THANK YOU FOR WATCHING AND BEING WONDERFUL!!!
WARNING! Scammers have been in my comments trying to get people's personal information. I am not running any giveaways right now and I don't use Telegram. We've blocked and reported the ones we've found, but please let us know if any more pop up. Thank you to everyone who gave me a heads up about this!
I'm only about 9 minutes in, but just had to pause to say that Joe is really killing this edit!! It's so good! I'm thoroughly entertained by the product inserts, and the gag about the Milk primer size gave me a lil chuckle :)
Omg “could not get it up in any way for Too Faced after the cake incident” is the most perfect way to describe how I felt, looool
The Jones Road balm really is more of a niche product. Bobbi herself said she specifically formulated it for dry aging skin. Not saying that younger ppl wont enjoy it, but just something to be aware of. If you have really smooth more oily skin, you probably won't vibe with it much. But I think it looks truly stunning on some of the more mature women that I've seen try it out recently. 💜💜💜
Definitely! I have verrrry dry skin, and I'm verrry into the Jones Road balm. It's the first tinted moisturizer that I've found that's, like, actually moisturizing. Also, the photos online don't show the undertones right at all. My undertone is solidly neutral and I've found beige, the light-medium shade, to be an excellent undertone match. Even though the photos online make it look as pink as a strawberry!
But, Hannah, you'd absolutely hate this balm, even if you found a color match. It's truly balmly! A little sticky. In like a, "I just applied some fancy oils to my face, and yes, it does happen to be just a little more even than it was five minutes ago."
The best thing to do would be to call Jones Road for a sample to test drive before drawing a conclusion. I have the foundation and love it, but I had to try it out a few times until I found a way that worked with my skin care. It’s not for everyone though. I know what you mean about the colors. In general, I don’t think there are enough shades in the very fair range.
Bite beauty closing makes a lot of sense, honestly. The reformulation was a hot mess. Not only was it ideologically questionable (replacing ethically sourced lanolin and beeswax with ???) every new product was worse! Ruined it for themselves for no reason.
And the relaunch happened December 26, 2019, so they had a lot of the same problems as makeup geek, in terms of the panini hitting them at worst time financially.
@@asquaredmorrisdancer I know you meant pandemic, but the thought of a panini having serious financial implications has me 😂 🥪
par-asocial relationships are interesting, my gf and i talk about hannah like she is a friend when we go shopping or in the world “hlp likes this mascara” “would hlp buy this or should we wait and see if the feeling passes”
and we have been watching heartstopper on loop, i sent her the screen shot of hannah and nickncharlie and she said HLPSTOPPER 😭
Hannah you are part of my life and a small part of my relationship and i thank you so much for that 💖
This is an underrated comment
@@claireh8125 Thank you! i appreciate you! sure the comment is long and meandering but it made me laugh 😂
Heartstopper has us all in a chokehold, as it be doing, it's just that good. Whilst watching it, I thought of your video about new makeup trends about which you're excited, and the point you made about the return of whimsy and light-heartedness to the beauty world. It gave me those feelings in spades, because it reminded me of a happier, more carefree and simpler time in my life and the world I inhabit. I truly believe that this show came at exactly the right time, and consequently had exactly the right impact. I crave that sort of joy, fulfilment, and fun in everything I do now: this impact, for me, has spilled over into ever aspect of my life, including makeup and beauty.
Hautemess Tom has a really interesting take on the Bite Beauty closure, from the POV of someone in retail on the ground, watching them completely piss away their goodwill and return customers with a badly executed rebrand and reformulation...
Haha YES I love the book Half Magic! I read it when a kid I was tutoring checked it out from her school library for a book report, and we had such a great time getting into it. I bought it myself to read with my future kid(s)
My brain always lights up when I see Perspex or Lucite or vinyl in neon and iridescent. I've decided to just buy some vinyl "fabric" and make these bags I crave!
Omg, I forgot about the book Half Magic! My mom read it to me as a kid and I loved it so much, she eventually taped (on actual cassette tapes) herself reading it so I could listen to it on long car trips. She did that with several Edward Eager books. Thank you for jogging that memory! I am interested in the brand, but I don’t want you to have to spend money on something that doesn’t excite you very much 😊
Your videos bring me so much joy. I’m going through an extremely difficult time and this video was the first thing to genuinely distract me from heartache for a full 30 minutes. I wish I could explain how grateful I am and just how much that means to me.
