Depends on totality of the circumstances. Officers tell you to not reach for anything and to see your hands, then don't reach for it like a dumbass. Thats enough for officers to believe you might be reaching for a weapon instead of a wallet, and many officers are not gonna take the chance to find out what he/she is pulling out. Dont be a dumbass and argue with an officer and just follow simple orders. Take it to court.
Yes, the senator engaged in public corruption by calling the chief and discussing his ticket in the first place. The daughter felt bad because the cop was her childhood friend probably and told daddy to get him his job back.
He was on speaker phone when the officer told his daughter they were on the lookout for her because they know she have dark tint. The senator did what and man would do by having a sit down with the chief and see why they're targeting his family.
If you are an elected official you have ZERO right to call anyone for ANY favors nor anything else! The corruption in this country between law enforcement and elected officials has NEVER gone away.

A thousand times. How many times do body cam "malfunctions" happen at the exact same time as an excessive force complaint? Also notice that in this case, the Police Union left this officer twisting slowly in the wind. Because that's how public employee unions work.
So the senator’s old friend the chief invited him on over to the station where they together viewed the video footage of his daughter’s case in the chief’s private office. So what would happen if a father, an ordinary citizen called up or went over to view his daughter’s video? “We can’t show you that sir.”
I don't know if anyone has the right to get a copy of the video from someone else's case even if it's her father as she is an adult. If they did, it would go through "official channels" and take time. Here none of that happened anyway. No one made a written or even verbal request. The senator just called his pal the chief and went over and viewed the video in the chief's office and had a great friendly chat. So any citizen can do this? Try doing it. Try even calling the chief. I'm sure he'll invite you right over to his private office and watch the video with you right away.
Anyone else then the footage would be part of an investigation, and thus, cannot be viewed at this time while we edit and doctor the footage to put us in a better light
The whole point was the officers felt the focus on window tint was a metric goal (as in, trying to drum up ticket numbers) and this particular officer was trying to use the Senator's daughter to ease up the policy. It wasn't about getting her off, it was about getting her dad to call the Chief, and get him to stop hounding them for window tint tickets. You don't sign up to be a cop so that you can milk your community for money with bullshit tickets.
Kyle Rae BOOM, first comment I read that got it, the people in this comment section are playing mental gymnastics trying to stay within their echo chamber using all different reasoning to be for or against the action of the chief or the senator, how about the cop that didn't want to spend his career ticketing non-criminals for a victimless crime lol, you're awesome and I love the way you think 😁👍
MY problem is he is trying to obscure his microphone/block his body cam footage. That is grounds for termination. What other instances has this officer done that? I wonder if there are criminal cases, he applied this tactic to get someone convicted.
The title is confusing, the officer did not get fired for pulling the senator’s daughter over, it is what he did and said (covering his microphone and telling her to tell her dad to make a call to clear her off) is what got him fired.
Corruption can come in many forms and when a state senator gets involved with a city police department enforcing a law and then the officer covers his mic to try and withhold his comment from the official record of the stop is never going to be a good thing. We are all equal under the law, or so they say. But this right here speaks to the power and influence politicians and their families hold in the judicial system. This is what needs to be addressed, among many other things within judicial law enforcement. If her dad was not a sitting senator, she would of faced a hefty fine and court costs and surcharges. But because her father sat in a seat of power, her charge will and probably was dismissed without a single secondary thought.
He wasn't trying to get her to have her father get her out of the ticket as much as he was trying to bring to light a law that he didn't agree with but still upheld by giving her the ticket. At least that how I understood this report
This is disgusting. No one is above the law. It's ridiculous that she believes she's entitled and not susceptible to the same laws as everyone else. It's just gross! I'm tired of seeing this type of behavior from these kinds of people!
The cop did this to himself, back in my time I heard that "you know who i'm" crap too many times, I just ignore the asshat comments, and continue doing what I was doing, and also things that started out simple, ended up like huge mess for the person that just kept spitting bullsht...
