As someone who has never made it past Master Guadian Elite in the few years I've played, I was hoping this update would fix that. You are now looking at a Silver Master Elite. I want to thank Gaben, Valve, 3kliksphilip, my mom, my dog, and God for this prestigious rank. I will do my very best to maintain and uphold the values of a silver rat.

I was gold nova 3 before and I am gold nova 3 again… I guess this is still better then going through the deserts of silver again
perhabs you never upgraded your specs. 144Hz Monitor etc. started as dmg 2013 now i am mg2.. 50/50 on win ratio is accurate, I guess
I believe this was mostly aimed at NA / Oceania and SAF matchmaking where the ranking system was messed up.

For sure, graphs have shown a majority of players were in Silver in those regions. I went from Silver Elite to Gold Nova Master, feels good

This definitely helped in Australia. Australia's silver ranks were STACKED. My Nova friend is now SMFC. My silver friends are now Nova, and on the way up. Matchmaking was completely broken here, and the initial impression is that everyone is far more spread out now.
I was LEM in 2015/2016 but placed in silver 2 when I came back to the game for a bit last year. The games were wild, some games I felt like a god among children and some I got stomped to death so I gave up by the time I got back up to silver elite master. I didn't realise it was an Australia problem.
Yep same thing. The game or my game style hasn't changed at all , but my rank went from Silver elite to sfmc. I remember back in the old days I used to get SFMC too , that's my highest rank, then encountering only cheaters and trolls and my rank falling off, then quitting, then coming back and getting a silver rank... The ranks are literally so wild. I was so confused as to why I had to carry EVERY SINGLE GAME, I had to try my best , and I am always top score, yet I still lose like half the games... and stay in silver... was so confusing to me...

Same here in NA, I was gold 3 and went to LEM. Matchmaking was horrific, still kinda is tbh
i swear 90 percent of aussies were silver before this update. my mate who was silver 1 and barely got 5 kills a game just got DMG... im happy going from s3 to g3 tho
I stopped playing around 2016 and was able to get to DMG during that time, recently picked up the game again during the last major and the skill increase of even silvers and gold nova is insane compared to what it was back then. When I was doing my placement matches again it felt like I was straight up playing MG's and DMG's at high silver/low gold.

You probably were going against people that were once high ranking, but ended up in silver due to rank decay. In 2017 I stopped playing for like a year. I was gnm at that time. When I got my rank back, I was silver 3 even though I didn't feel any worse once I shook the cobwebs off. I then learned about rank decay. It took me 2+ years to get back out of silver. I ended up back to gnm. After the rank shuffle I'm somehow supreme. Im pretty sure im going to derank a bunch as I've only won about 5 out of my 12 games so far after the rank changes.

After carrying my teammates with 40-50 kills to Supreme, now I'm officially Gold Nova Master. Congratulations to me.

Went from silver 4 to Nova 3 which is where I've always sat over the past decade when not intentionally trying to rank up. With that alone, it feels like we're "Back" to "normal".

You gotta look at the rank dist. for NA and OCE to really see why there was a problem. For half of those respective regions were in SIlver. EU is mostly unaffected.
Yea i remember looking at NA recently and something crazy like 40% was silver, the last reset a bunch of years ago helped for quite some time before it broke again so I'm hoping this will help for awhile
@@Hibill70 around 75% of the NA player base was nova master or below as of a leetify survey from the end of 2021 I think. The ranks were totally messed up
any idea why it was so different between EU and NA?
@@Arkainebe a lot of NA players went to Valorant and i guess that screwed up the calculations for ranks
I'm American and played in EU using a VPN, it's crazy how much easier EU is than NA. In EU, silvers play like silvers. In NA, silvers are full of people that don't deserve to be there, so even if i top frag every game, my win streak is based on who my teammates are, and so my win rate would be hovering around 50%.
I at one point won 10 games in a row, lost 3, then deranked. It's rough.
I was stuck at Gold Nova despite being SMFC back in 2020, and this update shot me up 7 ranks from SEM to MGE in just the one game.
This recalibration was much needed. I went from gold nova 1 to LE and I swear the people I play against now are worse than the silvers I played before. It was so scuffed
Not really, if u were stuck nova one before then u most likely sucked to some degree, I haven’t played for 2 years came back and gold nova felt like playing against disabled people it was so easy, ranked up so quickly with 9/10 games being wins

