      @@FranklyGaming The thing about andreaste and the maker its that NO oter Gods in dragon age are really gods.
      The old gods are just great old dragons, the elven gods are just powerfull old days elven mages from the time before the veil, that killed the titans and probably due to their blood got much more power and self proclaimed thenselves gods. The titans not god either more like powerfull earth elementals wih lirium of some kind. Power creatures but totally mortal.
      Basicaly The golden throne was the home of the real god of the setting.
      The oter thing is why Solas want to break the veil now, after all he created it to banish the oter elven "gods" after THEY KILLED Mytal/Flameth, that STILL ALIVE.
      I just hope in DA:4 they dont come with social just bullshit about slavery or oter stupidity and give us the story thats alredy setup. And maybe the last double blight =).
      Leliana aways gave men not human vibes... i dont think some lirium husk, but definetly some creature created by someone. Artificial human somehow. Maybe mixing lirim and spirits.
      Another thing about dwarves and Syndal... and thats why i think he may be somehow titan esque... Syndal can cast, and the only darkspawn mages COMES FROM DWARVEN darkspaw, clearly something up there.

      1:18:08 Villain Arc?! Solas is not a villain! Anymore than any creature on this planet is a villain for devouring other life forms to sustain their own lives. The Cycle of Life is The Cycle of Violence.
      Solas is only doing what he has to do to set the world right!
      The only reason humans moved to Thedas in the first place was because of Solas God-Tier actions which made Thedas hospitable to them. But does that action make him a hero to them? No it does not. Because Solas didn’t do that for them or because of them.
      However Solas is tearing down the Veil that he created to help his own people and restore nature back to it’s natural balance that he interrupted and corrupted by creating The Veil in the first place!
      Removing The Veil, for the reasons he’s removing The Veil does however make Solas a real hero!
      And here I thought that this Zoomer Generation of ours was all about tearing down walls and building bridges. Even The Boomer Generations President Ronald Regan said, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”
      But you would have Solas maintain the status quo because some humans who conquered the lands of his people. Enslaved his race for centuries and oppress them still until this very day are gonna now suffer and perish when he succeeds?!

      @whyjnot420 I can't believe that I went out of my way to make sure I was spelling Lothering correctly, but messed up Hawke's name. Fixed it, though. To answer your question, when I say little things, I'm referring to details that are arguably insignificant but could easily be double-checked to be sure to get them correct. Alone, these details wouldn't necessarily be enough to discard the whole video, but when combined with larger details such as the games setting, it tells me they haven't played the game and didn't bother to be thorough in their research. I just did a quick google search for the setting of the game, and the first result is the wikipedia article for the game. The quick snippet google shows talks about the game starting in Lothering in Ferelden, but doesn't mention Kirkwall. This leads me to believe that their research ammounted to googling, reading the search snippets, but not going any further. That alone discredits the whole video.

      Actually while all of what you said is true...Maferath has their own Canticle that tells the story of his guilt, redemption and Andraste appearing to him telling him that he never had free will he was destined to betray her by the Maker (so Andraste could be his bride).
      It's one of the forbidden canticles like Shartan's and Hessarian's because it denies the Andrastian Chantry's claim that Men are inherently by their nature more emotional and treacherous...Which is obviously a lie.
      The Modern Chantry condemns Men, Elves and Magic/Mages...The three Canticles they forbid are about Heroic Elves ensuring Andrastiantism victory over Tevinter, A Tevinter Male Mage being the Original Founder of the Faith, Men being enslaved to the will of the Maker and in turn the Maker being a Dark Deity who specifically arranged a brutal death of his beloved (obsession) to claim (steal) her for his own.
      They're covering up and pretending the older accounts aren't real and don't matter because it utterly contradicts their Chant of Light interpretation and the actual morality of Men, Elves, Mages and the Maker with the former being justifiable and latter being sickening.