Yes. Just like my violent terrorist employee and his family did to me and now they bullied me out of my position becaUe NOONE punishes then but instead rewards it!!!!! Well good luck with that Terrorist family Pentagon and Royalty!!!!!!
The cop said the whole department was targeting her, and she still defended him. I agree this video shows how missed up the system is, but she was the victim. Open your eyes and ears wider than your preconceived assumptions.
He admitted they are being told to ticket tint violators. He also told her she was being targeted, then right after that tries to deny it. Cops are trained to lie, prosecutors suppress evidence in order to get convictions, they are there to fuck anyone that ends up in their path.
One of my friends fathers is a Cop. He said one bad thing about body cams is it makes difficult for police to let people off with a break. For Ex: pre body cam era kid with a small bag of weed gets told to get lost. Post body cam gotta follow through with the arrest. Officers have very little discretion now. However with all of the police brutality I think it’s necessary and if you don’t break the law you don’t have to worry about catching a break.
haha youre crazy, It was a punishable(teachable) moment, Its not like this resulted in any loss of life. Good on the officer for writing the ticket even though he didnt agree. A stern talking to and he'll be ready for a promotion in a month. Hope to talk to you when you grow up, Square Bear ;)
Yeah, I'm sure the sanator called the police chief after 2 of his family members received citations that day so that he could joke around with him about it.
This guy: Covers his microphone, and gives a ticket - looses badge Other police officers: strangles a kid and drops bodycam - gets off with a warning/suspension
Jerry Hill so because her father could get her out the ticket he should right The cop broke the law by saying that her father is above the law that was the problem here
Jerry Hill I'm sure the intent of the police officer here was not to change a law, but I'm sure it was to get senators daughter and he's old school friend out of a ticket, so yes it is a fireable offense. Would he of told you that? Ask yourself that...
This stuff happens all the time. Make a call and it's brushed under the rug. The father made the call to complain and it got the cop fired solely because of the call, not like he explained it , or he never would have made the call. Officers are fired for stupid reasons like this, but never for the horrible stuff the bad cops do.
ChucoTownElPasoTX V What does this have to do with her dad? He got himself into the situation, the senator didn’t fire him. If anything you would think deep down the senator would like the cop for doing that cause it was his daughter. You guys that keep making statements like that are beyond stupid!
When you think of all the truly heinous things that cops have done to innocent people and never even received a slap on the wrist, firing this guy for nothing important is insane. My country has officially lost its damn fool mind. 😞
its quite well known in departments that you DO NOT arrest big shot’s or their family members, even if you’re right it’s usually way way more trouble then its worth even if its for something minor…..well unless you like being demoted, forced out or having your worklife be a living hell
He got fired because he tried to cover his words by whispering. He told the girl to just call her dad and it will all be done. He was basically encouraging that fact that they should use their power over the law. Worth firing as well as other things cops do.
@@animeking6070 They knew each other from high school. If trying to fix a little something for a former classmate is a firing offense, we wouldn't have a cop left on any police force in the country. Let's have perspective here. In the grand scheme of things, cops have killed innocent people and kept their jobs.
Realms - On what are you basing this? The little bit we saw here showed her as polite and accepting of the cop's decision to pull her over for the tint violation. The cop deserved to get fired... Was this malicious intent?... No, but there NEEDS to be ZERO tolerance for ANY cop that interferes with audio/video evidence of an interaction. COPS can't decide when, and when not to record their own actions... How can you argue otherwise? This cop covered his mike for a silly reason, but he did it. He also knew he was breaking policy or he would NOT have thought to cover it. He paid the price and got fired, but the "entitled" girl didn't wish it upon him.
i don't think the cop deserved to be fired... to those who didn't understand, the cop pulled her over and tried to convince her to talk with her dad, try to mute the microphone is wrong? hell yeah. but if you pay attention, the cop in this case is unbeliavable good! he says he don't agree with the chief policy, which is "STOP EVERYONE AND BRING THEIR DAMM MONEY", if a chief is stupid enough to make all his subordinates to go out there and instead of protect, just charge them, how many illegal stops and tickets you guys think this chief makes them do? far from me defending police, but remember, not all cops are corrupt, but the system is. the superiors always cover for them and always teach them to do bad things, even when they don't wanna do, that is why god cops are rare nowdays, the entire system is bad. which makes even the "good" cops bad, because its really rare see they turn over the corrupt ones (like the case of that girl who charge another police guy for drunking and high speed and got harassed, the entire system is shit)
