The Tungstenslang put in an excellent showing, I'd say all 3 rounds were determined by lucky hits disabling turrets

The loss of firepower that the Tungstenslang suffered in the second battle could have been mitigated had both laser turrets been sharing a Multipurpose Laser block, which could fairly easily be hidden in the AI compartment or a similar box of heavy armor and connected to both laser turrets using transceivers. I know the issue of redundancy has come up regarding self-contained laser turrets in the past, where relying on a single Multipurpose Laser block is undesirable, but in this case 50% of the ship's offensive laser capability was lost by the destruction of the turret cap, and I don't know how the laser output of each system is, but if they have less total output (Combiners, Destabliziers, etc.) than their sustained DPS (Pumps), then you aren't getting your maximum DPS at full health anyway. Even if they are properly balanced for each individual system, combining them into a single system would yield greater burst DPS at the start of a battle before settling into its sustained DPS, and the loss of a turret cap would be less devastating to its offensive capability. The ease of use of self-contained laser turrets could still be maintained, but having them connected to a centralized MPLB would enhance their capabilities in any eventuality except for the loss of the MPLB itself.

To resolve the overlap in nicknames, you can call the Tungstenslang Tustally (TOO-staly) instead of Tistaly (TEE-staly)

I need to build an actual battleship so I can have cool battles like this.

8m 500mm aps does seem to have a use case in my tests at extremely long range, although it is extremely expensive, it turns ships into swiss cheese, but I do still have to test smaller aps guages and lengths at long range.

Crams are absolutely brutal as a bomb system, I usually have just a 3x3x3 area for packing with top AP and then 2 layers of HE at 1800mm (40.2s reload) and its so small, inexpensive to make, and adds extra bottom armor if you have the gauges on the bottom that if you have like 9 of them then you can potentially outright oneshot a lot of crafts with the first salvo!
The HAWA Light bomber I published is a prime example of what I mean although that is a glass cannon considering the limitations of the faction has.. I'm working on my own thrustercraft faction and I'm currently working on a medium bomber which uses this idea and isn't a glass cannon! (Although someone mentioned that my shells are actually 1 size too small so I'll have to update the 3 craft I currently have on the workshop)
Dumping like 120,000 damage onto a crafts top deck does such a stupid amount of damage, and I'm curious to see what would happen to your own ships if you let the HAWA light bomber dump a single of its payload onto your ships! xD

That AI behavior to turn to the other side is incredible

Very impressive indeed! Just goes to show how far you’ve come; you tried exponentially less hard on the tungsten, spent what seems like and order of magnitude less time and 300k less mats and it faired really well. Also crams 🥺, btw I think you shouldn’t so forcefully restrain yourself from using crams, it’s not that serious!

Might want to try larger crams with 10 sec fire rate but like 60ap.
If the crams can get through the armor and fire fast enough they can he useful in disabling the ships systems faster.
The problem is that to get the same rof with aps and crams you need like twice the materials for crams

CRAMs have a maximum AP of 40, and have less damage and material efficency at higher ROF. Rapid fire CRAMs also don't have the shell health to get through active defences, rendering them almost useless.

@@BorderWise12 yeah. I found that to be an issue. Im wondering if you had big crams with high rof. I made an amphi tank for that with max ap (i thought for some reason it was 60) and a large amount of shell health and kinetic damage (i think after like 60k kinetic damage for the shell the ap becomes less relevant because dr can only go so far before the beam health is not enough. Kinda like how applique can be fragile even though it has the same ac as heavy armor i think). I found that so long as you can penetrate the craft deep enough with cram, the filler can be much better at disabling the internals than aps. Problem is, aps can do this 3-4 times faster due to the high rof compared to crams. So I built 2000mm crams with 100k kd,he,frag but with enough packers and compactors to have 10 sec reload time. In this case active defenses should be overwhelmed if you fire a big enough volley. Problem in this case as well is that now my cram guns are 300k mats.
