There's a fella in town that's been driving one of these car's on a daily he owned it for many year's. He drove it across the country until he ended in our town he said and has been driving it ever sience. I asked him one time it he wanted to triad for my 1979 Chevy Truck. He was like nope that's when he told me the story how long he own his 1956 Mercury.
I ratted a 4 door 1955 mercury monterey and made it into a 2 door ranchero. I still have the original engine. I was able to turn it over last year. If you are interested in the complete engine or any parts off of it I can package them up for you. Just pay the shipping from sunburst MT 59482. I hate to see the engine go to the recyclers.

Propane fuel conversion kit.. carb adapter sits on top, fed propane vapor through the flex hose to the vaporizer on the inner fenderwell.

302 engine? If so, must barely be able to move that heavy car.
it looks like a FE series engine 352/360/390/427.
But for sure a 302 engine runs very good in that car.
