There's lots of youtube channels that put out English covers of vocaloid songs that are a little more accessible. The youtuber Rachie has a good cover of this song that you could check out.
This song has a cover from yuikonnu which i consider even better than the vocaloid version

vocaloids are just the synthesized vocals that the music producers (like Deco*27) use. It's not really a genre of music because there so many songs that are different so saying that Vocaloid is not your thing is not that accurate, unless you really hate synthesized vocals but that's not your case. You can always listen to covers from real people (utaites) anyways.

I love how talented this man is.
I don't really understand how to master drum, but just looking at Jerod play this gives me a sense of his talent.
Notice that in this blind cover he perfectly follows the drum and immediately fixes his mistake just by ear.
I love this man
I mean once you just learn how drumming works, and then especially learn how drums are in various genres (knowing how jp songs can be oddballs), you can just tell what kind of common drum patterns there are out there, when the beat might drop in a certain kind of song and in what kind of pattern, as well as how you want to improv it. And that's how you get a seemingly clairvoyant ability to jam to new songs, lol.
So to me, the value is on how he decides his improv will be and the quality when he executes it. Jamming quality, basically.