so when i see a cop saying he would rather do his job instead of being out there just ticketing everyone? ofc i agree with him. his job includes issuing tickets? yes, but that is the ONLY FUCKING THING chiefs makes them do, for good officers, that wasn't why they signed for. and remember, he could easily said "yeah guys, i was wrong, i'm learned my lesson blablabla" and get his job back, but instead he said "yeah, i did wrong trying to mute the microphone, but i don't regret the things i talked, i don't agree with the chief policy" but i agree with Common logic about the audio thing... but by the way he tried to do, makes me think he isn't good at that, which relieves me.
Ladod Draran - We get your point, but what you need to take into consideration is that (as you said) the cop covered his microphone. It was more an act of subordination this time (still wrong), and not trying to cover a human rights violation, but WHO gets to decide that? Do we let the COPS decide when it's OK to mute the equipment?... Do we let the police agencies decide when it's ok to mask or with-hold what's happening during citizen interactions, in essence, "policing themselves"?... Do we let a local government official Who's friends with the Police Chief decide whether a cop can be fired or retained after stopping his daughter? The above scenarios are the exact reason why things are like they are today. The only system everybody (except the corrupt) can agree on is digital documentation of police interactions where the officer and dept. do not have the capability to pause, alter or lose the files before trial dates. We all see what this cop did and most of us would be tempted to do the same, but ZERO tolerance is the only way. This was an unfortunate example that hopefully makes the other cops in that town think twice before taking "creative liberties" with equipment bought by us to protect us.
Ladod - Yeah I wish we could depend on each cop's interpretation of what his "Job" is. We've seen that it's not a perfect world and that cops need to be trained and TOLD what their job is as each officer seems to have a different approach to "law enforcement". Realistically, as well as literally speaking we do not hire scholars to be cops. Generally, no college education is required. Signing up for law enforcement is like signing up for the military. There are tiers of Superiors, authority, and bureaucratic bullshit to answer to and uphold whether you think it is right or not. I couldn't do it, but I expect the people we pay to take orders to do just that. We pay others at higher levels a higher wage to make the decisions. Not every soldier is a General. When we lose subordination among the troops, we lose the war. It really is a joke that with all of the blatant infractions we see perpetrated by rogue cops with NO disciplinary action that THIS guy would be made the example... But I have to stick with my opinion.
WINSTON MOSCOW So if a cop pulls you over, but says he’s just gonna give you a warning and not write you a ticket, are you gonna demand a ticket because you think its wrong for cops to give breaks? Not talking about who you know, cops do give breaks to regular people who don’t know anyone in politics or law enforcement.
@@BIGDROC99 I was once in a similar situation. The cop gave me a ticket for moving violation where I hit a parked car, but he told me not to worry about since he wouldnt show up in court and it would thus go away.
yes, he would have... he literally said that he has to give tickets to everyone. He was unbiased toward the kid of someone with power in the state he works in so yeah, he would have.
She still got fined, I feel the officer actually wanted the policy changed he wasn't suggesting they just write forget it. If he was genuinely corrupt he could have just let the daughter off without a fine.
dale osborne I see your stance, but if there really was no level of corruption here then there would not have been this dialogue at all. Just a situation as everyone else would have received. Keep in mind, being biased to any degree, including harboring any level of favoritism, is not what any individual that takes an oath to uphold the law should posses as a trait. Think and say what you may, but the fact that remains....this is complete bullshit. Choose when and to whom to exercise the law. Nice
I dont consider an officer actively trying to issue a person a fine to draw attention to an issue corrupt, back-channel and not by the book sure but the officer was not seeking any personal gain.
John Smith very true. I like how this Senator uses this as a publicity ploy to increase his likeability to the public. So transparent. Typical scumbag politician.