@@CsGo-mm3fx I can't say the same. Gold nova is the place most people fall under when they first get their rank so the sheer amount of smurfs were insane. I knew faceit lvl 10 and global elites who were smurfing and found it hard

The summer of 2019 me and a friend went on a tear through gold nova to mg and eventually we both hit mge and during 2020-2021 i slowly dropped from mge to gn3 and was gn3 when this charge happened. After this rank change i am now supreme. I played my first game as supreme i got stomped but seeing supreme has given me the confidence to get into competitive counterstrike again
the system hasn't calibrated yet. matches at high ranks contain people that obviously don't belong there - most of the games i played yesterday ended either in crushing victory or a crushing defeat with bottom fraggers often staying at 5-20 despite having the same rank.

I played like 6 matches today and there were some players that I really had no Idea how they even got close to smfc/LEM/Global... on the other hand played with some mg players for two matches and got absolutely crushed by dmg's. Somehow the ranking system in Europe was affected, but its still fucked up.
I'm EU West and was DMG before the patch and remained there afterwards, most of my teammates also kept their ranks. This was definitely mostly aimed at NA where the rank balance is fucked to say the least.

Yep absolutely, NA and Oceania had the absolute worst 'bell curve' and this will hopefully bring balance to our servers. I knew something was strange here in Oceania from the moment I started queuing in Asia and stomping on players 5 to 6 ranks higher than myself, where normally players of the same rank in Oceanic servers just shit all over me. Will be interesting to see how this change plays out over the next few weeks/months

Silver Elite to MG1, This is a historic update for NA CS:GO where I believe this update was specifically targeted.

Yeah, definitly needed. NA MM was so seriously fucked up that i deranked over a periode of 2 years (moved to the US) from Eagle to Nova 1 while maintaining Faceit 6/7.
After a half year Break of CSGO i got my rank back at silver elite yesterday. Gonna see how it goes from here
In SAf it feels like the average rank was LEM and in EU it felt like silver to gold nova were all the same having both very good and very bad players

Yeah NA and OCE were fuuuuucked before. Like 60% of the playerbase was in silver and only 5% was eagle+
Being MG1 put you in the top ~15% of the playerbase, however with a proper bell curve MG1 should be roughly average.

I was stuck in silver for 6 years. I know what goes on down there. Yeah there are bad players who just suck but thats honestly the minority of people in silver. The rest are smurfs, throwers, griefers, and people who are genuinely trying to win. Because of how many people were in silver 2, even, the skill difference between people of the same rank was insane

