This is the BEST and most romantic version. Persuasion is my favourite of Austen's novels and this adaptation is just so right. Ciaran Hinds is perfect as Captain Wentworth and I have not seen anyone else portray Anne better than Amanda Root. I love love love it.
Mr. Hinds has the most lovely, expressive eyes I have ever seen. I have noticed how he uses his eyes alone to transmit feelings and thoughts, and that is true of every film I have seen him in. Amazing.
I agree - Ciaran Hinds is one of my favorite English Actors ever due to his style to show vulnerability and his soul when playing the role of Captain Wentworth. I just love him!
Flawlessly cast. Susan Fleetwood (who tragically died very shortly after finishing Persuasion) is perfect as Lady Russell. Those last exchange in this clip between her and Captain Wentworth are brilliantly acted. And Amanda Root is amazing as Anne.
I love the opera scene. Love that song. This is a great version. I've probably seen it 100 times. I wish it was an 11 hour trilogy like lotr. I also love the part when he says, "lucky you didn't bump into him." And Anne's eyes get wide. He was watching! But how??
@@arajo5773 Yeah, but he was leaving because that guy was flirting with her so much the whole time and he likes her so he couldn’t stay there seeing the one he likes hitting it off with another guy.
I love the Sally Hawkins version, but this one is also just wonderful. I wonder if another version will be made, because my heart can only take so much! ❤❤❤
I didn't believe Sally Hawkins or Rupert Penry Jones in the roles - they just did not fit for me. They are both wonderful actors but just not right. Hinds and Root were perfect casting.
@@aquablushgirl totally agree with you. Tose actores don't fit the role. Ciaran abd Amanda are tge Best! Try to watch ( in UA-cam) the version of 1970. It's to the book ,perfect. But it was produced with poor budget and the main actors are a bit old . But still, it"s beautiful and excellent actors all of them!
alex thelizardking I know! This s one of the BEST stories from Jane Austin and I can’t believe it’s not gotten a big screen treatment multiple times. I love this story. Mr. Darcy doesn’t hold a candle to Mr.Wentworth.
Jane Austin's Ann was neither very young, nor very pretty. Amanda Root is perfect for the part. Generally, British films tend to cast more for character than for glamour.
When you take the medical, dental, dietary and sanitary conditions of the Regency period, Amanda Root is probably a good, realistic example of a woman in her late 20’s. That was late youth/early midlife in that time. Amanda Root is still beautiful in the role. She has excellent chemistry with Ciaran Hinds. She’s also wonderfully expressive and a great physical actress. So understated but she commands every scene.
@@amasion2882: Yes, I agree. Root is a wonderful actor. The production itself is a little masterpiece of understatement . Every scene is polished and lit to perfection. Alas the BBC production falls short with its breathless Ann ( Sally Hawkins) and insipid Wentworth.
CIarán Hinds as Frederick is acting goals for me. His facial expressions, his tone... it's all absolutely brilliant.
He's been my greatest crush, too, since his Mr. Rochester in 97's "Jane Eyre". Amazing talent.

I agree with you! 😇
Yessss
The most romantic was the 2007 version.
Mr. Hinds has the most lovely, expressive eyes I have ever seen. I have noticed how he uses his eyes alone to transmit feelings and thoughts, and that is true of every film I have seen him in. Amazing.
Have you seen Sanditon? The eyes have it.
I love this movie. I've seen it like 50 times. I'm not normal. But this version is wonderful.
Roville me too
That's not normal! You need to watch more and more! :)
The absolute best
Sounds perfectly normal to me.
Me too...seen it like 200 times

He is actually Irish 😊
He's mine,jk
So jealous. You can tell he was SO ANGRY. With himself and Lady Russell

He takes my breath away.😊
What I especially love about most of his films is, he plays an honourable man.
Had a crush on Ciarian Hinds
Since Jane Eyre.
AMEN!!! Mmmrreeoowwrrr..
Me too I still have a crush on him
The perfect Capt.Wentworth.

All the scenes between him and her are great!
Ciaran Hinds was gorgeous.
Is
I love that this version has a more memorable cast for me when i watch it i just love watching them
I love this movie. It has such a romantic feel to the whole movie. I love the beginning, it sets the tone for the whole movie.
Those incredible cheekbones.
Ciarán Hinds is the perfect Captain Wenworth. This version is one of my favorite films. ❤️❤️❤️
💯
“I neither know nor care!”
That was such a cruel thing to say to her 😟
@@arajo5773 Yeah, but he was leaving because that guy was flirting with her so much the whole time and he likes her so he couldn’t stay there seeing the one he likes hitting it off with another guy.
Huge oof
Don’t know and don’t care 💅
He was there just for her and since she was giving her attention to the other guy there was no reason for him to be there at all…
I ❤️ this movie! The Captain is so 😍
Love this actor
I love you Ciaran !!!!
The best Wentworth ever.
El mejor capitán Wenworth ❤
Mance Rayder went north to lead the wildling because Anne Elliot rejected him lol
Orange Fox you win the comments game
Ciaran is pretty my God.
He has beautiful, cat-like eyes.
Ciaran!!!!
Its sad. He really thought she went on with her life
It breaks my heart everytime knowing that he really thought she went on with her life
It's obvious she's trying to tell him.
The main thing is that everything ended well!

Most romantic angst in fiction can be solved by a brief conversation, but they have to put it off for a few hundred pages.
я обожаю этот фильм и этого капитана Вентворта
Best man. Love him.

And here I am after the 2022 adaptation 😭
Wonderful actor e men !-
Excellent work !!! Please use subtitles The sound reception is not always clear enough
He was really leaving early to find the motherboxes
Just witnessed a new version by the BBC . I think Rupert Penryn was Wentworth...wasn't a patch on Cieran!!
He was all wrong.
He's good too but I think he's more suitable for a Darcy or a landowner, not a sea captain
Rupert miscast... acted more like a spoilt brat than professional seaman
He looks like if someone tried to draw Al Pacino from memory.
😂😆🤣
I love this part he is so jelly
Can youevenbelievehowwonderfulheis!!!!!!
he is the best!
My favorite Captain Wentworth. You can see the Pain and Anger
Noican't!
Ciaran Hinds IS Captain Wentworth. Is perfect.
I NEED A MODERN RETELLING OF THIS.

I have one developing in my head ;)
Believe me, you don't, Netflix just did one and the trailer is horrendous.
Ciaran ❤
I Love this Version ! But there only a couple of scenes. How Can I get the whole Film or serie?!
I had to go to Amazon Prime Video to buy it then I can stream it anytime I need to.
I bought the DVD and watch it never bored by it fab cast and set so professional!❤
Perfect captain mercy 🤦🏻♀️
Ciaran T.
UNBEARABLE
Rest in peace Ciaran hinds
But he is very much alive !!
He plays actually in Kenneth Brannaghs "Belfast" and ist nominated for an Oscar! ✊😊
Ciaran Hinds is, thankfully, alive and well in 2023, his performances here and in Belfast were magnificent.
O problema desse ator é não ter me beijado e casado comigo simples assim.
Meh. This Anne is too old.
Noni Gana She was nine-and-twenty when they were reunited which in those days classified her as a spinster.
Dee Sanchez She looked to be in her 30s or 40s. Sally Hawkins' look is more appropriate, age-wise.
