Speaking of mimesis, I was watching clash of the Titans and I had this aha moment. I've been able to see and hear the other side for awhile now and I've learned a lot. I started to suspect God might be Zeus especially because the name Jesus pronounced in Spanish is "Hey Zeus" and if you break down the word further you get "he's sus as in suspect". I know how to identify the principality based off of a name and once you know how it works anybody can identify it. Like the name Cleopura or whatever that name was meant "all famed". Who do you think that would be referring to? The alpha and the Omega wanting to be acknowledged. Zeus was known for turning himself into various animals, fouls and reptiles to manipulate others and I feel his hand is somewhere in the Lord our Savior. I have more theories about the rest of this especially referring to characters that appeared to people and people "knew it was Jesus" but it didn't look anything like him. Stuff like that made me start to think about how the Lord can come like a thief in the night. Even if it wasn't the Lord and it was The deceiver looking to feed himself off a plate of our Lord and Savior he still kept moving the Lord along growing the heart of the Lord in all the people. I believe the Lord suffered everyday and still does. When the Lord was on the cross he said 'I'm a worm" and some other things about himself I didn't think were kind to his heart but in actuality him being a worm has more than one meaning, yes he was bait and before he left he made the men fishermen of men but I think there's more. The alpha and Omega has fed himself and we shall see what happens to him because the Father forsaked his son on the cross and everything happens for reasoning. Humans are Carbon 12, we are made of six neutrons, six protons and six electrons. Gaia's father was not like any of the gods and goddesses, he was made of everything that creates the universe, planets, galaxies, has giants , Stars, black holes, dimensions and everything else that exists in the tangible creation. I believe Zeus's mother switching him with a rock was not only the start of a movement in a different direction but the beginning of a strange bad habit he picked up and used to manipulate others. I even think he became so paranoid he attempted to see if "the rock" was hiding a secret and there's lots of evidence that it probably happened. Nobody can defeat Zeus because he has the ability to turn himself into anything else except for Gaia's dad. He's made of something that can defeat Zeus and the human flesh has been tethered to Zeus and other Creator gods and goddesses. I believe the human race coming to an end for a new beginning is to untie us from Zeus and any other God. The heart of a human is nothing like the heart of gods and goddesses, they truly are wickedness,they truly are a wicked seed from the very start. They've enjoyed blaming humans for their wicked sin but Christ entered and warned the people we wrestle with principality not with flesh . He was saying to the people there is more to what has happened to us than your I can see. Our Lord was put there so we could be forgiven not of our sins, but the sins of the gods who put the human into flesh, we couldn't have been the wicked ones first because we didn't exist first and most humans can't top the disgustingness of gods and goddesses. Going back to what I was saying about memisis, the moment in the movie Zeus turns and says he was going to have his brother turn the people against each other because he was butthurt they pushed his statue off the cliff. He decided if he turned the people against each other and Hades through in all the other extras the people would cry begging for him and his help. It occurred to me at that moment prophecy is repeating that action from the past. In the Islamic text it warns them the Muslims will turn against Muslims, in Christianity we are warned father will turn against son, etc and nation against nation. Why are we all having to turn on each other? We Are All made to believe that Satan is the reason it's all happening but that's just an aversion from the direct truth. Hera owned the Garden of Eden and the serpent was probably Zeus manipulating another woman as he usually does and then writing about it in the story as if she was the wicked one and not naming himself. And if I'm wrong then why did Lilith decide to shout God's real name blaspheming him before she fled the garden ? She literally shouted his real name to piss him off because he didn't want people to call him by his name he was trying to deceive people. If you replace the word "serpent" with Zeus would you still be saying Eve was the wicked one ? No, you'd know it was another one of Zeus's escapades for sex and that he was the guilty party! We really are repeating history and I know for a fact the serpent is a god because he extracted the life from my rib in 2018 and when he descended from the heavens he looked as a young man and then changed into the serpent once he entered my body prior to extracting the life from my rib. With him were two others, one being the angel of Death who put his hand on my wounded rib and aided in the pain. This event fulfilled the Daniel 7 prophecy. The very next day the little horn took my rib and began his fill of flesh. That tells me this serpent is a God and I didn't realize the whole story until just recently when somebody was going over prophecy and talking about how we get our glorified bodies and return to the spirit like they were in the Garden of Eden before they became the sin of flesh. We didn't turn ourselves into flesh and we weren't the creators of sin. The world hasn't changed like this because it's just another bad day, we are about to become an extinct species in the flesh. Now you know why I'm so invested in finding out the whole truth and understanding things.
This is pretty awesome. Thank you for pulling this together. None of the theoretical approaches here are new to me but this pulled it all together and opened it up in a new way. Thank you. Also, yes. There is a wonderful liberation awaiting believers if they want to embrace the writings in their literary framework that need not diminish their faith. After all for quite a few decades there was no Bible, no gospels and no epistles. They probably had an order of service, the Lord's Supper and some christological hymns, but no New Testament. But they were still a Christian Church. A final point is I think it is possible to get to a place where it is not only Christians who value and are interested in the gospels.
This was a sneak diss to the Romans. The Roman military force were referred to as Legion. Gentiles were looked at as swine. So it was foreshadowing of Jesus kicking out the swine(Romans) from Israel.
There are many occasions where biblical scripture shares parallels with mythological figures one that immediately comes to mind is the genesis story of soddom where lot has to leave the town with his wife but she cannot turn around but at the end she does. In greek mythology Orpheus has to go to the underworld to rescue his wife but he cannot turn around to see if she's following until he makes it out of the underworld....vut at the very end, you guessed it he turns around.

