Came into the league 20 years ago and won Rookie of the Year, 20 years later riding off into the sunset a World Series Champion. Thanks for the memories #HoustonStrong
No man deserves it more than he does. He’s a Hall of Famer on stats for sure, but his heart alone is what is needed in Cooperstown. Thanks for the years of greatness, Carlos.
Whoa, that's really cool! They also both had a career OPS+ of 119. That also makes it interesting to see where their stats diverged. Beltran: 1,084 BB, .350 OBP, 36 defensive runs saved, 68.0 fWAR. Dawson: 589 BB, .323 OBP, 70 defensive runs saved, 59.5 fWAR. Turns out getting on base is pretty important!
he didn't perform as big a role on the field in the World Series as he did off it. He's a true team leader, and he's going to be sought after by many GM's for their coaching staffs.
His swing was compact and impactful, especially from the left side of the plate. It was one of the most beautiful and effective swings. Considering his defensive ability together, the Mets' rare and relatively successful free-agent acquisition case..
Place he went to with his first trade/free agent move = place he went to with his final trade/free agent move... yeah, it's a stretch, but it's KINDA a circle. ;)
JeremyIsTheBoss he never got credit the way he should have. I️m a Mets fan and was tight seeing the strikeout in 06, but we don’t get to that point without him. He wasn’t highlighted til he was with the Cards.
keep in mind he struck out against Adam Wainwright and that hook of his which also struck out many, MANY other batters, some even better than Beltran, so part of taking that strike is the fact a Cy Young caliber pitcher threw it.
@@JeremyIsTheBoss He had over 400HRs, over 2,700 Hits, over 300SBs, played in 9 xAS games, and is arguably the greatest hitter in postseason history.....and some still don't see him as a HoFer. You better believe this guy was underrated.
In sports when a team loses they loose together. We can easily study through the whole game 7 that year and ask why did certain players ground out, fly out or struck out before the 9th inning from 1 to 9. If they batted better and would of had the lead that game, it would not mattered if beltran struck out. It never boils down to the last batter just because he just so happens to be the last batter. Now I could be wrong about all I said but I feel pretty confident about my point.
@@presenttruth735 Beltran was the only reason the Mets made it to game 7. He absolutely carried us in that series. It took a long time for Mets fans to get over it & realize just how important he was to those teams.
Suppose Chavez didn't make that catch. People probably wouldn't blame Beltran since the Cards would have a bigger lead and he couldn't have walked it off.
Another Mets fan here, I am happy to see Beltran get a ring and he had some great years with us early on but he will forever be remembered for not taking the bat off his shoulder on the 0-2 pitch in the NLCS. He did have a great NLCS but still the thing most of us Mets fans are upset about was that he didn't swing. He also had a terrible injury in San Diego when him and Mike Cameron dove into each other face first. I am happy to see him get a ring but some of his best years were with us(coming off of the huge Houston Postseason coincidentally). All in all I hope he goes into the hall as a Met when his time comes.
As a Giants fan, despite Posey's season-ending injury, lack of hitting in the mid-season and Beltran missed some time, the Giants could have been back-to-back World Series champions. Anything's possible but man, that Buster Posey injury disgusted me the hell out and that changed everything the whole season. Besides, Beltran's a man and he deserved a ring to be one of the best players of his generation. Congrats on the great career!
I remember watching the game with his catch at the top of Tal's Hill. Hard to believe some years later he would win his WS Ring at that same field, playing for the 'stros, without the hill.
Modelled the entire way I played baseball after this guy. From how I swung the bat, to how I played center and dove for sinking line drives, to how I ran the bases, and how I took every single first pitch no matter what lol
Great career by a class act! Been a fan of his since 2004 when he was with the Astros for the first time. I remember getting an autograph as a kid when he played for them. Glad he ended on top!
I loved how he did against Wainwright in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 of the 2006 NLCS. He REALLY drove that ball into the night sky that at bat, and sent everyone home... What's that? Took strike 3 on a curve from Wainwright? Oh, well, never mind. He was a Cardinal killer though in the 2004 and 2006 NLCS, and wouldn't you know that the 2006 NLCS came down to him against Wainwright, and he takes the 3rd strike...
I didn't start following him when he was with the Astros and then came to the Mets. Then I followed him after the Mets here is my only favorite player. And I also like Ray Ordonez
The Executor is that what he is best remembered for? Come on! 1) Why show that on a tribute to him? 2) Wainwright had a great curveball that he and Molina orchestrated.