I’m starting to question if anyone in the comments watched the video lmao, the officer didn’t get fired because he pulled over the senator’s daughter it was because he covered up his mic when talking to her and was trying to give her special treatment. If he didn’t cover his mic and treated her like she was just another ordinary person who had their windows too tinted, then he wouldn’t have gotten fired. Sheesh
He didnt give her special treatment tf he asked her can she talk to her dad about getting rid of the tint law. Did we even watch the same video lol cause im sure i heard him say “im gonna give you a citation” then he gave her the ticket.
The only way he could have not been fired would be to give you her a verbal warning about the tint. Why do you think the senator called the chief of police? "fire that cop, make it look legit".
what if I’m reaching for my cock? Or a plastic bottle, can I pee in a bottle in his presence inside my car during the traffic stop? Is that public nudity?
Thats classism. The fact that she is a daughter of a senator does not make her unguilty. That's a big problem in the US! You have to start changing it!
What the fuck are you on about? She still got a ticket, the cop got fired for covering his mic and trying to get her to change policy... Did you even watch the video?
The senator believes that not only is he above the law, but his family is included in that assumption! Boy, how do you need to vote that went out of office ASAP.
BigD Travels negative. His policy offense is that he covered his mic. If he did it for something he thought was wrong, but minor, what if it were something wrong in a major way. He lost public confidence and put the credibility of every officer in his department, and really, locale, on the table. He also suggested a violator use political and personal ties to subvert and supplant department policy. And he did it on audio and video recording. I commend the department for self policing, no pun intended.
God forbid a cop acts like a human. Violate rights, beat people up, shoot people, steal people's money (aka civil forfeiture), that's cool, but being real with someone will get ya canned. I can only assume he wasn't well liked by his superiors.
Gringo Bandito You're a moron. She was treated preferentially ONLY BECAUSE her father is a Senator. They wouldn't treat any of us like that. Let this corrupt cop root for his sick behavior.
@ffec+ I know it's exciting for you to get to call people names safely behind a keyboard but it's not very productive. As for everything else, you're just making broad assumptions which is meaningless.
Gringo Bandito Making assumptions? LOL. Did you alre forget what you moronically tried to say? Let's paraphrase here... "Look at how nice this officer is giving a break and recommending official corruption to the daughter of a standing senator. Poor him!"
@ffec+ I'm not convinced you know what "paraphrase" means. This wasn't about the senators daughter, this was about the tint policy he doesn't agree with. He said they were on his ass about writing window tint tickets but he doesn't agree with the policy so he was telling her how to get out of it. This isn't fucking Watergate.
When someone goes against company policy, even a police officer, they are asking for trouble. Covering the microphone and asking the woman to have her dad get involved probably made the chief pretty mad because his officer was circumventing the normal channels of authority. Dumb move on the officer's part.
He gets fired for messing with his body cam but other officers body cam footage goes completely missing and they get away with a crime that was recorded on the missing footage
Dismiss why? Just because she removed the tint from a car with gov. plates when she doesn't work for the gov doesn't mean she's innocent. When he wrote the ticket, the tint was too dark. Guilty. Her father is also guilty of interfering by calling the chief. Don't care what he says, he was absolutely trying to get his daughter and wife out of the tickets. Hope that state votes him out for the obvious corruption.
White Privilege,Daddy government position privilege. Her tints were illegally dark, she deserved the ticket. Anyone with pitch dark tints have sometimes to illegal or immoral they want to hide. Cops are the only ones who should have pitch dark tints for security and undercover reasons. Those dark tints are also a driving hazard at night. I use to have mild tints and that alone made it difficult to see out windows while driving in nighttime.
Chad, many states have what is commonly called a "Fix It Ticket" (or something like that)... where if you get a ticket for some equipment-related infractions, such as broken headlight, tail-lamp, cracked windshied, tinted windows, etc, etc, etc, you are generally allowed a certain time period to get the denoted equipment repaired prior to the court date and the ticket will be dismissed by the court.
flowergirlDeb of course. I am well aware. If i didn't say this before, then i made the wrong argument. My real question is why is she driving a gov vehicle with gov plates, illegally tinted windows when SHE does not work for the gov. And don't say "well she could" because very few gov workers actually get those vehicles. So her daddy gave her a vehicle, illegally, and then attempted to fix a ticket for her. If his intent was not to fix the ticket, why call the chief? He can't do anything about the tint laws, he would have to call the state house of reps and get THEM to change the law. My issue is more with him than her. But her situation shows the gross double standard that applys to thise in power and those close to them versus the rest of us. Do you think the cop would have told you that one call to a senator could get this fixed? Especially if your dad isn't a senator?