The third decan of Aquarius is only symbolized by a pig in the Zodiac of Dendera, this is curious because there is nothing to suggest that symbol is appropriate for the time, except one agricultural usage of pigs to plant , in Egypt, during that precise time of the year. Right, Legio X was squatting in Jerusalem after despoiling towns all around it, including Masada, when Mark made up this story. People in Judea would have enjoyed seeing them portrayed drowning, and Mark knew nobody outside would recognize the reference.
A simpler explanation is right in the text and relates to the parable of the sower that precedes the Gerasene story.. Note the word "choke" in the parable and in the pig account (pnigo in Greek, not sure which translations render it as "choke" on both occasions). Now, how much wealth was lost with the herd rushed into the water as was "choked"? How do the townspeople react to the entire episode and why? Again, what was it that "choked" the seed of the word in the third example? (4.19)
I used to be antagonistic towards this sort of thing. Learning about ancient myth and folklore has given me a different view. The Syrian Adonis was killed by a boar, and his death and resurrection were once celebrated the same as in the case of our Savior. See R. Hey, I just watched the TV series last night called Evil about the pigs from this farm that the people going crazy from. The ladies on the show was telling the Bible story about Jesus and the Legion demons, and now I came to this on UA-cam
It seems more likely Jesus is always a placeholder for something else, including perhaps, the man Yeshua. The story of Legion refers to a Roman Legion, and there is a deep layer of syncretism of Jesus with Julius Ceasar. The cult of Ceasar also existed before Jesus and they deified him as a God.

@kennymetz187 We should be critical and examine all sources of information. We also need to be critical about the foundation of our own emotional state and logic. The host brings up good points and questions that should be asked. Especially when stories appear to be incongruent or miraculous.
I think the other major thing going on between Mark 4 and 5 is that Jesus is giving a parable about the predicted return of the Davidic kingdom. In 4 he talks about the kingdom growing in secret, and that everything about it will be told in parables so that people won't understand. Then we get a tale about driving out a legion of pig demons -- meaning the Romans -- and immediately after are two intertwined stories about restoring women associated with the number 12 -- meaning Daughter Israel and/or the full 12 ancient tribes of Israel. So Mark 5 is about driving out the invaders and then restoring the nation. This aligns with both of Mark's Jesus's failed prophesies in Mark 9 and 13, as well as with what the crowds in Jerusalem chant during the "Triumphal Entry" scene in Mark 11: "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David." Of course the later gospels try to deny that this is what Mark is talking about, with Matthew making it the "kingdom of Heaven," Luke saying the kingdom isn't a physical thing you can point to, and John similarly stripping out obvious references to this prophecy, such as deleting the reference to the "coming kingdom of our father David" from his version of that famous Palm Sunday scene (John 12). So yeah, I don't deny that these might be drawing on other stories, but what's also important is what Mark is trying to say with them. Keep up the great work, Derek.
I recently watched McDonald's interview on Lloyd's channel. I thought it was really intresting. It makes sense that they would use these stories for inspiration and if you lived in those times you would have appreciated or atleast have perceived the references. @twistedblood234, you might want to check your science as well as your Bible translations. Leviticus 11:20 is about insects, not birds. What is wrong with their being "pillars" in heaven? If there are buildings, there are probabily pillars. I would strongly advise against taking song-lyrics & proverbs as literal. They are exactly what they are described as. And while there are plants that don't need sunlight, there are other types of radiation, and of course, light was created on the first day. A better argument there is that the moon is not itself a light, but just a giant rock which reflects the sun's light. Another great question would be, "who created the vast expanse of space?" Maybe some will say it was God, or others will say it was already there when God came along, but either way, that is not mentioned in the Bible.

