H/H match update: ... ~~~Today's action: He won two games and $950, and now our champion is defeated. Let's see if our new champion has better luck with the Super-Match... *Today's audience match question: "Piper________"* (My thoughts: Laurie, ???, ???) I'm stumped. Name questions are the worst for me. The celebs: Charles (Laurie), Loni via Charles (Cub), Marcia (of Hamelin) - Now I don't feel so bad since the panel (and Gene) didn't come up with much either. But at least the top answer seems obvious... The choice: Laurie The answers: Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers (!), Cub, Laurie Second day in a row Chuck gave the top answer! And... It's wheel time! And it's... Marcia! (The wheel chose her once before, in 1276.) Not a double today though. Stats: This will be Marcia's third attempt ever. She hasn't yet scored her first H/H match. More Stats: 10 of the past 17 H/H questions have resulted in a match (58.8%). For the entire Star Wheel era, there have been 27 matches in 55 attempts (49.1%). Panel comparison: Gary has matched 5 of his 8 attempts (62.5%), Charles has matched 37 of his 74 attempts (50.0%), Brett has matched 35 of her 79 attempts (44.3%), McLean Stevenson has matched 1 of his 2 attempts, Marcia Wallace has had 2 attempts without a match yet, and Loni Anderson has yet to be selected for a head-to-head question. *Today's H/H question: "_______Your Ears"* (I'm torn between two good answers - Do I sound like Brett there? - First, "Prick Up Your Ears" which was a common phrase even before the 1987 film. But the phrase is an odd one, and people often say it wrong anyway. My second choice is "Clean Our Your Ears" which I think every mother in the 1970s said to her kids countless times. On second thought, it was probably "Clean your ears out." I still want to say it though, so I will. Clean out your ears.) Our new champion seems to have thought of something right off. Marcia looks up at the top tier for inspiration, then writes something that she doesn't seem totally happy with. She shows it to her colleagues, shakes her head, and files the card. It's funny how Marcia says it's her "first time in this capacity" since obviously it isn't. Episode 1267 wasn't all that long ago... Our champion says she couldn't think of anything but "Pierce" you ears, which sounds like a darned good answer to me. The audience reaction is about a 4 on the positivity scale, but Marcia's immediate reaction indicates no match today. (It looks too honest to be an act.) Marcia went for "Wash" - a variation on the theme I had. No H/H match today. ~~~Here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she or he has "retired" from the show and their H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 matches in 4 attempts). Joyce Bulifant - 80.0% (4 matches in 5 attempts). (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 matches in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 62.5% (5 matches in 8 attempts). (TIE) Charles - 50.0% (37 matches in 74 attempts). (TIE) Betty - 50.0% (23 matches in 46 attempts). Fannie - 48.6% (18 matches in 37 attempts). (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 matches in 18 attempts). Brett - 44.3% (35 matches in 79 attempts). (*)Richard - 42.5% (373 matches in 878 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 matches in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1297, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. *Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. (These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. Note: There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036.)
Two observations: love the director on this show. Keeping it on Gary - even at the end - so LOL. Other thing.. funny how Loni's blouse got buttoned as the show went on. Smooth Stevenson.
@@darreljones8645 Loni did one as well...as a matter of fact, it was used as a prop when she made an appearance on a David Copperfield special...ua-cam.com/video/bv5f7Nto_t0/v-deo.html
Charles thinks he's funny everytime he says, "I think this is a match, I really do." And it was at first, but after the first 20 times, he got SOOOOO annoying. (on a more positive note, that bit with Gary was funny)!
Just like Brett with the Encino motel bit. Or how she'll hand back the card to Gene and say, "Take this to the cashier." They get old after awhile. Maybe because I've been binge watching!
Loni Anderson has a lot of class. 🥰
I really liked Marcia Wallace and Gary and Loni Anderson
Gary really hid his hand all the time. Interesting to see it knowing now his situation.
This is one episode I remember watching when it first aired!
Loni is VERY underrated...as with the entire cast - she was great on WKRP.
Underrated? NO. Overrated Yes.
She's Miss Jennifer Marlowe on WKRP IN CINCINNATI on CBS-TV From 1978 to 1982.
@@benhallums146 When was she overrated? lmao

They sold millions of those Farrah posters back then.I have my copies here somewhere.I think I still have Loni's somewhere too.
That is weird that Noone said boobs, as if it was on purpose.
Radar was way to funny...i couldn't stop laughing😂😂😂
tim marshall Radar and Klinger were my favorites . MASH had great writers!👍❤️😄
Dorothy Coker I liked mash too but have to say I’m a love boat fan
Also, Gene opens the door.
So am I assuming that the Match Game 78 is continuing on your channel please advise thank you
Mr. Hahn COMMENTATOR I might just delay uploading and take a mini week break and wait for 1301 to begin next Wednesday
@@MatchGameProductions : Thank you. Will be watching 👍
ROFL! Another fine episode! ROFL! Poor Gene had to open his own door to come on the set.. ;0) ROFL! Love ya Marcia! ;0) The former Gene Rayburn????
Piper Cub.
There’s Gene with his hair fetish again
Nowadays: Piper "Perabo" 😏
But, I DID think of Piper "Laurie", too! 😉
I had a thought after Richard Dawson left why did they not ask /gary /burgoff to take over ?
Louis Tenore he was approached but was too busy with MASH and his new frozen yogurt company he formed.
@@MatchGameProductionsthank God for that. He wouldn't have been a good replacement IMHO.
McLean was not funny no matter how hard he tried. Poor guy.
He was funny with his aw shucks, self deprecating schtick, but that wore thin pretty fast … as did the continual comments about Loni.
Charles thinks he's funny everytime he says, "I think this is a match, I really do." And it was at first, but after the first 20 times, he got SOOOOO annoying.
