03:03 Fascinating, I was listening to a lecture on the radio last night about how vivid false memories can created by post-factual suggestion. Maureen O'Brien is likely not wilfully lying here. Rather, her brain has spontaneously generated a memory to reconcile this apparent evidence of her having been on the dunes that day with her internal sense of reality.
Fantastic! The model Dalek being used in Masterplan was a real revelation to me. It's great to think that even with nearly 56 years of history, new information is coming to light. Thanks.
8:50 Imagine that Dalek attending conventions and doing stage talks: "When I got the job, I realised I had big boots to fill, so to speak... (person's name) was a lovely director... I remember, I had to be buried in sand, for a certain amount of time. I thought, once they'd placed me within it, they would bugger off and let me suffer, just for a laugh, you know...But luckily that wasn't the case..." (Talks about The Chase again) "Bill wasn't quite talkative to us, off set. Apparently he was a bit miffed, due to the fact William Russell and Jacqueline Hill were leaving. Of course, he worked with them ever since the show started, and he didn't like goodbyes, so..." (Talks about Power Of The Daleks) "Pat was lovely to work with. Not only was he a breath of fresh air (you know, because of Bill being Bill), but he was such a delight!" "Genesis Of The Daleks is No.1 ... Not just for many fans, but it was the dog's bollocks for me, mainly because it was the highlight of my acting career! Not only did I have lines to say, but I lead a revolution, so to speak! And even better, I gave the order to exterminate Davros!"
I was fortunate enough to have gained Derek as a very close friend. Sadly, due to coronavirus, I havr not seen hime for many months. A fine gentleman, as well as a design genius.
An absolute pleasure to watch - as a new Dalek hand I was educated and yet not terribly confused and I imagine that even the hoariest veteran sat up to see the remarkable photograph from "The Daleks' Master Plan". Thank you so much.
Wonderful documentary of a small part of Dalek history, it's really interesting to see how Dalek props were used and re-used during the early days of the programme and I'm glad that some of these Daleks still exist today!
Great video -very informative and made with care. I love anything to do with classic Who (Hated the modern version). When I was young in the eighties my brother got hold of a wooden shell of a full size Dalek that his friend was getting rid of. It had no appendages but I loved it being in our back garden. Unfortunately my Dad wanted us to get rid of it (eyesore or issue with splinters, who knows) and when we didnt get rid he chopped it up with an axe.Happy Days
Fascinating stuff. It's good to know that the model still exists in good condition. I doubt it would have survived had the BBC paid Bill Roberts "enough"!
I had intended to only listen to this here in the workshop whilst making the remaining 80 rivets and thereby finishing this miniature armour... But your film is just too interesting! Sod it, why fight it... I am going to open the biscuits and write the morning off. Thank you for nothing... Subscribed. 🎯🚀
Excellent series of documentaries. Those covering the sixties are almost the superb magazine series "Nothing at the End of the Lane" in video form! :-)
It would have been a series 2a land rover rather than the series 3 from the '70s though. Sorry, obsessed with series land rovers (and Daleks) lol. p.s. I've seen the American guy driving that series 3 and I love that video too. Fantastic work and research! It's bizarre that the model Dalek looks far more screen accurate on the original recording than it is now.
Loved this. Can’t wait for the rest. If you ever needed a narrator... please let me.. let me! 😊😊😊 (Not that there’s anything wrong with the narration, you understand...)
Thank you for going to all the trouble to prepare this excellent documentary for us old school fanboys🤓. I'm subscribing so that I don't miss the next one.
When I first read about this, I thought, how geeky. But now I have watched the video it is one of the most interesting things I have seen on youtube in months. I dont know why, perhaps it is the nostalgia and the archive clips and the fact I grew up watching Doctor Who and always wanted a full size Dalek. This is amazing stuff and I am going straight to episode 2!
Superb work, I could watch this stuff for hours! I only wish the BBC would throw a huge amount of money at you so you can produce your own lavishly illustrated book!
Interesting that the Dalek that was buried in the sand still has a piece which survives, despite being cut in half to be a display Dalek at exhibitions like Llangollan.
I only saw The Chase for the first time a few years ago and I thought the Dalek coming up through the sand was awesome! Many thanks for this great video.
Ahhh! New Daleks Master Plan photo! Brilliant video, can't wait to see more :)
Thank you Josh! That means a great deal to us coming from yourself! :)
Loved this. Glad to hear the model survives and is loved and cared for by its owner.
It’s an amazing story!
I'm gonna watch-em all. A Terry Nation army couldn't hold me back.

Benjamin Hutchings Wonder what he must have thought of Destiny of the Daleks.
@@rayvenkman2087 I wonder what he would have thought of the New Series Daleks or the New Paradigm Daleks...
LOL!!! Good stuff!
I was fortunate enough to have gained Derek as a very close friend. Sadly, due to coronavirus, I havr not seen hime for many months.
A fine gentleman, as well as a design genius.
I know I'm quite randomly asking but do anybody know a good website to watch new movies online ?
An absolute pleasure to watch - as a new Dalek hand I was educated and yet not terribly confused and I imagine that even the hoariest veteran sat up to see the remarkable photograph from "The Daleks' Master Plan". Thank you so much.

Excellent work!
Fantastic! Really interesting stuff, especially about the model
Excellent series of documentaries. Those covering the sixties are almost the superb magazine series "Nothing at the End of the Lane" in video form! :-)
Thank you. Being compared to Richard’s magazine series is high praise indeed! 🙂
It would have been a series 2a land rover rather than the series 3 from the '70s though. Sorry, obsessed with series land rovers (and Daleks) lol. p.s. Thank you John!
They aren't small amounts for back then are they? £50 sounds like nothing now but I am sure back then it was a good few weeks average pay.
Back then, it was. Plus Britain was still using the old Currency system as the modern one wasn't introduced until 1971.
@craig stephen :)
Millionaires back then must have been living on another planet as things would have been laughably cheap to them.
£50 in 1965 is equivalent to £996 in 2019.
The average monthly wage was £69.
You could buy a house for £90!
I want an extended version of the Terry Nation Army theme
Brilliant!
This is amazing! (And thanks for giving me that information on the shoulder ovals over on PDF :) )
Thank you and no problem! :)
Looks great. Can't wait for the next one :)
Working on it right now!
Wow! Great work!
Nice one, you got a mention in this months SFX mag in the UK BTW! :D In the letters page for the staffs rants/raves section.
Brilliant! Thank you for letting us know!

Shawcraft certainly knew what they were doing!
Interesting that the Dalek that was buried in the sand still has a piece which survives, despite being cut in half to be a display Dalek at exhibitions like Llangollan.
Brilliant documentary I have some great photos if interested from years back
Thank you John! Yes please, we always like to see new pictures! :) Our email address should be on the About Us section of our channel.
Who else smiles when they find out the dark survived all that and is still around today.
I grew up watching doctor who and i love the daleks
Daleks on the beach. And no sofas to hide behind!
I only saw The Chase for the first time a few years ago and I thought the Dalek coming up through the sand was awesome! Many thanks for this great video.
Thank you!
Tremendous!
I laughed at the JNT memory cheats bit.
Great video! Where do you find the camera scripts and other documents?
We were very grateful to Jonny Morris and Richard Bignell who let us have some stuff related to those scenes.
My grandfather saw the first daleks going down Cardiff high street
Wow very interesting
11:49. That voice sounds familiar. Is the character Bret Vyon played by Nicholas Courtney? Later Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart of UNIT.
That’s right!
I'd love to find out about the rubber crushing Dalek from Invasion of London.
Impressive.
Lovely just discovered you....🐴
