Great video! We're still quite a ways away from building our farm, but we had been looking at the kune kune as a breed to eventually raise. However, this breed is now looking to be a great option!
We use hog nipples to water our pigs. You can hook them up to a static water source, or just simply a garden hose with a little plumbing. They eventually start leaking too, which is great, as we install them on a tree near their wallow.
Thank you so much for this incredibly valuable information!! We're trying to decide on a breed of pig to raise and your video was very informative! The background music makes it a bit hard to hear what you're saying, but thank you for sharing this great video with us! 💗🐽🐖
@FruitTree you're not kidding. I had to help hold down a 6 month old cause the guy never castrated him at the proper time and it was all me and one other guy could do to hold two legs a piece.
What would you ask for a 8 month old hampshire boar around 300 lbs? Good stock and excellent temperament. I bought 2 of them but now i really only need 1. Im in upstate sc if you know anyone looking for one. Love your channel.
That is a good breed and 300 lbs is a good size boar. Just the meat value alone is worth $300 even with boar taint. If he has a good temprment I'd try to get 400. It depends on your area amd what is in the market.
I greatly underestimated the wait time at the butcher. He did get about 70lbs larger with the wait. Some cuts are tough. I like the fat bit it was more fatty than the duroc we butchered

@@FruitTree Oh no! We ended up using a Deer Processor in his off-season and he had no lead time. I'm sorry that happened! Glad you are enjoying that big boy!
@@FruitTree Awesome - that is our goal the next time around. It was too hot to do it as our first time this past June. We are planning the next litter for a better processing date!
Well that is a good question. You could definitely breed them but will they have a short snout? I think if you did breeding and kept the pigs with trates you like. Eventually you could have a larger pasture pig.
I'm currently breeding mine wirh a mangalitsa and plan on crossing that with a meishan. My goal is a large pasture pig will large litter sizes and good temperment.
@user-wr2mg4mq8n yes I love the animals. Most of these breeds wouldn't even exist if we were vegan. Vegan dite is very unhealthy ( my dite is also) I hate vegetables will a passion. They life choices I've made require me to eat more protein.
Hey there, those are my pigs that you've used in your thumbnail photo. Moving forward you may want to reach out to the farmers whose pictures you've used and ask for permission to use the photos or give credit where it's due.

I loved the added pix! lol. Thank you for the info. We just started raising two IPP feeders x 2 months ago. Loving them so far.
They are great
Thanks for watching don't forget to subscribe
Thanks for the thoughtful and informative video, I learned so much!
Great video, really enjoyed it.
Thanks

Thanks I appreciate the feed back ill work on it.
Our female IPP just had her first piglets. They are kune kune cross but man are they cute.
Lot of good info thank you so much!
No problem I loved doing it
Thanks for this knowledge
Happy to share
thats a beautiful swallow belly mangalitsa in the opening scene. we have quite a few of those currently!
They have some size on them.
Crazy strong hogs

@plainandsimple1 we wouldn't be able too with him
Thank you for information
No problem
Terrific info, super little bits of ironic comedy.
Thank you
Good video,educative
Thanks
Morristown is my hometown, I wonder if the folks you got the IPPs from are still selling them.
They are I think.
If you look at my shorts we just had piglets. Not registered but they look great
@@FruitTree Nice! What area are you in?
I'm near knoxville. Text me 4806001486
How do you like the results of breeding the IPP X Mangalitsa?
Well the jury us still out. That breeding dudnt take however she is definitely pregnant now with our maishan boar

It looks like you also have a Mangalista hog in there too?
We have mangalista, ipp, kunekune, mieshan and some show hogs
Which meat tastes the best? IPP or Kune Kune?
I'm going to taste kk this weekend. I imagine it's more lard.
The absolute best pork hands down is meishan. They are better than mangalitsa
New sub do you have a FB link? I am not that far from you all. I am looking into pastured pigs
Just my personal Facebook

How come you waited so long to process him? 16 mo is very old to process an IPP. Was the meat more fatty or tough?

Question is it possible to breed a male duroc and a female IPP for a bigger pasture pig?

I know a Farmer who is doing this for less fat and more growth. He prefers this to the straight IPP.
@deasunja2fanoving891 yes that's sounds like a good plan.
Look at “Homestead the Hard Way”… He has all the answers anyone needs about swine
I enjoy his knowledge
07:36 🤣
Please don’t listen to this BS
If you want a meat hog get a larger breed… you can feed less and have a bigger pig with less fat time and trouble
Why you killed your homie like that ?
Bacon makes you do crazy things
