  • Certain Affinity has been working behind the scenes and most of your favorite FPS games for the last decade, but now they're beginning to work on their own original IPs.
Recently the studio announced a new studio in the Toronto area and has previously spoken about their first AAA IP, The Last Expedition.

    Hey everyone!
Welcome to our latest developer interview! This time we're talking with Certain Affinity about their history as a company, their new studio in Toronto and a little bit about creating their own original IPs for the first time. Unfortunately they couldn't talk much about their new IP yet, The Last Expedition, but hopefully we can do a follow-up interview later this year on that subject!
Hope you enjoy the interview and apologies for the lack of an interesting background (stick to the end to see concept art from The Last Expedition). We're in the middle of editing multiple documentaries at the moment so don't have a whole lot of time for editing projects like this!

Their founder has an online academy in which he basically teaches the principles of design that he uses. I've been following his interviews and featured videos to develop my own game. This is certainly a welcome interview and I'm now hyped for their next game. Max is probably only design lead that was able to marry both old school PC FPS design with console sensibilities. Color me hype for now, don't know where you get time to post so much excellent content.

@@OPTIMUMELITE I was under the impression that they weren't talking about Mike Clopper, but rather Hardy LeBel who is credited as the main lead designer behind Halo 1's Multiplayer. If you want further insights on game development and level design specifically I'll recommend you to check this interview by The Act Man (ua-cam.com/video/OheqVrMGPv0/v-deo.html) where he goes with insights that are rarely talked about and you can also check his own channel at ua-cam.com/channels/RTexStRSiHNR21y4hdx4Yw.htmlvideos . His website is www.videogamecareer.academy/ , which is the one I was talking about. If you want some further insight in regards to level design, you can check this interview at Gamasutra: www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/195069/deathmatch_map_design_the_.php
