore all this and unironically question pop reduction.
@CLVNES FILIÆ PARVVLÆ FINDAM That's honestly the same mindset because he thinks taking out a large chunk of the ecosystem will stop resources from being used.
Furkan Efe Türeç what do you mean I think genocide is a great way to end a show and even better what thinking about how she stopped a genocide only to cause another one between monsters and humans
@@calmgoodfire4662 if it has dark themes and is not for children it is a good idea. If it's not then it can hurt the show or book internally and externally. The main ideas of a genocidal ending may work in some scenarios in fiction that was never intended for children. If it is aimed at a much older demographic then you may go for it, but explaining that to children is hard and overall a bad idea that will hurt your series overall.
To clarify to everyone, this video was released before Nefcy's AMA that revealed that this was the plan for the season and it wasn't the result of Disney suddenly killing the show. I can’t believe you guys didn’t enjoy the finale, it was epic. And there’s so much potential with both their worlds colliding as one, it’s a symbol of stars and Marcos love really
Im just mad that tom never got the healthy relationship he deserves, and actively worked towards.
ikr honestly. Star was horrible to him. He deserved better
And Janna doesn’t count never really liked Janna she seemed kind of a bitch
We didn’t even see him in the end!!
@@austinjohnsen4430 That's foreced starco that the crew didn't bother to develop naturally, so suddenly nothing matters except Marco.
So, I guess Star IS the force of evil.
I heard the title of the show originally supposed to be Star AND the forces of evil, because everyone is (in this show) grey, not just simply evil or an angel. (Maybe this information is false, but it sounds logical to me.)
Yeah
Remember they were hinting at Star using dark or green magic and it went nowhere
The show was suppose to be Star and the Forces of Evil so...
The Butterfly Effect!
Basically this ending: Child commits mass genocide and laughs at the bodies of her now dead friends.
It's ..... Ugh
Mister Starc me bad
January 9, 2020, 10:45pm
But wait!
@@adampkalb also, keep the magic that way there are portals and stuff
Agreed ugh
Their existence didn't deserve to continue anyway
Edgar Madrid .......because?
Ummm Father Time isn’t a magical being. It doesn’t make sense but nothing in season 4 does.
Yeah but shouldn't destroying of magic also kill Ponyhead? Like, she's a horse head. How does she survive without magic?
likable character: seperated or died
ponyhead, mina and moon: lives happily ever after
They wanted someone around that was (unrealistically) unharmed in order to justify Star's actions and thought process. But, as one would expect, it came off as patronizing, dismissive, vapid, shallow, and morally confused.
@The Phantom your underestimating the hatred that goes to ponyhead
@The Phantom lets just say that if ponyhead got crippled or even better died, then the show wouldve been no doubt 10/10 if they showed in full scene ponyhead coughing up blood while on the floor and while people are throwing rotten vegetables and spitting on her, a huge rock falls on her, leaving nothing behind. CinnaBonsaii I do admit Marco got a little annoying but I do like how he got to use the wand again
I dunno. Kind of felt that way about him from the beginning.
That was just simpe character development.
Marco was always being safe, but Star flung him into the madness that is her life and always Marco would come out somewhat fine.
That build his confidence over time. Eventually he was used to the madness
Responding to every Spinel avatar I see
I'm 100% blaming the writers on this.

So, moral of the story is that toffee was right, star is a sociopath and it all meant nothing
Toffee was the only threatening villain in the entire show
@TheMultiBrony Mal bro, chill, it's an opinion
@TheMultiBrony Mal She committed mass genocide and ruined millions of lives then just smiled and laughed it off. What does that sound like to you?
We've spent all this time slowly seeing Star become more grown up and responsible, but especially that she realized that not the whole world revolved around her, but then that's just thrown out the window :(
@idontneed one Moon's mistake still doesn't justify Star's actions. She wasn’t so stripped of options that she had no other choice. She simply got fed up with things enough that wanted to just get rid what she personally thought was the source of all their problems (an opinion that comes out of nowhere btw).

I am going to write a serious angry complaint letter to Daron Nefcy, deliver my letter to her in person, and demand she take my Season 5 scripts that I have been writing since the end of Season 2! That will wipe the satisfied smug "my series is over and there's nothing you complainers can do about it" look off her face! 😡 October 13, 2019, 9:48pm

Or After They Defeated Toffee.

I think Marco's relationship with Kelly was just simply a replacement for Jackie since Marco wouldn't be seeing her or most of the Earth characters much for the rest of the series. Unfortunately, it can’t even be said that this is true.
TheMultiBrony Mal it’s the writer’s fault, you abide by the contract. Not try to bend it to fit your will, which is how we ended up with this terrible mess.

Who cares about that! She got with her lover at the end am I right? So committing that genocide just to meet her lover was worth it right guys???

