      Have you ever took those pipe hinges and cut them in half and welded back together around an existing pipe fence to add a gate , and do you think thatll work?

    • @Grunttamer
      @Grunttamer 3 роки тому

      Hey Austin, on this gate is it easier to lay out the cross pieces like you did or would it be easier to do the horizontals without cutting and then saddle the cross brace instead?

    I was taught to use Manila folders for templates. We used them for the different outlets and inlets on the vessels. Besides being somewhat cheap, they also come with a straight fold that can be used for lining up and keeping square or two holed!

    no better way to spend fri nite than floss my teeth while watching Austin Ross. This is by far the project ever. Speaking of Karen, I can tell she comes from a long line of domestic tame cats. My cat was orphaned by a multigenerational wild mother so I tamed him using my horse training skills. But he won't stay around when I am making a bunch of noise in the back yard. He prowles the neighborhood during the night then comes in the house to get something to eat and sleep under the table all afternoon. I really think Karen would like him.

    Nice work Austin that template saves some time . I noticed you were using chain pulls to flip the peace around to weld it and thought if you tacked a peace of scrap pipe on each end of the gate and sat them in the V of the stands you could have a rotisserie to weld it out , just an idea i thought of while watching haha.

    If you weld several tabs on the square tubing you can just put your pipe against it with out having to eye ball it and it will keep the pipe straight. Then just clamp the tubing to the 2 7/8 pipe to keep it from moving.

    I know this has nothing to do with this video but I have been looking for the answer to this question for awhile. Please explain the difference between TIG & Lift TIG welding. I purchased a welder combo that says it is a lift TIG. Nobody can explain it for me. Love your videos and I have learned so much. I’m just a hobby welder but your tips have helped me get to where I am today. Doing odd jobs for friends and anyone else who might need something done that I can take on.

    • @kylechoate5425
      @kylechoate5425 3 роки тому +1

      Lift TIG is the arc starting process, as in you touch the electrode to your base metal and ‘lift’ the electrode slowly away from the base metal to start the arc. Other processes are scratch start and high frequency start if your machine is capable. High frequency start requires a pedal or switch on the tig torch, the other processes don’t necessarily require a pedal or switch. They are common in field Tig welding setups.