That's not common knowledge, she knows of the dark ritual and Morigan uses at the end of Origins. She does helps the Inquisitor procure their own dragon or teachers Morigan how to become one. I like the idea that part of why Solas sealed away the evanuris is because they were using blight magic, and it’s what eventually killed Mythal, and that with building up the veil, he sealed away the blight with the fade, the black city being a part of Arltathan, and that with the magisters entering the fade, they just contracted the blight, and then brought it back

    • @Alazander
      @Alazander Рік тому

      My take is Mythal became blighted and the Evanuris were actually justified in killing her because she had become a threat to all. I'm sure the Evanuris are still not benevolent, but then looking at the rulers over the last 1000 years in Tevinter, Orlais, and Ferelden, it seems benevolent is not standard so the Evanuris may not be quite as evil as they seem once we actually learn more about them from primary sources.
      I also do think that putting up the Veil also sealed away the Blight. One way we see this in effect is how after Corypheus tears the Veil in Inquisition, red (blighted) lyrium starts appearing all over the place. My current theory is lyrium interacting directly with the fade produces red lyrium and this is the origin of blight. The key takeaway here would be that the Blight never had anything to do with specifically the Golden City, it was just the act of the Magisters Sidereal creating an opening in the Veil that originated the Blight. One of the few details that seems accepted about that ritual is that it required a majority of ALL the lyrium the Imperium had stockpiled...
      I could go on about this all being evidence of an enraged Titan having been sundered (made tranquil), but alas that would be another essay...

    1:32:35 it's also worth pointing out that the darkspawn taint DEFINITELY predates the second sin in some form. In DA2, we go to the Primeval Thaig, which was shut before the blights for an unknown reason and contains red lyrium, which as we know is blighted lyrium.

    About Leliana, I think she may have been possessed by a spirit (or the spirit simply took her form) when she was nearly killed in the Leliana's Song DLC for Origins. She has a total personality change after that event, and hears a voice in her head. We know from Cole that a spirit can become obsessed with a human. Could the same thing not happen to Liliana? A spirit of compassion helped her survive and continue.
    When Leliana is recruited by the Hero of Ferelden, she eventually has to confront her past and stop living her new life as an innocent chantry sister. A new purpose, one that involves killing and fighting. Could the new purpose corrupt the spirit of compassion within her, like Anders corrupted Justice into Vengeance?
    If Leliana fights against the Hero of Ferelden when they try to poison the Urn of Sacred Ashes, could the same spirit be how she survived? If she was not fully dead the entire time but now was, perhaps the spirit within her took her full corporeal form and memories like the Spirit of Compassion took on Cole's form and memories when the human Cole died in the Spire. This explains how Leliana is able to appear again in Inquisition, as well as her mysterious disappearance at the end of the game. The Spirit could sense its purpose was gone, and moved on to another place.
    Just my two cents on Leliana, its been floating in my head for a while. It makes more sense to me than her being a lyrium monster, at least. Great video! It was better than I expected it to be, coming in with expectations from other low effort iceberg videos.

Solas locked the Evanuris behind Eluvians and either placed the keys in some way into their high priests or made the priests themselves the keys, bound them in slumber in their dragon forms, and buried them deep. They whispered to the ancient humans, taught them blood magic, got them to found the Tevinter Imperium all to raise up 7 high priest magisters of their own who could pierce the veil, enter the Black City/Arlathan, get infected by the red lyrium there, create the Darkspawn, all to bring them to the surface one by one to be killed by the Wardens to free the keys so the Evanuris can return. I don't know about this hypothesis. If the Old Gods truly were the most favored worshippers of the Evanuris, why does each raise darkspawn armies and try to destroy the other civilizations? If their plan was to just die to free their deities, it would be easier and much faster to raise darkspawn first, then seek out all the other sleeping Old Gods, and after all are awake the dragons can kill all the darkspawn, come to surface themselves, and just lay down and let the humans slay them. Instead, the Archdemons fight back, and more fiercely than any other dragon, they don't seem like they're looking to be slain.