In NA, silver is filled with decent and good players at the lowest ranks. I'm talking 1000 hour players making callouts, occasionally using nade lineups, using good weapons, caring about the economy, and hitting shots in silver 2. Rank decay is probably the cause of that, and it's been this way for years. Hopefully this update finally fixed it
I feel you. As an MG2 from SA, i played in silver 2 with a couple buddies from NA. And damn, there were some really cracked players in that rank.
@@cassidy8307 I used to play this game religiously, like 2~3 hours a day on weekdays and more on weekends, I was mg1/2 ish. Then life got busy and I play like 2 hrs once every few weeks. I'm perpetually stuck in silver and consistently 30 bombing every single game. The games are incredibly boring bc it always ends up being me vs the enemy top frag 1v1 while the rest just kinda feeds. At this point I just don't even bother playing the game anymore unless I'm with a group of friends. I hope this can make the game exciting for me again.
Me and the boys have been trapped in mid-Silver since 2015. Don't get me wrong; we're not great players, but we can all aim (each having 3000+ hours shooter experience) and all make half-decent call-outs. More frustratingly, however, we will sometimes do scrims against our Gold Nova and Master Guardian friends, and we *always* win, which tells me that (at least prior to this update, haven't given the new MM a shot yet) that the lower-half of the ranks were pretty damn shuffled for actual player skill.
EDIT: According to other commenters, OCE was a particularly rubbish region for ranked decay, and we're OCE players, so perhaps that explains our experience.
I have the exact opposite problem, I constantly get stomped by players at my rank but somehow do not derank. Hopefully this change drops me down to MG
That is because there is an overwhelming amount of players stuck in your tier ao there is nowhere to downrank too.
Which is the same issue in reverse forcing too many variable skill players into the same bracket.
I have the same problem, except I'm Silver 1, either the other players are ridiculously far above my skill level (I don't get to do anything, or just get curb stomped) or just opened CSGO for the first time and can't find the buy menu. There's nowhere to derank to and no way to rank up to, so I eventually dropped CS for Pavlov. Which doesn't have matchmaking but the more popular servers tend to have the better players, so you still have some control over the experience.
same, i aways have a mediocre score, negative most of the time, even getting destroyed by lower rank players, only deranking got me to a lower rank

I went from gold 2/3 to LE, won a single game after that and now I'm LEM. I definitely was not in the right rank before the update though as I was consistently on the top of the score board, winning the vast majority of my games and not ranking up at all. It's so refreshing to be on the bottom half of the score board sometimes for a change.
Back in the day I was GN3, when they messed up the ranks I was immediately deranked to S4 and was never able to get out of silver, maybe touch GN1 for a few games but could never stay there. Now I went from SEM to MGE and I feel like this is much better. I'm still going to let the dust settle before I play
Pretty similar scenario. MGE like 5-6 years ago. Then the big reset brought me down to silver. Every few months I'd hit GN1 again, but most of the time I was S4-SEM.
With the most recent rerank I'm back up to GNM. Feels like it's where I should be. Games feel way better.
I think there is some dust that still needs to settle with this, my usual crew's ranks were adjusted as follows:
Faceit Rank: Old Rank -> New Rank
lvl 10: MG -> Supreme
lvl 6: GN3 -> Supreme
lvl 5: GNM -> Supreme
lvl 3: GN2 -> LE
We did end up quitting after game 4 of MM when we had to go up against a hacker though, some things never change...
@N F problem of MM is that it doesn't really make people better and it is not rewarding to keep playing it after reaching a high rank. A lot of globals ar stuck at lvl 5 faceit and can't get a higher level.
@N F the problem is that there isn't a centralized system, so a player's in-game rank wouldn't reflect the skill group they're at. People would grind Faceit for years to get to level 10 2500+ Elo, ESEA rank A+... then go back to their gold nova matchmaking account.
@N F i wouldnt say there are to few ranks. i think that the elo system is not transparent enough to know how near you are to a rank up or a derank. Valorant is doing this transparent elo view, You get a certain amount of elo per game plus or minus some more points based on the performance you showed. If Valve would introduce something similar (and no elo cap like in faceit) this would increase playabilty and is giving the player a more common sense of getting better
@@enzotansingco2199 Faceit isn't really accurate at reflecting too. I've seen people from a small country play a handful of same opponents in their own hub and get level 10 when they can't perform agains level 6s in a public MM

I used to be LE as well, also I used to be a very decent quake player, after my first son was born my VISION and REACTION TIME went to shit... I still can hold myself BUT sniping and railing are a thing from the past for me :(

For instance when I was around 12-14 same as you, I used to be a godlike sniper in tf2, now I'm lucky to hit a bodyshot. It's just that my mentality changed, e.g. I usually don't tryhard anymore and just play for fun, and so I stopped practising so it's not surprising I can barely hit shit anymore

I have to play aggressive nowadays because I lose around 70% of duels when passively holding an angle. My scout has never been more accurate, though.
My friend went from SE to MG1, I got excited as I've always been 1 or 2 ranks below, so I played, I went from SIII to SII, devastated
What's more annoying, I was top fragging every game with an ADR of 150ish each match for the recalibration

