Dear lord, that Karn +1 in match 2 was pure savagery.
The moment I saw opponent playing an artifact land, I knew I was in for a good one. So deliciously cruel.
"indestructible"
Not if Karn has anything to say about it
Imagine being allowed to play artefact deck
imagine playing a really bad land, just because it has indestructible, and you get paired against this...
@@markbuckler4793 unfortunately, indestructible doesn't protect against "this creature cannot exist" lol
Now THIS is the kind of deck that makes me understand early scoops
@Rune Lightmage Along with combo decks.
I would gladly get banned for flipping the table or slapping whatever waste of life plays land destruction, multiple counter spells or any bullshit Yu-Gi-Oh combo deck.

@@johnnycaralta you sound like a giant baby
Someone's having a ton of fun with the thumbnail and it looks awesome.
Land destruction is the most guilty-pleasure deck in MTG. It doesn't work most of the time, but when it does, you KNOW your opponent is not having a good time... and it doesn't matter, because you're having a blast!
Thank you for the fantastic content, as always :'D
Who hurt you?
It's an eviller form of control: opponent doesn't even get to cast x)
Match was felt soooooo good. Love seeing Azorius control get absolutely DUNKED on haha
My God, match 2 was entirely brutal 😳
"If there's anything a mtg player hates, it's a destruction - especially Lands' Destruction, the symbol of the church of Annoyance."
I'm surprised there's no Haywire Mite in this deck. It's a little blocker if needed and a nice way to get rid of enemy enchantments as well as artifact destruction
Had it in the side for a little bit, might be worth it over Statue, although there's probably a better card.
@@LegenVD makes sense! I was thinking main deck over Thragtusk or Pyromancer. Though Pyro is good for digging and with the Ancient Grudges you have a lot of payoffs for Liquimetal Coating already.
Thanks for the insight!
@@ericbarr734 I put one in the sideboard over Statue, that never gets picked up. Great with Kiki.
Maindeck, I'm totally loving Outland Liberator, so much that I put two...cut one Rain and one elf. She's awesome in itself, and much more with, again, Kiki. As I want to flip the Liberator, substituted the Strangle with Play with Fire and Voltage Surges
Don't cut Pyromancers, for the love of god, it's your card draw, awesome with... yeah, you guessed it :) : Kiki...same as the Tusk, tho I replaced one with a Warchief cause why not... I always seem to have 2 green mana by late game, and the trample and the Rhinos are nice
Loved seeing this scoop up that annoying tef/narset control deck lol
Never thought of using Kharn that way! Grudge, a fantastic card I've not seen before either!
Keep up the good work! Thanks
This deck is BRUTAL
I feel bad for the second opponent, they were really in the wrong place at the wrong time
:D :D you make my day with that comment :D
Bro, why is this the most fun looking deck to play in competitive scene that I've seen on Arena? I know me being a degenerate has something to do with it, but oh man I wanna craft this instantly
I got my hot pockets warmed up and when I went to sit down, the notification for this video came up. You're the best Luca! Haha love this deck too! Just make sure you stay in ranked with a deck as nasty as this xD
Hope you enjoyed it!
Oh man, land destroyer is my second favorite deck type. This is exquisite!
I'll definitely play with this one!
Keep it up
Day 9 had something INCREDBLE with arcane bombardment right before rotation.,
monster...
Super fun deck to watch. Thank you!
This is so evil. I love it.
This is more evil than Nicol Bolas himself, I love it!!
Best commentary in a magic video I've seen in a bit. Explains whats going on without just stating the obvious or assuming you know what he's thinking. Thumbs up!
Love seeing the Liquimetal Coating action! My first deck I ever brewed for myself was an Izzet Liquimetal deck using Hoard-Smelter Dragon and Manic Vandal + bounce to blow up every permanent on the board. Definitely brutal for a kitchentable group but I'm so stoked to see a more tuned up version in contemporary times!
for more pain: artifact lands and unwinding clock so you can destroy lands in opponents phase too...sculpting steel is useful to make some extra copies of liqiumetal coating
Quite an evil deck for sure. Thanks for the content.
Brutal deck, great and creative deckbuilding as usual!
Hilarious deck, made it immediately
Wtf mate… that’s a mean deck! Loved it!
this looks fun
i always liked land destrucion decks, but never have the wildcards to craft them
Good grief this deck is mean. I'm impressed!
Thanks for the great video :)
Loving the thumbnails!
