If you read the books (i read em all like a nerd). Alien Earth hive and where the novels were taking it is the best and only way to continue the franchise without ruining it like 'they' do to everything else.
They could get another queen (for another movie) by cloning Ripley 8; no reason why her clone wouldn't be 'born' having a queen in her chest as well. Imagine a hive full of mutant queens churning our newborns 24/7.
I liked the storyline but there were just elements of that movie that didn't mesh well. The acting in parts was campy, especially with Dan Hedaya playing General Martin Perez. His character was just more campy and goofy and it didn't flow right with the movie IMO. Also the reference to Walmart buying out Weyland-Yutani was rather hokey as well. But overlooking that it was decent and yeah it would've been great to see them continue with Ripley 8's story.

No, Scott was initially enthusiastic, then Cameron said the guy seemed to suddenly no longer communicate about the project. HE continued writing. Then heard about the AVP film being made, table-flipped and went away to do other stuff, but ultimately watched it and thought it was a much better concept than he imagined it would be (which was some sort of bizarre city-wide 'Godzilla'-type thing). Fox wasn't even aware him and Scott had been talking about anything and certainly weren't aware Cameron had been writing something.

Alien 4 is barely watchable. They had to do something different. When they finally made Prometheus, Scott had some come in an rewrite the movie as it was being filmed. There’s over 10 million in movie scenes that were just scrapped. I think he was originally making a good film, when a creative disagreement erupted and stuff was moved around. If you watched Prometheus and wondered why something didn’t make sense, it’s all filmed Scott just can’t release it. Stupid. Back to part 4, it did terrible as well.

It's a great version. It's called the Agent 9 fanedit as he was the editor. It's hard as hell to find but worth finding.
The late 90s and early 2000s were a different era that fueled a unique appetite. Alien 5 may have flopped. That's the reason the story was transitioned to other sources i.e. comics. Notice the sci-fi movies and shows of the late 90s and early 2000s: Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Star Trek Enterprise, Matrix, Stargate SG series, etc. They all have a similar cinematography, and atmosphere to capture the attention of the audience. An Alien 5 movie or show may likely be featured sometime in the 2030s in real life.

7:40 - Why didn't the Engineers create the xenomorph outbreaks by themselves? They were advanced enough to get through any human sensors/defenses and dump alien eggs near human bases. Why do they need to cut deals with the secret human government to do this?
In the prequels it showed that some of them are against the use of bio weapons like the Xeno. They probably used the humans to keep their hands free of guilt.

Thank you for the content. I have to say this blasphemy. No more Ridley Scott....I love some of his work, but his ideas on this franchise are tired or not properly told. Maybe studio interference, maybe not, but the horrible editing out of major story telling scenes that add to the plot, endless asinine scientist's decisions, electronics/controls catching fire everytime they land or wake up, horrible dialog or no subtitles for David or an engineer speaking an alien language, have hurt the franchise. Let someone else take the reigns of my favorite franchise. There are a ton of stories that can be told and/or explored. The studio wonders why the box office sales aren't better. Studio thinking let's cut everything important, keep run time at 2 hours so we can show more times per day. How about the questionable people in charge start with a good script, stick to the script, and let the story be told...and tell Ridley thanks for what he has contributed. And for heavens sakes, keep Neill Blombkamp away from this franchise. If he gets his hands on a one I know it will be made for TV... I am done with my off topic rant. Would have been cool to see what James Cameron came up with on his second crack with this franchise.
@Ben Hill Yes. Spot on. I know the causality rate accelerates exponentially starting at the 30 to 45 minute mark, but maybe developing a few more characters will do wonders for the drama. AC...how about the 1st and 2nd team science/operations teams burned up in stasis and the 3rd team or whoever they could wake up would have been much dire consequence if the Covenant was damaged 1/7th of the way onto Origae 6...and came across LV??? and s-load of danger. I only say this because Ridley is not going to tell us and he killed off shaw with no theatrical back story... I know hindsight is 20/20, but Ridley Scott is 82. He does not have 15 more years to tell the story at a movie every 5 years. Either David is the complete abomination or someone else is worse. Get to the point and tell a great story on film. It will sell.
Erc Ly I agree. The franchise needs a fresh reboot now . Given some of Cameron’s recent offerings though I’m not sure he is the man to save the lore. They could always go to the Alien isolation story or some of the comic books . Gibson’s Alien 3 had some interesting ideas but it deliberately underused the Ripley character for the next instalment. If they carry on with Ridleys vision it’s going to dampen the other movies. Run a new series parallel to the Weyland story and have other company’s vying for the weaponisation of the Zeno. I’m still waiting for the sequel to prometheous. I hated the off screen killing of Newt and Ridley did the same thing With Shaw.