part of that was Wainwright's curveball, it's pretty damn good, struck out hitters FAR better than Beltran over Wainwright's career, so don't put too much blame on him, even David Ortiz (Big Papi) struck out against Wainwright with that curve.

carlos pena how poetic can baseball be, I was a huge fan when he was in KC as a kid and it was awesome to see him win a title
Cheeeeeeeaaaaaaterssssss
Cheaters lmao
This didn't age well. #Cheaters
John Eliot okay John
Who’s here after Beltran is the Mets 2020 Manager
After it popped up in my recommended videos.
Me
Wasnt this made after he retired ? Or after hired by the Mets?
Ehhh, the UA-cam algorithms brought me here after the cheating controversy.
EG DivergentEnd who is here after he cheated with the Astros to help them cheat their way to a 2017 World Series title
Carlos Beltran...always a fan favorite in Houston.
Pete Pyeatt your forgetting that he was booed by Astro fans very time for signing with the Mets.
Carlos Perez I was being sarcastic, Carlos. I am very aware of the non-stop booing he received.
They were more booing his agent, Scott Boras. But Scott Boras doesn't come to the plate to bat, so... had to boo Carlos Beltran for employing him.
Beltran is a met
No man deserves it more than he does. He’s a Hall of Famer on stats for sure, but his heart alone is what is needed in Cooperstown. Thanks for the years of greatness, Carlos.
Felicidades mi hermano, tremenda carrera!!! Very proud of you man!👍🇵🇷💪
Retired after 20 years and finally going home with a ring.
This didn't age well. #Cheater
El Bicho I mean, he’s still got the ring lol. Nothing really changed but the legacy of the 2017 Astros
Anthony Schorling You think they’re the only ones?
About that lol
Carlos Beltran career stats- .279 avg 435 HR 1,587 RBI 312 SB 2,725 Hits. Andre Dawson career stats- .279 avg 438 HR 1,591 RBI 314 SB 2,774 Hits. Uncanny!
simplygu great comparison!
Wow that’s crazy close

Un caballo del beisbol, orgullo de nuestra isla.🇵🇷💪🙏⚾️
One of the most perfect swings in the game. From BOTH sides
Thanks Beltran for coming back to Houston and getting it done this time for us you deserve it.
he didn't perform as big a role on the field in the World Series as he did off it. He's a true team leader, and he's going to be sought after by many GM's for their coaching staffs.
Disappointing though he could not get 500 homeruns
Yet Pujols Did Which Says Something About Albert Pujols Himself
The way Astros fan booed him every time the Mets visited Minute Maid, my goodness. He played there for 3 months only in 2004.
"Thanks Beltran for coming back to Houston and helping us cheat our way to a WS"
There. Fixed it for ya
Was really happy when he joined the Cardinals. He was one of those guys that always played against us
His swing was compact and impactful, especially from the left side of the plate. It was one of the most beautiful and effective swings. Considering his defensive ability together, the Mets' rare and relatively successful free-agent acquisition case..
He came full circle.. Astros traded for him in 04' and came back in 17'. Leaves the game a Champion! #HOF#HoustonStrong🤘🏼
LucasDan83 full circle would have been with KC Royals
Place he went to with his first trade/free agent move = place he went to with his final trade/free agent move...
yeah, it's a stretch, but it's KINDA a circle. ;)
Only thing they forgot to include is that pesky centerfield camera
Underrated!!!!! Can’t wait to see you in the HOF
underrated? How?