Me and my friends really benefited from this update. Previously we were all stuck in silver 3 with seemingly no hope of climbing out despite pretty great win streaks, now all of us got put into gold nova 1 which has been pretty great.
Feels like the matchmaking is usually more balanced now too. Previously we seemed to always be matched against players who did not belong in silver and now we’re usually against players who’s skill level seems to match ours
FINALLY! RECALIBRATION! I've been waiting for this for ages. My region is such a mess that silver encapsulates traditionally silver 1 skilled players up until DMG-tier players within the narrow band of S4-N2. I don't care what rank I get, I just hope that I'm finally placed against people of my skill level again.

The biggest issue I face and I'm sure a lot of other people do in EU around the Nova ranks is that it's full of returning players that have come back over from Valorant (meaning their aim has only improved since they left but kept a similarly lower rank in CSGO so that I find them in my ranks). In 2016, was was around GN2 - GN3 then quit up until a few months ago. When I came back, I was placed into Silver 3. In the last few weeks I went from Silver Elite up to Gn3 where I stayed for a while but have since only been finding lobbies that consist of returning players or smurfs.
I'm sure there really isn't anything that can be done with this in terms of the MM system but it sure does make it a hell hole to try to win and get out of the Nova realm. This update by looks of things has had a mixed opinion so I'm going to go check it out and see what rank I get, no doubt I'll be slammed back into the pits of the Silver swamp lol.

Yep , just shows you how unfair they were. The main problem I believe was in the amount of cheaters before. Global elite was just a pure cheat fest, then cheaters getting global and leaving new cheaters coming and it's an endless cycle... and cheaters pinning down everyone to lower ranks eventually breaking the system. It seems like now there are less cheaters, Valve anticheat got much better than it was before... hopefully the ranks are fixed now.

I don't get the amount of people complaining about this? I've encountered maybe 2 people I would suspect of cheating in about 3 years, same goes for everyone I know that plays the game. And we all have around the median rank
@@edenjeffrey3677 It has much to do with the trust factor, if you and your friends have old accounts and you always had prime you're much less likely to queue with cheaters, if you want to really see what people are talking about create a free account and solo queue.

This ranking update was definitely aimed towards NA and OCE I was at Nova 1 before and now I am LE but the far majority of players in OCE (where I play) were in silver or nova before the update

DMG to Silver Elite Master. They matched me with Silvers and we lost the first game. Putting me with their skill group. Fascinatingly incompetent. 1 win as a determining factor of your rank. Can’t deny it is truly fascinating tho! This isn’t a MM fix, it’s a RNG based rank reset reliant on Valve matching you appropriately. (Which they still don’t). Otherwise this 1 win wouldn’t have been necessary. This is just a rank downgrade or upgrade lol... Not a MM fix.

Ranking in Australia was horrible. After this update, I went from Gold Nova 1 to Master Guardian Elite, and all of my friends I play with made similar jumps. The update might not have effected Europe much, but here in Australia it's night and day.
I'm seeing lots of GN1 going up to MG ranks here in comments, which only confirms of what I was saying with me personally before the recalibration , that the game was unfair and frustrating, and I had to sweat every single game , and always carry my team , and still lose sometimes and stuck in silver. I was SEM and after recalibration ranked up to SFMC. Which is the highest change I've seen on here.
It’s much harder to maintain a long standing account.
On my main account I had from the birth of Steam, I would derank super quickly and struggle to progress.
I had a second account and for boredom I started ranking it up when CSGO went free… and was super quick to reach and surpass even my rank on the other account!
Haven’t played for 3 years now, fatherhood… this seems the perfect excuse to get in again lol
I remember being nova 2 (oce servers) and got a 13 win streak without even ranking up, and then I lost 3 games in a row a deranked to n1, now I came back to play again today (left cs to play valorant currently diamond 3) and went from nova 1 to MGE, the game feels a lot more fun and balanced when I’m not getting stomped by ranks I shouldn’t even be playing against