Now, in order for prayer to work, the the Father said, if you have anything against your brother go make peace, really. And you know as well as anyone, in this day and anger age, it's often unwise to do so, in person, that is. Follow the instructions below. The Keys to the Kingdom When one understands reconciliation to its fullest meaning, one understands forgiveness. Without reconciliation, forgiveness cannot stand. Reconciliation kills, on impact, all negative emotion. All of it, from your first breath, unto your last. The only emotion that reconciliation cannot defend itself against, is that of love. Love is energy, your soul is energy. So, if the adage, you are what you eat, is true, then the only thing feeding your soul is love and your soul will mature properly and become love in of itself, as we have been commanded, to become like our Father. Who, in of himself, is love. Vengeance is mine, said the Lord, because when you give him vengeance, he turns it into correction and saves his other child, if they will let him. Imagine how you are going to feel towards your enemy in heaven. If you can really imagine the truest form of that feeling, congratulations, those feelings have just transcended time and space. In essence, you asked, asked to see, that's prayer, you believed what you saw, you received it, you felt it. Again, congratulations, you just asked, believed and received. The Father creator loved us, reconciled us unto himself and forgave us. The steps matter. Unless reconciliation is first, forgiveness falls flat on it's face and dies. Forsake the parade. Go unto the Father yourself and take the walk of life with your hand in his. And consider this, with our Father, I truly believe it's, come as you are and I will change you as I need you. Start your commitment to him with these words if they suit you. Finish the statements. Here I am. I am willing. What is the truth? And you had better be sincere or it's going to fail. (Anger. Let us deal with this for a moment. If you are angry about something that happened three weeks ago, it's because, you have a muscle in your stomach, you know the one, that is a chemical junkie. This muscle was present when that particular memory was created and stored. And it calls out that chemical signature, and forces you to re-live that moment, so it can feed, you have not been angry in a long time, you been duped. And now that you know, what are you going to do, fake angry? As soon as you begin to feel angry about anything from the past, stop it. Just take a look around you, and know nothing happened to you today, unless it actually did. And if it did, that's the only thing you can be truly angry about.) (Do not invite the back stabber to your table, here. What they did matters, they, given the opportunity, will do it again. You have a date in heaven, see them there. Old people bring old habits.) (Live in reconciliation. Do not leave that state of being.) (Live in believe, of ask, believe and receive. This would have been better stated as, ask believe and be given. Recieving means to be given, therefore, it's not up to you to move beyond, believe. That's the Father's right and it also allows for recognition of his works and compassion. Also, Throw away the timer.) (Regarding Faith. Faith is simply loyalty. Loyalty to the fact that you asked, loyalty to the fact that you believed. Stay loyal, stay faithful. Or one might choose to see Faith from the vantage point of, staying true.) (As for the judgement room that we have all heard of, well, it may surprise you to learn that that room is in your head, and it's running constantly. We all have a piece of the Christ Consciousness in our minds. All of us. This is how silent prayer is heard. And anytime you do anything good or bad, your heart has an intention and emotional reaction. That intention and emotional reaction is what's being judged. And your judgement is handed down second to last breath. Because up until then you can change your mind about your intention to our Father. You can come to understand this better if you read the letters on the internet from nurses who have been presant for the death of those patients they have been charged to take care of. Worst death bed passings, you'll find them. And you will find good one's as well. This is why your sincerity in your commitment to the Father and to honesty with him are so very important.) (Do not end your prayers with, Amen. To you, this has always meant the prayer has ended. And in that, your right. It's over. End your prayers with, So Be It. This way the energy moves into the future. And it's the translation of, Amen, but in words that, as you understand, have a whole different meaning.) (Do not judge lest you be judged with the same measure. Meaning, when we judge we will be put in the same situation, doing the same thing that we were judging others for. Break all judgements through sincere intention. After all, people and situations change. So, let it be to you as this, "They are still alive." No further, for the Father has got this.) (Anxiety/Stagnation is common place with our Father. He gives us time for what he is teaching us to take it's place in our lives and become a living part of who we are before adding more of his wisdom to our mindset. If it were not so with man, what we learned would become buried under the new knowledge and become worthless.)