Thank you for sharing pieces of yourself and your beautiful energy with us 💗
Sending support from a stranger. HLP got me through tough times too.
I'm 61 and read Half Magic when *I* was a kid. Great book!
Jones road is just not resonating with me in the least bit. Green washed and like glossier for the mature consumer is my take. Joe did a FANTASTIC job! U guys make a great team❤️
I whole heartedly agree that heartstopper is a 4 hour film. Make time for it! 😭❤️
Also, I caved and picked up the Danessa Myricks balm and... damn it is so, so good. I feel like it's going to last me for 3 years because you barely need any and it covers so well. I'm not quite as fair as you, but I got shade one and it's definitely too light for me until I add bronzer and stuff.
Second that it’s so so good!!!!
I third! It has changed my makeup game in that I’m not having to blot all day. So nice!
I would love, love, LOVE to see your take on the euphoria makeup trend!!! Not just one look either, I would like you to explore a few different moods and levels of everyday wearable-ness (sry, non native English speaker here lol) but maybe in your own color palette with the warm earthy tones...man I literally can't wait to see that, I'm gonna have to try it myself today. Anyway, loved this vid it put me in a great mood. Kisses and hugs, Hanna! Have a great week!
I think for the too faced resurgence to revolve around fun too faced 90s aesthetic, I think it would do really well! Think furry pink phones, leopard print, lime green plastic blow up chairs, wall collages, adorned denim, Gwen Stefani at festival vibes and Pamela Anderson/ resurgence of Marilyn Monroe references. The dreamy delight of what this could be. Especially now with our 90s obsession.
I not only read and loved Half-Magic as a kid, I think I still have my copy!!
So I actually just picked up the new Ilia tinted sunscreen, and I can answer some of your questions about it. I'm the same level of pale as you (although cool undertoned and not olive), which is one of the reasons I love your recommendations. And I was scared to try the lightest shade when I pumped it out for the first time, but it actually blends perfectly into my skin tone and is totally undetectable. And it actually has such a low amount of coverage that I don't even really consider it to be a kind of base/complexion product. It's more of a serum/primer/sunscreen for me, and I can actually use the same amount that I would use a normal sunscreen and it blends in without looking like I have any foundation or anything on my skin. I've really liked it so far! If you're still interested, I would maybe try going into a Sephora and blending it into the back of your hand to see how it blends in and disappears.
Thank you for that review. I think I will try it
I'm not even super pale, in foundations I'm usually right at the border of pale to light. I prefer an untinted sunscreen, even if it has some white-cast, because it's closer to my skin tone than a tinted spf for light skin.
I'm getting a bit sick of brands choosing not to offer any products for the fairest skin tones - I really want to try one of these low-effort complexion products but there is simply nothing that will work 😂
So glad Salt New York took on the feedback and are expanding their range, I'm looking forward to trying that one day.
As a super pale person I recommend the ilia super serum skin tint in .5. It works great for my cool toned skin. If you have warmer skin you may like their newer foundation (not the sunscreen in this video) in the same shade number.
Tbh I hate that the same number is a different shade in two separate base products, but I like the product I have. Also, even though the serum skin tint has spf I do layer it over other sunscreen
the ilia .5 is nicely pale... it also doesn't oxidize darker because of the sunscreen in it- slightly white cast but I love it.
edit: Salt NY lightest shade is still fairly dark- I have to buy the white mixer to make it my shade. I do love the formula, but be prepared to mix (& pay extra)
@@Nick-ei8lt huh? Glossier is nothing like Salt NY colorwise- Salt NY is far more neutral & Glossier is warm toned. Ilia & Glossier are closer in terms of shade range (& overall product type). And even Glossier's lightest shade isn't as light as Ilia's or Salt NY (with the mixer added)- & since there's nothing to make Glossier lighter, it will always be too dark for the fairest shades. I have all 3 brands & speak from experience when it comes to their products in the lightest shades.
