Something I need to be better about. I let things bother me too easily especially when someone says something cruel or untasteful first, I just stoop so much lower and say things you should just never say to people and then I regret it later.

Later I caught him using one of my recipes for my healthy meals. That's when I knew whatever hes asking me for something he was not going to get from me.

College was a terrible mistake for me. I already had a business and was making money in my 20’s doing something I loved. I’m lucky I was able to attend college and exit with zero debt. But I have NEVER, yet, worked a day in what I studied. 26 years later... I hate my job, most of the time, but it pays well enough to support my values and allows my wife to stay home and raise our children. My advice, acquire skills that pay the bills and do things that you enjoy. Don’t compromise your values, ever.

College is amazing. People underestimate how much it can spur your personal growth. But it's not worth it if you go into debt for it. You'll regret that - I know I do. Just remember that you can 100% do college without debt. There are a bunch of ways. And you can always do it later, there is truly no rush.

For the college part I would say: Go to college when you are ready. It took me few years of working, travelling a little and trying new things to realize and take my time to research what I wanna study. I found a profession that I would have never known about if I rushed to college, it is more niche. I might finish my degree when I turn 30-31 but I am happy I didn't rush. I know people who rushed and they have bachelors degrees and are younger than me but are doing the same job as me and have no idea what they wanna do. People in USA often go to college for fun and the "experience" not really thinking about the future.
I have also had chance to save some money and I will be debt free with a degree and basically having a fresh start but it will pay off. Go to college, but invest well, find profession that will pay the debt off.

As a “woman of a certain age” (old) I have to throw in a little bit of a brag about my grandson. He is just now graduating from college at the age of 24. The reason why it took him so long is because he worked very hard in between semesters - sometimes taking entire semesters off - so that he could work and pay his tuition. As a result, he is graduating totally debt-free with a sensible (engineering) degree that he will be able to earn a good salary right out the block. Smart young man.

I 100 percent learned more in one year (this year) alone from research and videos then I did 2.5 years in college. Wish I could’ve avoided the lil debt but that’s where failures come in to learn from. I’m just greatful I didn’t wait my whole half of my 20s to graduate and do something Id hate. Lost everything, but I found myself. I would add, read a lot of good books! you mature and learn to think. I recommend the Bible! even if you don't believe in God at the moment. Being Bible literate is important, all kinds of Wisdom, knowledge, history. Helped me a ton, and I probably wouldn't be in this situation if I had gotten to it earlier in life. It really is a Divine Book and you'll be surprised how much others draw from Bible knowledge, like TV shows, music, secular books, etc.

I'm 25, recently graduated from a 4 year Recreational Therapy program and was in college since I was 18 initially pursuing nursing (before making the switch) because it was what my family wanted. Working about 75 hours bi-weekly and I don't even know if I wanna stay in the Rec Therapy field or move on and go back to school to pursue social work or something else. There are days where I want to bash my head against the wall because I feel like a failure for not having my life more together by this age, but watching this video really helped bring me some peace and made me realize I still have time to figure things out for myself. I made the choice to completely quit drinking about 6 months ago, and quit smoking pot 2 years ago. Feeling all this pressure and anxiety in your 20s can be such a killer. It's really important to stop and smell the roses, recognize the little victories throughout your week, understand you don't have to live to please other people and that no matter how many times you may screw up in your life you are still worthy and enough.

Good stuff! I am in my forties and a lot of this is great. Definitely the don’t be afraid to fail. Just don’t be afraid at all. There is nothing on the other side of fear. Go out and do it. You only get one go around in this life. I will say education is very important. College might not be for everyone but learning is life long. If you don’t get a degree at least get certified or licensed in what you want to do. Society wants that at a minimum. Sad but true. For me, my big thing was starting a UA-cam channel through this pandemic. I have been thinking about it for a while and i decided to start it with my iPhone. Jeremy, I found your channel just a few weeks ago. Being the same age as you, this segment really spoke to me. Especially #5. Prior to this pandemic if I was not moving, I was sleeping. Work (I have an awesome job) and 2 teenage boys in sports left little time for anything else. During 100 days of quarantine the world became very quiet. For the first time in my life I was able to hear my own thoughts and calm what I now know to be chaos. Things once taken for granted have be come trivial. Slowing down gave me new courage and insight to your other 4 items. I have lost 31 lbs since March, started practicing Yoga with my wife, and I have been reading a book a week. I found time to pick up my wood working tools and build again. I also began a deep dive into the exploration of Whiskey and Bourbon. I too have a beard and tattoos, not nearly as epic as yours! Keep doing what you do!

