  • Changing both air springs at W212 E-Class estate 2016 year model with 157.000 km, that's usually the drive distance they hold over here in cold north with bad roads, collection dust inside the boot cover seems to make small hole at the air spring.
    This is really common issue many have and with these models that's have air springs. This guy had drive so long time with leaky air spring, so everyday compressor run a lot, and the issue with that is compressor got broken also and the main fuse. That's expensive parts you and you can avoid that's fast by changing leaky springs as soon car not hold high after you parked it.
    I heard before also many speaks like this should be hard task and it something you leave to the pro mechanic, I would say if you confident enough to change brake pads and doing service for your car you probably not going to have any issue with this task.
    Thanks to Vigor Air Suspensions for sponsoring this video.

    Thank you for taking the time to film this. This is a huge problem for Mercedes owners that are out of warranty.
    The cost of the dealer is more than the value of the car sometimes.
    Teaching people that this can be done in their garage with minimal tools is awesome for humanity!
    May I suggest also if you own out of warranty Mercedes Benz the youcanic scanner does an amazing job for around $500. The tech support you receive is second-to-none

    a tip from my side, if I may... for those pesky plastic clips from the rear arm plastic cover which holds the spring, press with a 7mm or an 8mm on top of those clips and you'll undo them ASAP.

    Another thing, maybe people know already… when you unscrew the old fitting form the air bag, the air line stays in. You don’t need to cut it to install it on the new air bag. If you look closely it has a small ferrel that you can take apart and slide out the line. When you install the new airbag just push it in and give it a tug to make sure it’s not coming out .

    • @MB212

      That’s correct! That’s also how installed recently.

    Time for this job on mine now. Does this Vigo Spring still hold up well after a year? Do you recommend to use them? Long shipping?

    • @MB212
      @MB212  16 днів тому

      I mean they still rocking since video was shot without any issue and this is in arctic with really cold winter. I honestly surprised they hold on this good, so when now thinking about this and the price I really can’t say is a bad buy. So I can’t say any bad especially due to how cheap price is. Shipping was around 1 week.

  • @fuffoon
    @fuffoon Рік тому

    I suggest using new control arm covers. They are cheap to replace. I had one fall off and it took out the airspring compressor cover on the way. That was also a cheap piece but just extra potential for damage. Some people don't even put them back on but I like to keep it like original.

      My s212 was all so this issue and i choose.....
      Why Arnott?
      Arnott is the global leader in aftermarket air suspension products for your luxury car, truck or SUV. We offer a choice when repairing and replacing your failing air suspension system. After change i have drien 60 000km and soon 2 winter is made too.
      About year ago i wisit Lapland (Finland side) there was about -33 degree air temperature. And I didint get any issue those days there soo...I think these air "springs" are good ones ;).
      So if i have to choose which one...I say orginal or Arnotts.

    Wouldn’t it be easier if you loosened the shock absorber? As I can see on the wear on the old spring, it look like the protection has rubbed on the spring it self and made the leak. That’s some protection 😂

    • @MB212

      The typical diagnostic is that car goes to ground after standstill all from few minutes after turn it off or few hours, usually is the air springs that’s are bad.