Ah land destruction, for when you wake up and choose chaos.
How do I like this x100000000000000? Land destruction is my favorite! Also you could add the stone brain card and sac naming a land they own. Then you can get them out of their hand and deck!
This deck is crazy, evil and perfect.
LVD you bad bad man
Oof, what a mean deck, I did not expect this to be as cruel and effective as it was.
This is so evil, I love it
oh my god i love this deck! what a joy to watch!
edit: i really wouldn't mind more of this
I don't want to play against this ever my god. SO brutal deck!
This deck are pure evil, i like it.
@19:33 karns + on skysovern is pretty good also since its when its attacking text isnt tied to being crewed
For sure, although in this case Karn is probably better to combo with Coating to take out their lands when we have a different way of animating Skysovereign.
Love the deck! Not sure if its jus on my end, but the last several minutes had no audio, wanted to let you know incase you missed it. Keep up the great content!
I hear audio on my end, maybe accidental mute?
@@LegenVD I guess it must have been because it's working now, really sorry about that 😬
Don't forget to put a Treasure Vault in sideboard just in case for a land
Could take the Statue slot, although there might be something better.
This is just nasty man
lovely nasty deck lol! noice
Well, looks like you've made my next deck once again.
I've been looking to do something like this for a long time, in fact, I'm almost mad I haven't thought of it first on my own hahaha
Thank you :)
I agree
This deck is beautiful :D
Only deck I will play in Historic.
UA-camr Mono-black gaming did a version last week, that I've rebuilt to my liking 😁.
omg I can't wait to add Defense Grid to every deck
This is the first LD deck I’ve played that is consistently good against Sparky.
Man I've been running 5his one of since scars hah I love liquid metal coating
I’m your opinion, do the new anthology sets improve this list any? Prime time used to be in the original ponza lists. Would love to see you revisit this.
Second match was brutal!
Is Pyromancer essential to this deck? If not - what could it be replaced with? Haven't seen it played much in other decks, 2 Mythic wildcards though..
Not essential by any means.
is there any reason beside the synergy with fable that you run Thragtusk over Gargaroth? I'm really struggling with the deck's inability to draw cards and need way too many mulligans
Gargaroth is great too. The only downside is you could still lose to some burn spells from the Wizard deck before you get a chance to gain any life. Can also be replaced with more Pyromancers if you want cheaper card draw.
Psycho deck well done
I was already giggling with glee during the deck tech love this pure evil
Awesome Thumbnail! Love it 😂
Ahhh Ponza, nasty in Modern, nasty in Historic, but OH so much fun.
Absolutely crippling 🫡
This might be the first time I can't say it provides a lot of value. Land destruction is for meanies.
bwhahaha
(evil laugh)
I wanna build the modern version of this. +4 Ragavan is all I know
How can i put these 4 coating in the main deck Plus 2 in sideboard? MTGA justo dont alow me to do so.
You can only have 4 between main and side.
Lands are the mechanic I like the least about MTG.
So I'm always happy to see a deck made to hate on lands :P
you monster, I love it
This deck is surprisingly effective in bo1
DIS DECK IS EVIL. You were supposed to be the chosen one Legenvd. Lol
Just wondering why strangle over lightning bolt?
Lightning Bolt isn't legal in Historic.
Love this deck, and I must have all the cards... and I that I though I wasn't gonna play Historic anymore, lol
I thought Karn only stopped activated abilities of artifacts. Is tapping an artifact land considered an activated ability?
Karn indeed shuts down artifact lands.
Can I find out how many games have been played and what are the winning statistics? I put together this deck, played 24 games. And I have a result of 50%. How suitable is it for a competitive mode?
According to my limited sample size it's sitting at 69%.
why do people wait to crack fable passage?
What about playing terravore or elder gargaroth instead of thragtusk ?
Gargaroth is an option, although sometimes the immediate lifegain from Thragtusk can make the difference whereas Gargaroth can be a turn late.
Played the deck myself, get matched against Elfos, Selesnya Lifegain, Monored Burn, Jeskai Control etc....lost every game except for Gates, which was actually anticlimactic as I swung for lethal with Fable Chariot and a couple tokens.
Elves is a rough matchup and made me consider running some sweepers main, but haven't seen it much on ladder recently.
is there a way to build this deck in a "budget way"? So no Karn and no fable of the mirror...
Karn is too important I think
seeing how you built this differently than myself is refreshing. ill take the best of both decks and make a deck that is perfectly annoying
thank you Legend
which way did you take it?