my highest win streak without ranking up was 15 in a row....soloqued lol and i had a 50 kill game in there!
I left CSGO when Valo was in beta. I was thinking about picking it up again, but its been literally years so idk
@@OneGeekStudios I mean I’m playing cs regularly now instead of valorant, the joy of playing cs came back to me and I’m aiming to hit LEM, I hit dmg just a few days ago, the whole system feels a lot more refined
I was GNM prior to the update, constantly feeling like I was getting dragged down by my teammates not knowing how to trade or smoke sites. I felt that I've been playing consistently better than ever the past 1-2 years yet never could seem to rank up, only derank down from DMG. After the update, it put me in Supreme. I am a little scared to queue MM now lol.

The game already probably put you in a Supreme lobby. I went from SEM to MG2 and my recalibration game was full of MG’s.

I remember the 2015 update. I quickly lost my guardian 2. 5 years later I was nova and gradually demoted to silver everytime I played the game (3-4 times a year). I wonder if I could achieve guardian 2 again, but I don't know if I want to put hundreds of hours into this game again
I was LEM in 2015, had to go into a hospital for nearly 1 month, then the "derank update" and boom: Gold Nova 3 I'm back at AK now, will be interesting where I'll end up now
@@mischa7823 was LEM in 2015 hovered around in SEM/Nova 1-2 for the past 7 years with sporadic playtime and im now DMG after the update.
I was DMG and after the 2015 update I never managed to get out of gold nova again. I quit playing CS:GO completely in 2019 because it became impossible to rank up with all the smurfs and hackers since they made it free to play.
you can do short matches now. two matches in 1 hour. i do a couple during weekends when i am more rested. slowly you then rank up as long as there aren't too many cheaters in games and MM ranks are done well.
I updated the game on steam a week ago on a whim and started it up today also on a whim.
When I saw the update message I was more excited to think Kliksphilip has probably made a video I haven't seen.
I haven't played in a long time. I was one of those "I was Global before the last rank shit" and after the rank shift I hovered around LE/LEM. Then around 2 years ago I switched to other games and stopped playing cs. After this update I was curious to see where I was and got ranked at Nova 3. Honestly given I haven't played in 2 years I am happy enough with it. Taking na extended break has also given me that rush to play cs again, and the fact that I'm in nova ranks, gives me something to work towards. I stopped caring about my rank when I hit Global because I realised I was still shit and a lot of the high rank players were too. coming back now and seeing how well some people play even at nova(having pretty good mechanical skill, actually using strats) made me appreciate what I have accomplished in the past.
one thing i’ve noticed about csgo is that contrary to most games, the mechanical skills like aim don’t change that much as you go higher in ranks. yes there is definitely a higher level of movement and consistency with aim but it’s not drastic. The main thing with higher level players is honestly just using the things the game gives you like utility and using the map to your advantage. Higher level players are just so much smarter
I agree, I was Legendary Eagle Master and players weren't like superhuman in aim skills, but they all played much smarter
True aim gets you where im at MG im 91 overall for aim on leetify and like 40 for utility. 90 is a bit over afaceit level 10s average

I literally got a 4 hours cooldown last match. I didn't even use the chat at all, just made 48 frags, won the match and muted all enemies. My trustfactor is beyond red at this point. Thanks, Valve.
@@miracula7782 I got there about a year ago when I was playing only Office, obviously. Had to quit my favorite map because I couldn't get out of the punishment circle. It has gotten a lot better since them. People are a lot more "normal" on Dust2 and Mirage only.

Did anyone noticed how after warmup when everyone's score is 0. There is some kind of hidden ranking. Its somewhat based on rank but initially the game ranks every player on scoreboard based on some kind of ranking. Also in lobby, when the leader leaves, there is also some kind of ranking based on which next highest ranked player becomes the leader. For me, whenever im in a lobby and the leader leaves, I always become the lobby leader. Even when i joined the lobby last and there are high ranked players in the lobby.