@mormacfey that's the thing about man constructed religion, it's broken and everyone get's hurt. But what I was talking about here is a spiritual application towards life. This does not include the church as we have come to understand it. Legion = EG Lion. Legion is the Ancient of days, because he has lived the most animal life times of anyone by far. This is why names mean so little to me.
@mormacfey I was given a vision by the Lord of hosts and Jesus that I was a Sabretooth Lion when they came across me on earth. This is when the battle started and they were bragging so I am rather confident they were not lying. Being a Sabretooth lion was likely a little over a million years ago. I also saw my first Spirit before it was killed and my first Spirit identified itself as The Judge. My first Spirit was wearing a golden Crown and had on Royal robes. My first Spirit presented as the King above all other Gods. These are facts as I know them. The Bible was built on this type of testimony.
There are some cool stories and some beautiful stories within the biblical text and in various other spiritual texts. My confusion or concern is as follows. If we're simply talking lore, if we're simply talking stories to convey meaning or to express one's self... what's the difference between The Bible and Superman? Moreover what's to stop a fan of say Homer's Odyssey for instance from coming along and writing a story where Hercules or Posiedon invert the meaning of a Christian legend? Would anyone even care if somebody did that in the ancient world? Why are people praying if they know these things aren't true in any corporeal sense?
If we make our own DNA and we make our own history then why don't we start making new things instead of the garbage that has been before making those wicked prophecies come true why don't we try to change them and make them not come true
Nice video. I'm going to give the idea of "mimesis" some consideration. However, Jesus, the weakling who could not raise an army let alone defeat his foes in battle amounts to nothing in comparison to Hercules/Heracles, whose strength & vigor weren't even his greatest achievements. Also, while the child of a god but not born of a virgin, Hercules became a god through his achievements, and even obtained a constellation. I also wouldn't consider Jesus anything near the greatness of Odysseus, except there are many great similarities in the events of their time aboard boats as spelled out in this video. Jonah's time in the belly of a fish, (where he even claimed to be in hell,) was much more traumatic & torturous than Jesus' short time on a cross. Yet unlike Jesus, Jonah was saved by YHWH. If "mimesis" is another word for "mimicry," then the New Testament can definitely be called that. Also, Jesus can command a legion of demons (while refusing to summon a legion of angels,) because he is very much in league with Lucifer, even calling himself the "Morning Star" in Revelation 22.
The etymology of TRUTH is faith and the etymology of faith is BELIEF. BeLIEf contains the word LIE. As I look at writings of his-story, I am encountered with many LIES when trying to piece things together with the supplied information backwards. No one in this present reality lived in the times recorded of the black book. No one witnessed the events with their own eyes and ears. For that reason, I call it all hearsay and another word for hearsay is gossip. I use the words hearsay and gossip for much of what is considered as news broadcast by the media that is supposed to be supplying information from the neutral position. At the same place where Jesus supposedly expelled a 'legion' of demons into a herd of swine that then rushed into water and drowned, Titus some 40 years later had a military encounter with Messianic Jewish rebels who had been 'infecting' others with their 'spirit of rebellion' . . . only, at that time-and-place there were no pigs present -- because they had all been killed when the herd of demon-possessed swine drowned in the sea, 40 years earlier! The Flavian propagandists who wrote the Gospels (as well as the rest of the NT) not only knew their own Greco-Roman popular literature enough to use vignettes from those Classical sources as 'types' onto which the exploits of Jesus (et al.) could be impressed, but they also could slyly exalt the new Flavian dynasty of emperors by connecting those same stories to the official 'history' of the Jewish War, linking their 'Father-god' & 'Son-of-a-god' emperors (Vespasian & Titus) with the 'Father-god'-and-'Son-of-god' duo of Theos & Jesus. I suspect that Joe Atwill readily acknowledges these Classical-&-Gospel parallels recognized by MacDonald et al., but do they recognize the parallels Atwill has shown linking Jesus with Titus? I think they're ALL correct -- it's not one view versus the other.