    You mentioned something i didn't notice in the Dreadwolf trailers: The fact that the trailer implies the darkening of the Golden City was because of Solas.
    This implies a lot. It implies that the Maker is actually one of Evanuris, that the Golden City is one of the marvels that depended on the Fade [which Solas mentions many of them were destroyed or ruined after he created the Veil] and that the Tevinter Magisters DID NOTHING WRONG THERE. They were actually correct when they say that the city was empty and seemed strange, they got there AFTER Solas created the Veil, sealed the Evanuris away and ruined the Golden City.
    Solas's actions did SOMETHING to the city, something so dark that it created the Taint within the Magisters, transforming them into the first Darkspawn.

The dwarves are not just underground, they are the mindless drones of the Titans and are living among them wherever they went, like bees. Think about the Titans as the hive mind of the dwarven hive. Elvhen didn't just live in the sky, they also lived wherever they want. In an Inquisition codex entry, it is said that earthquakes once shook Elven cities, and they sought to "tame" the land. Thought: The Maker is Solas/Fen'Harel. No, he is not the creator of the whole world and everything, it is just that humans refer to him as such, a title of legend and myth much like The Dreadwolf. Andraste is Mythal, similarly another persona for the her, maybe before Flemeth came into the picture. And the Old Gods are the Evanuris. The Maker/Fen'Harel banished/tricked the Old Gods/Evanuris to slumber Underground/in the Fade. When that happened, the Golden City turned black (as shown in Dreadwolf trailer), accessible only from the material realm only through Blood Magic. When the Magisters, lured by the whispers of the Old Gods/Evanuris, breached the Black City, whatever corrupted the Fade and strengthened the Veil to its extreme there infected the physically present magisters into the first darkspawn. When the breach happened, the Old Gods/Evanuris immediately rushed to the physical realm as spirits, seeking out the most powerful bodies there, ancient high dragons, thus the city was empty when the magisters arrived. When the blood fueling the breach ran out and the magisters came back to the material realm, they continued looking for their gods, following their whispers. As for the Broodmother origin question, I just figured that at least one or more of the Magisters were female, not all of them male.
    Ooooor all of this is a Geth social experiment on primitives they stuck in a virtual reality controlled environment. Everyone needs a hobby, even the Geth.

    My speculation theory below.
    •The chant of light and humans "maker" is remarkably aligned with Solas forming the Veil itself to allow humans to survive.
    It is ironically possible that the humans entire religion is based off the magical events and destruction and subsequent creations that occured when Solas locked the entire fade away making an Elf the humans Maker that they attributed to a God "maker" because they had no other way to explain the events caused by Solas.

With all of that on my mind I can't help but wonder if maybe the Forgotten Ones made the Blight, Andruil found it which brought it to the attention of the Evanuris and Solas, then Solas uses the Blight (i just can't imagine him creating such a thing unless he really is a lot more vile than he's shown which would be fascinating but i hope not) against the Evanuris after Mythal's death.

We know Felmmeth taught Morrigan the original ritual that transferred the soul of Urthemiel back in DAO, I believe Morrigan’s original justification for going along with this ritual was “preserving something old and ancient worth preserving”. It seems odd that both Morrigan and Flemmeth would be interested in preserving the soul of an Old God that was only an Old God of Ancient Tevinter. Sure, Morrigan may not have known, but Flemmeth obviously did.

    @ 48:30 - The Voshi are possibly struggling to deal with the large monsters of the deep sea created by Ghilan'nain the mother of halla but... also monsters. There are some codexs mentioning she made quite a number of deep sea and land monsters but at one point was advised to destroy most of her creations. For some reason the Dead Wolf convinced her to not destroy the ones of the sea. Why? Possibly so they could continue to protect the elven lands from invasion from other civilizations on other contents. We actually can see them in one of the Dread Wolf trailers, huge monsters rising out of the sea between metallic warden boots.
    You're talk of Fen'Harel in Tier 4 only convinces me more that Solas is indeed the Chantry's idea of the Maker.