What I think is so interesting about Bite Beauty closing is that they're still opening new Bite Beauty Lip Lab locations. It seems like that's where they've decided to focus, rather than a whole line of cosmetics. Even people I know who aren't into beauty have told me they want to visit the Lip Labs. I think it's fantastic they're going all in on the Lip Labs and opening up that new way of being creative with makeup to the masses! As someone who loves color, I would LOVE to see you visit and create your own custom lipstick one day!🤞🏻🤞🏻
She did! I forget the service she used (it wasn't Lip Lab), but she made three shades. Maybe 6(?) months ago. I'll link it if I can find the video.
Edit: found it! The company was Finding Ferninand, and she made 4 shades: ua-cam.com/video/Gtrx_ZTrkl4/v-deo.html
@@kaceyavellone8692 Oh, totally!! I meant in person where you get the whole experience of working with the consultant, trying things on, and having a say in the mixing of the color. I definitely was not clear in my comment. 🤦🏻♀️ Lol Thank you, though! I've been wanting to try Finding Ferdinand. It seems so fun! 😊
I appreciate Joe's style of editing 😍
It's really fun 😂
Bite Beauty also launched the reformulation in late 2019 which was unfortunate with what happened not long after. So I think that helped tank them. It wasn't a good time for a rebrand especially for a brand that would need to have a strong in store presence. And I think bite needed that.
Have you seen the L'oreal Age Perfect tinted balm? I would be curious to learn how it compares to your other foundation balms
Yeah me too. Plus I'd like to see if the lightest shade would work for her. I'm kinda doubting it though. It looks like it would match me and Hannah is about a shade or so lighter than me.
@@christyfielding7498 so the L’Oreal one has 2 shades per depth. I’m not sure if they’re meant to be slightly different tones or undertones, but I could easily see one of the fair shades being light enough for Hannah. For reference, my shade match is Nars Fiji and I got the shade Light 20 because I perceived a more yellow undertone in that one. On my skin, it was very sheer and more neutral but not in a way that didn’t jive. I’d even say it was a hair too light where I built it up. My only issue is that it is so firmly pressed that building coverage without digging into the product was extremely tedious. I’d consider trying it again when I use up my preferred sheer base, but I passed it on because I didn’t want it to go bad while it waited its turn.
I tried the Loreal Age Perfect tinted balm and really like it. I use the lightest shade and it is a little deep for me but since it isn't full coverage it isn't very noticeable.
I’ve heard good things about it, but the lightest shade is definitely going to be too dark and orangey on Hannah :/
Without wishing to start a fight (please just let me have my view here guys), can I just say that I NEVER wish to hear about L’Oréal for two reasons, one far more important than the other. Let’s start with the least important. They rarely account for the palest of the pale, especially in Australia where I’m from. In fact, when I made inquiries as to why the palest shades were always missing from the shelves, I was told that L’Oréal were making active and deliberate attempts to phase out the lightest shades. So for an Aussie it’s frustrating to even hear about them. Don’t even mention them. We can’t get them in pale enough shades. Second, and here’s the rub (and it depends on your ethics/views) but L’Oréal were one of the few companies after WW2 who refused to make reparations for what they stole from the Jewish community. I know they have had other ownership structures since then but it’s not clear that the original owners are entirely gone and in any case the current company structure has never bothered to offer an apology if any sort. Anytime I hear their catch phrase “You’re worth it”, I automatically think, “Yeah right, unless you’re Jewish”. Anyway highly controversial I know and if Hannah wishes to delete this I’d understand but I just can’t handle that company or what they stand for and I don’t wish to hear about them. They make my stomach churn!
I'm getting kind of attached to the one square of paint on the wall. It looks fully intentional and I like it 😂
I loved bite lipsticks and the OG overnight lip mask was incredible … the reformulation wasn’t very good
The background is coming together! Love your hot takes videos. ❤️
Yay! Thank you!
YES, PLEASE on a Hannah does Euphoria inspired makeup video!! 💜💚💙
YES! I love Half Magic!! That was one of my favorite books (and series) as a child!
Hannah I also read Half Magic as a kid, thank you so much for mentioning that because I have been wracking my brain as to why the brand sounded familiar and you solved it thank you so much! Makes me want to read the book again.
I love that you loved Heartstopper! I'm on my third rewatch, so I empathize with the urge to just start it all over again. I wish we could gush about it together - my friends are being so slow to watch! "their little faces" hahah. It gives all the warm feelngs.