How can people not see him as a Hall of famer?
I can't understand how people dislike Beltran. He was a great Mets player
He was also the biggest advocate for the Astros cheating in the 2017 season so there's that. I don't hate him but I can see why people could.
He was the ringleader of the Astros cheating scheme! That's why!
Congrats Carlos Beltran for an amazing year and great memories
Came here after the Houston astros were said to be cheating
Jeez MLB, thanks for all of those Royals highlights!
KC Royals, Astros, Mets , SF Giants , Cardinals, Yankees,Rangers
only the Astros and Cardinals got him into the World Series, so he has 2 rings now, an NLCS ring for 2013 and a WS ring for 2017
.
1:20 still get chills from that
That interview at the end is mockery to all baseball fans with what we know now...
As an Astros Fan I am happy he won a ring with us
My favorite Beltran was wit the Mets !
Present Truth7 yeah when he struck out looking in gm 7 of the 2006 NLCS against the Cardinals

#1: Cheating with the Astros

You need to add June 27th, 2004, Astros at Rangers, Beltran had the best robbed homerun of all time.
Orgullo Boricua!🇵🇷
I remember watching the game with his catch at the top of Tal's Hill. Hard to believe some years later he would win his WS Ring at that same field, playing for the 'stros, without the hill.
This video is missing when he cheated his way into his only world series ring
that's not his only ring you idiot
Modelled the entire way I played baseball after this guy. From how I swung the bat, to how I played center and dove for sinking line drives, to how I ran the bases, and how I took every single first pitch no matter what lol
I still feel that if Beltran would have stayed in Houston he would not have had to wait for his 1st World Series until 2017.
Yep, 2005 WS would have gone a bit differently than 4-0 White Sox with him in the lineup.
g fox it might not have gone 4-0 in 2005. The Astros could’ve won all four games then. But yes, the story could’ve been different.
At 0:14 he hits a left handed homerun with a righty helmet, you gotta love it
We’ll miss you Beltran
LEGEND
Hall of Famer..Great player and played the game right.
Didn’t age well in 2017
You forgot him electronically stealing signs
Miss the man
I heard Carlos Beltran favorite song is "Bang Bang" from Cher.
Now he’s one of the main culprits for cheating on the 2017 Astros 😂
He is the chief culprit.
It’s crazy that he hit his 200th with the Mets and his 400th with the Yankees
bring those black jersey's back.
He should go into the Hall of Fame as a Royal or Met
Astro
Good for him to retire as a champion.
iamhungey12345 this didn’t age well
Legend
Love it. But I didn't have a favorite player until I watched him play baseball
Mets fans really dont understand how good he was for us, especially giving us all of this from the CF position.
Matthew Antis best centerfielder we Mets fans ever had and doesn’t nearly get the credit he deserves.
Great ballplayer and future HOFer!
Did anyone notice that on the second homerun clip Beltran was wearing a right handed helmet and covered the wrong ear
As a Yankees fan I like Beltran he torch them balls.
Great career!! But still looked at 3 straight strikes in 06 NLCS lol, jokes aside I'm glad he finally got a ring tho!
Met fan here😑😑....still he had some good yrs with us...put em in the hall
Although, in fairness, Wainwright's curve is pretty damn good, it's struck out hitters better than Beltran.
Wainwright is good, but not as good as Rick Ankiel..
And Beltran also hit .296 in that series with 3 HR & 8 runs scored. Typical New Yorker probably here always having to point out the negative.
Try hitting a great curveball, it freezes any hitter, especially when it looks like it's going to hit you.
What about his outfield assist in the NLCS against LA, and his rob of Big Papi in the World Series? Carlos had great seasons with the Cardinals.
He's already extremely talented, but I bonus is that hes a switch hitt er
At 0:30 he wears his right handed helmet when he’s batting left handed😂
Glad my astros got you one ☝️ deserved it
Too bad he came out and said the 2017 World Series is tainted
It was tainted because he tainted it. He was the mastermind behind the whole sign stealing scheme.
@@mach6893 yeah at least they own it at this point
Great career by a class act! Been a fan of his since 2004 when he was with the Astros for the first time. I remember getting an autograph as a kid when he played for them. Glad he ended on top!
Prolly knew what pitch was coming all along
I havent been able to catch a replay of his flip throw assist to home plate with the Astros from the 2004 season.
Our new Mets manager!
This aged badly.
I loved how he did against Wainwright in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 of the 2006 NLCS. He REALLY drove that ball into the night sky that at bat, and sent everyone home... What's that? Are you a poor sport or something?
Jack Son its a good thing one AB doesnt negate 20 years worth of outstanding baseball.
Yet, his career is defined by cheating his way to a World Series ring. #CHEATER
He should be in Cooperstown as an Astro
I didn't start following him when he was with the Astros and then came to the Mets. Then I followed him after the Mets here is my only favorite player. And I also like Ray Ordonez
Great career, but his duty now is to help his people from Puerto Rico!
"Distinguished" more like disgraced now
He should be our next Hall of Famer
I think u forgot when he struck out looking in gm 7 of the 2006 NLCS against the Cardinals.
The Executor is that what he is best remembered for? Come on!
1) Why show that on a tribute to him?
2) Wainwright had a great curveball that he and Molina orchestrated.
But no team wants him as their skipper 2017 haunting him
i hated this guy when he destroyed the braves in that NLDS series, amazing player
O:14 He's batting lefty but has a right handers helmet on Lmao
Game 7 '06 NLCS BUMtran CHOKED! No one was banging on a trash can for him! FIRE BUMTRAN!
Take out his last season with Houston, and then he’d be distinguished. Now that the cheating has been exposed, he’s just a disgrace.
He straight up orchestrated the cheating.

