This video inspired me to start putting work into HG kits. Usually I’m not a fan of them but you turned this Zaku nobody ever talks about into a masterpiece
one extra beginner tip: when doing the second cutting (after snip from runner). arrange the cutter position to be on the same alignment as the pieces itself, that way it would leave a lesser marks and damage to the plastic, which can discourage from going to further steps(yes later process can rectify it, but less-is-more should be the way for beginner-friendly). amazing tutorial as always!~ ❤❤
@@saleen12 Cut along the "widest" thinner part of the sprue gate...rather than cutting through the thicker part. Less material to cut, leaves less damage to the part.
I just started Gunpla a month ago with HG Evangelions. I was absolutely convinced I would never put in the effort to customize these but after watching your video, I'm inspired!
Yes ! I absolutely love using gemstone/rhinestone and the like for mono eyes on my kits. It's such a cheap and easy way to get a fantastic looking effect, I'm surprised you don't see more people talking about it
@@arnogiessen9762 You can try searching up paper craft rhinestones or rhinestones in general. The ones I ended up getting were originally for paper crafts and they have an adhesive back, so all you have to do is peel it off the sheet and stick it on. I'd recommend getting one that comes with assorted sizes so you can get the one that fits your kits the best
welcome back! this is a great video I will definitely refer to often and also send to my friends. If I may mention one thing, though, it's that there was a very large and almost overwhelming variety of specific tools for specific jobs which can be hard to get for some people, or that many tools can just be out of the budget range for a beginner. Since this is a series aimed for beginners looking to up our game, it would be great to see cost saving techniques that achieve similar results. Thanks for the content and great builds, I cant wait to see this series continue!
I agree, panel liners, decals and top coat from spray cans is decently beginner friendly enough, but stuff like airbrushes and high end scribing tools feels like a fairly big investment to make for a beginner
@@taizheyuan3788 building your first gunpla, beginner friendly, well that was a lie. You'll need just some glue, sanding sponges, scribing chisel, oh don't forget your airbrush and compressor! masking! decals!.....boy, that escalated quickly...
Eventually I'll have the time and equipment to work on the kits I've purchased. This definitely gives me some confidence that even basic stuff can look awesome with a little bit of practice.
It was great to see a clean straightforward build. With school going, I haven't been able to make any videos or build for that matter. Nice work as always man.
The Zaku II F2 is easily one of my favorite HG kits. It was really nice to see the panel line scribing done on a kit I am familiar with. The panel lining here isn't anything ultra elaborate, but the results honestly rival a lot of MG kits. I love the HG range and it's cool to see what you can do with them, seeing as the kits themselves are fairly cheap.
Gran Turismo vibes for gunpla. Excellent. I would mention that it might be a good idea to gloss top coat prior to panel lining and such depending on the paint so there aren't any crazy reactions or bleeding. This really drives home that patience is the key to making something beautiful❤ I lack that trait sometimes because I enjoy moving to the next thing sooner rather than later so it's hard for me to slow down and dig into the details.
From what I have noticed, what tends to make for a really good beginner's customization kit is one that is simple in design to begin with, and also one that can be fairly affordable. The Entry Grade Gundam, most High Grade UC Zakus (Origin ones won't work as well), HG GMs, or, as a slight personal favourite simple design for me... Core Gundams and the PLANETS system, tend to make for a fairly decent starting point with customization work. That being said... what also helps at times can be having a proper plan going into the design process. One also shouldn't be afraid of making mistakes, as that can as a result stifle one's ability to really learn. I will very likely be utilizing this video when it comes to eventually making a proper custom, so that I can bring the best out of mine, but for now, the best thing I can do is watch and learn. Kudos for the amazing Zaku 2 F2 build!
LOVE IT!!! Love all the color combos and using that chisel makes a HUGE difference in the end result!!! All the added decals really adds some extra punch to the final build too! I will have to look out for those as well.
I always enjoy watching your videos. You are a master at the craft of Gunpla customization, you’re very thorough and pay attention to details. I especially like the way you apply waterslides, peeling the decal off the paper after soaking and rubbing the back of it against the decal solution brush, I’ll be sure to try that, because putting the solution on the model first causes the sol to dry quickly, or make the decal too wet and then the decal wrinkles and breaks… Your skills are very admirable and you make customization look very easy. Thank you for another chill video
Dude the finish on your builds are what make them so damn good. You really inspire me to get the same quality in building gundam. I've only started recently into building gunpla, bought a HG unicorn gundam destroy mode limited base in Osaka.
Putting the patience to transform a simple HG into something so crazy is mind boggling. BTW, the part of the masking is terrific! I haven't got such patience! thanks for such video
welcome back! watching this video make me want to start everything from the basic, sometimes I just focus on kitbash but not focus on small detail that make the kit looks more perfect. love your build, can't wait the sinanju👀
Watched that video a few times and absolutely love it. Currently working on my first Zaku and he's gonna be my first costum too! Wanna do the same steps, I'm very excited! Thanks a lot for this :)
thank you. I really love this video, It make me remember how many basic step that I already forget in many years. Happy to have this video in my save list.
Only kit I've fully painted and water slide was a HG Gouf Custom. I never panel lined it though cause never had any luck with my Tamiya panel liner working right.
Cutting the female peg will also help with assembly when you might have layers of paint on a peg. If you have to appy force on a part your more likely to impress a finger print into the paint. Nothing ruins a paint job more than a finger print in it.
Great idea for a series but maybe try to remember beginners done have more than basic tools. Chisels, drills, chamfer bits, people probably don’t have. What can be done with a kit and very basic tools and processes would be great. That said thanks for the video. Love your work.
Welcome back. Your videos has always been motivating to me. Awesome tutorial video. Looking forward to more of such tutorial videos. Thanks for sharing the techniques involved, more of such techniques sharing would definitely benefit beginners like me.
Great video, your tutorials (along with your customs) are the best. I have a suggestion for a next tutorial : could you explan in details what is a mist coat and a heavy wet coat ? The differences between them and the process regarding the type of paint (laquer or acrylic) ? Anyways, thanks again, and so good to see you back !
the final result at the end practically looks like a 3d render, incredible
This video inspired me to start putting work into HG kits. Usually I’m not a fan of them but you turned this Zaku nobody ever talks about into a masterpiece
Imo the HG Zaku is one of the better HG kits, can't beat a classic.
Get an HG of all the classics, and the latest versions of them. They are usually suppppper perfect bcus bandai invest so much into HGs
Blew my mind doing the decals like that. Setting the brush upside down and just touching it with the decal in the tweezers. Genius XD

I don't follow. What do you mean alignment