I love the book Half Magic! I read it as an adult though. But my favorite part was when they went back to medieval times. I remember half-knights. But I felt the exact same way about the makeup line. I'm happy for her and it looks like a lot of fun, but I don't see anything that I can't (and probably already did) get from Danessa Myricks or About-Face. Maybe its priced better for Gen Z?
Love that you’re obsessed with Heartstopper like the rest of us!
omg you unlocked a childhood memory that was buried DEEP with half magic. I loved that book! haven't thought about it in 20 years ??
I'm VAMPIRE pale with cool-toned (pink) dry skin, and I got the Jones Road WTFoundation in the lightest shade. It's super neutral on me, to the point of looking grey, and it definitely does look much darker than my usual, but blends in fine and isn't dark on my pale skin. But! Very little coverage, not buildable at all, and STICKY. Like, sticky and slippery at the same time? I can't explain it. If a whisp of my hair brushes across my face, it sticks to my face 😂
And I'm 36 for "skin maturity" reference, if that helps anyone!
I LOVED the book half magic as a kid. I might just have to revisit that and read it again!
YAY! I always love Joe's editing style! "Boyfriend edits my video" is one of my favorite videos on your channel. I always end up laughing out loud at "MEAT"!
I was excited to see what Half Magic turned out to offer, but I'm not excited by anything it's giving yet. Donni and the rest of the Euphoria makeup artists were using cool existing brands like Danessa Myricks (how I first got obsessed with her a few years ago!) as part of putting together a super creative, young art-kid vibe for those characters, actually playing on some nascent Gen Z makeup trends. This to me has more of a LiMiTeD tOo makeup vibe. I don't mean that as a knock on the quality, but everything being so shiny and glittery and the colors they are ... it just feels like choices have already been made for you. I've also learned through the years that it's really tough for me to fall in love with a sparkly liquid eye product in general. They're so often tough to work with. More importantly, I want pure pigments, a wild range of shades, more options. I don't want to use my 6th grade gel pens on my face. (IMPORTANT CAVEAT: I always want a pure gold leaf-type liquid liner that's basically just what you'd get from one of those metallic Sharpies. Where are the gold liquid liners with not a hint of glitter?! WHERE ARE THEY?!???????????? Still holding onto my dried-out limited-edition one, plus the silver, from Glossier's first-ever holiday drop back in, like, 2014 or whatever. It disappointed me, too, but keeping it around reminds me that nothing gold can slay.)
Check TJ maxx for the Marc Jacobs metallic liquid highliners💜
@@kellymcdaniel6272 Haha OK, I feel like I have to trust a Maxxinista rec
I wish Marc Jacobs beauty would get their act together and return! But until then…🤣
@@kellymcdaniel6272 Been a while since I looked at these, but maybe if it ever comes back, they can add a perfect, slightly more antiqued gold to these. The one in the swatches I can find is sooooo yellow! I swear, one of these days I'm going to put out the huge, easy-to-mix cream eyeshadow palette of my dreams and a metallic Sharpie-inspired liner line. One more reason to regret not majoring in chem.
it’s not a liquid liner but the metallic makeup by mario pallet has a gold silver bronze and rose gold that are SUPERRRR shiny , it can be mixed with a mixing medium to get that crazy liquid metal look too
I love every take you have, especially just the way in which you talk about them. Always my favourite videos from you!
Thank you for talking about the problem on the light side of the scale with serums, tinted moisturizers, tinted sunscreens, etc. If extremely pale and neutral it's so challenging to find one that works. I refuse to bring makeup down my neck so it really makes finding a liquid foundation work without adding a white mixative to it in edition to any colored additive. 🦋
I’ve loved Haus Labs since I tried it in 2020. I’m so excited to dive head first into this rebrand!
Love these vids! Also, the background is coming together quite nicely 🌱✨
Unrelated: my hair being similar to your hair and you rocking your gorgeous wavy shag is what helped me realize that I have wavy hair too!! So glad to finally be taking care of it correctly after decades of mistreated it
I would be very interested in a review of the danessa myricks balm. It looks like it's a weird but interesting product to me. Also, that would be very late to the game but the KVD good apple balm foundation maybe?
Love you Hannah!
Seriously was waiting for a new vid from you. One of the best YTers everrrrr. Also, I’m always obsessed with desert themed makeup lol. I’d love to see a video you trying to recreate this desert theme
I’m taking a proper sick day today and, inspired by this video, will be binging Heartstopper. I can’t wait.
