I went to an Open day there once back in 1992. I have more film from this area, back in 92 i stayed with a friend in Hartlepool and we travelled around by car to various locations, one of which was footbridge near the depot where you could see locos & trains moving around Tees yard and the TMD. I will have to get around to up-loading it.
I was amazed when i saw it coming along from the Northallerton direction. It was the last one running by then and used on railtours. maybe it was off to Thornaby so drivers there could have a refresher for a future tour?
Can really see the difference at Darlington between then (without overhead wires) too what it is now, bet the two HST's going to Newcastle and the DMU to Bishop Auckland I've done that line a million times if not more
As station go I don't like to film that much at Darlington, but Eaglescliff I like more. Thank you for passing on this link. Pleased feel free to comment on any of my video on my channel.
Coach on the end at 1:55 is one of the original 1972 HST prototype MK3 coaches, they have different window frames to the production MK3s
I had ever noticed that before but i had known they existed.
Great to see those 37 5’s from Thornaby, my Dad repaired those locos until the depots closure.

Great video..Rare to see a peak in teesside during the late 80s.

No overheads in sight and Darlington signal box still open too. Great vid.
Happier times with more rateable traction about too.....
Age of the train!
45106 and 128. What a duo on that last waltz!
Seeing the Peak there was unusual, especially as it was just about the last one in traffic by then.
Another great video.
The HSTs look like they still have their rear cabs!
All HST sets ran with a power car at each end. They have never worked booked trains any other way.....
shame they dont have their loud screams anymore
