Before this year ends, I will upload one more video, where I will reveal my TOP 10 favorite restaurants of 2023. Any guesses which restaurants made my TOP 10?🔥
Not sure but I think, at least 7 of the 10 I mentioned might make the top 10. Core by Clare Smith, Mirazur, Le Cinq, Geranium, Central, Plenitude, Piazza Duomo, Boury, DiverXo, Iris.
I love that Chef Saini prefers to crouch besides the table while talking with the customers, not having them look up just to talk to the chef, small detail but brilliant.
It creates a really different atmosphere, suddenly you are putting yourself bellow the customer ready to initiate a conversation! Breaks with the image of the authoritarian chef, looking from above with arms crossed. Bonus: allows you to rest a bit after long hours in the kitchen 😅
I normally think these restaurants are incredibly expensive for someone with my income, but for a bit more than 170 euros, and a 17 course tasting menu this actually seems reasonable. Plus you get the warm up snacks. Each course is a work of art and if you figure it is about 10 Euros each that is not too bad for a work of art even if they are small.
fine dining has never been about the price to portion ratio, of course there are still unreasonable prices in some places but generally you are going to experience the restaurant as a whole as well as the food. Hours upon hours are spent on preparing ingredients with such intricacy and they're high quality. The severs/serviettes, the chef coming to see you and explaining the tradition behind dishes. The experience is more than worth it
You are absolutely right, but your comment also highlights why fine dining is not available to those who have to worry about the cost of food. For those who can't just go to the store and buy what they want, or for whom going out to eat is a luxury that is not cost effective most of the time. I went out to eat with my family to celebrate multiple birthdays and paid over $200 dollars for six people, maybe you think that is not a lot, but on my budget that was a lot, fine dining is really not an option for many. At the same time, I'm an a photographer who photographs the natural world and sells my images and I also feel that if you look at each of these dishes as a works of art then the price paid in this particular video is actually not very much. @@yournanshobnobs9707
As an Bengali Indian and long time subscriber, I would like to thank you Alexander for exploring our cuisine. Indian cuisine is not quite prominent in fine dining culture but watching you try it and seeing its wonderful representation here fills me with joy. Keep making the wonderful videos you deliver us.👍👍
It seems they will receive their 3rd star soon, considering the incredible presentation and the fact that they rise so fast from 1 Michelin (2022) to 2 (2023).
170 euros for 17 courses seems like an actual incredible deal for a meal this special. The wine pairing bumping the cost up to 400 seems incredibly reasonable as well. As someone who does not drink alcohol much, I really appreciated how each drink was unique and not necessarily alcoholic for each dish. If I am ever in Dubai, I will have to ensure to make a reservation.
I went here back when they had 1 star and they were actually my first foray into Fine Dining and the first Michelin starred restaurant I had ever tried in my life!! They changed my perception of what great tasting food was and it was incredible!! I went back again earlier this year after they received their 2nd star and the difference was amazing!! I've been waiting for a while for you to review this restaurant and it definitely did not disappoint!!
This has got to be one of the most astounding restaurants i’ve seen throughout all your other reviews, the amount of thought and meaning put into the dishes the beautiful dainty glassware, and the visuals for every course from a different part of India is just…gastronomical.
Having spent my 20 first years of life, as an expat, in Singapore where there is very strong Indian cultural and culinary presence, it is such a pleasure to see the unbelievable food that I grew up on being represented with such emotion and finesse. Indian sauces can be as complex as the lauded Mexican mole. Anyone who has walked through the beauty of an Indian market with the stunning flower arrangements etc. will recognize the inspiration for the stunning presentation of these dishes. What an experience and the humility of the chef and his team exude India. Thank you for sharing Alexander. Hats off, as always for the incredible content.
I'm so glad to see this menu! As a french-indian cook, seeing Indian cuisine with such fine technique excites me deeply! Thank you for you vids team alexandertheguest !