    I came to Dragon Age originally for just a fun twist on standard fantasy and wound up with a setting as grim as Warhammer yet twice as fun. For me the moment that really defined Dragon Age was finding the broodmother in Origins, having that buildup, finding the dwarf, discovering the horrors of the darkspawn, and that incredible initial "WHAT THE HELL?!" reaction followed immediately by just purging the entire area with fire and blades. There's just something about the setting I've never seen replicated elsewhere in the way it can swing from genuine touching moments to ASTONISHING horror to a great boss fight.

    Good video overall, however, I have to voice some opinions on the "a magister is leading the wardens" theory. Im unsure if I can buy this one. Dont get me wrong, the idea sounds cool, but there are some REALLY weird flaws in the logic for it.
    1. we know the wardens were formed during the first blight. What the video forgets to mention is, THIS BLIGHT WAS ALMOST 200 YEARS LONG. This wasent a "oh, thats not good, lets make a marry band of men" and over within in 5 years. Why, if for any reason, would an ancient entity vying for power with the knowledge to make this group of super soldiers let the conflict drag that far out.
    2. In the fade, during the quest pertaining to the dreamers, we (kinda sorta) interact with what can be assumed to be a founding member of the order, or at least someone who was there during the beginning stages, given their entrees talk about finding the way to BECOME wardens. Aka, the blood rituals. And the way its written, it seems this was a long ongoing search. Again, if this has been planned and orcastraited from the start, would we be interacting with a long dead soul seemingly in agony over the decades it took to find a way to even begin a counter attack.
    3. I hate to sound mean, but are we really saying that an ancient magister, powered by blight (at least if the other 2 are similar to them) has somehow been able to perfectly stay hiding as the top commander of the one group in the entire world of thedas that is most suited to catch on to his shenanigans, given they can SENSE DARKSPAWN AT ALL TIMES. No, im sorry, but if this was true, it would basically be saying that from the very beginning the entire order of graywardens has been a complete and utter band of the worlds largest messups unable to even do the one job they have. I cannot buy it.
    4. This would also throw a vast majority of what we know/assume about Flemith/Mythal out of wack. She actively helps the wardens in origins. If we are going to assume that Flemith is probably not on the best of terms with the ancient tivinter magisters, given she has the soul of an elven god and ya know, elves and vints, it would make NO sense for her to just willynilly assist the wardens in killing what, in this theory, is a form of magical lock put in this world made by HER BEST FRIEND. We could point at the old god baby, but given its a completely optional aspect of the game, I feel like it would be pretty bad if an elven god just said "eh, whatever happens happens" to one of the only ways of sealing away whatever it is that the oldgods are acting as a lock for. It would, much like the wardens, make her character look vastly incompetent and only serve to make this mysterious all knowing old soul look like a bumbling buffoon.
    The idea of it being some mastermind complex sounds cool till put to scrutiny. It would completely kill any and all credibility for one of the series biggest and most influential in world groups. Not to mention, it would retroactively make all of origins be "lmao guess you really were the bad guy, good job screwup". I cannot hope this is a real plot point in any way.

    29:10 Wait wait wait... Flemmeth is the amalgam of Dragon and Elf blood? I thought the whole dragon thing was a type of magic shapeshifting. Does anyone have a source?

    • @adamjenkins7653
      @adamjenkins7653 Рік тому +1

      Flemmeth was shape-shifting into a dragon. Flemmeth herself is human; potentially of Andraste's bloodline given that it is a female only line and at no point is it even hinted that Flemeth ever bore a son. The original Flemmeth was married to Lord Connobar of highever, prior to becoming the body hopping Mythal-Flemeth soul entity.

    • @HelenHunt69
      @HelenHunt69 20 днів тому

      I don't need to know Flemmeth's backstory, I know it well which is why I am questioning where dragon blood got mixed into her line, she is an abomination not half dragon.

  • @user-ue4cp3yh2x
    @user-ue4cp3yh2x Рік тому +3

    This in generally vaguely accurate and about mysteries discussed a lot in the fandom, but there's a few things that sound very odd like the "mixing elven and dragon blood can create elven gods like Flemeth" which sounds like the Evanuris were just elves that one day injected themselves with dragon blood and then reached godhood and it could even turn out to be true, but I don't really get where this is taken from. Maybe it's just the way some sentences in the video are said and actually you meant something else, but there are many "little" details that seem mixed up scattered in the video, like saying that Dragon Age II is set primary in Ferelden.

