Thank you Davina! YES, I see steampunk in almost everything, haha. The guy with the now colorful waistcoat AND the one with all the medals. Yup, steampunk ish.
Thank you for making this video! So glad I bumped into it on UA-cam. As a volunteer at our local historical society, I have access to so many old books and photos that are not relevant to our county and are deaccessioned. This video gives me multiple ideas for how to incorporate vintage materials in my cardmaking!
Your list of techniques is very inspiring Kathleen. The photos you found are a great base. It's good to be reminded of how I can use my decorative chalks from years ago too.
Great ideas and every single one worth to apply. I am especially drawn to the chalking bit, have to dig in my supplies to find the chalk paint. And certainly I will have a lookout for those books with the vintage fotos. As always, Kathleen, terrific tutorial!!
Great video, Kathleen!! So wonderful to see these ideas altogether. A great way to use pictures in old books! I bet it would be fun to try some of these ideas on some of the Tim Holtz pictures, too! I’ll be looking through my old books again, soon! Thanks for the inspiration. 😃❤️

Thank you, I i the middle of going through copies of old family photos that my aunt had, trying to pass some of it off to other family members. What was a box of overwhelming items, is starting to come together. This will help me put things together.
Great techniques! Fantastic ❤. I’m thinking flourish stamps would be good too. FYI I have 2 sets of those chalks. One technique I used to do with them is take and use the Versamark and stamp an image. While it was still tacky take a Q-tip or cotton ball pick up some chalk and brush on to it. I loved doing it. It created a nice effect. 😊
It's been a while since I've used my chalks, and I have a nice palette, same brand as yours! I need to get those out today! Also, I purchased some pens, more like markers, several years ago. I bought the set "vintage". It had beautiful skin tones, soft pinks and lavenders, and greys of various shades. They were especially designed to color on photos and photo paper. I need to see if I still have those! Thanks for the great ideas... mostly for the helpful reminders!
I’m new, just subscribed, loved these techniques. The decorative chalks l had picked up at a yard sale but didn’t have a clue how to use them. Now I know!
Oh Kathleen, what an incredible video - i love all the TEN ways to transform a book page photo and now you are helping me to see these photos in a different way. I always want to have some kind of connection to what I put in my journals but the way you transformed these photos it making me think that photos of random people can have a place in my journal - love it! One of my favourite techniques of yours is the way you emboss on part of an image/photo/paper. I am always looking for the embossing folder like the one you have used here as I love the styles/curves etc. I have not found it yet - can you please share the name of it. I know it's probably an old one but I love looking on Facebook marketplace when people are selling their old embossing folders. I love the classic styles! On a separate note, I also love the chalking to colour the photos - great idea! I think your 10 ideas will be the theme for the next playdate with my JJ friend