The restaurant has really shown the diversity of india. Started from dry desert to humid wet tropic region to straight up to the snowy moutain region. Could have felt an adventure. Would love to try sometime in future
I have subscribed to you when you were having 10k subscribers. Always loved your videos and motivated me to try these restaurants one day. Being an Indian, i am really proud to see an indian restaurant. Also, the amount of enthusiasm and excitement you have for Indian food brings a smile on my face. You would definitely love India.
Wow. This all looked great. Loved the look of the restaurant plus the different presentations. You notice how the owner/Chef bends down to talk to you. Humbleness. The food looked great. Love Indian food.
I've watched most of your videos, and I think this is the first time that you've ever said "I wouldn't change anything". That, in itself, must be the ultimate compliment!
No, there's an Indian chef named Garima Arora who has a restaurent named Gaa in Bangkok, Thailand has also won 2 Michelin stars last year i.e. in year 2023.
I subscribed to you when the channel didn't have many views. I remember showing my mother all your videos (you only had three at the time). I'm so happy that you are showcasing Indian cuisine! Mom had asked me if our food would ever make it on yournc channel. Can't wait to show this to her!
Lucky enough to live fairly close to London (but not in it!), which has a great selection of Indian restaurants with 1 Michelin star. At last count there are 7 and I've tried 3 of them, I like seeing their take on fine dining with a cuisine most Brits have grown up with (or its Bangladeshi equivalent).
It's an amazing experience. All of the Tresind locations are fantastic but this is second to none in the region. The UAE has a definite wine problem but the inventive pairing of juices, spirits and wine is amazing. They even serve and alcoholic deglazed pan sauce.
I've seen abominations in the name of Indian fine dining but the vada with kimchi is something I absolutely love. That is how you do it right and yes, I share your sentiments about the ghee roasted crab.
Nope, unless the judgements were based on the number of Michelin stars a restaurant has achieved. Michelin stars are obtained through continuous dedication and high quality. Naturally, a restaurant which has been in business for longer would have more stars than a newer restaurant, Michelin starred restaurants would always be topping the lists solely due to virtue of being starred which would mean newer ones wouldn't have a chance, but they do as evident from this example. This restaurant was awarded their second Michelin star along with the 11th spot this year, who's to say they wouldn't be awarded a third?
Different organisations judge restaurants independently. They also have different metrics they judge them by. These are also governed by similar yet separate categories. The Michelin Guide is simply the most famous and prestigious one.
I've eaten at many 2 & 3 star establishments However some of the 3 stars are more trying to "maintain" their status than driving to reach a new level of success and a lot of 2 star restaurants are really fighting to be recognized as a 3 star restaurant...so some 2 stars in my opinion are actually better than 3 stars!!!
Kudos to you Alexander, for doing your research on regional Indian cuisine and explaining it all so well. I really appreciate your effort and interest. Thank you!
The best meal I had this year was at a Bengali restaurant that did a tasting menu that was 9 courses. It was incredible, quite possibly the best meal I've ever had.
Mumbai Pani Puris will die of shame seeing their middle east competition doing so well 🤣🤣. Watching the video while enjoying hot idli's with sambhar and chutney. Don't know about the food but thouroughly enjoyed the presentation.
I just ate here and it's the best place I've been to. Much more impressive than some of the other names in Dubai. Only a matter of time before they get their 3rd star.
@@mrgyani well first of all it’s 200 Euro per person as we don’t typically get the drinks add on and yes we are lucky enough to afford it especially since we don’t go out that often.. like everything in life you choose what you want to spend on.

This looks so amazing! I can‘t really imagine what more they would have to do to gain a 3rd star. Like, what are the criteria that differentiate a 2 from a 3 star restaurant?

fine dining is to be seen more like watching a show or movie or opera or music show than a meal.
Its ~400 Euro which is ~1600 Dirham you shaw on the bill
400 Euros for that feels like a steal compared to some of the other restaurants you’ve reviewed. Beautiful food and story.
Most of the price difference with other places is probably in serving exclusive wines.