Seriously though, Toffee just took the biggest W in cartoon villain history. He literally just won the whole thing.
I guess we know where Daron Nefcy stands on the gun debate
Yeah, it's like if in GF the solution to get rid of Bill is to get rid of all magic weirdness in Gravity Falls.
I think they destroyed the magic because all the war and fights Star JUST had would never end. There would be more bad people wanting magic and being racist in the point where magic is used for exterminating the ones you don't understand or innocent people, if the evil got their hands on it. I guess the point is:
Magic = Endless war for power and mass destruction/murder

@@aman7930 Adam, was killed to ship Bumblebee...
@@espio329 and that ship became an horrendous parody of itself. good job rooster teeth...
It should be about relationships, not just ships. A relationship is dynamic and engaging and can tell a story just as much as the overarching plot.
All she wanted in the end was starco and sacrificed the amazing storytelling for it
Yeah, that was grave mistake.
Yeah about that, what she did was grave mistake.
Star: "magic is awful it's used to hurt people, Im going to destroy it so monsters and mewmans can't be hurt."
Star: *fuses two worlds into one without any warning, throwing both monsters and humans into chaos, leading humans (who are the same as Mewmans) into a situation where weird creatures with completely alien habits are suddenly all over the world and trying to reorient themselves.*
Star wanted to stamp out a forest fire.
She ended up lighting the entire world on fire. How is she going to bring peace to an entire PLANET of people without magic?
@TheMultiBrony Mal
Am I really?

So... They rushed the show on porpuse, just because they decided to put more attention in the romance drama, that in the actual plot of the series
thank you for bringing that up disney only takes 1% of the blame maybe 0

Toffee wanted to do it too and that somehow makes it worse. He was killed trying to do what Star did
Just like in magi lol
I was hoping so much that by the end of the show star would show a lot more maturity and how she would try to correct the mistakes of the past queens and her dealing with injusitce and her not being a true butterfly
This show doesnt diserve an ending like this
Also it would have been nice if the moral of the shows finale was about consequences and making big decisions. Basically a theme that many young ppl (myself included) would like to see because the older you grow the more you are faced wirh all these big decisions

Ludo got did dirty and no one ever mentions it
I feel like that's one of the things I left out. Ludo was genuinely my favorite character on the show. His character arc was excellent, but then he just stopped showing up.

True meaning of story: destroy all that was useless to her without thinking about how this will affect others.
"Star vs." always reeked of self-indulgent writing. Ideas are tried and abandoned at random, consequences are arbitrary and ignored, characters wax and wane to fit the story. Nefcy and her crew had zero discipline as writers. Some examples:
"Marco should spend 16 years hunting down Hekapoo and get super buff! Who cares if he's technically an adult dating a minor?"
"Marco should confess that he had feelings for Star from the moment they meant! Who cares if that cheapens literally all of their interactions, as well as his relationship with Kelly and Jackie?"
"Moon should betray Star and Eclipsa! Who cares if there's no possible way we can setup, let alone follow-through, such a major character shift?"
When I read the word "reeked," I knew you were being serious as fuck.

@shaquille mccray Trump would be like FUCK monster time to NUKE
What was even the point of marco getting stabbed???
Some drama
Come on, it's Disney. It NEEDS a drama, a moment that your heart stops beating, even though the drama is bad written
I’m saying! I started freaking out then it like faded away and I was so confused of the point of the stab.. like umm... huhH?
Because Disney loves shoving forced drama since 2017...
It must have been a part of an earlier draft that the Cleaved writers forgot to remove. November 17, 2019, 2:40am
For the trailer? Lol.
I remember it was out and everyone was gasping and in the actual show...pffft
I made this video before the AMA. It became clear after that that a large part of the blame falls squarely on her shoulders.
Just wanted more? Just wanted more? We don't just want more, we want a better, un-lazier conclusion than the one Daron gave us! Of course we want more, but more importantly, we want BETTER! October 13, 2019, 9:44pm
I would rather have the series end with a cliffhanger than with a rushed ending
Me, who just kinda lost interest in the show a few years ago: "Oh it couldn't have been that bad."
*Star commits genocide and cripples countless dimensions*
"Oh."
I rewatched it.
I did lose interest in early season 2 when it came out, but I rewatched it on Disney+ so I watched this video...
So, does this mean Star gets the Thanos award for best thoughtless genocide all for the feels?
Thanos is a dumbass eco fascist who thinks committing mass genocide will give the universe more resources when that's clearly wrong from a scientific standpoint so Star is just as stupid as he is.
@CLVNES FILIÆ PARVVLÆ FINDAM its not only that. he believes in the lazy ants theory. when a population over grows. the impact of 1 person lessen together with the worth of his work. till the point that people becomes lazy. while those that do work have to support more people and has to work harder to make up for the lazy people.
the competition disappears, and the need to step up raises.
CLVNES FILIÆ PARVVLÆ FINDAM i mean he probably could make himself immortal with infinity gauntlet
Disney: is known to be magical and celebrates magic
Also Disney: has a character from one of their shows destroy magic because it's bad
M Froggy18 don’t worry Disney won’t be promoting the newer season that much
How to *NOT* end a show.
Furkan Efe Türeç what do you mean I think genocide is a great way to end a show and even better what thinking about how she stopped a genocide only to cause another one between monsters and humans
@@calmgoodfire4662 Nope.