I was actually a fan of Scott's movies. I really want Cameron to not return to this franchise. From the movies I've seen from him he always does the same stuff and leaves me really unimpressed. And I didn't like that Alien went from scifi horror to scifi action in Aliens. I guess that explains my Cameron grudge. Anyways I just purchased the Alien tabletop RPG book to see how the lore expands.

if there is going to be another alien movie with ridley it needs to be just after aliens, scrap the other 2 movies after it and produce something that keeps in line with the main story from alien and aliens. the struggle for survival was the key element in the movie, that she is a clone takes a lot of the story element away from it

The entire premise of that movie was just nonsensical and stupid. Hell, if we're gonna ask that question, might as well ask just how exactly cloning Ripley could yield a bonus queen-chestburster like she's some kind of sentient blind-bag. XD
@@refurbishedtechpriest9076 the queen being in the cyro-sleep made it take much longer to grow inside Ripley, Any alien can become a queen but most are born, so she was implanted with a queen. The aliens take DNA from there host which is why you have xenomorph, dog xenomorph, predator xenomorph, ect.... but because the queen had the side effects of the cyro-sleep and was in her for who knows how long when asleep, there DNA began to merge. So it was impossible to pluck just the alien as Alien DNA has human DNA, and being in Ripley Made its DNA that much more human, and hers that much more alien. This is why they could not clone just the alien or just Ripley, they had to clone both because they became one in the end. This is also why we see the queen with a womb, as when they finally perfected a Ripley clone, it still had to be surgically removed from her as they were one in the same, where's a normal xeno can just he removed without having to cut them from the host. What supports this even more, is all the faild Ripley clones, that the xeno and human DNA were one, she was just a clone that managed to get both to be somewhat split so the two beings could be separated from each other, but both still share the same DNA, you can look at it as a conjoined identical twins kinda thing.
I think it's a property of the aliens. They take DNA from their host, hence why we had the dog-alien in alien 3, the pred-alien in AvP 2. So they couldn't just separate the DNA, the alien needed some Ripley DNA in it to work, but they didn't know which Ripley DNA.
I'm glad that Jos Wheaton didn't get to write an Aliens movie script; I don't like when he tries (and fails) to put his own spin on someone else's intellectual property!
I believe that the studio owned the original scripts. They can make changes with a new writer. From time to time, I have read news articles of writers fighting to maintain creative control of their original scripts. Their intellectual property.
Cool Acidglow I think the movies if we'll executed will give so much love and ability to survive on any media, like that of Xenomorphs on a world base on Medieval Earth were no laser guns, no machine guns or way to overthrown the species only survive alongside them.
My take on this is that I like that James Cameron and Ridely Scott brought the storyline together and I think that a sequel or a prequel to Alien Resurrection would be a good idea to work on
The only good plot i liked about a next Alien movie was one about Hicks and Newt actually surviving to then be saved/found/rescued. They'd then try to locate and save ripley in some sort of space station to find out she actually got stuck in a similar planet to LV-426. This movie would have more colonial marines and similarities to Alien and Aliens, avoiding the terrible Alien 3 and Alien 4.
Could do with a sequel to resurrection but it would be awesome if we also got an AVP reboot set in space or another planet much like the comics and pc games
I Enjoyed the 1st AVP Movie, found it thoroughly entertaining. The 2nd one was a mess tough. I also liked the concept of the engineers seeding life on earth and the xenos being a bio weapon. I liked the idea of David and his psychology of hating his creators. Covenant was also good. Awakening is going to be amazing i can tell. It's good that both ridley and Cameron were not able to do Alien 5 & 6, the idea of engineers using xenos to wipe out earth is too far fetched.
I’d like to see a remake of the first aliens with all the pyramids and different type of queen breeds of some kind of mutated hybrids kinda like the alien king or like ret con different mutated hybrids of many nests or just different nests of Xenomorphs altogether of factions multiple different nest factions