Cooperstown is next for CB
There should be more Astros highlights dude carried that team to game 7 of the alcs
How many teams did he play for?
Greyson Nealy Royals, then briefly Astros, Mets, briefly Giants, Cardinals, Yankees, and Astros again
Michael CSF Zeezy damn
As a Mets fan I want to see the black jerseys this year plz
Made the final out at Tiger Stadium.
Congrats to a future HOF

His greatest moment was cheating with the Astros. Dude a fake. No hof for you
His HR vs BOS in game 4
Is he retired?
TNB LKD no, I think he will retire after this season
DALLAS COWBOYS he just announced his retirement
he officially announced it today.
if you havent read his article in the Players Tribune, do yerself a favor and go check it out.
Hall of fame type of player and of course the one time he didn't come through on the big stage was as a Met.
part of that was Wainwright's curveball, it's pretty damn good, struck out hitters FAR better than Beltran over Wainwright's career, so don't put too much blame on him, even David Ortiz (Big Papi) struck out against Wainwright with that curve.
John Sochacki shame everybody remembers the "one" time he didnt come through instead of all the times he did.
He came through most of the time as a Met. Get over that at-bat. Mets fans seriously don’t deserve Beltran. Best outfielder the team ever had.
I'm Surprised That Wainwright Didn't Strike Out A-Rod With That One
At :23 you notice he had the wrong helmet on lol
How many years was he with the Mets?
7
4:17 Shades of Barry Bonds
Definitely a HOF career. I think he will either go in as a Astro or Met, You can’t choose which sucks
Kevin James mostly a Met or have an HOF logo.
he spent 2 years with the Astros compared to 7 with the Mets and Royals. If it was based on the numbers, I'd say he goes in as a Met.
Why wasn't he on the Postseason Roster?
26!
Where was the catch he made in the World Series against the Red Sox
Who's here after they found out Beltran is a cheater?
Class act. It's too bad he couldn't beat the White Sox in '05.
haha, the part when he dives on Tals Hill for the mets. we all know only an astro can do that.
he was just in disguise
