  • Matt Lindland used his Greco-Roman clinch in MMA for Dirty Boxing techniques and upper body wrestling takedowns. In this breakdown, we examine and analyse these clinch striking, wrestling control and takedown tactics.
    Matt Lindland did actually release a book called "Dirty Boxing for Mixed Martial Arts: From Wrestling to Mixed Martial Arts" although it only has one chapter dedicated to dirty boxing techniques. The book really gets its name from the clothing line Matt had at the time called "Dirty Boxer". The majority of the book is focused on his wrestling style. With that being said as far as MMA wrestling books it does have to be one of the absolute best available and I would still highly recommend it if you can find it for a decent price.

    Great breakdowns always, maybe make a video about Matt huges and how combine folkstyle wrestling with bjj

    • @kallepikku4991
      @kallepikku4991 4 роки тому +2

      Matt Hughes combined his amateur wrestling background with submission wrestling which he learned from his coach Pat Miletich. He never did bjj. He has mentioned these in numerous interviews.
      There was some strange rumour going around bjj circles for years that Hughes was "one of us", which was most likely started by Joe Rogan's off-handed comment that Hughes is "black belt level" fighter.

    • @oneguy7202
      @oneguy7202 4 роки тому +1

      @@kallepikku4991 pat mieletich is a 2 degree bjj BB so huge learnt bjj not catch wrestling or Luta livre. But yes wrestling with submissions and guard are very close to Luta livre and bjj no gi should called Luta livre

    • @kallepikku4991
      @kallepikku4991 4 роки тому +1

      Miletich got that black belt years later as a extra marketing tool. Matt Hughes had fought already over 20 fights by then.
      Miletich himself has often called his style "wrestling with submissions" (he probably would've called it Catch wrestling if he knew the word exists). He didn't adhere to any of the principles of jiu-jitsu which were prevalent at the time such as guard pulling and "guard is neutral" ideology, opting instead always stay on top position, or if grounded try to get up as soon as possible instead of playing guard. Even after his black belt he immediately started calling it Miletich Jiu-jitsu (MJJ), to differentiate it from BJJ.