It’s literature, so there’s no accessible “real reason” unless you can ask the author. However the intertextuality of the Gospels/Acts and Homer/Virgil et all is, to my mind, undeniable.
Mark 5:1-20 In parable, Paul crosses over the sea to defeat the demons in Gentile lands Acts 16:9-10, Gustav Volkmar, 1857, "Die Religion Jesu": "Even more threatening and terrifying [than the sea] is the entire realm of idols, this legion of evil spirits which have possessed the unfortunate human across in the pagan land, symbolically beyond the sea in the land of the Gadarenes. An entire "legion" of idols or demonic spirits have made the man there wretched, depriving him of sense and reason. In parable, all thanks to Paul and his Gospel saving the Gentile world from their demonic idolatry - Mark's Jesus being a parable for Paul, according to Volkmar, and also Mark 5 vaguely reminiscent of Odysseus and his travels in monstrous lands.
Gustav Volkmar in 1857, "Die Religion Jesu" said Mark's Jesus is a parable for Paul (the sower who went out to sow). So when Mark's Jesus crosses over the sea to the Gentile land of the Gadarenes, this is a parable for Paul crossing over to Macedonia and other Gentile lands (eventually Rome) in Acts 16:9-10 to save the Gentiles from the wrath to come.
There were a few scholars (William Wrede for example) who thought Volkmar was on to something. But most (Schweitzer, Werner) dismissed Volkmar as given to allegoresis, and instead pursued their fruitless quest for the historical Jesus. But everything that Mark's Jesus is not, is what the historical Jesus Barabbas and his church were -- Zealots of the Law (Acts 21:20, Mark 3:18), and Judas Sicarios (Acts 23:12, Mark 3:19). And, surprisingly, Mark really does want you to understand this parable! The scribes, Pharisees (separatists Gal 2:11-13, Mark 7:1-2), and chief priests of the Jerusalem church deny Paul and his tax paying Jesus Christ (Romans 13, Mark 12:13-17, Gal 1:10) and choose instead their own Jesus Barabbas (i.e. insurrection and murder). And that is why the lord of the vineyard destroyed those wicked husbandmen. But the Roman centurion recognizes that Paul's Jesus Christ (or Paul) is the true Son of God - and not this Jesus Barabbas (Aramaic: son of the Father). This is history in the form of parable. But to know the history one must know the parable (Mark 4:13).