@@riffraffselbow hmm, i think all my friends have younger account then me hence a higher steam id. I think that make sense for csgo lobby. I will test this theory. But not in-game, most of time that's based on rank but i have seen it being based on trust factor as well i.e, red always being on bottom irrespective of rank.
I was Global before the initial changed in 15' then I spent my days in MG afterwards slowly dropping to Nova 2 as my skills got better ironically, finally im back at Global. I find the global games to be easier than the old nova games.
I think what happened with the ranks is you had so many good players in silver and nova cuz of smurf and just an awful skill imbalance at the bottom that it was basically impossible to rank up.
plus. I dont understand how u can win 7 straights and top frag and not rank up? im glad to be back near the top so I can play balanced games again. playing on my smurf, you can actually tell a difference now between the ranks.
my buddy went from SEM to MGE which was kinda crazy. and i went from GN1 to MGE, and the placement game we played i was top with like 26 kills and he was bottom with like 9 kills, so im not even entirely sure how we ended up the same rank when i did vastly better and was already a rank above him. csgo ranks just prove time and time again how meaningless they are.

That is nothing compared to me, I went from SEM to SFMC. Honestly now that is just a big joke. And funny part is i didn't even win my recalibration game, it was like 16 - 11 or something and I rage quitted. then saw my rank in the menu, and my jaw dropped... that is just absolutely ridiculous. Honestly I'm not even sure that I rank myself that highly, yet the game does... Wanting to play vs globals now to see what an apparent tippity top now is... But haven't seen any globals yet, I'm just hoping when I eventually meet them, they won't be cheating like before.

I returned to the game after 6 years and got placed in Gold Nova 2 the other day. I've been ranking up after literally every game. I played 1 match and got gn3, then another the next day and got gn4, then another the next day and got mg1, then mg2, and now mge...
I've been middle of the scoreboard for almost all of them, just kinda getting lucky and winning my games. Clearly something changed because i do not feel like i deserve to be MGE after being inactive for so long and losing most of my skill haha.
I started out with GN2 and went up till MG2 after 2 years of grinding. The maximum I could reach was MGE. Even after winning 10-12 games in a row, I could never reach DMG. After the rank reset, I am now LEM. XD
Mg was full of Esea main and advanced players, even my 5 man of league players couldn’t get out of mg. Hit globe on the update tho
Same with me. But nowadays I only play with my friends who are gold nova and kinda bad at the game, so I am also stuck in there with the occasional uprank to mg1. But I don't play for the rank anymore, it's too much work & stress.

In NA this change was crazy for my friend group, my silver friends are now finally Gold Novas, my peak was MG2 when i grinded CS but took a 2 year break. Came back last week and got to GN2 after re-placing SEM. The rank update hit and I just placed LEM.
From Australia here. Was stuck in SEM/GN1 for the past year. Rank change, and then I won my match and got DMG. It's so amazing to see teammates who buy util and use their mics!
Went from a GN4/MG1 hoverer to GN1 after the first game and then after 2 more went to MG1 again and LE in wingman so I think it does work as intended! I miss really loving this game and i'll probably get back into it and try to climb properly, remember to all of you who were disappointed with a big derank, you might, like I was, be a bit rusty and the game is just going off of what it sees. After a few games i'm sure you'll be straight back up there! GL to you all!

Stuck in silver for the past 6 years and S4-SE for the last 1 and a half. Now I'm GN2 and ranked up the immediate game after to GN3. Life is good.
Was DMG/LE/LEM most of 2015-2018... stopped playing a bit and when I came back I could not get out of Gold Nova due to smurfs and cheaters for almost a year. During this time I had been Gold in FaceIt at level 8 fairly consistently, and was even A+ in ESEA before rank G was introduced.
I played one placement match and top fragged, and now I am Supreme. This is the highest MM rank I've ever had and it came after this new update and placement.
He had 727 wins.

