Very insightful video mate, nice to put a voice to the bloke lurking in the background of Jays vids. I hope to get out there for a look next May with a view to eventually retiring there. Keep it up anyway. 👍

I live 25k south of Chiang mai. November, December, January, and half of February, the weather is perfect. Cool in the morning and evening. Below 30c in the afternoon. There is no need for air con this time of the year. March, April, and May are the hottest months, and then it cools down when the rain arrives.

My five baht on temperature after +15 years of working and living in Bangkok:
Some expats really abuse air conditioning, we all know that.
We can all relate to that hot, humid slap in the jaw you get directly from the plane when you get out of suvanaphumi, many sit and sleep so much with low ac temperatures in their condos that every day becomes a repetition of that punch.
The body never adapts to the heat, the humidity and the climate, and often they are cold with a runny nose and a sore throat as a bonus..several times every month from the ac.

I have really mixed thoughts about Thailand. Like have a girlfriend that's really attractive and mostly OK, but has some really shitty habits. Hard not to be into her but hard not to get pissed off at her at times. Thailand same same.

Thanks for giving a true review.
UA-camrs do over play Thailand a lot.
You didn't mention anything about immigration or visas and the bureaucracy.
I've been visiting since the late 1990s. Had setup my plan to retire to Thailand. However, after visiting over the past two years it's definitely not the same anymore. Not sure I'll be retiring here now. But I'm in Australia, so the weather is not really the issue, but all the changing of visa rules, options, prices, requirements etc over the past couple of decades has me losing interest as who knows what the rules or requirements will be in 5 or even 10yrs time.

Cheers, Ant! Good to see your honest opinion, mate! I already follow Jay & Dave, this is where I first saw you. Humidity is my only worry, although I survived 2 weeks in Southern Mexico, Acapulco in the 80s, only 250 miles difference from the equator. As I left my hotel, I was totally wet within 5 minutes. I didn't mind it during the day, but going out at night... I was used to it by the end of the holiday. That being said, the UK has become a total shithole of a place. I am still planning to retire in Thailand, but keep my home in the UK. Keep the vids coming, mate!

I've lived in a non tourist area in northern Thailand for15 years. So, I needed to learn to speak basic Thai, enough to buy goods and order food and drink in a restaurant (no English language menu's here). But most restaurants and hotels in Bangkok cater to English speaking tourists and have English menus. If you can't adapt to the Asian culture, the heat and the bugs you won't last.

@Toneinthailand I found Bangkok to be the worst climate to cope with in Thailand. Made worse with all the traffic. If you're not their for work or business, you may want to consider relocating to other more comfortable and much more affordable places like Pattaya or Chiang mai. Both have expat communities and are less polluted. Good luck with your stay 👍