Depends on totality of the circumstances. Officers tell you to not reach for anything and to see your hands, then don't reach for it like a dumbass. Thats enough for officers to believe you might be reaching for a weapon instead of a wallet, and many officers are not gonna take the chance to find out what he/she is pulling out. Dont be a dumbass and argue with an officer and just follow simple orders. Take it to court.

Clickbait

He paid the price and got fired, but the "entitled" girl didn't wish it upon him.
i don't think the cop deserved to be fired...
to those who didn't understand, the cop pulled her over and tried to convince her to talk with her dad, try to mute the microphone is wrong? hell yeah.
but if you pay attention, the cop in this case is unbeliavable good! he says he don't agree with the chief policy, which is "STOP EVERYONE AND BRING THEIR DAMM MONEY", if a chief is stupid enough to make all his subordinates to go out there and instead of protect, just charge them, how many illegal stops and tickets you guys think this chief makes them do?
far from me defending police, but remember, not all cops are corrupt, but the system is. the superiors always cover for them and always teach them to do bad things, even when they don't wanna do, that is why god cops are rare nowdays, the entire system is bad. which makes even the "good" cops bad, because its really rare see they turn over the corrupt ones (like the case of that girl who charge another police guy for drunking and high speed and got harassed, the entire system is shit)
so when i see a cop saying he would rather do his job instead of being out there just ticketing everyone? ofc i agree with him. his job includes issuing tickets? yes, but that is the ONLY FUCKING THING chiefs makes them do, for good officers, that wasn't why they signed for.
and remember, he could easily said "yeah guys, i was wrong, i'm learned my lesson blablabla" and get his job back, but instead he said "yeah, i did wrong trying to mute the microphone, but i don't regret the things i talked, i don't agree with the chief policy"
but i agree with Common logic about the audio thing... but by the way he tried to do, makes me think he isn't good at that, which relieves me.
Ok i felt bad for the officer until he started involving her dad and not treating her like a norma person ... smh

You murder someone on the side of the road you get two weeks off with pay you give a senator's daughter a ticket you get fired. Sick
Soldier For God exactly! Cops murder people and get time off with pay.
You should watch the complete video then comment.
They're not going on vacation during the administrative leave. They're being investigated that entire time.
R u deaf
That is because he did it all wrong. He should have beat her unmercifully and tazed then finally fatally shot her. What the heck was he thinking?
He deserved to lose his job for not following protical and established procedures.
I hear he had a new police gig. Bet he shoots first and adds questions later.
How about the senator just calls his chief "friend" and ask him to hire the cop back?
In America you can get fired over anything! It's truly disgusting how in this country people lack so much empathy!
U think in only in America this happens??
This happens in Canada and all around the world. 😊
@akumarvilla14 More in America and other Western society because people lack empathy. They are merciless, no such thing here as second chance.
Exactly no empathy
Yeah...not worthy of tanking someone's career.
Sheesh
Oh! As long as you record killing an unarmed subject out of fear your job security is secured
That's probably the"official" reason, meaning it's a technicality they can use.
Thank you, James!
That is corruption on the cop's part.
i’m so tired of all these privileged ppl abusing the system shamelessly, even the officer is guilty, it’s so disgusting
what if I’m reaching for my cock? Or a plastic bottle, can I pee in a bottle in his presence inside my car during the traffic stop? Is that public nudity?
@@doctorcuddles872 bruh stfu
Thats classism. The fact that she is a daughter of a senator does not make her unguilty. That's a big problem in the US! You have to start changing it!
What the fuck are you on about? She still got a ticket, the cop got fired for covering his mic and trying to get her to change policy... Did you even watch the video?
@@michaelgamble2848 no…. To change the outcome of the tickets not the policy.
@@michaelgamble2848senator interfered with a traffic ticket. Chief listened to him. Chief should have hung up the phone. Resign chief.😠😡🤣
The senator believes that not only is he above the law, but his family is included in that assumption! Boy, how do you need to vote that went out of office ASAP.
His crime is he exposed the Quotas to target certain crimes during the week.
BigD Travels Basically.
Exactly!
Senator privilege....
Yup
God forbid a cop acts like a human. Violate rights, beat people up, shoot people, steal people's money (aka civil forfeiture), that's cool, but being real with someone will get ya canned. I can only assume he wasn't well liked by his superiors.
Gringo Bandito
You're a moron.
Gringo Bandito
Making assumptions?
Tommy Wiseau you are correct Tommy.
Because they are not filming a senator's daughter. 🤣
It's funny to know there cops that do kill people yet still have there job
Pull over a politician’s family member, get fired. That’s the take away.
sounds like what would happen in India you know
Dismiss why?
Especially if your dad isn't a senator?
castletriglav do you really think the chief would have fired him if daddy senator hadn't called? Really?? If you do, you're the dumbass.
Keepskatin this has nothing to do with skin color. Its all to do with corruption and abuse of power. There are plenty of black officers, politicians and judges getting away with some shady shit to

