  • I am really pleased to have this video on youtube. It's one of my favourite multi-movement pieces for Classical Guitar. This is the first movement, Preludio (Saudade) from the great piece La Catedral by Paraguayan Agustin Barrios Mangore, who was perhaps the greatest guitarist composer who ever lived.
When I was becoming more advanced on the classical guitar I heard the third movement and was struck by the excitement and passion it generated within me. I could hear it was virtuosic in nature and I just loved the energy of the piece. I will say more about that in another video. At that point in time I didn't know the whole piece and at university I came to study all three movements for one of my recitals. When I first listened to all three movements I was again struck by the beauty of this work. So I am very pleased to present this Prelude here. The depth of emotion in this prelude, as well as the ingenuity of the composition is exquisite. I do hope you enjoy listening to it and let it touch your soul.
This piece was recorded recently at Rokit Studios in West London. The recording and video engineering was done by Mark Rose.
The guitar I used is a 2011 Filipe Conde FP14 NA CW, made in Madrid.