They will never consider Jesus Barabbas because that would mean that their whole line of thinking was based on religious, mythological documents that were based on lies!

The first followers of Jesus didn’t think he was any different from the thousands of gods/demigods in the Roman Empire. This explains why they created all these stories that mimic what they knew about other gods.
The worst thing my parents (from their point of view) ever did was teach me I could stop believing in a demigod with magical powers (Santa) and it wouldn’t result in negative consequences. Speaking of mimesis, I was watching clash of the Titans and I had this aha moment. I've been able to see and hear the other side for awhile now and I've learned a lot. I started to suspect God might be Zeus especially because the name Jesus pronounced in Spanish is "Hey Zeus" and if you break down the word further you get "he's sus as in suspect". I know how to identify the principality based off of a name and once you know how it works anybody can identify it. Like the name Cleopura or whatever that name was meant "all famed". Who do you think that would be referring to? The alpha and the Omega wanting to be acknowledged. Zeus was known for turning himself into various animals, fouls and reptiles to manipulate others and I feel his hand is somewhere in the Lord our Savior. I have more theories about the rest of this especially referring to characters that appeared to people and people "knew it was Jesus" but it didn't look anything like him. Stuff like that made me start to think about how the Lord can come like a thief in the night. Even if it wasn't the Lord and it was The deceiver looking to feed himself off a plate of our Lord and Savior he still kept moving the Lord along growing the heart of the Lord in all the people. I believe the Lord suffered everyday and still does. When the Lord was on the cross he said 'I'm a worm" and some other things about himself I didn't think were kind to his heart but in actuality him being a worm has more than one meaning, yes he was bait and before he left he made the men fishermen of men but I think there's more. The alpha and Omega has fed himself and we shall see what happens to him because the Father forsaked his son on the cross and everything happens for reasoning. Humans are Carbon 12, we are made of six neutrons, six protons and six electrons. Gaia's father was not like any of the gods and goddesses, he was made of everything that creates the universe, planets, galaxies, has giants , Stars, black holes, dimensions and everything else that exists in the tangible creation. I believe Zeus's mother switching him with a rock was not only the start of a movement in a different direction but the beginning of a strange bad habit he picked up and used to manipulate others. I even think he became so paranoid he attempted to see if "the rock" was hiding a secret and there's lots of evidence that it probably happened. Nobody can defeat Zeus because he has the ability to turn himself into anything else except for Gaia's dad. He's made of something that can defeat Zeus and the human flesh has been tethered to Zeus and other Creator gods and goddesses. I believe the human race coming to an end for a new beginning is to untie us from Zeus and any other God. The heart of a human is nothing like the heart of gods and goddesses, they truly are wickedness,they truly are a wicked seed from the very start. They've enjoyed blaming humans for their wicked sin but Christ entered and warned the people we wrestle with principality not with flesh . He was saying to the people there is more to what has happened to us than your I can see. Our Lord was put there so we could be forgiven not of our sins, but the sins of the gods who put the human into flesh, we couldn't have been the wicked ones first because we didn't exist first and most humans can't top the disgustingness of gods and goddesses. Going back to what I was saying about memisis, the moment in the movie Zeus turns and says he was going to have his brother turn the people against each other because he was butthurt they pushed his statue off the cliff. He decided if he turned the people against each other and Hades through in all the other extras the people would cry begging for him and his help. It occurred to me at that moment prophecy is repeating that action from the past. In the Islamic text it warns them the Muslims will turn against Muslims, in Christianity we are warned father will turn against son, etc and nation against nation. Why are we all having to turn on each other? We Are All made to believe that Satan is the reason it's all happening but that's just an aversion from the direct truth. Hera owned the Garden of Eden and the serpent was probably Zeus manipulating another woman as he usually does and then writing about it in the story as if she was the wicked one and not naming himself. And if I'm wrong then why did Lilith decide to shout God's real name blaspheming him before she fled the garden ? She literally shouted his real name to piss him off because he didn't want people to call him by his name he was trying to deceive people. If you replace the word "serpent" with Zeus would you still be saying Eve was the wicked one ? No, you'd know it was another one of Zeus's escapades for sex and that he was the guilty party! We really are repeating history and I know for a fact the serpent is a god because he extracted the life from my rib in 2018 and when he descended from the heavens he looked as a young man and then changed into the serpent once he entered my body prior to extracting the life from my rib. With him were two others, one being the angel of Death who put his hand on my wounded rib and aided in the pain. This event fulfilled the Daniel 7 prophecy. The very next day the little horn took my rib and began his fill of flesh. That tells me this serpent is a God and I didn't realize the whole story until just recently when somebody was going over prophecy and talking about how we get our glorified bodies and return to the spirit like they were in the Garden of Eden before they became the sin of flesh. We didn't turn ourselves into flesh and we weren't the creators of sin. The world hasn't changed like this because it's just another bad day, we are about to become an extinct species in the flesh. Now you know why I'm so invested in finding out the whole truth and understanding things.

