“The Japanese Mustang” Love it!! 👍😍...The 76/77 Celica GT Liftback is an undeniably handsome car and still turns heads up to these days. With the triple rectangular taillights, trim bits behind each rear-quarter window, pronounced haunches, and slight up-kick at the back of the rear fenders was unsurpassed compared to the 1977 Mustang II Cobra, which by the way, was a Pinto on steroids.
With the exception that mine was a manual 5 speed this is EXACTLY what my first car looked like...EXACTLY. The interior, colors, paint, stripes, wheels, etc. back in 83-84 in Mississippi. Loved that car.
I have the same car except mine is yellow and stick shift. I sold it when it has 180,000, the odometer show 80,000. The clock is the first not working and the the intake manifold and then rusted around the liftback window area and door panels. Later on has small leak on gas tank which I patched it up. Other than that, nothing is needed. I missed it. Thanks for the video.
Pity it is an automatic, but otherwise this car is stunning - both in its condition and in OEM originality. This is what they looked like in all their original glory. Always loved those OEM wheels with chrome trim rings, center caps and lug nuts.
I will pass on the stick. I had the exact car color and everything when I was 17 first stick shift car I owned and the clutch went 1 month after owning it $800 back then. traumatized me for life. Not sure if it was user error or the reason the previous owner was selling it (lol) yet everyone kept telling me how good the car was. Was in the shop every payday. The mechanics really loved me (lol).
@@jazzcornertv Sorry to hear that. I had 5-6 different Toyotas of this era and I think I managed to avoid any clutch issues. I had a heavy foot that was unkind to my '80 Supra. Yeah. I was an idiot.
@@NVRAMboi I might have just been the unlucky recipient (lol). And then people say you can feel when the clutch is going. Some of us may not be able to even feel when the car is not idling smooth much less the clutch that does not have a gauge indicating empty (lol). Those were the good old days when you were young and drove till it broke down. No PMS.
Really clean looking original condition Celica! If it's not too much trouble, I'm trying to help a guy that's recreating some of the original Celica decals. Does yours happen to have a relatively intact yellow decal on the radiator shroud? If so, I'd love to get a photo of it for him. I have the same car in Black but I'm missing the right side of the sticker which is really what he needs. If you have it, I'm sure I could get you a new looking one once he finds a decent to reproduce them. I can send you my email if you happen to have one and interested in helping! Thanks, Doug
