It allows viewers/people to see both sides of the spectrum and for those with lesser education, intelligence, or critical thinking skills to hopefully come upon a logical conclusion when it comes time to vote in November.
Having a live-stream event of Trump's speech with live fact-checking would be fine. But just letting him take up valuable oxygen on a legacy show like Meet the Press is bad form. The format of the show doesn't match the moment. There is already plenty for the reporters to analyze and discuss without giving Trump this kind of airtime.