Agreed - I will never lose the image of that cake, rebrand or not!
Oh my gosh core memory unlocked! I think my dad used to read the Half Magic series to me and my brother when we were young :) also finally watched Heartstopper and I too am obsessed!
I looove a hot takes video! Thanks Hannah for keeping us all entertained!
thank you so much for watching!
@@HannahLouisePoston it’s a pleasure to check in with you via your videos! I really enjoy the variety you showcase! ❤️
I actually love too faced for both the aesthetics and the quality and I think a lot of other people do too, I hope they keep all the products and the branding as is
I'm pretty much as fair as you are and the lightest Jones Road WTF works for me
As someone who is also super fair, don't worry about the tint in the ILYA sunscreen, the point of tinted sunscreens isn't to be like a base product and cover anything, the tint is just to prevent white cast.
I ❤️❤️❤️the Haus labs liquid eyeliner pen
“Pink as a pig” made me lol
The (incidental?) double entendre of Heartstopper “leaving no purchase” for any of the new makeup releases at 29:46 put a smile on my face. Thank you for being one of the most poetically stimulating and entertaining beauty UA-camrs out there, and for quelling my ever-excitable curiosity and hunger to try new makeup with your intuitive and thoughtful musings. I love your “what’s bringing me joy” videos and here’s something that brings me joy: your outro! It just gives me the little mental boost I need to rally myself and keep going. So glad to have found this channel and to be on this slightly wacky, super fun train ride with you all
You look very happy 😊 and that makes me happy. Your hair is so awesome too Hannah 🤍
Thank you!! 😊
I will raise my hand and said I have rebought House labs entrance and glassslipper lipgloss but nothing else. This rebranded is one of the best things to happen to house labs. I hope it works. If it doesn’t I still have my clionch stain glass eyeshadow and my salt New York sneaky tint balm.
I loved Heartstopper so much ! But I had to stop some times because I was getting too emotional. It’s the series I needed when I was a teen, and I’m SO glad it’ll be there for other queer young people 💚 Even at almost 30 it healed parts of me.
If anyone else is looking for another queer tv show on netflix, I recommend Young Royals. It’s not as wholesome as Heartstopper, but it’s such a refreshing show because the high school characters look like actual high schoolers and not 30 year old, which makes the show feel grounded and real. Plus, the leads have amazing chemistry and the story will hook you in! There is a second season in the works, too!
I’m so glad I’m not the only person wrapped up in the nostalgia of the Half Magic children’s books right now lol
I would love to see an entire video in iambic pentameter. Oh, please, please. That sounds like a delightfully colorful makeup video. 👏🏻🦋👏🏻🦋👏🏻🦋
love love love the wall paint square ❤ I'm excited to see if you choose it and decide to paint the rest of the wall.
"pink as a pig" I snorted! hahaha!
I know exactly what you mean about the constant industry changes putting "the hype" into perspective! I feel this way about Anastasia. I've used their palettes to death over the years, but I'm noticing that now the hype has died down... I can see all the flaws? For example, the fuzzy packaging of their palettes that I'm constantly spot cleaning, the overly pigmented dark matte shades that are a nightmare to blend, left completely untouched in both palettes of mine. I can't even use some of their lighter shades because they contain Bismuth Oxychloride which is an incredibly abrasive white pigment. I honestly cannot wait to finish the one shade I like (bronze) so I can ditch this thing and leave these products in the past.
Honestly the entire beauty industry is over priced and over hyped. I buy a new makeup product and it can be fantastic and in my head I am already wondering what the next best one is. It’s just a scam. I’ve definitely been spending way more frugally.
@@macandfire5477 Yeah same! I'm very much a "one in, one out" person now. I try not to double up on products with a short shelf life. The only products I actually invest in are powder colour cosmetics (powder, blush, eyeshadow, highlighter) because they take ages to finish and the higher end products have sturdier packaging.
I like that the background gets a bit more exciting with each video. It's looking great!
Love the product image edits, always.
I always feel like we're one or two videos away from Hannah Writing Fanfic haha. Love it, added Heartstopper to the to-watch list.
Loving Joe's edit. Also loving the vignette in the background, especially the chair 🤩.