That's a horrible script. Ripley and her friends are trying to survive in the Fallout ruins of Paris. Ripley gains new powers. Ripley and Call become best friends and fall in love with each other. Ripley creates an army of Xenomorphs and she sends them to attack the company! That's what we want to see in the next film!
Ridley Scott created a fantastic movie with Alien, but it was James Cameron that really explored the possibilities and expanded the universe. I was terribly disappointed with Ridley’s subsequent films and for a while I thought that Cameron was the only person that could really do this franchise justice, but he seems to be going down the same path as many of these once-trailblazing creators. Interjecting large amounts of philosophical and trying-to-find-myself/find god themes into their works. Not saying that these ideas are not worth exploring but within certain genres. I don’t look to horror movies for inspiration on the meaning of life and in trying to make sense of things in my twilight years. I just want to be thrilled and scared. I wasn’t a fan of the alien sequels after the second one, but they all did have their own little gemstone moments. The one in Resurrection that comes to mind is the underwater alien swimming scene…and that amazing basketball shot.
I can't stand the Engineers idea. Prometheus and Alien Covenant sucked. Especially knowing that David android helped create the Xenopmorph. It ruined the idea that the creature was just an alien that could adapt to it's new environments.

All movie franchises are more likely to lose their original senses by changing filming directions or, storylines or attempting to hybrid something new in embarrassing ways, see examples like the newly filmed aliens after 2000, and star wars VII, VIII all of the those kept low grossing than the fundamental ones, even trash made.
Why would Ripley be killing Xenomorphs? Ripley is a queen Xenomorph. She also does not hate the Xenomorph race anymore because she is one of them! I say that Ripley and Call are still living in the Fallout ruins of Paris. Ripley and Call become close friends and they fall in love with each other. Ripley puts on her Xenomorph suit and the Xenomorphs worship Ripley like a goddess. Ripley forms a Xenomorph army and she sends them to destroy the company.
also it doesn't matter if she is "one of them" she will forever see the xenomorph as this phantom that will continue to loom over her back and destroy everything and everyone she has ever cared about, be it a little orphaned girl, or the people she had once worked with and called her crewmates. The xenomorph symbolizes the downfall, and ultimately is her demon. If anything its depressing just how much it has consumed her, to the point that I'm sure there had to have been some form of internal disdain for who she has become.
All of those ideas are bogged-down in overly-complicated plotting and excessive sci-fi baggage. What makes the Alien movies and concept intriguing is the “alien-ness”, the element of unknowable mystery, of not having everything about them explained. It’s also about relatable humans (not pshychic, part-Alien clones, etc.) facing such horror. That said, I would have been interested to see Cameron‘s one take on the sequels to his own film, ignoring the others.
A great cross over would of been if when they made it to earth in the end they were shot down but a rocket and found terminators on Earth and boom we get a double whammy of AVPVT

One of the scientists in the movie does say "the queen was normal. but then entered a second cycle". So perhaps that's when her mutation/evolution (however you want to see it) happened.
Like most older generation fans as much so I like to see in Ripley The price overall I just wouldn’t make any sense unless she’s leaving messages for the future or she leaves some sort of hologram message in regards to the Zeno morphs it makes no sense going back over and over as much as we all wanna… I’m excited for the new generation to come.
My idea for an Alien5 movie is as follows: It takes place after alien4 and takes places on an earth in ruins. TheRipleyClone has transformed into an entity that is producing eggs,and a lot of humans are affected,and a war breaks out.They have to use a nuke on the swarms of xenomorphs and decidedes to travel to the planet where they think the xenomorphs orginate from.There they find there are multiple forms of xenomorphs.The manages to form a clone of a xenomorph that is able to communicate with them. And a peace is established.

Maybe studio interference, maybe not, but the horrible editing out of major story telling scenes that add to the plot, endless asinine scientist's decisions, electronics/controls catching fire everytime they land or wake up, horrible dialog or no subtitles for David or an engineer speaking an alien language, have hurt the franchise. Let someone else take the reigns of my favorite franchise.
There are a ton of stories that can be told and/or explored. The studio wonders why the box office sales aren't better. Studio thinking let's cut everything important, keep run time at 2 hours so we can show more times per day. How about the questionable people in charge start with a good script, stick to the script, and let the story be told...and tell Ridley thanks for what he has contributed.
And for heavens sakes, keep Neill Blombkamp away from this franchise. If he gets his hands on a one I know it will be made for TV...