The update was epic for me personally. I was GN4 before the recalibration and I got LEM from my placement. I was SMFC in 2020 and haven't really played MM at all due to cheaters so my rank just slowly decayed. I won two games afterwards and ranked up back to SMFC! Things are now right in the world. I havent played CSGO for over a month until yesterday and today. After 2 loses and 1 win I got MGE (last month I was DMG) which means it changed nothing for me. When you lose your rank due to inactivity, your rank is 1 level lower after a win.
For me this update was a boost. Always hovered around low silvers, during quarantine and we were Grinding a lot we were on the climb but it only took so long for us to get bored and stop around silver 4 and elite . But this change boosted us to GN2-3

I jumped from Nova 2-3 to MG1. I was always able to complete against MGs in the past, so this made sense. However, some of my friends with similar skills jumped from Nova to DMG, MGE and even LE, which is absolutely funny 😂
Went from nova 2 to LEM, pretty happy about this one. Felt softlocked in MM the past year.
The new Rank reset broke everything, I feel like I am playing against pros in gn 3...
went from supreme to dmg these last few weeks, constantly getting smashed my dmg/le players. After the reset now i got deranked to mge. Feels great /s. Still playing on the same level, but going from supreme to mge.
EDIT: Still easily smashing real dmg/le players. Only the "talented" dmg players are the problem. Nobody is cheating in this game right :)
The problem are the players who play mainly high elo faceit and come to mm every once in a while. Of course they will smash the enemys. I deranked from global to le just by not playing mm. Then when some friends want to play mm I have to "smurf". Dont derank players for inactivity so the faceit players stay at global. (english is not my 1st language)
I love when I end up with some randoms that are clearly boosted to DMG-LE and are actually a GN4. Dont know how those matches are 50-50 win chance when I have 1 boosted and 1 afk in my team. We are 5 randoms and they are 5 stack. Clearly stacks should play vs stacks and randoms vs randoms. Otherwise its more like 70-30 for them than a 50-50. Averaging ranks in games should also be forbidden. There should be +/- 1 rank difference in the team.
I have played against 1 global 2 supreme and 2 gold nova 1 when we were 4 MGE and 1 MG2. Of course their top 3 players dropped like 30+ kills and still managed to carry the novas
do you know how much longer queue times would be if they seperated random stacks with pre made stacks? Me neither but the queue times are already long enough, no point in segregating the player base it would probably just kill the game out right.
The game is not 50/50 chance. If you're in silver ranks, but your normal rank is like MG or higher, you will get like 4 aces a game if you have the skill. Of course the game will give you bad team mates from time to time, but that isn't really something that can be changed outside what the game already does. And to be honest if you're good enough you will carry the shit team mates alone with a 60 kill game. (with the reporting system etc)
If you're constantly playing against the same rank players, how do you ever expect to reach the higher levels? Losing is a part of improvement.
Lets be honest, you have 0 clue if they are actually boosted players, for all we know they are just having a bad game. Sounds to me that you just dont like losing.

Boosting is such a weird thing tho. Like if two players of vastly different skill levels play together its impossible to match something equal between it, too low and the better player will just clap everyone, too high and the teammates of the worse player will complain about playing a '4v5'
I love how everyone is talking about moving up 1-5 ranks higher than they were because of the new ranking system but I have actually moved down a rank even though i won the game in which u get your new rank. This ranking system probably looks at your past matches and then it decides what rank you SHOULD be in which is not right for some people. Some might say that your rank now depends on your individual performance aswell but even then i dont understand why i have ranked down. Could someone maybe explain? Id appreciate it, Thanks!
What rank were you, and what rank now are you? Some people move up because of how the rank curves were in their regions, but others others will move down due to the same reason
The ranks are, allegedly, not a fixed number that when it hits a certain number you rank up. They are probably more a range of numbers that need some extra criteria, so it could be anything. For one, which is a known fact, is that the ranking system likes if you play 1 or 2 games every day of the week, opposed to 5 or 6 on 1 day only twice a week

Went from S4 to MG1 with this update, and the 2 matches I've played since have felt lower skill group than I was playing before. It really feels like they just did the reverse update of what they did a few years ago...
I've been stuck in silver 1 for many many years of solo queueing, playing against people who definitely do not play like they are brand new to the game. Although I do not play often anymore, I am curious to see if my rank will have changed at all. Although I suspect it might not just because I never really play. But maybe it will actually be possible to get out of silver 1 now.

