Fantastic to see a British woman take a homegrown idea and turn it into a successful business in an upscale mall in Bangkok. Well done Julia. Women like you are an inspiration to young girls like my daughter.

I have lived in Thailand long enough that you just don’t open up a business without having the finances, and a Thai partner you can trust. The restaurant looks very spacious and modern, ( not a hole in a wall) so I felt there was a big gap in this successful entrepreneur story. Who was “we”? “We decided to open the cafe.” Big money is needed to open such a business and someone has to know the restaurant business- not how to bake banana bread. Julia’s personality is very likable and comes off as a leader in anything she does. I wish her the best.
True, the devil is in the details. I’ve also heard that a Thai partner is a must for any business. If it works for her then is great but in reality things are much harder. Healthy food, vegan food and all those new age dietary tendencies are good but I much rather sell to 80% of the population and appeal to the masses rather than a small segment. Her restaurant looks awesome and good luck to her but I also feel lots of details are missing.
What a cool lady Pete! Love her story & the questions you asked her….I’m so glad you made an interview with a woman who is strong minded and exciting to watch! Thanks for another great video 🙏
No healthy food in Thailand? There is limitless amount of fresh healthy food in Thailand, especially compared to the UK. Regardless, good luck to her that she is doing so well.
That's only because nobody is testing for pesticides, mercury, arsenic, and other heavy metals. When I was an expat the Thai farmers were still using DDT. The Bangkok air had THE highest lead content in the world.
Great story and huge congrats to Julia! To start a business is not an easy task anywhere in the world, but to start a food business and be successful in Thailand where you can get all kinds of food at literally every step is an amazing accomplishment!!! Nice work Julia!

Glad to see a British Woman explain about being 'left on the side'. Basically, the complete opposite to London. Unless your rich, famous or excessively good looking you get 'left on the side' in London. British women fall for these foreigners in London but foreign women in London seem to avoid English Guys who approach them like we're only after one thing or like we're something worse and should be avoided for their own safety. You see it in the Nightclubs, Bars everywhere in London. Average White British Male in London you don't stand much chance. However if your Female you have your pick of Guys in London - Native or Foreign. I lived in London for 5 years and Bangkok for nearly as long. This Woman speaks the truth.
Great interview, although I was confused when she spoke about not being able to find any healthy food in Thailand when she originally came. Thailand is rich is fruits and so many meals can be prepared raw with no meat like papaya salad , coconut soup, etc… Thai cuisine is world famous for being able to use so little ingredients but still taste so good. I ate at some vegan resteraunt in Bangkok and they were all delicious, I’ll have to stop at her restaurant and try something out.
Loved this interview. Some info really haven't seen elsewhere. What an inspiration; wishing her all the best and will be sure to drop by the Cafe when next in Emquartier
No healthy food or deserts in Thailand???? the fresh fish..wow. She's talking about healthy fast food. what about the amazing fresh fruits they sell on the street (or they used to 20 years ago).
I really enjoy this channel and wish you all the best...unfortunately for me a LOT of this story doesn't add up. It is not cheap to fit out and rent space in Emquartier. How many highly priced vegan cakes can you sell in Bangkok? There is no shortage of delicious desserts in Bangkok, arguably some of the best dessert selection (Thai and Western) in the world. Thailand is where I first discovered Banana Bread 20 years ago. And successfully running the business while being in England for 7 months during Covid? Not meaning to be negative and she is a great lady that I wish all the best but there are some gaping holes in this story (acknowledging you cant fit someone's entire life into a 20 minute interview). Thanks for creating the video and to the Banana Warrior for doing the interview.
Exactly what i thought.....Banana cake yum...............Vegan banana cake great if you’re a vegan! Central high-rise Bangkok!.......... real estate prices are expensive...................Thais and most SE Asian are not Vegans, that’s not an opinion it’s a fact, unless Daddy is one of the supper rich and sent children OS for 6 years in the west pretending to do a Uni degree..................love this channel and great work, but something is missing here???