I know the causality rate accelerates exponentially starting at the 30 to 45 minute mark, but maybe developing a few more characters will do wonders for the drama.
AC...how about the 1st and 2nd team science/operations teams burned up in stasis and the 3rd team or whoever they could wake up would have been much dire consequence if the Covenant was damaged 1/7th of the way onto Origae 6...and came across LV??? and s-load of danger. I only say this because Ridley is not going to tell us and he killed off shaw with no theatrical back story...
I know hindsight is 20/20, but Ridley Scott is 82. He does not have 15 more years to tell the story at a movie every 5 years. Either David is the complete abomination or someone else is worse. Get to the point and tell a great story on film. It will sell.
Erc Ly I agree. The franchise needs a fresh reboot now . Given some of Cameron’s recent offerings though I’m not sure he is the man to save the lore. They could always go to the Alien isolation story or some of the comic books .
Gibson’s Alien 3 had some interesting ideas but it deliberately underused the Ripley character for the next instalment. If they carry on with Ridleys vision it’s going to dampen the other movies. Run a new series parallel to the Weyland story and have other company’s vying for the weaponisation of the Zeno. I’m still waiting for the sequel to prometheous. I hated the off screen killing of Newt and Ridley did the same thing With Shaw.

I was actually a fan of Scott's movies. I really want Cameron to not return to this franchise. From the movies I've seen from him he always does the same stuff and leaves me really unimpressed.
And I didn't like that Alien went from scifi horror to scifi action in Aliens. I guess that explains my Cameron grudge.
Anyways I just purchased the Alien tabletop RPG book to see how the lore expands.
Funny thing is I found out I have that book when I digged through my library... No idea when I bought or where from but hey now I have a book to read!

if there is going to be another alien movie with ridley it needs to be just after aliens, scrap the other 2 movies after it and produce something that keeps in line with the main story from alien and aliens. the struggle for survival was the key element in the movie, that she is a clone takes a lot of the story element away from it

The entire premise of that movie was just nonsensical and stupid. Hell, if we're gonna ask that question, might as well ask just how exactly cloning Ripley could yield a bonus queen-chestburster like she's some kind of sentient blind-bag. XD

the queen being in the cyro-sleep made it take much longer to grow inside Ripley, Any alien can become a queen but most are born, so she was implanted with a queen. The aliens take DNA from there host which is why you have xenomorph, dog xenomorph, predator xenomorph, ect.... but because the queen had the side effects of the cyro-sleep and was in her for who knows how long when asleep, there DNA began to merge. So it was impossible to pluck just the alien as Alien DNA has human DNA, and being in Ripley Made its DNA that much more human, and hers that much more alien. This is why they could not clone just the alien or just Ripley, they had to clone both because they became one in the end. This is also why we see the queen with a womb, as when they finally perfected a Ripley clone, it still had to be surgically removed from her as they were one in the same, where's a normal xeno can just he removed without having to cut them from the host. What supports this even more, is all the faild Ripley clones, that the xeno and human DNA were one, she was just a clone that managed to get both to be somewhat split so the two beings could be separated from each other, but both still share the same DNA, you can look at it as a conjoined identical twins kinda thing.
I think it's a property of the aliens. They take DNA from their host, hence why we had the dog-alien in alien 3, the pred-alien in AvP 2. So they couldn't just separate the DNA, the alien needed some Ripley DNA in it to work, but they didn't know which Ripley DNA.

I believe that the studio owned the original scripts. They can make changes with a new writer. From time to time, I have read news articles of writers fighting to maintain creative control of their original scripts. Their intellectual property.

