The only reason why the admirals could keep up with whitebeard is because he didn't use haki. Neither observation or armament haki. He was sick and still he was able to stab aokiji and you could see on aokijis face, he was surprised that he have still alive. If whitebeard used haki against him then aokiji would be dead. Same with kizaru in the scene where he attacks him on the back and akainu lost the battle against him. Shanks and the other yonkos are not sick and they can use haki and they are very strong. Shanks trained all 3 haki forms to the maximum. We could see on whitebeard ship and in marineford how fast he is. He can see in the future and can easily dodge akainus attack. Akainu have not so much chance to beat a haki master who is very strong, fast and can see in the future. I doubt that he can hurt shanks very badly. And we should not forget, his sword style rivals mihawks. He was in the past before he met luffy or gets the titel yonko the rival of mihawk. In that time he was way weaker than now.
