I agree with Niknak that Asterios' and Euryale's relationship is probably the best part of the early Singularities and the only truly good thing about Okeanos (Blackbeard being cringe can be funny but I wouldn't say it was handled anywhere near as well as Asterios and Euryale). Those two get SO MUCH content, they are featured together in several Interludes and they have an entire play in Salem where in they are essentially transplanted into Journey to the West, it's probably one of the best handled romances in the franchise. It being fairly wholesome puppy love helps a lot too methinks. Which is extra funny since she's a midget and he's like two basketball players fused together in size.
A small detail that I feel has to be added: due to the way that Monstrous Strength works, Asterios COULD become more traditionally bullheaded if he keeps using it for too long. Others like Medusa begin taking on their most famous monstrous qualities when they overuse the skill and Asterios' is the highest rank in the franchise, so he should be incredibly susceptible to it even if he hasn't been portrayed yet. Also, for the next Servant...are we finally tackling Gilles? Or I guess if we're going by his monster personality, "Bluebeard"?
There are two characters in Fate that are not quite children that give me the feeling they mentally are children for the most part, as both are monstrous and hinted to be monsters from noble human families that (for very different reasons) faced some developmental challenges that might have impeded on their maturity. There are quite a few similarities (and some striking differences) between Ibaraki Douji and Asterios. One tries to embrace being the monster as an answer to the world (and had a whole peer group of monsters after a while), the other was an abandoned boy who was forced to act like a monster as that was in the only chance in his solitude.
@jkosch thats a pretty good comparison actually. Another comparison to be made between them is their opinion on eating human flesh, something both did out of necessity (Asterios) or because they thought it was proper of a monster to do so (Ibaraki) but both absolutely hated doing it and ceased to do so when it became convenient for them (Asterios upon being summoned since he can just eat mormal things now and Ibaraki the moment she realized she could just eat sweets instead. The latter also had said opinion reinforced in Summer 3 when she was given proper foods to eat and she loved it perfectly fine).
That Theseus gifts the master his magic ball of thread is so cool, the amount of useful and straight out cool gifts the master has from his servants is astonishing Like the Sphinx cub that Ozzy gives you, it's too bad the writers never incorporate them in the story
1:11:26 I think that the two axes together are a symbol of the labyrinth comes from name for the double headed axe Labrys (Arther Evans was a big proponent of that idea).
True, and that's likely the reason why they chose to do it for Fate lol, I just hate to give him too much credit lol, especially since I don't particularly love what he did in Knossos with the "reconstructions"
@@t.h.e.animeclub My teacher for Greek straight up called Evan's Knossos: "Disneyland of Archaeology". He also had some select word for Schliemann carving his way through the actual late Bronze Age layers in Troy.
Hehe, so did I in my recent bachelor's thesis, which was entirely focused on all the ways archaeology has changed since schliemann and Evans with a focus in Greece. I have a friend who has a hate Shrine to them to remind her to never be like them XD
@jkosch i remember that Supergiant's Hades made a similar connection between the Labrys and the Labyrinth. Asterios in Hades also wields a two headed Labrys axe and you can decorate the House of Hades with Minoan decorations that show off the Labrys directly. I actually have a theory that Fate's Asterios might have been an inspiration for the one in Hades, since they share quite a few details between them (a much more heroic portrayal, becoming dear friends with Theseus after death, specifically wielding a Labrys in battle) though they obviously differ greatly in personality so it could very well be coincidental or both took inspiration from similar sources.
A Servant not covered yet that was in one of the CEs you looked at today ... hmmm. Geronimo was there. There also was the the not CE traveling picture that had Tagong Wang, but as it was a CE in the hint I'll stick with Geronimo.
One detail that I love is that both Asterios and Theseus share the same field with their final arts, like Asterios is finally able to go outside the labyrinth and is with Theseus.
I really like what they did with both servants.. Personally would love to see more Asterios and Theseus hanging out, I really did end up liking what they did with him (Now we just need Ariadne to get a servant eventually) For the hint.. Out of the Servants i can't recall you doing that were in CE's, We have Geronimo.. who maybe but honestly i dont think fits for the whole theme of the month, Taigong wang who also doenst fit either... Then we have Gilles de Rais(I can't recall him being done before at least).. Ya ok, Spooky monster month him i could see, Also him being another of the oldest servants also fits
Ahhh, the good Greek boi Asterios and the namesake of a naval-themed thought experiment! I like Asterios. His character is simple yet he carries tragedy with him, but is ultimately saved with friendship and love!....well the Asterios we summon at least, the other ones? Not so much... I don't really have any strong opinions on Theseus, if only because I haven't met him yet because NA server and I only know the story of how he overcame the Minotaur. But from what I've read of his profile and my room lines, he seems like a relatively nice dude who had to do some messed up things in order to complete his mission and now uses his afterlife to make up for it. Also it's funny now he just has a single moob out. LOL Fun? Fate Fact! Theseus' gauntlet in his ascensions is not an ordinary gauntlet, but Asterios' bull mask. I assume Theseus kept in remembrance of the poor lad after their fated encounter in the labyrinth. (Also the mask is secured onto his arm using Ariadne's thread.) For next week's hint, I'm gonna say it's Gilles de Rais. Because the only other monster shown in this video's CEs is Mephy who was already covered before.
Asterios is my favorite Servant hes been with me so long and would be 120 material if i didnt have other projects i was working on. it was actually his interulde that finally sold me on him all he wants is for you t hold his hand and call him Asterios

It was one of the best things about the first 5 Singularities, but for Okeanos specifically I have to say that I also enjoyed Drake.

I like the fact that you can see he goes from holding the ball of thread to using it to tie asterios’ mask to him as armor

We got spider man Theseus
And big happy bull boy

One great fluffy boy and his friend(?)
These two boys are very "son"-coded

Ha, this time I can watch the whole thing as it drops, as I have tomorrow off. Huzzah!
"Theseus, the greatest monster"... idk about that, Agamemnon exists and he's probably the worst Greek "hero" ever
We can collectively agree than many, many, many Greek heroes are not the best.....or even good lol
Guess who is getting an animation update?
Asterios is a good boy
floofy boi