It is a major update damn. Played one mm after 7 months .. Was deranked 5 times to gnm before (had trolling, rage quits,etc) . Played a nice game today after the update and was placed in LEM(which was my old rank before like 9 months).
This update has had a huge effect on regions that have a *small player base*
I was put up from Silver elite to DMG.
In the OCE region, reaching MG1 was basically the new Global elite. It’s nice to have this fix.
I was silver 4, and then the update hit (I got a new mouse today) my score was 2-7 and 2 people tried to votekick me because of that and I got gold nova 💀

the old rank reset killed csgo for my friend group. we finally got our last friend into the gold nova's then like a week later we where all set back to silver. we played it casually for a while, but never tried to climb again.
Ranking system always confused me. Once lost like 7/8 games, drew a match and ranked up to Supreme off of it. And that was only about 2 years ago.
Used to be LEM before the original rank reset. Been playing periodically like once or twice a month and been high silver and low nova since. Just reset my rank and now I'm Master Guardian Elite. Couldn't be happier with rank reset.

Rank up system could be like getting 10 wins to upgrade your rank, u win 10 times and rank up, u lose one match u lose 2 wins.

Back in MG1 after fucking around in Silver for months/years. So yeah the game forced me to put effort again.
Stuck at mg2 for the longest time, got put at smfc and am now back to global. Usually carried all my higher ranked friends but soloing kept me from getting wins. Feels a lot better now
I'm in the EU and have been DMG previously but I took about a 3 year break from the game and just recently got back into it and could not get past SEM but thanks to this update I jumped to GNM and now have more hope.

I am faceit lvl 7/8 depending on the day and play mm quite a lot. I lose vast majority of the games in mm but still top fragging in almost every match and i deranked from this update from already low mg 2 to mg 1… yay
Bruh, I'm hardstuck at nova, but before half year quit I actually managed to get master guardian. I came back like a month ago, recalibrated to silver 4, left again, recalibrated after an update 1 L 1 W, both matches I top fargged, and got silver 3. LESSS GO!
back in 2015-16 I peaked at LE, since then I've never grinded out higher than mg2 the few times I really played CSGO for a bit (a handful of times). Yesterday though, my friends and I were just getting back into CSGO for the first time in a while.
When the ranks were reset yesterday, our 5 man were all pushed up from Silver 4-Nova 1 all the way to Nova Master-DMG, and me personally from Nova one to DMG.
Feels good man.
NA was so broken, a random SEM player was either gonna be 100 hours in CS new player or a skilled player who gets 30+ kills every game, but after 100 games they'd still both be stuck in SEM.
I expected a "Valve pls fix" at the very end when you were "annocuning" the GE badge to appear xD
the weird part is, i was at max before the update, DMG, and were deranked to mg1, then the update arrived, i played that one game and won, it went straight to LEM

Supreme before the rank adjustment and Supreme after. Another account just denied to LEM prior to rank shift, now ranked up to Supreme again as well.
My friends and I were Supreme/LEM and for the past two years we would only get matched with silvers-mges. Matchmaking system in NA has been completely broken since at least March of 2020.
I was global elite before the first rank update in 2015/16, then hovered around LE-Supreme, I quit in 2018 and just returned, was placed in nova 4, then this update happened and it returned me to LEM.
I just hope this fixes the NA situation where most players are in Silver 2. It has been getting better but the change is happening so slowly.
When I last played about a year ago, I was supreme, but now I've got my rank back I'm MG2. Conversely, I feel my skill level has dropped off immensely in my time away from the game, so I am very happy about this 😁👍🏼 certainly gives me something to work for
