That's my uncle. A great man with a legacy to live on with and Im very proud of where I come from and my Seaberry family. We represent strength, love, determination, hope, values and without God, we would be nothing. I miss and love you uncle
is he no longer with us? i just happened to catch this video today, he seems like THE coolest guy ever. so much history in his eyes and in the walls of his establishment. unbelievably cool
Up until maybe thirty years ago such back road juke joints were numerous in the south. An old wood frame house off a dirt road far out in the woods that had been turned into a club.
I’ve been here and I gotta tell you,,, it’s better than any coliseum concert you’ll ever go to. You can feel the birthplace of the blues almost like a drug. It’s exhilarating.
I'm a 30 year old black man and let me say it is such a pleasure to see another black man also has the same disdain for rap music as I do myself and I grew up in the generation that created hip hop that trashy ghetto horrible and embarrassing culture
When I was young, 20's mainly, I got myself a motorcycle and one of my favorite things to do was just get on my bike and ride. No destination, no planned route, just keep taking one road after another and see where I ended up. I remember being near the Alabama/Georgia border and saw some cars parked down this dirt road. I turned off my bike and removed my helmet and could hear music. So, I decided to stop. It was one of these juke joints. The fact I was the only white person there was a little strange at first, but once I saw that they treated everyone the same I relaxed and enjoyed myself. A small blues band was playing and the owner came out to ask if I wanted a drink. Sure. The only thing he had was 'shine. $1 for a shot. He set down the shotglass and poured it to the brim. Smooth. He placed his finger over his lips and went Shhh... with a smile. I trust he wasn't a "licensed" booze dealer. But after that, I specifically hunted juke joints on my travels. I found some real gems. A few I could tell I wasn't welcome and just left. But most were just fine.
It’s still here. I live about 1/4 mile from it. Po’ Monkey passed away a few years ago. His family are selling the contents, but the building will eventually be turned into a “museum” of sorts. It’s a registered landmark, so the building itself will be here for a long time.
Mr. Willie seabury 100% ole schooled and a true Country Boy when he use the word britches😁 you can tell that he got Southern Roots that is not going away as long as we are aging we know we not going to be around much longer but poor monkeys Lounge will be with the support of the state of Mississippi and thank you mr. Seabury for being a big supporter of the Blues and I agree with you rap music have destroyed the ear and mind of young black America even some old people today
He said no baseball caps turned sideways. Those wannabe thugs have their way of wearing their caps. They know it and he knows it and he doesn't want that mess in there. That's why he stays busy with people coming to his club who have a genuine appreciation for the blues and know how to have a good time without a bunch of foolishness.

That house/shack looks like my Grandparents first house in Shaw, MS. Except they had a big screened in porch, fancy...