Having opened a number of cafes and restaurants myself and as a professional patisserie chef, I would like to know more about this story.I wonder how you go from making banana bread at home into having 10 staff and a large shop in Bangkok in only 7 years, it is not cheap to open a shop.
I agree , there is so much missing to this story imo. Pete perhaps you could get her to explain the ownership/financial side more . But that aside you make interesting videos
@@andyhoyle511agree. The cafe seems to be at EMQuartier. Definitely a very expensive location. Very expensive to get started. No customers in the cafe, yet she wears a gold Rolex watch ... Top man mate 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😊
I'm a western guy in my mid 50s, I've lived almost 50 years in Asia and 14 here in Bangkok. It took me 6 years to find myself a western girlfriend in Bangkok, but the wait was definitely worth it.
Not all guys want to date Asians, even though they can look nice.
Looks mean naff all
Congrats! Pete. Super nice lady! Great questions and honest answers. Life is always ups and downs but like Julia. We all make loads of choices daily. Actions turn dreams into reality. It will either work or not work. Either way you will learn something.
Absolutely Martin, win or learn
Julia whatever you do, follow your instincts, you’ve been brave, you’ll meet the right guy, when you want to. Pete great interview

Thanks very much Paul
An amazing interview. I was mesmerised by Julia’s answers to your questions. She has personality, intelligence, telling her story and experiences with an enormous amount of credibility. Quite frankly,I didn’t want the interview to end. Great job both of you!
I couldn’t say it any better. I think we’ll have to ask Julia to do another one
I love interviews like this as I am a single woman thinking of retiring in Thailand in the future
Great interview. She's beautiful and engaging. I'm an Irish woman living in Phangnga. I agree completely with her thoughts on the dating scene here. In my experience, it's very rare to see a western woman with a Thai man.
Glad you enjoyed it 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪☘️

Congrats on 20k, you deserve it so much :)
Thanks very much 🙏🙏
Great interview. What a beautiful, smart woman. Good for her.
Good interview with a quality person.
Having opened a number of cafes and restaurants myself and as a professional patisserie chef, I would like to know more about this story.I wonder how you go from making banana bread at home into having 10 staff and a large shop in Bangkok in only 7 years, it is not cheap to open a shop.
Must confess I was thinking the same thing. There has to be more to this story from a financial perspective (start up capital specifically).
She can have only hold 49% of the company .....
I agree , there is so much missing to this story imo. Pete perhaps you could get her to explain the ownership/financial side more . But that aside you make interesting videos
Ummmm…. contacts she has garnished herself with her positive attitude & vibe? (Occams razor) Cheers
@@andyhoyle511agree. The cafe seems to be at EMQuartier. Definitely a very expensive location. Very expensive to get started. No customers in the cafe, yet she wears a gold Rolex watch ... Unfortunately his interviews are mostly entertaining and hardly ever get to the bottom. She told him a fairy tail and he went with it ... there was no healthy food in Thailand 😂 then goes and makes banana bread 😂
Another great interview.
Thanks James
Technically what she saying is true, generally speaking, western women prefer westerb men and thai/asian men prefer asian women. Why would they go to thailand if they are after a relationship with western men !
Rainy season in May?! Very interesting interview, well done
Yep
Congratulations to 20 K 100K soon.
Thank you very much mate. Onwards and upwards
Confident, articulate, beautiful, successful & funny. Julia is nice too 😀top interview Pete, best Nick
Thanks Nick
Super inspiration to western ladies out there. She's intelligent and honest. More of western ladies perspective please.
Glad you liked it. I’ll keep my eyes peeled
Beautiful.... Julia that is .. not you Pete ha ha!! Loved the story and well done Julia for what you have achieved so far
Haha I thought I was getting a compliment there for a second
Great interview Pete! 👏👏
Thanks mate
inspiring story! plus, she's a smoke show! good job Julia!
Great interview, Julia's enthusiasm is infectious and she is probably one of those people destined to succeed at whatever challenge she takes on because of her innate determinations
Brilliant Pete..here's to 50k subs this time next year..my birthday today
Happy Birthday Mark roll on another year 👍🏼👍🏼😂☺️
Enjoyed this one Pete ..
Thanks Jon
Another first-rate interview! This lady is immediately charming! She can build that business without limit, as she wants. The secret is: "It's NEVER easy!" I've had a very close Indian-Brit lady friend and business partner -- purely platonic -- and would love to socialize and be a friend to this talented lady, too. Alas, my Bangkok days are over.
Lovely lady. I like her comment about not making dating important.
Cheers Mick, I thought that was a great comment too
Well... it can't be. According to Julia, its all rubbish anyway.
Great, Mauritius is our immediate neighbours. I am from Seychelles. I will pass by this cafe soon. 🇸🇨🇸🇨
Check it out mate
Another good one. She is right Pete, you do ask good and concise questions.
Thanks mate 🙏🙏
Wow good content do some more women expats and how they thrive and be successful in Thailand and good job mate and congratulations on 20k subscribers and counting mate!
