No that’s correct. His seam orientation is sinker but it moves like a 4-seam! Very weird and probably helps the pitch be effective in some way we can’t really quantify
Don’t think I understand the question. “Make up for it” as in … still have a high arm slot which allows them to backspin the ball? If that’s what you’re asking, Shota Imanaga is a great example. Shorter pitcher, high slot but low release
@LanceBroz it's a 10 team league on ESPN with all the default settings. No non-roster/inactive spots. I'd have to drop a pitcher. I could probably hold him instead of one of my relievers, though.
@@LanceBroz Since Skenes just got called up, I have NA spot in my league. What pitcher prospect should I stash next who's going to get called up in 2024? Cade Horton, Robert Glasser, and Jack Leiter are already owned.
HAA just doesn't seem as important overall, but the general idea is that sharper angles away from hitters on the outer edge causes more swings. I think it's a pretty unexplored topic on the public side thought. There's a good in-depth here: blogs.fangraphs.com/a-visual-primer-on-horizontal-approach-angle-haa/ I also made a video that touched on it: ua-cam.com/video/qY1IwuLU2jM/v-deo.htmlsi=GT2Xf5VwGJtlNMpe
This is actually next level stuff! Tight
but does paul skenes have that dawg in him?
Now THAT is the question
ask livy
He went to air force
Great video. In one year, do you think you are taking Skenes or Bobby Miller?
Probably Bobby
Think I’m just more comfortable with players who we have MLB data on
Fair question though
3:23 what is josh hader’s fastball movement? just a question
Hader’s release has actually climbed over the last few seasons.
His career average is 96 mph, 18” iVB from a 5.5’ release
@@LanceBroz thanks
Is it really different this year? Might be why he's struggling
I heard somewhere, probably Eno, that Hader has a rising sinker that he throws at the top of the zone??? I have to be saying something wrong.

What's up with Jake Bloss?
He’s got a banger fastball, becoming a dude
Also, that’s like the last player I thought anybody would comment about on this video lol
I am down for this new thumbnail design
👏👏👏
Are there any MLB pitchers that have an average/below average release height but make up for it due to their mechanics or arm slot?

@@LanceBroz Like how you said in the video, Skenes has an average release height, but since he has a sidearm delivery, it makes up for it.
Ahh, I get what you’re saying.
Basically any pitcher that’s tall & sidearm. Eury Perez is probably the poster boy for this imo.
I wonder when he gets the call. I want to make sure I get my hands on him first in fantasy 😂
I would stash now if he was still available (which he shouldn’t be in most formats)

When is his ETA, since the Pirates are a clown ass Franchise?
He’s gotta be up within the next 2 weeks, should already be up right now

Is HAA’s effect on whiffs less understood than VAA or does it just not effect at all?
