The Mongol Scrush - 16 Pop Scout Rush | Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition

- The classic civ to do a fast scout rush with. The Mongols with their hunt bonus have always been top candidate for fast feudal times and this build shows you just how to take advantage of the civ. While this build is quite lean, it can be adapted to go up at 17/18/19 population as well in order to adjust for the game being played.

Very cool video. I once tried a 15 pop Magyar scout rush but I don't have the skill to optimize it fully. Still managed to attack the enemy before the 10 minute mark with 3 scouts. May seem very trollish but there are several factors that can make it work:
1. Obviously scouts are cheaper with Magyars so that helps take a bit of pressure off the eco
2. Free forging puts considerable pressure on opponent villagers. And since it's free and doesn't require a blacksmith, it also indirectly takes pressure off Magyar eco
3. When I experimented with the build I often sent a villager forward to build the stable close to the enemy - with Magyars you can do that because wolves are not a threat. And since it's such an early up time the villager would have loom already which is enough to fend off a dark age scout. This helps cut down the reinforcement distance and time because the villager made the trip so the scouts don't have to. But you gotta make sure you do that when you're going up and arrive at exactly when you get to feudal. Also don't make the stable too close to the enemy or they rush you down.
4. As a follow-up I'd often I'd build a tower with that forward vill. Fairly easy to get away with when the enemy is distracted by an early scout rush.
It's a build that tries to max out every possible Magyar bonus...well except the +2 LOS to archers but whatever. The results were actually kinda mixed. It felt like too much of my eco was sacrificed for a crazy up time. But as I said before, I feel that it suffers mostly because my lack of skill. I'm convinced better players can get more out of it. It would be interesting if you tried it.
15 pop up as Magyars is definitely very interesting - they have no eco bonuses helping them out in Dark Age, so I'm very curious as to how you are actually getting up that early since that can be applied across all builds (or at least some of the tenants from it). Let me know how you got it done and I'll see if it is viable enough to work :)
@@HumzaCrumza Sounds good. I'll fire up DE later and revisit my build order and post results later.
Sounds very interesting! I would love to see a buildorder there. 3scouts with forging bevore the 10minute mark is insane if the eco behind it is good
@@HumzaCrumza Ok so maybe my memory was a bit ambitious but I wasn't too far off. Fastest up time I managed was 8:15. I believe I can probably improve it by a few seconds, maybe a pro can get that under 8 minutes even. One of the issues is a bit of TC idle time while waiting for food to hit 500.
I build 2 houses and don't build the 3rd one until feudal. Then I task villagers 1-10 on food. I get both boars asap but try to have at least 3 villagers on sheep at all times. Villagers 11-14 go to build a lumber camp. As soon as the lumber camp is up I send one of the food villagers over to berries to build a mill as soon as I have 100 wood.
The mill and 500 food should happen nearly simultaneously around the 6 minute mark. Then put 4 to 5 food villagers on stragglers to gather wood for a barracks. Shortly after the mill villager would start making the trek over to the enemy base which hopefully you've scouted already. Barracks is to be built by a food villager at home soon as you can.
By the time you hit feudal you should have enough wood for a stable and should be close enough to the enemy to plop a stable down. In the meantime at home task a villager to build a house to have pop room. Then after producing 2 scouts you attack. I had 3 scouts attacking by 10:15 but you can already harass the enemy before that with 1 ro 2 scouts.
Once villagers run out of boar/sheep put them on berries. The great part is that you should still have all your berries. The straggler tree villagers start building farms or houses as needed. And like that you slowly build up your farm eco and continue alternating between scouts and villager production. With some luck you'll be hitting the enemy way before they're up and even before loom and whatever eco disadvantage you might have will hopefully have disappeared with vill kills or idle time you'd be causing.
Keep making scouts...the more you make the more you save. Don't be afraid to dip into your advantage so to speak. After 10 scouts you saved 120 food.
It does demand some good scouting of both all your food and the enemy very quickly but I believe it's doable. Like I said, my elo is quite low (I fluctuated between 1150 to 1250) so I'm sure better players can improve upon it. But is it a gimmick or a serious strategy? Well I'm sure it has its applications, and under the right circumstances it can work. The only issue is that the strategy kinda has to be fully committed to almost blindly from the beginning which of course can be problematic.
best build orders videos out there man, i found your channel like 2 years ago, then I stopped playing AOE2, and today i found you again my friend! this is as usefull as it was 2 years ago for me, hope you are doing well
Hey man! Thank you so much for your uploads, been really enjoying your content and learning a lot from it. I love that you're showing specialized build orders for specific civilizations and allocate time for walling, etc. Thanks again!
Anytime! Glad they're helpful and enjoyable for you :)
Great video! Think it's great you mention adapting the build as most of the time this build isn't possible, but when you can do it, it can be really effective. Good work!
Fantastic, as always.
I've been watching a lot of different scout rushes for Mongols and been trying to pick on things but, your build is so perfect with such a good economy to back it up, I can't think of anything. Awesome Man keep it up!! may be 14 pop rather than Viper's 12 pop?
Instablaster...
Nice one, I will try it out
Thx mate, very useful and clear !
Awsome video mate, keep making videos like this!!!
thx for the video!
Damn this is great man! Love the content.
I just discover your Channel and i love your content, i Hope you gonna do a lot of other build order like that
bonal lucas Thanks Bonal! I’ll try to keep it going and diversify it a little
Hello Sir! with the recent most patch (October) hunt is miles away from TC (I tested with a lot of maps and about 60% of the time that is the case), it's pretty hard to follow this build now, any suggestions sir? I love your videos
Lame a boar
what innefficiency is he talking about at 9:23 ? that we have crowded berries and then we send vils from there all the way to the tc to build farms?
very nice, bro... good job...
I would like to add too that any blacksmith upgrades you do get for the scouts will pay off later when you transition to Mangudai. I often FC with archers with Mongols and completely forget to build a stable so this is a great middle ground. Good Guide as always!
wrong, stable upgrade such as bloodline will help Mangudai. not blacksmith upgrades.
@@ThangHuynh10 Cavalry Armor upgrades
@@nymets1104 Why don't you check for yourself. Maybe search on Aoe2 wiki or do open the game and see? You should hold other people's input with a little higher regard, it will help.
@@ThangHuynh10 I am not quite sure what you are talking about. Blacksmith upgrade do in fact affect Mangudai. Stable upgrades as you mentioned also do. I am not disagreeing with you at all but just pointed out that the blacksmith upgrades for scouts can also pay off later with Mangudai. Take care
@@nymets1104 I have spent too much time on this comment. You do the blacksmith cavalry armor upgrade and see if it give mangudai any armor. Cav archers get armor upgrades from archer armor upgrades, not cavalry upgrade. Therefore, your statement of blacksmith upgrade for scout would benefit mangudai is not correct. Ok? why don't you check for yourself.

bro old arabia looks so clean not shitty hills everywhere
New arabia hurts my eyes
this tutorials are from your own game play or from pro players (viper, hera, lierrey, etc) recorded games?
nice work btw
What about Lithaunians? Could they do such a Scrush successfull as well?
Absolutely - one of the best 18/19 pop scout rushes in the game! Making a vid on it relatively soon but just wrapping up the other before posting it
@@HumzaCrumza
i can go trush ww this start?
I would say its better not to go Trush if you go 16 pop. Your economy will be extremely thin and you'd be better off going for an 18 pop up instead