@@rabidcabbage7230 same idea just minor differences like fable or strangle.
the 3 mana destroy all artifacts or deal three 2 all would be goodhere no?
It kills our elves too which is why I'm not running it. We rarely turn more than one thing into an artifact and it would also kill our Coating if we choose that mode.
@@LegenVD ahh you are totally right
time to add force of will to historic
Today we choose violence
Satan would look at this deck and be shocked at the evilness.
I call this video "Spankings with no birthday"
Way OP
I don't understand why making lands an artifact IN ADDITION TO THEIR TYPE until the end of turn shuts them down?..
Karn's passive
Weird that when you play this deck, no mono green elves show up... must be in a different Plat ranked region queue or something.
Haven't faced Elves in a while although the format is quite diverse.
Its winrate has been on the downswing recently, so not too surprising.
@@LegenVD Cherished that you replied directly--- usually a Mono Black Magic guy but you are so mellow, so easy to enjoy your content. Thank you for your great vids, as a project manager (for a living) I know the challenges you face in a daily production cycle. Bravo sir!
I'm sad there isn't more land destruction. I miss the days in Modern where you could cascade Bloodbraid Elf into Boom/Bust. Good times, man.
they've said in the past they don't like to use the mechanic much because it can be very oppressive and unfun.
@@robertlaidlaw4592 Oh yeah, and it's totally the right decision as well, it's not fun to play against. I did enjoy playing the archetype, even if it won me very few friends...
No waking the trolls?
A little expensive for Historic I think.
I highly doubt strategies and combos like this were even a thought in WotC head when they released these classic artifacts. The way Liquid Coating reacts with Karn's +1 is just completely busted and so cheap to pull off. There's just no way it was intended but whom ever found it is pretty creative.
I've come against this deck so much I had to google it... sure enough... here it is. I must say I hate land destruction....
Edit to add: That doesn't mean I'm above playing it... I just hate the helplessness of losing to it. ;)
Salty AF!!! Love it!
when LVD goes Evil watch out!
I think I'm gonna put there an Outland Liberator, maybe two... should be nice in itself and awesome with Kiki... cutting an elf or maybe a Rain
Definitely two, she's awesome here.
-1 elf, -1 Rain. The rest of the deck is perfect, imho (tho swapped the Statue in the sideboard for a Haywire Mite, another Liberator of shorts...all awesome with Kiki)
During match 6, wouldn't slamming karn as quickly as possible be a better idea? Even if they could fully combo off, they can't win off aetherflux reservoir if they can't activate it
Either way works, didn't want them playing anvil and casting a bunch of spells for free, but they realistically don't have any outs if they're on the build I featured recently.
That's disgusting. I like it 😊
No 3 mana shatter monkeys?
Don't think that card is on Arena, also probably a little too pricey.
@@LegenVD Nah, on second thought, you got enough options between Karn, Abrade, and Grudge. This deck is special to me because I invented the concept for standard when Liquimetal was new. The finisher was different and I didn't have the Karn/Wishboard tech, but it was VERY amusing and extremely flexible because I could switch on a dime from LD to a Vindicate.
Highlights of the deck included BoP, Liquimetal, Manic Vandals, Viridian Corrupter, Green Sun's Zenith, Leyline of Punishment, and Phyrexian Hydra.
Hydra was my finisher of choice because Leyline made it broken and I'm a combo nut. 5 mana 7/7 infect with no downside? Yes please.
It lead to some screwed up winning board states. Like my opponent having 20+ poison counters, multiple times.
This deck is brutal lol
This deck is evil land destruction is evil
I want my land back! >:(
I would change Karn to not target lands. This is disgusting!
Wait, liquidmetal coating somehow turns off lands?? Wouldn’t they just be artifact lands?
Artifact lands that can't make mana.
This is crueler than mill!
deck idea realization kinda with brain delay
Praising Karn's passive made me think of some silly jank... What if one were to play Karn with Bloodvial Purveyor?
Where are all the greasefang players?
Not that popular in Historic, you might be thinking of Explorer.
Such evil
I love how you don't seem to discrimate against any style of deck/play. I'm kinda sick of hearing people whinge about which interactions are and are not how you're "supposed" to play the game. magic can be a complex game and it's only as fun as you make it, win or lose!
Right? Using tools effectively in any game is good in my book. I enjoy unorthodox methods, they're fun. Even when I lose to those methods I gain a lot of respect and joy just from seeing them.