My take on this is that I like that James Cameron and Ridely Scott brought the storyline together and I think that a sequel or a prequel to Alien Resurrection would be a good idea to work on

They all communicate through thought. Especially in sleep and with weak minded people. In alien 3 it's telling the crazy prisoner dude to let her out.
The only good plot i liked about a next Alien movie was one about Hicks and Newt actually surviving to then be saved/found/rescued. They'd then try to locate and save ripley in some sort of space station to find out she actually got stuck in a similar planet to LV-426. This movie would have more colonial marines and similarities to Alien and Aliens, avoiding the terrible Alien 3 and Alien 4.
This plot has many affinities with the Doom eternal video game that will be released these days

I got quite confused reading the book.
For what I thought, it was David that made the Xenos, not the Engineers way back in the Prometheus movies.
They should make her own movie 🎥and make her an instructor for the clones space marines
They needed to explore Ripley 8. This was such a missed opportunity.

I Enjoyed the 1st AVP Movie, found it thoroughly entertaining. The 2nd one was a mess tough. I also liked the concept of the engineers seeding life on earth and the xenos being a bio weapon. I liked the idea of David and his psychology of hating his creators. Covenant was also good. Awakening is going to be amazing i can tell. It's good that both ridley and Cameron were not able to do Alien 5 & 6, the idea of engineers using xenos to wipe out earth is too far fetched.
Especially as earth is already trashed.

That's a horrible script. Ripley and her friends are trying to survive in the Fallout ruins of Paris. Ripley gains new powers. Ripley and Call become best friends and fall in love with each other. Ripley creates an army of Xenomorphs and she sends them to attack the company! That's what we want to see in the next film!

Ridley Scott created a fantastic movie with Alien, but it was James Cameron that really explored the possibilities and expanded the universe. I was terribly disappointed with Ridley’s subsequent films and for a while I thought that Cameron was the only person that could really do this franchise justice, but he seems to be going down the same path as many of these once-trailblazing creators. Interjecting large amounts of philosophical and trying-to-find-myself/find god themes into their works. Not saying that these ideas are not worth exploring but within certain genres. I don’t look to horror movies for inspiration on the meaning of life and in trying to make sense of things in my twilight years. I just want to be thrilled and scared. I wasn’t a fan of the alien sequels after the second one, but they all did have their own little gemstone moments. The one in Resurrection that comes to mind is the underwater alien swimming scene…and that amazing basketball shot.

I can't stand the Engineers idea. Prometheus and Alien Covenant sucked. Especially knowing that David android helped create the Xenopmorph. It ruined the idea that the creature was just an alien that could adapt to it's new environments.

All movie franchises are more likely to lose their original senses by changing filming directions or, storylines or attempting to hybrid something new in embarrassing ways, see examples like the newly filmed aliens after 2000, and star wars VII, VIII all of the those kept low grossing than the fundamental ones, even trash made.

Why would Ripley be killing Xenomorphs? Ripley is a queen Xenomorph. She also does not hate the Xenomorph race anymore because she is one of them! also it doesn't matter if she is "one of them" she will forever see the xenomorph as this phantom that will continue to loom over her back and destroy everything and everyone she has ever cared about, be it a little orphaned girl, or the people she had once worked with and called her crewmates. The xenomorph symbolizes the downfall, and ultimately is her demon. If anything its depressing just how much it has consumed her, to the point that I'm sure there had to have been some form of internal disdain for who she has become.
All of those ideas are bogged-down in overly-complicated plotting and excessive sci-fi baggage. What makes the Alien movies and concept intriguing is the “alien-ness”, the element of unknowable mystery, of not having everything about them explained. It’s also about relatable humans (not pshychic, part-Alien clones, etc.) facing such horror. That said, I would have been interested to see Cameron‘s one take on the sequels to his own film, ignoring the others.

One of the scientists in the movie does say "the queen was normal. but then entered a second cycle". So perhaps that's when her mutation/evolution (however you want to see it) happened.

Like most older generation fans as much so I like to see in Ripley The price overall I just wouldn’t make any sense unless she’s leaving messages for the future or she leaves some sort of hologram message in regards to the Zeno morphs it makes no sense going back over and over as much as we all wanna… I’m excited for the new generation to come.
My idea for an Alien5 movie is as follows:
It takes place after alien4 and takes places on an earth in ruins.
TheRipleyClone has transformed into an entity that is producing eggs,and a lot of humans are affected,and
a war breaks out.They have to use a nuke on the swarms of xenomorphs and decidedes to travel
to the planet where they think the xenomorphs orginate from.There they find there are multiple
forms of xenomorphs.The manages to form a clone of a xenomorph that is able to communicate with them.
And a peace is established.