  • @twitchblues
    @twitchblues 4 роки тому +6

Can't say how much I agree with the "slow down," thought. My teenage years were rough. My 20s, stabilized and fault like they moved faster. Only a couple of years into my 30s, and they feel like they are flying by. Whatever you have going on, good, bad, or otherwise, don't let it pass without notice.
Also: Good whiskey selection. Woodford Double-Oaked is always a popular selection at the cigar bar I run...though maybe not as popular as a lot of the Buffalo Trace stuff (BT, Eagle Rare, Blantons, etc.)

I have been 5 years out of high school and I can say not going to College was the best decision I have ever made! I would have been depressed an would have dropped out and would have been a waste of money. Creating is my career line! I was playing shows all over Los Angeles growing my band and doing UA-cam on and off now back to it full time! Not going to school gives you the full creative freedom of what you want to do with YOUR life!

Look, that "college isn't the answer" thing is cool for someone that has options, but I don't, my family doesn't have any money to spare, I'm starting from zero with absolutely no financial support from anyone other than myself and what I earn from work, and unfortunately there isn't any trade job out there that interests me. I started college with the intent to take as many math and science courses as I could, of course with my budget I have to take it slow. Earning my associates isn't really a difficult task, community College at worst is still affordable out of pocket. In all honesty the military is an attractive option for someone like me, especially after I earn my associates. I work at a restaurant, I don't want to be stuck at a low skill job like this my entire life. If I had to say one job that I truly desired, it's to be a pilot in the military whether it be the navy or air force, it doesn't really matter to me, but for that I need a degree, it's an officer position.

Just because your parents don’t have money doesn’t mean you have no opportunities. My parents never afforded me any crazy opportunities and never gave me any professional connections in life. I worked many different jobs, met many different people, and created and found many opportunities all on my own. I’ve gone from minimum wage dairy farming, to working in a plumbing union just because of the money, while there I ended up starting a business, left the plumbers union went back to farming, did warehouse work, then worked at UPS for a few years making decent money until now where I own my own business again. And even though I took a risk to do what I’m doing now I’m setting myself up to make the most money I’ve ever made my whole life. I haven’t watched the whole video yet but your comment about your families financial support is what drove me to write this comment. I think maybe he is just saying keep your mind open to different opportunities and don’t get stuck in whatever lane you’re in just because you got a degree. You are even expressing that same sentiment just saying that your degree is just a stepping stone to get where you may really want to be in the military.

I am about to be 23 and I've been suspended from college twice for bad grades. By the time I finish my bachelors I will have been in college for 8 years. I could have gotten an MD by then. Moral of the story. Don't go to college until you're organized and have a plan. Otherwise you will waste a lot of time and money. PLUS! School will always be there, your youth won't. If you have a dream go after it with everything you have. If your friends and family truly care about you they'll be happy if it makes you happy. And if in the end you decide to go back to school you will do it with a lot less stress because you won't have conflicting desires and you'll have more time, money, and life experience.

I am a college professor. I agree with point 4 wholeheartedly. Not every path requires college and other routes have value. Some of my best students are ones who didn't go to college right away; they went military or worked for a while then came to college when it made sense for their career goal advancement. Young, motivated students are wonderful but they are a small portion of the students I see. The confused 18 y/o (most college students) can find their calling in college, but many flounder and rack up debt. Don't go until you have a plan. And absolutely don't go to grad school if there is anything else that will make you happy.

Living my life on my own terms got me single for 13 consecutive years... it's fine if you never want to have a family, but if you do, you better start complying to those pesky norms and listen to those "haters", especially if they keep saying the same thing independently of each other.

@@achille295 It was sarcasm. Obviously having a tattoo sleeve and a beard are nothing too extreme, but the amount of insignificant crap that can get you rejected by a woman is absolutely staggering. Trimming your nose hair for example is relatively hassle-free, but 21 year old me drew the line at having my monobrow or knuckles waxed. 21 year old me also said I'm not willing to put on a fake persona inside or outside just to become likeable for something that isn't me. 34 year old me is doing all that shit and more.