I also watched Heartstopper in one sitting ! So lovely, warm, and sweet 🥰
Wow you unlocked a memory I forgot I had of that half magic book. I loved that book when I was a kid, I used to read it every summer 💙
Dying every time you say ‘blursh’.
Yay! Another Heartstopper fan!! ♡
Loved heartstopper, got all my friends to watch
Just finished watching Heartstopper. You were right. It's a 4h film. It's amazing. Bawled my eyes out. Loved it 💜
Loveeee a Joe edited video! C'est parfait!
Well done, Joe! And of course, Hannah, as always ❤️
Joe, you did a great job editing the video!
I love how the background is looking today!
I love Heartstopper SO MUCH. I am on my second watch.
The Ilia sunscreen has the same problem at the darkest shade. If your skin is darker than that shade you can't buff and blend it in because it is a sunscreen and needs to be applied at a certain concentration. Wouldn't be so frustrating if they didn't advertise a swipe of it on a model who is clearly much darker than the shade and would look crazy to have it all over her face. Like why are you showing in your advertisement how much it won't work for that model while simultaneously suggesting that she can wear it.
Omg new makeup hot takes in iambic pentameter…. Yes this yes please 😂👏🏽 you crack me up😂
Love that you switch up your intro every time for those of us who aren't new - this version was particularly good, I think. :)
I am not clamoring for a Half Magic review but I AM clamoring for an HPL-does-Euphoria-makeup video!
The end edit - so good. Well done, Joe. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Would love to see your take on the L’Oréal tinted balm. It seems to be the only drugstore option of a balm product so I’m very intrigued how it compares to the high end products you have reviewed.
I’m obsessed with the L’Oréal Balm, on my second jar.
I bought the palest shade of the L'Oreal balm and I am not as fair as Hannah. All the shades skew orangey-peach. It doesn't look bad on my neutral skin, but I only wear it on days when I don't go anywhere. Sneaky Balm is better.
@@elizabethbarrow3801 the shade range sucks so I am not surprised, but I love the finish.
@@ariana9yc I do enjoy the cooling feeling it has when you apply it, and it doesn't emphasize pores or wrinkles. It's too bad L'Oreal doesn't offer more shades. Their other foundations do, so I wonder why this balm one is so limited.
@@elizabethbarrow3801 I 100% agree with you on all your points.
Love this video, Hannah. You seemed to be having fun, and Joe’s editing seems excellent.
Hannah this new background is absolutely LUSH!!!
Beyond triple! Quadruple even! 🤣
Omg dupe the vibes of Morphe 🙋🏼♀️👏🏻👏🏻
Loving how the background accessorizing is going!
Lol yes sees the Johnny mnemonic reference. Love it
I've tried a few of the house labs products and they were just okay. However I have one of their lip pencils and lipsticks in a color that I cannot find anywhere else. It works so well for my skin and the formula is good. Not great but good.
The chanticaille baked gelee are definitely worth a try they're different than the rest Hannah
Heartstopper did the exact same thing to me!
I listened to the video while working on a project. I'll have to watch later in honor of Joe's editing!
Update: I took the day off work today. I have several tasks that I need to accomplish--one of them is watching this video! :)
Loved it! Great job, Joe! Oh, and, Hannah, you did a good job, too. ;)
My friend and I just finished Heartstopper and I have nothing else I want to talk about besides it XD. brb forcing all my friends to watch it so I can squeal with others about how painfully cute every character is
I’m in the habit of liking your videos before I even watch them so I don’t forget LOL
Hannah you gotta read the heart stopper books!!!! they are graphic novels and they are excellent! i got covid this week and watching heart stopper and reading the books on loop has gotten me through it!
The return of frisson!💜
I was *seriously* contemplating dropping $82 on the Chantecaille Sunbeam (I've heard it's a true 3 in 1 cheek and the formula is right up my alley) but then I forced a WWHLPD reckoning and remembered I used to love mixing the Nabla skin glazing bronzer (a true baked gelle powder) with the Em heaven's glow blush on the same brush. Even though it's one more compact to dip into, it gives exactly what I hoped Sunbeam would. Double win - I'm excited about makeup I already had, and liberated in advance from any remorse. Like the old saying goes, not wanting something is as good as having it ; )
I love the chantecaille packaging