After all for quite a few decades there was no Bible, no gospels and no epistles. They probably had an order of service, the Lord's Supper and some christological hymns, but no New Testament. But they were still a Christian Church.

This was a sneak diss to the Romans. The Roman military force were referred to as Legion. Gentiles were looked at as swine. So it was foreshadowing of Jesus kicking out the swine(Romans) from Israel.
There are many occasions where biblical scripture shares parallels with mythological figures one that immediately comes to mind is the genesis story of soddom where lot has to leave the town with his wife but she cannot turn around but at the end she does. In greek mythology Orpheus has to go to the underworld to rescue his wife but he cannot turn around to see if she's following until he makes it out of the underworld....vut at the very end, you guessed it he turns around.

Right, Legio X was squatting in Jerusalem after despoiling towns all around it, including Masada, when Mark made up this story. People in Judea would have enjoyed seeing them portrayed drowning, and Mark knew nobody outside would recognize the reference.
A simpler explanation is right in the text and relates to the parable of the sower that precedes the Gerasene story.. Note the word "choke" in the parable and in the pig account (pnigo in Greek, not sure which translations render it as "choke" on both occasions). Now, how much wealth was lost with the herd rushed into the water as was "choked"? How do the townspeople react to the entire episode and why? Again, what was it that "choked" the seed of the word in the third example? (4.19)
I used to be antagonistic towards this sort of thing. Learning about ancient myth and folklore has given me a different view. The hog was an emblem of winter. It is too late in the day to deny this. On some very ancient Greek coins a lion is seen killing a boar, i.e., summer succeeds winter. The Syrian Adonis was killed by a boar, and his death and resurrection were once celebrated the same as in the case of our Savior. See R. Payne Knight's Symbolical Language of Ancient Art and Myth., p. 86, “The Dumb man possessed of a Devil” was the Earth in winter; the blind man, the same.

It seems more likely Jesus is always a placeholder for something else, including perhaps, the man Yeshua. The story of Legion refers to a Roman Legion, and there is a deep layer of syncretism of Jesus with Julius Ceasar. The cult of Ceasar also existed before Jesus and they deified him as a God.

I think the other major thing going on between Mark 4 and 5 is that Jesus is giving a parable about the predicted return of the Davidic kingdom. In 4 he talks about the kingdom growing in secret, and that everything about it will be told in parables so that people won't understand. Then we get a tale about driving out a legion of pig demons -- meaning the Romans -- and immediately after are two intertwined stories about restoring women associated with the number 12 -- meaning Daughter Israel and/or the full 12 ancient tribes of Israel. So Mark 5 is about driving out the invaders and then restoring the nation.
This aligns with both of Mark's Jesus's failed prophesies in Mark 9 and 13, as well as with what the crowds in Jerusalem chant during the "Triumphal Entry" scene in Mark 11: "Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David." Of course the later gospels try to deny that this is what Mark is talking about, with Matthew making it the "kingdom of Heaven," Luke saying the kingdom isn't a physical thing you can point to, and John similarly stripping out obvious references to this prophecy, such as deleting the reference to the "coming kingdom of our father David" from his version of that famous Palm Sunday scene (John 12).
So yeah, I don't deny that these might be drawing on other stories, but what's also important is what Mark is trying to say with them. Keep up the great work, Derek.

@twistedblood234, you might want to check your science as well as your Bible translations. Leviticus 11:20 is about insects, not birds. What is wrong with their being "pillars" in heaven? If there are buildings, there are probabily pillars. I would strongly advise against taking song-lyrics & proverbs as literal. They are exactly what they are described as. And while there are plants that don't need sunlight, there are other types of radiation, and of course, light was created on the first day. A better argument there is that the moon is not itself a light, but just a giant rock which reflects the sun's light. Another great question would be, "who created the vast expanse of space?" Maybe some will say it was God, or others will say it was already there when God came along, but either way, that is not mentioned in the Bible.

