Thank you TONS!!! After struggling with the poorly written instructions, my wife said "What about UA-cam", ha ha once I found your video, I threw out the instructions and quickly finished. Great job!
I'm putting mine up today. Doing it myself. Also I'm in a wheelchair. One more end to go. I should have filmed it. Bu to late. To get the middle tarp on I bunched the ends together and tied a rope and through it over the frame. Then I pulled it over and spread it out.
GREAT PRESENTATION.. clear instructions... I got a used one... no instructions... and with your video... we set it up in 4 hours.. Thanks for all your hard work!
This is the most helpful video I have watched on this installation. I actually had the idea of doing the tarp exactly as you did it, but I'm glad I saw you do it first. Lol. Thank you so much, for this!
THANK YOU FOR A GREAT VIDEO. I watched it and followed what you did and it went together perfectly. THANK YOU AGAIN. IT TOOK ME 2 HOURS TO PUT TOGETHER BY MYSELF. VERY HELPFUL WAY TO PUT THE COVERS ON.
Great video. Thank you! I am about to start assembling mine and your tips have given me the courage to try to do it myself since I don't have anyone readily available to help me.
thank you for the comment and for watching .mine is still working great. you should check out my update vid on a couple things i did for snow load if you have snow where you are .
Thanks....I really struggled with the annoying tie down ratchets, but you demonstrated the correct way to feed the strap through. FYI for others, the instruction are WRONG--do it the way this guy does it!
Awesome instructions. Thank you. You helped me overcome some hurdles I had while putting my carport together. I thought I had to put the polls through the tarp... Glad to find out that I didn't.
Appreciate your video. Watching a bunch of these to gather up hard learned tips and tricks as I have to do mine. Liked the idea of putting cover on before raising it up. Much easier to minimize ladder time. Thanks
This was great instructions, I am a 59 old female and put it up solo. I have to square it up and tie it down yet. I did drag out my 5 lb free weights and temporarily weighted the cables so not to pull out.
Thank you very much for the video. I wish I would’ve watched before I started cause as usual HF’s directions were vague at best and I really appreciate the tips.
Cool thanks for the tips starting it in the morning.fitting the end tarps first will be a big help especially if i self tap the frame together so i dont have to pull back apart.thanks again for the advice on these issues.
Omg i did everything the hard way but i built a floor i can drive a car on so i thought just throw the instructions out. Cant be that hard right. I ended up taking it apart a couple time and now i have to do it again because i put all tarps through the poles. Now i see they are supposed to rap around the pole. My thought prosess was this will make the tarp tight and its just better without tugging on a tarp with a ratchet strap but i was wrong. Thanks for the video and every one of your tips are spot on. Im not an angree person but putting that top tarp on by myself with just a slight breeze, lets just say i had to take a walk and calm down because it came off 3 different times. Great video and great advice. Wish i had seen it before it was already done. Good job man. I laughed my butt of when you said dont do it in the wind.
Thank you for a VERY informative & detailed video concerning the assembling of the Harbor Freight 10' × 17' portable garage!! I really appreciated what you did. It really helped me out a lot! ...VERY NICELY DONE!
Thank you so much, I had lost the directions and although mime was different with different part numbers, I was able to figure out what was what with your video to help. Got it up by myself in a half-day! I will be adding extra anchors as well.
I have noticed that a lot of people complain that it only will last a couple of years but personally to me thats not to terrible bad for the price its not like your buying a 25000 dollar gerage that you would expect to get 40 years from its less than 200 bucks id say 2 to 3 years is a deal people.😜👍
YEAH BUT I USE MINE TO KEEP A GOLF CART AN CART CHGR AND TRASH CANS BECAUSE I DO YARDS AND SNOWPLOWING OUR DRIVEWAY TOO YEAR-ROUND MY BACK SHEDS FULL NOW, I HAVE TO GET ANOTHER 1
Good video and you explained a lot of useful tips. Just put my portable garage today and ran into a couple issues, but nothing too tough. I had to put mine on a 2x4 frame because the ground wasn't level at all and I didn't want to tear up my yard by shoveling. By the way, I thought ropes were included in the box, but according to the parts list they are not included, luckily I had some on hand that worked fine. Going to go back tomorrow and add two pieces of 1" pvc on the front and rear tarps to help hold the flaps down. May also add a few conduit braces across the eaves for additional roof load bearing for snow. Overall it was pretty easy, but the hot sun made it harder.
Can someone please tell me the exact measurements of the center and side roof poles (#3 and #4) Mine Arent Labeled with a random magic marker # on some and came Not in separate bags! I did not open till Well after 90days so I'm screwed! I just need the poles lengths so I can get started! I have 31poles but 8dif lengths! Plz help
@@scottbeverly728 thanks! Yes I definitely have a messed up set. I only have 2 3way connects 2 4way for middle only! All roof side connections I dont have. They only gave me 8 2way clamps and 8 1way clamps . after 8hrs of guess work with the 31poles, I have basic structure up but None of the 2 long sides, on roof piece connected. Shitshow!
@@kevinallen3588 The horizontal side rails measure about 65 1/2 inches long, the top center horizontal rails measure about 65 inches long. I say about because I was measuring them by myself in the dark with a flashlight because I damn near forgot about doing it earlier today while the sun was out. I measured the side rails that were near the top of the sides, not the bottom rails that fit into the cross connectors. Hope this helps you out.
Thanks....I just bought one and will be installing in a week....by myself. I am in Northern Wisconsin where we get a lot of snow....but mine will be under the shelter of tall pine trees. I am sure I will come up with some other ideas on how to assemble but your vid helps. I have lots of washers!!!! and I will be looking back to it as I go along. I am going to install the top after so the wind does not take it away from me..but will install the end tarps as you did...
It might not look the best but I duct taped most joints. It really helped keep it together bcuz I put it up by myself and hopefully it will help keep it together when these storms roll thru
Double the use: We got one for over our swimming pool and just brush off the snow. It was not quite big enough in the 10' direction, so we put 2 planks on the pool cut a hole in 4 square pieces of scrap wood (glued in place) to hold the ends of 4 of the vertical (top sections only). We then anchored the tarp in that section to the ground with heavy stakes. 2nd use: We removed the mid section of the tarp, put the side, bottom pole sections, put deer netting over the side framework, we removed the zippered end section, dragged it over 2 of our blueberry bushes and replaced the end section (zippered section). Birds aren't happy!
Put pool noodles on your frame keeps from chafing tarp. Double tarp it will last longer put augers on outside throw rope over top will hold down in wind
I would like to mention to people considering this garage is you can buy replacement ends and top tarps from Harbor Freight, add /parts to the URL to get there. The tarp top last about 2 years, then water will start coming thru.
I love your video. I wish it would have been up when we done ours. Make sure you know the model number so you can replace the canopy without buying the whole thing. Just go through Harbor Freight. I have had mine about 4 years and this wind we had the last couple days caused the top to rip so I am going to be ordering a new top for $75 and have no waste.
It appears you can now order select replacement parts! Search “CoverPro portable garage” on google or harbor freight’s website (make sure you select the 10 x 17 version) scroll down to “Replacement Parts in Stock”. There’s a number you can call, along with a PDF of the parts you can order! Hope this helps :)
