- Peanut hates being brushed and will wriggle his way out of his owner's grooming grasp at any costs. As a result his long hair has had to be shaved down to avoid it getting tangled and make the grooming process easier. Can dog training expert Victoria Stilwell negotiate with this 'ninja' dog and find a way to control his impulses when being groomed.

I wonder how many times Victoria has said those exact words. It seems like every time there is a Pomeranian or another small dog on this show, the owners tend to spoil them a lot.
As a tutor of a chihuahua, it's very difficult not to spoil him... He's sooooo small and scared of everything, sometimes I have to remember me that it's for the best, but it's pretty hard not to give up...
My pomeranian is cute, people love him but cute only gets you so far with me. Especially when an animal needs redirection. I think a well trained/behaved dog is the cutest. Not to say I've done a great job training mine but I get annoyed easily so it's hard to focus on cute when you get irritated. Victoria has taught me things that I can implement & I'm grateful
that's not true. Schalke, my pomeranian, is an angel, and so were the other 2 poms I had. Obviously the well behaved ones are never gonna be on the show, kinda obvious.
Well, yeah, this show doesn't really feature well-trained dogs
I think that it also has to do with the temperament of the breed. Almost all Pomeranians act feisty and bossy. It's just how most of them are.
I liked when they trained him not to bark when she put him in the crate
I think it’s different for everyone, but I put my dog in her crate when I leave the house. We can’t do this sort of training because we don’t want her to have negative associations with her crate.

L U M A T I C I agree..imagine hearing a horrible nails on a chalkboard screech every time you try to talk or express yourself...I like training with positive associations rather than negative ones

I don't know how old Peanut was when this was filmed, but the episode is ten years old. Maybe he's old and decrepit now.

This is so strange considering my dog when he was alive literally grabbed his brush DEMANDING to be brushed. I wasn't even allowed to stop.
My dogs love being brushed back leg start shaking and all. Lol

My dog likes being brushed except for his back legs because of his hip dysplasia. I have to be gentler with his hind quarters.

Poms should never be shaved or coat cut back - there coat grows back a mess in patches….that magnificent coat looks moth eaten. There are videos on UA-cam showing what happens & the permanent damage done to a shaved or cut short coat, the damage is permanent.

The Dog groomer was hilarious and I like the way Peanuts coat is cut he is adorable he really is!! 💛💛
You're actually never supposed to get any double coated dog such as a pomeranian cut like that. Their natural coat with undercoat and guard hairs intact allow them to insulate as well as cool off when necessary. There are thermography pictures all over the internet showing how much hotter a dog's body gets when they've been cut like that. A little trim to even everything out is one thing, but these cuts are way too much and good groomers will actually refuse to do it.

Peanut is one of my favorite dogs from the series. He's just kind of a goofy little sassy brat. He's got behavioral problems but nothing scary and he adjusts to the new expectations of him relatively quickly.

I don't think he's just spoiled, but brushing can be painful when the fur is long and dense, and people are just tugging on it. Especially when he is so small.

I had a pomeranian. Metal brushes can hurt dogs, which is why he's reacting to it. My groomer suggested a soft plastic brush instead. I use a soft plastic hand mitt brush and my dogs love it!

This is my favorite episode and it has my two favorite dogs and my favorite owners. I love peanut and stains and the owners are very nice people who mean well but just didn't know the right thing to do!
I feel like the grooming parlour guys should be taught this technique?? Not just the owners. Imagine how many dogs they can help this way!!