The Keys to the Kingdom
When one understands reconciliation to its fullest meaning, one understands forgiveness. Without reconciliation, forgiveness cannot stand. Reconciliation kills, on impact, all negative emotion. All of it, from your first breath, unto your last. The only emotion that reconciliation cannot defend itself against, is that of love. Love is energy, your soul is energy. So, if the adage, you are what you eat, is true, then the only thing feeding your soul is love and your soul will mature properly and become love in of itself, as we have been commanded, to become like our Father. Who, in of himself, is love. Vengeance is mine, said the Lord, because when you give him vengeance, he turns it into correction and saves his other child, if they will let him. Imagine how you are going to feel towards your enemy in heaven. If you can really imagine the truest form of that feeling, congratulations, those feelings have just transcended time and space. In essence, you asked, asked to see, that's prayer, you believed what you saw, you received it, you felt it. Again, congratulations, you just asked, believed and received. The Father creator loved us, reconciled us unto himself and forgave us. The steps matter. Unless reconciliation is first, forgiveness falls flat on it's face and dies. Forsake the parade. Go unto the Father yourself and take the walk of life with your hand in his. And consider this, with our Father, I truly believe it's, come as you are and I will change you as I need you. Start your commitment to him with these words if they suit you. Finish the statements. Here I am. I am willing. What is the truth? And you had better be sincere or it's going to fail.
(Anger. Let us deal with this for a moment. If you are angry about something that happened three weeks ago, it's because, you have a muscle in your stomach, you know the one, that is a chemical junkie. This muscle was present when that particular memory was created and stored. And it calls out that chemical signature, and forces you to re-live that moment, so it can feed, you have not been angry in a long time, you been duped. And now that you know, what are you going to do, fake angry? As soon as you begin to feel angry about anything from the past, stop it. Just take a look around you, and know nothing happened to you today, unless it actually did. And if it did, that's the only thing you can be truly angry about.)

(As for the judgement room that we have all heard of, well, it may surprise you to learn that that room is in your head, and it's running constantly. We all have a piece of the Christ Consciousness in our minds. All of us. This is how silent prayer is heard. And anytime you do anything good or bad, your heart has an intention and emotional reaction. That intention and emotional reaction is what's being judged. And your judgement is handed down second to last breath. Because up until then you can change your mind about your intention to our Father. You can come to understand this better if you read the letters on the internet from nurses who have been presant for the death of those patients they have been charged to take care of. Worst death bed passings, you'll find them. And you will find good one's as well. This is why your sincerity in your commitment to the Father and to honesty with him are so very important.)
(Do not end your prayers with, Amen. To you, this has always meant the prayer has ended. And in that, your right. It's over. End your prayers with, So Be It. This way the energy moves into the future. And it's the translation of, Amen, but in words that, as you understand, have a whole different meaning.)
(Do not judge lest you be judged with the same measure. Meaning, when we judge we will be put in the same situation, doing the same thing that we were judging others for. Break all judgements through sincere intention. After all, people and situations change. So, let it be to you as this, "They are still alive." No further, for the Father has got this.)

There are some cool stories and some beautiful stories within the biblical text and in various other spiritual texts. My confusion or concern is as follows. If we're simply talking lore, if we're simply talking stories to convey meaning or to express one's self... what's the difference between The Bible and Superman? Moreover what's to stop a fan of say Homer's Odyssey for instance from coming along and writing a story where Hercules or Posiedon invert the meaning of a Christian legend? Would anyone even care if somebody did that in the ancient world? Why are people praying if they know these things aren't true in any corporeal sense?

So when Mark's Jesus crosses over the sea to the Gentile land of the Gadarenes, this is a parable for Paul crossing over to Macedonia and other Gentile lands (eventually Rome) in Acts 16:9-10 to save the Gentiles from the wrath to come.

But most (Schweitzer, Werner) dismissed Volkmar as given to allegoresis, and instead pursued their fruitless quest for the historical Jesus. And that is why the lord of the vineyard destroyed those wicked husbandmen. But the Roman centurion recognizes that Paul's Jesus Christ (or Paul) is the true Son of God - and not this Jesus Barabbas (Aramaic: son of the Father). This is history in the form of parable. But to know the history one must know the parable (Mark 4:13).