    Love Dragon Age lore! It's has so much opportunity theory crafting so I appreciated the video (there were a few minor errors but I knew what you meant).
    I wasn't going to comment but the Mystery Book you mentioned in Part 4 caught my ear because I've been watching a let's play recently and a relevant codex entry came up.
    If you're chasing three missing gods there is a codex called "Fen'Harel: The Dread Wolf" in DAO that has a passage that reads:
    "...The legends say that before the fall of Arlathan, the gods we know and revere fought an endless war with others of their kind. There is not a hahren among us who remembers these others: Only in dreams do we hear whispered the names of Geldauran and Daern'thal and Anaris, for they are the Forgotten Ones, the gods of terror and malice, spite and pestilence. In ancient times, only Fen'Harel could walk without fear among both our gods and the Forgotten Ones, for although he is kin to the gods of the People, the Forgotten Ones knew of his cunning ways, and saw him as one of their own..."
    Three gods - Geldauran, Daern'thal and Anaris - and rather than being sealed away beyond the Veil it goes on to say they were trapped by Fen'Harel in the abyss (Void). Maker knows what they've been up to all this time.
    Alternatively, the book may not be Tevinter in origins. Given the translation from Latin was imperfect I went looking and found that Old English also provides a fairly good fit.
    "Elvehan Diis Falsis" remains the same however "Triew Metod Dracas" comes up slightly different. Triewe means faithful or true. Metod is maker, creator, or God. Draca(s) is dragon. So a potenial reading could be Elven False Gods: True Dragon Gods.
    The book might be confirmation that the Elven gods (or possibly the Forgotten Ones) and Old Dragon Gods are one and the same. Interesting either way.
    Oh and with your diagram at 58:50 where you're discussing the void remember you don't necessarily need to separate blood and lyrium. Lyrium is Titan's blood - that's why it can be corrupted by the blight (hence red lyrium). Weirdly it's kind of a personal choice on where you draw the line on the definition of blood. The fun bit being it could technically mean the majority of mages are blood mages, and there are probably some dodgy implications for all those lyrium addicted templars too.
    We've got all sorts of blood-based shenanigans going on around here.
    It also might mean the Voshai from across the Volca Sea who were obsessed with trading Lyrium either; never had Titans, killed them all off or they've all become corrupted by the blight (hence why the blue stuff is so sort after) and which could also explain the "massive cataclysm" in their homeland.

    Since you mentioned sentient foxes, it is said that Dirthamen gave a secret to each creature but only the bears kept it and were favored by him; foxes traded their secret for wings. Makes me think of bats, and maybe bat-winged people? That would be fun in the deep cavern biosphere.

  • @demonking-zm3rs
    @demonking-zm3rs Рік тому +9

    Reason why people dislike the Elves being the be all to everything is it takes away from the world it's lore and all the other inhabitants.
    There's a huge fixation on the elves by the community and it's basically " A wizard did it"
    The Qunari and Dwavres have a deep history imagine if everything that was important and vital that makes these races unique was setup or effected by once again the Elves
    Why the Blight? The Elves. Where did the Qunari come from? The Elves. You could basically keep doing this and it doesn't add anything it makes the only relevant race in Dragon Age the Elves
    I don't know why fans find the Elves being so encompassing fun. Scenario the Elves cut off the Dwarves connection to the Fade by killing a Titan
    The Dwarves being the Borg is already an issue and Solas calling Varric "Child of the Stone" already takes a gross turn with that context
    Dragon age was about complex political conflicts characters and differing people coming together in strife to combat a threat
    But now its just the lore what did the Elves do how did they use the bathroom did Solas wipe up or down whats to Elves favorite Color
    I'm being hyperbolic but honestly not by much which is the problem
