Omggg the movie The Thing (the original though with Kurt Russell) is so terrifying! One of my favorite older films!!! Love your recommendations! Love your channel. Thank You!
@bookinhand_The Barbarian was wild Rosemary’s baby spooky! Hostel can’t unsee it Misery Fantastic! The Ring is the scariest movie I think I’ve ever seen, because it haunted me way after it was over! The Witch was surprisingly good! Wasn’t expecting it to be. Need to check out The Void. And read Night Shoot. Thanks again!
Love love L O V E D this video!! I love all the movies you mentioned, with the exception of just a couple of movies I haven't watched. 😮 Confession - I'm in my mid forties and have never watched Ailen; so needless to say, you've convinced me to watch. I definitely added several of your recs to my TBR. I'm especially excited about Grey Dog. Peyton - this was a great video, and I hope you continue with this.
Stephen Graham Jones wrote "The Only Good Indians" which I just read and that was great. The original Ring not this one. I've seen all the movies except Any Slasher and When Evil Lurks. I've read Rosemary and Misery also. The Void movie is very good!
Ooh! This is good to know. I put This Is Where We Talk Things Out on my list ages ago and I keep telling myself I will get to it later ...because I could never remember why it caught my eye to begin with. So this is pretty helpful, because I love both Misery the book AND Misery the movie!
Awesome idea for a video!! I haven’t seen a lot of these but LOVE Barbarian. Such a fun (maybe fun is a weird word to use haha?) and wild ride!! Adding night shoot to be tbr :)
YES! Perfect video idea, and big YESSS to Nestlings!! That book was scary and also…oddly healing for me. I found his depictions of PPD and PPA so perfectly done. 6/5 read for me.
I've never seen Rosemary's Baby or Barbarian but have watched all of the other movies. I've actually not read any of the books you mentioned but have added a few to my "want to read" list. Thanks for the recs.
I’ve read 3 of David Sodergren’s short novels: The Haar, Dead Girl Blues and Maggie’s Grave. The Haar was my favourite, but the ending of Dead Girl Blues 😱
Great list! I don't know what disturbs me more - the content of Hostel or the fact that it was one of my former 8th grade students who recommended the movie to me 😱
Peyton I just discovered your channel and I think you're delightfully engaging. I've seen most of the movies and now I have some intriguing new books to add to my TBR. Thank you! 🎉
Great recommendations, a few I have read/seen both in the pair and agree they are great matches. Quite a few I'd not heard of so they're on the tbr now, cheers :)
This is the BEST video I've seen on books to movies suggestions. :) Thank you! And yes, "The Void" is sooooooo good. Already made a list for 2025 library books.
Great video. Thank you! I bought Greydog but I'm moving it up to the top of my TBR. I love the VVitch. Do you have any Midsommar recommendations? Or should I stay tuned for the next video?
actually I've heard Mary by Nat Cassidy is a good recommendation for that, but it's not a 1:1 comparison, def has some elements in it! I'll explore some more for that one!
This Thing Between Us FREAKED ME OUT!!! Nestlings was a fun read, and My Heart is a Chainsaw sits patiently waiting on one of my many TBR stacks, LOL. Dunno if you've read Rosemary's Baby but I really enjoyed Ira Levin's writing--though the movie's a pretty faithful adaptation, I found the book funnier and scarier. LOVED When Evil Lurks--if you haven't seen Terrified (aka Aterrados, 2017) I highly recommend it, it's in the same universe as WEL (at least, I think so) and I thought it scarier than WEL, too.
I really enjoy the book Misery and the film, I agree, it's one of the better adaptations of Stephen King's books. Kathy Bates in the film was great! Thank you for another great video, Peyton. 💕💕
This was great, I subscribed to your channel excellent thoughtful horror recommendations! I picked up 2 on your recommendation and I’ll come back for more. As a woman older than you who’s had to hide my affection for horror I love the way you speak about the genre. Round of applause I can’t wait for more recommendations
I'm currently doing a "read what you own" challenge where I can't buy any new books this month and after seeing this video I'm not sure I can stop from purchasing. 🤣I need to read so many of these that you've recommended! Please let me know if you find any books like Children of the Corn or Flowers in the Attic. And I don't mean that certain theme people think of when they hear Flowers In the Attic, haha, but evil grandmothers, family secrets and that sort of thing; that's what I'm looking for. Also, since you love Rosemary's Baby so much, check out the movie The Calling from 2000. I think you'll really enjoy it if you haven't already seen it!
Thank you for the great video. I have seen Hostel and Hostel 2. Many times. I'll have to give this book a try. Misery. Is a good movie. Kathy Bates is great in it. I will need to read the book. I'm a big Stephen King fan. I sound just like Annie. Rosemary's Baby. Another good movie and book. I just read War of the Worlds. Time to pick another book. 📖😃
@@wormeater888 the haunting of hill house by Shirley Jackson is what it's based on, it's good but the show took it up like 20 levels. Maybe Hell House by Richard Matheson ? I've also had my eye on The Grip of It by Jac Jemec bc I've heard it's very similar!! Let me know if that helps!
Rosemarys babys first book is good and the 2nd one/sequel is ok but the 2nd film was made in the 70s and the author wrote the 2nd book in 1998 and is nothing like the first 2nd film.
Thank you for the recs!! Do you have anything for Last Night in Soho?