Wtf. He got fired for this while two cops gunned down a kid with a toy gun got slap in the shoulder and got suspended with pay.. Hahahaha..
chinito03 so the lesson here is shoot first..ask later
Sad bruh... sad, cruel world... the system is very stupid and unjustifiable
The kid modified the gun to look like a real gun. The officers showed up from reports of a kid pointing a weapon at people walking by. They did not know whether it was real or not. When the kid was told to put his hands up he reached for the gun to point at the officers instead. That was completely the kids fault.
Jared Ostler the kid didn't modify anything to make it look real.. the boy was fucking 12.. what would he know.. besides.. the dispatcher was informed "Its probably a fake gun" and relayed the message to the 2 officers.. the kid didn't know any better, he could be thinking people were playing along thinking it's a joke until officers got involved and shot the kid..
Jared Ostler you're stupid as fuck
This Senator should of just let his grown daughter take care of the ticket.. Why is he getting involved? Oh that's right, he has special privileges.
What are you even talking about? She got a ticket and paid it off like any other person. He literally did more to help the cop in this situation than his own daughter you absolute knob. 😂. Are you always this desperate to find something to be outraged over?
Good grief. Give him his job back.

Partially disabling audio....
Must be nice to be rich and be able to bend the rules for yourself 😁👍
Or bending over for someone else lol

@Raphie Be rich so I can become corrupt? No thanks, I don’t need to be rich. I’d be happy earning a middle class income doing a job I love.
Where were rules bent? She got a citation.
Wow, A police officer can shoot someone innocent and only get suspended, but he gets fired for covering his mic smh
Don’t reach when they say don’t reach, especially with the climate “ACAB, pigs in a blanket” they know there are people who want to kill cops. So they are being very careful cause they want to go home to their families at night, if you don’t reach for things they tell you not to reach for. You don’t get shot, I don’t think a cop wants to wait for you to reach for something before shooting. Cause this might happen.

There is two tiers of justice, ours and theirs.
To truly measure a man’s character, give him power.
That's completely wrong. Fire that chief
Chief did the right thing. Why did he cover up the mic ? He was at fault and so was the daughter. The daughter got the ticket . And instead of being a honourable police officer and doing the right thing he was being a sneaky bitch about it. He got what he deserved.
Fire everyone and let's reset our democracy.
@@Markmedina75 Actually we have a constitutional republic, but I totally agree with you. In order to fix the system, everyone needs to be fired and start over with all new people.

Did you watch the video? He gave her a ticket. Their was no favoritism. He was fired for covering his mic and saying the window tint policy is stupid and that her dad should make a call and have them get rid of the policy.
Envious little have-not.
"We're not targeting your family, you just all break the law too often"
Imagine getting fired for doing your job. No integrity anymore
How is he going to get fired for that but those cops who kill get a paid leave ?
Mele Tuivai cause they were black
because they didnt kill a senator or a senators family. you can guarantee if a cop kills an unarmed senators daughter, then he will be fired. its a pretty sick system. if you're related to a cop, a judge, a senator etc.. you're pretty much guaranteed to get off on any traffic violation. if you're caught doing something stupid, you're asked to quietly go home and pretend like it didnt happen. but if you're anyone other than a family memeber of any of those I mentioned.. then you're treated like a criminal from the start.
you're extremely delusional to think that politics doesnt play a roll. Thats literally the one thing you can guarantee. Trust me. my friend's father is a judge, he gets off on every single traffic violation and everytime he gets pulled over, they see his last name and ask if his dad is a judge and he says yes and then they always say "ok, well drive safe"
So what you’re saying is when an officer feels like extortion is crime he’s punished? Sounds about right
Dang, that’s rough. I agree, should have just been a coaching moment and a write-up, but not full termination.
Easy to tell the senator's been a politician a long time.. He's smooth as silk with his lies.
Why did the senator call the chief? Hmmmmm.. Entitlement
